<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Comedian and far-Left activist </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/amy-schumer" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Amy Schumer</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> came down hard on Alec Baldwin’s wife, </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hilaria-baldwin" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hilaria Baldwin</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, who made headlines in 2020 for suggesting that she was from Spain and playing up her Spanish heritage despite hailing from the United States.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Schumer addressed the controversy in her new Netflix </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/comedy" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">stand-up special</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, &#8220;Emergency Contact.&#8221; </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Do you guys know who Hilaria Baldwin is?&#8221; the comedian asked during the newly released special. &#8220;I&#8217;m saying it wrong. I&#8217;m sorry,&#8221; she said, changing her pronunciation to have a thick Spanish accent. &#8220;Hilaria Baldwin,” she continued. “I just can&#8217;t wrap my head around this story.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Schumer described meeting Baldwin &#8220;years ago&#8221; on the set of &#8220;Saturday Night Live.&#8221; The 42-year-old celebrity said Baldwin claimed to be &#8220;&#8216;from España'&#8221; and spoke with &#8220;a very thick Spanish accent,&#8221; per </span><a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/tv/2023/06/13/amy-schumer-emergency-contact-netflix-special-standup-alec-baldwin-hilaria/70313267007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">USA Today</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;They have a von Trapp amount of children,&#8221; she said of Alec and Hilaria’s seven kids, comparing them to the classic film &#8220;The Sound of Music,&#8221; which is about a family with the same number of children. &#8220;And they named them all ― I&#8217;m not sure, but very Spanish names like Jamón, Croqueta, and Flamenco.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;And all of this would be fine and beautiful, except that &#8216;Hilaria from España&#8217; is actually Hillary from Boston,&#8221; Schumer said. &#8220;This woman is in no way Spanish. Her parents are not from Spain. No one in her life is from Spain. You&#8217;re going, &#8216;What?!'&#8221;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The “Trainwreck” actress said she was “not trying to bully a sociopath&#8221; by bringing this up.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In 2020, Baldwin defended herself from critics who accused her of appropriating Spanish culture.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I&#8217;m born in Boston, and then I spent some of my childhood in Boston, some of my childhood in Spain,&#8221; she said in a video posted to Instagram. &#8220;There was, like, a lot of back-and-forth my entire life, and I&#8217;m really lucky that I grew up speaking two languages, and I&#8217;m trying to raise my kids so that they speak two languages too.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The yoga instructor, born Hillary Thomas, said her &#8220;whole family&#8221; called her Hilaria, per </span><a href="https://www.insider.com/hilaria-baldwin-spanish-controversy-public-life-timeline-2020-12" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Insider</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. &#8220;I think that we can all be really, like, clear that it&#8217;s the same name, just a few letters different, so I think we shouldn&#8217;t be so upset about it,&#8221; she said.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Baldwin further defended mixing Spanish and English while speaking. &#8220;It&#8217;s one of those things that&#8217;s always been a little bit — I&#8217;ve been a little insecure about over at different times,&#8221; she said in 2020. &#8220;When I tried to work, I tried to enunciate a little bit more, but if I get nervous or upset or something, then I start to mix the two.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;It&#8217;s not something that I&#8217;m, like, playing at. So I want that to be very, very, very clear,&#8221; Baldwin said.</span></p>
