Scores of top U.S. officials have been attacked by what officials believe is a “directed energy microwave weapon” that can leave victims with permanent debilitating neurological symptoms.
“Well U.S. officials say there are now 130 suspected victims, mostly CIA operatives and U.S. diplomats being treated for brain injuries, debilitating headaches, and vertigo,” Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin reported on Thursday. “The targets they believe of a directed energy microwave weapon. Fox has confirmed two individuals working on the NSC during the Trump administration believe they were targeted in 2019 and in 2020 in the days following the election. One was near the White House and one was walking her dog. The Russians have been working on mobile microwave weapons for years.”
Griffin reported earlier in the week that indications suggest the attacks could potentially go back all the way to 1996, but they first gained serious attention in 2016 in Cuba when numerous U.S. personnel described experiencing the symptoms.
The New Yorker reported on July 29, 2019, that brain specialists at the University of Pennsylvania, who tested 40 U.S. officials who are victims of these suspected attacks, confirmed that the victims’ brains had suffered “tangible neurological changes” that were “not like anything we’ve ever seen before,” top officials told the magazine.

According to the first study, the victims appeared to have sustained serious brain injuries that resembled concussions suffered by soldiers struck by roadside bombs in Iraq and Afghanistan. But there were no signs of impact. One of the specialists at the University of Pennsylvania said that it was as if the victims had a “concussion without concussion.”
Advanced neuroimaging machines tested the volume of white matter in the victims’ brains and found that the results were “significantly” different than in the brains of people who had not experienced the alleged attacks.
“It is clear that something structural in the brain was affected, but we don’t know what that is and what caused the effects,” officials told the magazine. “The mass-hysteria hypothesis is debunked by very obvious neurological findings that you can’t imitate, you can’t mimic.”
Griffin reported earlier this week that the weapon that some officials suspect is behind the attacks is similar to the types of energy weapons that are used to take down drones.
“The U.S. Air Force and tech firm Epirus have developed a mobile high energy microwave weapon to bring down drones, Epirus is also working on a miniature variant of the weapon that can be easily transported on a pick up truck,” Griffin said. “This is the type of technology that might be targeting American diplomats.”
Politico reported earlier this month that a secret Russian military unit, the GRU, might be behind neurological attacks on U.S. government officials.
While the sources that spoke to the publication said they do not have smoking gun proof, they pointed to several factors that they say makes the GRU the prime suspect. The GRU has a known presence in all of the areas where U.S. officials have gotten sick, it’s the only Russian agency with the technology capable of the attacks, and Russia has stated in the past that it sought to pursue “irregular warfare” against the U.S. because it cannot compete at the same level as the U.S. on the battlefield.
