The American mainstream media proved to be little more than a circus in 2017, with its strong left-leaning bias on full display as many news outlets dedicated their news coverage to being as anti-Trump as possible, injecting politics into every facet of American life.
In its all-out pursuit of destroying President Donald Trump, the media has chosen to bury or ignore several major national news stories.
Here are 12 major national news stories that the media buried, forgot, or ignored in 2017:
12. Charlottesville — State and local police were held back which allowed the violence to escalate.
The liberal college town hosted an alt-right rally on August 12 that turned deadly when a protestor ran over a woman in his car. The event was used to attack President Trump because he originally condemned all the violence that took place during the rally — which the media falsely claimed was a sign of support for neo-Nazis, KKK members, and white supremacists.
The media praised Democratic Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe and Democratic Charlottesville Mayor Mike Signer for their responses specifically condemning white supremacists.
What the media ignored, however, was how the violence escalated and who was responsible.
Left-leaning groups like the ACLU and ProPublica (George Soros-funded) both criticized the response by state and local police and suggested that they had been ordered to stand down.
An independent investigation found:
• Despite repeated public statements by state and local officials that officers were not instructed to “stand down,” police had in fact been instructed only to intervene in conflicts between white nationalists and counterprotesters in the event of serious injury.
• A Virginia State Police commander made an “off-plan” decision to keep state officers behind barricades instead of sending them into the streets to break up fights and make arrests.
• After clashes began, Police Chief Al Thomas was heard by several people in the command center saying to “let them fight, it will make it easier to declare an unlawful assembly” and shut down the rally.
• Thomas attempted to obstruct the city’s investigation, deleting relevant text messages, attempting to hide his use of a personal email account to conduct some official police business, and creating planning checklists that were not actually used to plan for the rallies.
McAuliffe and Signer had been in contact about the rally and ultimately are responsible for how police mismanaged the event, as the report noted that McAuliffe told Singer that Virginia State Police (VSP) would provide a list of suggestions for how to handle security — a list that was never delivered.
11. The Las Vegas Massacre.
It’s been more than 85 days since gunman Stephen Paddock, 64, shot up a country music concert in Las Vegas, killing 58 and injuring approximately 500 more.
The FBI has released little to no information about Paddock and no information exists about a possible motive, although the FBI ruled out the possibility of terrorism almost immediately — despite multiple claims of responsibility by ISIS.
New York Times reporter Rukmini Callimachi, who specifically covers ISIS, warned against automatically dismissing the claims by the terrorist organization.
There are dozens of questions that are still unanswered that the media is no longer asking, as the FBI recently said that they will not release their report of what they believe happened for up to another nine months.
Special Agent in Charge Aaron Rouse said that the FBI has interviewed more than 400 people worldwide about Paddock — which directly contradicts the media’s narrative that he was an “off the grid” type who kept to himself and whom no one knew anything about.
10. The Podesta Group in Mueller’s investigation.
Lost in the media’s continual bombardment of ‘fake news’ bombshells about how President Trump is seemingly doomed every week is the Podesta Group.
The Democrat-connected Podesta Group was reportedly under investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller back in October, which led to the group reportedly telling its employees that they were closing down.
As rumors begin to swirl that Mueller is getting ready to charge Paul Manafort with tax-related crimes, look for the Podesta Group’s name to pop back up.
9. Missouri Democrat Senator calls for Trump’s assassination — and is still in office.
Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal called for President Donald Trump’s assassination in a Facebook post in August that she ultimately deleted; her post sparked national outrage as multiple news organizations and politicians in the state called for her to resign.
After initially refusing to apologize, Chappelle-Nadal caved to the national spotlight and issued a seemingly insincere and scripted apology.
8. Report reveals that Obama supported Hezbollah by ending federal investigations into the Islamic terrorist organization.
A stunning report revealed that the Obama administration “ended a major federal law enforcement operation that targeted the Iranian-sponsored terrorist group Hezbollah because it wanted to secure a nuclear deal with Iran — a deal that some experts have called a complete ‘joke.’”
“The operation, named Project Cassandra, launched in 2008 after the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) had gathered a substantial amount of evidence that Hezbollah had grown from a ‘military and political organization’ that operated solely in the Middle East into an international criminal enterprise that was earning approximately $1 billion per year from ‘drug and weapons trafficking, money laundering and other criminal activities,’” The Daily Wire noted of Politico’s report.
7. Fake news, lies, and not reporting Trump’s accomplishments.
2017 was a monster year for fake news, most of which seemed to come from center-left publications. Whether it was the mainstream media reporting factually inaccurate information about the Mueller investigation on a regular basis, or the latest absurd article from Newsweek, or intentionally misleading tweets from The Hill — 2017 was bad for the media.
The media not only deceived the American public by what they reported, but also by what they failed to report: President Trump’s accomplishments and effort.
Some of Trump’s 81 major accomplishments include: crushing ISIS, booming economy, tax reform, appointing a ton of federal judges, Neil Gorsuch, ending Obama’s job-killing regulations, recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city, and rebuilding the military.
Studies from Pew Research and Harvard have proven that the media has a strong anti-Trump bias and is intent on giving him mostly negative coverage.
6. Democrat terrorist tries to murder Republican lawmakers; Joy Reid attacks victim Steve Scalise as he fights for his life.
Democratic terrorist James Hodgkinson, who was a huge Bernie Sanders supporter and hated Trump, tried to murder multiple Republican lawmakers as they prepared for a congressional baseball game.
Hodgkinson, who was a big fan of MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, was an avowed leftist who participated in Occupy Wall Street events.
MSNBC host Joy Reid, who is a documented bigot and homophobe, used the shooting to attack one of the victims — Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA).
5. Russia investigation has turned up nothing on Trump.
Sure, a couple of people from Trump’s campaign have received indictments in Mueller’s investigation, but they are not for crimes committed by Trump or his campaign.
Michael Flynn lied to the FBI, Papadopoulos lied to the FBI, Manafort and Gates are accused of committing financial crimes that happened years before the campaign and are not related to Trump.
The entire point of the investigation was to discover if “collusion” happened between the Trump campaign and Russian officials, and, so far, the investigation has not turned up anything.
4. Imran Awan scandal.
Three former IT staffers for former DNC head Debbie Wasserman, all of whom are brothers and are Pakistani nationals, have been exposed in one of the largest political scandals of the decade that the media continues to ignore. National Review’s Andrew McCarthy called the scandal “a real conspiracy, aimed at undermining American national security.”
The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Luke Rosiak broke the scandal in February when he first reported:
Brothers Abid, Imran, and Jamal Awan were barred from computer networks at the House of Representatives Thursday, The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has learned.
Three members of the intelligence panel and five members of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs were among the dozens of members who employed the suspects on a shared basis. The two committees deal with many of the nation’s most sensitive issues and documents, including those related to the war on terrorism.
Also among those whose computer systems may have been compromised is Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the Florida Democrat who was previously the target of a disastrous email hack when she served as chairman of the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 campaign.
The brothers are suspected of serious violations, including accessing members’ computer networks without their knowledge and stealing equipment from Congress.
Since Rosiak’s first report, he has published dozens more that document the seriousness of the scandal.
3. New Developments in the Uranium One scandal involving Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Last week, “Attorney General Jeff Sessions has ordered prosecutors at the Department of Justice to begin interviewing FBI agents about evidence they uncovered in a criminal investigation into a highly-controversial uranium deal that involves Bill and Hillary Clinton,” The Daily Wire reported.
A report from October revealed that “the FBI started gathering evidence in 2009 of Russian officials engaged in bribery, kickbacks, extortion, and money laundering that were involved in the Uranium One deal.”
Many of the same officials who are involved in the current Russia investigation were caught up in what happened with the Uranium One deal, The Hill reported:
The investigation was ultimately supervised by then-U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein, an Obama appointee who now serves as President Trump’s deputy attorney general, and then-Assistant FBI Director Andrew McCabe, now the deputy FBI director under Trump, Justice Department documents show.
Both men now play a key role in the current investigation into possible, but still unproven, collusion between Russia and Donald Trump’s campaign during the 2016 election cycle. McCabe is under congressional and Justice Department inspector general investigation in connection with money his wife’s Virginia state Senate campaign accepted in 2015 from now-Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe at a time when McAuliffe was reportedly under investigation by the FBI.
The connections to the current Russia case are many. The Mikerin probe began in 2009 when Robert Mueller, now the special counsel in charge of the Trump case, was still FBI director. And it ended in late 2015 under the direction of then-FBI Director James Comey, whom Trump fired earlier this year.
The Obama administration allegedly threatened and tried to silence a witness in the case as they did not want him to testify to Congress what he knew because it would have impacted the 2016 presidential election.
That witness has now been cleared to testify to Congress and is expected to do so in early 2018 — which could lead to big problems for the Democrats.
2. IRS admits they illegally targeted conservatives under Obama.
In October, the IRS admitted that under former President Barack Obama they targeted conservative groups, as The Daily Wire reported:
The Department of Justice, righting the wrongs that the Obama IRS committed when it waged an egregiously partisan campaign against Tea Party and other conservative groups, has reached settlements with the roughly 400 groups that were targeted.
On Thursday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the decision that affected groups whose tax-exempt status was significantly delayed by the IRS dating back to 2013, “based solely on their viewpoint or ideology.” Not only will the groups be paid, but the IRS has offered an apology.
Sessions said that groups with names involving “Tea Party” or “Patriots,” or groups that argued policy positions concerning government spending, were subject to “inappropriate criteria” to “screen” applications. He stated, “The IRS’s use of these criteria as a basis for heightened scrutiny was wrong and should never have occurred. It is improper for the IRS to single out groups for different treatment based on their names or ideological positions.”
Former corrupt IRS senior executive Lois Lerner is now pleading with the courts to keep her deposition permanently sealed, claiming that there is “no legitimate” reason for the public to know what she said.
1. Nancy Pelosi takes months to condemn Antifa; Schumer, Obama, and Hillary never denounce the violent leftist group.
On August 29, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi finally condemned the violent leftist group Antifa — which many have called to be designated as a terrorist organization:
Our democracy has no room for inciting violence or endangering the public, no matter the ideology of those who commit such acts. The violent actions of people calling themselves Antifa in Berkeley this weekend deserve unequivocal condemnation, and the perpetrators should be arrested and prosecuted.
The move by Pelosi came after months of violence and chaos spread by the violent hate group in response to President Donald Trump’s election victory. The group claims to be fighting “fascists,” by ironically acting like fascists and silencing everyone they disagree with, which a lot of the time ends up being people who attend free speech rallies.
Even the left-leaning Washington Post has said the leftist group “is the moral equivalent of neo-Nazis.”
Politico reports that many universities across the U.S. are bracing for a violent 2018 from Antifa:
After a year marked by campus confrontations between white nationalists and anti-fascist extremists, university administrators are preparing for a combative and potentially violent 2018 by beefing up security and examining the boundaries of their own commitment to free speech.
While the highly biased anti-Trump media attacked the president for condemning “all violence” that occurred during the Charlottesville rally because he did not specifically call out Nazis, KKK members, and white supremacists, that same media has not called out Obama, Hillary, and Schumer for not condemning the violence from Antifa — which has been on a much larger scale and has occurred more frequently.
