For liberal women, feminism only goes so far. Sure, they’re all for independence among their sisters — unless they disagree with them politically. Then, it’s claws out.
Take Barbra Streisand. The limousine liberal thinks all women who voted for President Trump are stupid, saying they “don’t believe enough in their own thoughts” to vote another way than their husbands.
“A lot of women vote the way their husbands vote; they don’t believe enough in their own thoughts. Maybe that woman who’s so articulate, so experienced and so fit for the presidency [Hillary] was too intimidating,” Streisand said, according to the Daily Mail.
The singer’s take is, not surprisingly, exactly like that of Clinton. Asked in March about the 52% of white women who voted for Trump in the 2016 presidential election, the two-two presidential loser refused to acknowledge that women might have voted based simply on their own political preferences.
Instead, Clinton claimed that white women were under the spell of their husbands, fathers, and sons, who forced them to pull the lever for Trump. “We do not do well with white men and we don’t do well with married, white women,” Clinton said about the Democratic Party. “And part of that is an identification with the Republican Party, and a sort of ongoing pressure to vote the way that your husband, your boss, your son, whoever, believes you should.”
Streisand went on to say, “I love my country and it’s painful to see democracy being assaulted, institutions being assaulted and women being assaulted.”
The singer’s latest album, “Walls,” features several protest songs against Trump that were written because the election was “devastating” and she was “heartbroken.”
In one song, Streisand addresses Trump, singing: “How do you sleep when the world keeps turning?/All that we built has come undone/How do you sleep when the world is burning?/Everyone answers to someone.”
In her interview with the Mail, Streisand returned to Republican women and Clinton, saying “perhaps she made women feel unsuccessful. All of this was so devastating to me and I was heartbroken, so I wanted to write about it, sing about it, and deliver an album. It was perfect timing, so I just did it.”
Before the 2018 mid-term elections, Streisand threatened to move to Canada if Democrats lost again.
“I’ve been thinking about, do I want to move to Canada? I don’t know,” Streisand told The New York Times. She said she might pack it up and move if the Democrats didn’t take control of the House of Representatives.
“I want to sleep nights … if we take the House I’ll be able to sleep a little bit better,” she said. “I’m just so saddened by this thing happening to our country. It’s making me fat. I hear what he said now, and I have to go eat pancakes now, and pancakes are very fattening.”
