A 22-year-old man who said he surgically transitioned to female as a teenager but has now “detransitioned” posted a Twitter thread that went viral over the weekend, sharing his thoughts on The Daily Wire’s new documentary, “What Is A Woman?

“Hello, my name is Jaden. I’m a 22 year old detrans male and former puberty blocked individual who socially, hormonally, and surgically transitioned as a teenager,” he introduced himself at the beginning of his thread. “Recently, I had the pleasure of watching the documentary ‘What Is A Woman?’ and I wanted to share my thoughts.”

Jaden went on to share that the interview in “What Is A Woman” that particularly caught his attention was when The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh interviewed Dr. Michelle Forcier, a physician who treats transgender youth. Forcier said she has also worked for several Planned Parenthoods over the last two decades.

Jaden notes that “Forcier is a big proponent for ‘affirmative’ healthcare and pubertal blockers.” Forcier says in the film that medical affirmation begins “when the patient says they’re ready for it.”

“It’s no secret trans care is handled anecdotally but it’s unnerving to hear a medical professional talk about something so intimate & serious as transitioning in an inconsistent, nonchalant manner,” Jaden wrote.

“As someone who took these medications as a teenager, I’ve contended with many of the effects reported,” Jaden wrote.

Jaden added that when he was 16, he was prescribed spironolactone, a common testosterone blocker. He struggled as he took the medication for nearly a year but “consistently” had high testosterone levels, he said.

The part Jaden took issue with, he said, was Forcier’s claim that puberty blockers are “completely reversible and don’t have permanent effects.”

“This ever increasingly common narrative is a fallacy, with medical data, lawsuits, and personal reported experiences directly contradicting it,” Jaden explained, citing several studies and a lawsuit from a woman claiming a testosterone-suppressing drug caused a brain injury.

His doctors were “stumped” by his labs and switched out his testosterone blockers for an implant called Histrelin, a gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist that can be used to suppress puberty until the person is ready to start cross-sex hormones.

“In the coming years, I’d experience physical, mental, and sexual changes I never could imagine,” Jaden said.

He developed muscular atrophy, metabolic issues, and bone density concerns, “physical issues that still affect me.”

“The lack of physical development and sexual maturation I experienced is irreversible, even when taking testosterone replacement therapy. The fetility [sic] issues, and eventual decimation of my fertility altogether, will never be rebounded,” he said.

Even the Mayo Clinic warns that puberty blockers can affect fertility.

Eventually, Jaden started cross-sex hormones. With estrogen injections, some of his issues worsened, including “vascular issues and what is likely nerve damage in my legs,” he said.

“I noticed within the first weeks of taking blockers a total loss of libido, which was expected,” he said. “What I didn’t expect was facing anorgasmia, a side effect my doctor failed to warn me of. It wouldn’t be until years later, after demanding the implant be removed, I’d experience one.”

“I also started feeling as if I wasn’t equipped to handle my emotions, as I felt them much more intensely than I had previously,” Jaden continued. “I had started dealing with brain fog, memory issues, trouble concentrating, and depression. These issues unfortunately led me to dropping out of school.”

Jaden concluded that it is “frustrating, and saddening” to hear medical professionals insist that a drug that has harmed him and others is “completely reversible” and has no permanent effects.

“It’s disturbing how doctors willfully spread misinformation to coop a movement, and pathologize [gender non-conforming] youth,” he said.
