American Idol” judge Luke Bryan praised a 21-year-old contestant in the top 8 finalist section of the competition series for not being “scared” to share her “faith.”

The 46-year-old country singer recently told Megan Danielle, a waitress from Douglasville, Georgia, that he was impressed with her commitment.

It happened on Monday’s show after Danielle sang, “Go Rest High on That Mountain” in honor of her grandfather, who passed away last year. She sang the same song at his funeral.

“I can’t imagine what you were feeling during that performance,” host Ryan Seacrest told the contestant. “You definitely honored him.”

Bryan explained that he was the one who picked the song for the young contestant and said it’s because she’s always willing to share her faith.

“What I love about you — I mean, we’re way beyond loving your voice — is you’re, you know, you’re never scared to tell everybody your faith,” Bryan said. “And when I thought about that song, I just felt in my heart that I couldn’t pick a better one than that for you.”

As Bryan explained his choice, Danielle became emotional and started tearing up, trying not to break down crying on the show. Seacrest then handed the contestant a handkerchief.

Idol judge Lionel Richie agreed that her performance was moving and said, “You have the amazing ability to touch. A lot of people can sing. But you have an amazing ability to touch.”

“Your voice is so powerful when it comes down to just telling your story,” he added. “I know your Paw Paw is very, very happy for what you did today.”

When it was judge Katy Perry’s turn to comment, she said she believed Danielle’s grandfather actually chose the song through Bryan.

“I think he’s trying to tell you that you are exactly where you’re meant to be right now,” Perry said. “And you deserve this moment Megan. And it’s a wonderful confirmation and I don’t believe in any coincidences … so I just think that was heaven-sent.”
