Alec Baldwin’s New ABC Talk Show A Dismal Failure, Gets Pathetic Ratings

Black people may “love” Alec Baldwin, but it turns out TV watchers don’t.

Baldwin, who plays President Trump on “Saturday Night Live,” has a new show on ABC that debuted last Sunday. It did not go well — even though he had actor Robert De Niro on for what turned into a nonstop Trump-bashing fest.

“According to Nielsen, the premiere of ‘The Alec Baldwin Show’ on ABC garnered just a 0.4 rating among adults 18-49, the demographic most coveted by advertisers. The Baldwin-hosted chatfest was the lowest-rated program in the demo of any broadcast network — including the CW,” Fox News reported.

“By comparison, NBC’s ‘Sunday Night Football’ matchup between the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs earned a 6.1 rating among adults 18-49, CBS’ ’60 Minutes’ — which featured an interview with the president — drew a 1.9 rating and the CW premieres of ‘Supergirl’ and the reboot of ‘Charmed each drew a 0.5 rating,” Fox said.

The “Baldwin Show” episode featured De Niro, who told the “30 Rock” actor that he was “so offended” by Trump and “Republicans in general.”

“Everything he says about other people, ‘You’re a loser. You’re a this. You’re a that,’ is everything he’s saying about himself,” DeNiro said. “He’s so transparent. He’s projecting.”

Baldwin was in the news just a few days ago when he told The Hollywood Reporter that “black people love me.”

“I don’t know how to say this and I don’t want to get it wrong either, because everything is a minefield of bombs going off, but ever since I played Trump, black people love me,” the actor said in a story published last Wednesday. “They love me.”

“Everywhere I go, black people go crazy,” Baldwin said. “I think it’s because they’re most afraid of Trump. I’m not going to paint every African-American person with the same brush, but a significant number of them are sitting there going, ‘This is going to be bad for black folks.’ “

Maybe Baldwin should invite Kanye West to his new ABC show.
