Giving the commencement address at the University of Alabama on Thursday night, President Donald Trump brought roars from the crowd when he praised the graduates while ripping Harvard University.
Trump has targeted Harvard for its lackadaisical attitude regarding antisemitism and its general adherence to leftist ideologies; on Wednesday, he <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-suggests-us-may-not-give-more-grants-harvard-university-2025-04-30/">suggested</a> the federal government might stop giving grants to the university. The Trump administration has frozen $2.3 billion in federal funds for Harvard and begun a formal review into roughly $9 billion in funding for the university.
“We believe the South is beautiful, Alabama is great, and America is our home,” Trump told the Alabama graduates. “We believe in the SEC [the Southeastern Conference] and the USA. Graduates of the Alabama Class of 2025, standing here before you in this magnificent arena, it is clear to see the next chapter of the American story will not be written by the Harvard Crimson. It will be written by you, the Crimson Tide.”
As the exultant crowd roared its applause, Trump repeated, “That’s true. That’s true.”
“I thought that was rather clever,” he quipped. “If you look at what’s going on now, they get their $5 billion a year that is not going to be so forthcoming.”
“This is Alabama, and in Alabama you fight, fight, fight, and you win, win, win, that’s what you know how to do,” he told the cheering crowd.

“God only created one of you; remember that,” he instructed the graduates. “God created one of you; you’re all different; somewhere close, but nobody is the same. You’re one of a kind. So don’t try to be someone else, just be yourself. And finally, and most importantly, never, ever, give up.”

President Donald Trump announced on Monday night that he will deliver the commencement addresses at the University of Alabama and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
Trump will address graduating cadets at West Point for the second time after delivering the commencement address there in June of 2020 during the COVID pandemic. The speech at Alabama will be his first commencement address at the university.
&#8220;I have agreed to do the Commencement Address at two really GREAT places, the University of Alabama and, WEST POINT. Stay tuned for times and dates!!!&#8221; Trump wrote on social media.

Trump has made multiple trips to the University of Alabama in recent years. During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump traveled to Tuscaloosa to attend the Alabama vs. Georgia football game, and during his first term as president, he was at the Alabama vs. LSU game.
West Point grads are usually <a href="https://www.westpoint.edu/about/traditions/graduation/usma-commencement-speakers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">addressed</a> by the commander-in-chief, vice president, or other sitting U.S. leaders. Last year, then-President Joe Biden delivered the commencement address at West Point, and in 2023, Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the graduating class. Former President Barack Obama delivered the commencement address at West Point twice while in office, as did former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.
During his 2020 address at West Point, Trump emphasized the importance of the academy and the sacrifices and contributions its graduates made for the country.

The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/alabama" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Alabama</a> wasted no time locking down their future head football coach this week after legendary coach Nick Saban announced on Wednesday that he was retiring.
The Crimson Tide hired Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer, 49, on Friday after he led his team to this year&#8217;s national championship game in only his second year leading the program.
Replacing the greatest college football coach of all-time will not be an easy task as weekly competition in the SEC is tougher than in the PAC-12 and expectations will be higher for him at Alabama than Washington.
DeBoer led the Washington Huskies to a 25-3 record in his two years at the program, a drastic turnaround from their abysmal 4-8 record in 2021.
&#8220;Coach DeBoer has proven he is a winner and has done an incredible job as a head coach at each of his stops,&#8221; said Director of Athletics Greg Byrne. &#8220;One of the things I told our team the other day is we are going to get someone who is not only a great coach with the Xs and Os, but also someone who cares about his players and someone I&#8217;d want my sons to play for, just like I would have wanted them to play for Coach Saban.&#8221;
DeBoer said in a statement that he has always he tremendous respect for the Alabama football program, noting that its &#8220;tradition-rich history&#8221; was &#8220;unmatched across the landscape of college athletics.&#8221;
&#8220;Following Coach Saban is an honor. He has been the standard for college football, and his success is unprecedented,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I would not have left Washington for just any school. The chance to lead the football program at The University of Alabama is the opportunity of a lifetime.&#8221;
In his nine seasons as a head coach, DeBoer has gone 104-12; including going 67-3 at the University of Sioux Falls over five seasons and 12-6 during two seasons at Fresno State.

A college basketball coach whose player was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/univ-of-alabama-basketball-player-charged-with-capital-murder-in-the-deadly-shooting-of-23-year-old-woman/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">charged with murder</a> sought the advice of an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/franco-harris-nfl-hall-of-famer-who-caught-immaculate-reception-and-won-4-super-bowls-dies-at-72/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NFL Hall of Famer</a> uniquely qualified to help: Onetime homicide suspect Ray Lewis.
Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats reached out to Lewis to ask the former Baltimore Ravens great how to deal with the case of Darius Miles before the team played a road game against Vanderbilt Tuesday. Miles, a 6-foot, 6-inch forward who has now been kicked off the team, was charged with capital murder in the Sunday shooting death of a 23-year-old woman near campus.
“He went through a similar situation in Atlanta,” Oats told the Alabama Crimson Tide Sports Network pregame show before the Tides’ 78-66 victory. “He played in the NFL. He told me what he thought guys needed to hear.”
Lewis and two other men were indicted on murder and aggravated assault charges in 2000 for their alleged roles in the stabbing deaths of Jacinth Baker and Richard Lollard in an Atlanta nightclub following the Super Bowl. The charge against Lewis was later dropped when he agreed to testify against the other two defendants in exchange for a guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of obstructing justice. The other defendants were later acquitted.
Although Lewis, now 47, went on to enjoy an illustrious career, including a Super Bowl victory the next season, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018, nagging questions remained unanswered from the murders. A white suit Lewis was wearing that night was never found and was allegedly blood-stained and dumped in a trash bin. Prosecutors said Baker’s blood was found in Lewis’s limousine, and Lewis admitted that he lied to police the next day, when he denied being at the scene.
Miles has been charged with providing a gun to pal Michael Lynn Davis, who allegedly used it to kill Jamea Jonea Harris at around 2 a.m. in Tuscaloosa, along a campus strip of bars and restaurants. Both suspects could face the death penalty.
Lewis played college football at the University of Miami, but his daughter, Diaymon Lewis, attended Alabama.
“I just thought he’s been through, you know, a tragic situation,” Oats said. “He is one of the more mentally tough athletes in my time. His daughter went to Alabama, so I was able to get his number. I talked to him. He didn’t talk to the team or anything. But he kind of talked to me. He’s a man of faith as well. Just kind of told me to share a little word with him, pray with him. That’s what they need right now. His daughter went to school here a year-and-a-half ago, so she’s pretty shook up by the whole situation, too.”

Alabama Coach Calls Onetime Murder Suspect, NFL Hall Of Famer For Advice After Player Charged In Killing

University of Alabama junior forward basketball player Darius Miles and another suspect have been charged with capital murder Sunday in the deadly shooting of a 23-year-old woman shot on the Strip in Tuscaloosa.
Miles had been ruled out for the basketball season one day before the shooting due to an ankle injury, local media <a href="https://www.al.com/news/tuscaloosa/2023/01/university-of-alabama-basketball-player-darius-miles-among-2-charged-with-capital-murder-in-deadly-shooting-on-the-strip.html">reported</a>. Just over 24-hours later, authorities arrested the college athlete and led him to the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
Video captured 21-year-old Miles crying during a perp walk repeating &#8220;I love you&#8221; and &#8220;I love you more than you can imagine,&#8221; to someone standing outside the county jail.

Miles, and Michael Lynn Davis, 20, have been charged in the killing of Jamea Jonae Harris, which occurred around 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning, according to local media.
Authorities were dispatched to a shooting at the Walk of Champions at Bryant Denny Stadium.
University of Alabama police witnessed a stopped vehicle where they found Harris dead inside, Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Capt. Jack Kennedy told AL.com.
Authorities said the unidentified driver of the vehicle told police the car had been struck by gunfire and returned fire in self-defense, which the driver believes may have hit a suspect.
Kennedy spoke with multiple witnesses and reviewed surrounding video surveillance footage, which assisted in identifying the two suspects.
Kennedy said both suspects were interviewed and found that one had been struck by gunfire and had a non-life-threatening wound.
&#8220;It appears at this time that the shooting was the result of a minor argument that occurred between the victims and suspects after they encountered each other along the strip,&#8221; Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Capt. Jack Kennedy told AL.com. &#8220;The member agencies of the Violent Crimes Unit utilized all their resources and worked together flawlessly to bring this case to a resolution in a rapid manner.&#8221;
The University of Alabama and its athletics department released statements to AL.com following the announcement of Miles&#8217;s arrest, saying that university officials &#8220;were made aware of the recent charge against student-athlete Darius Miles; he has been removed from campus and is no longer a member of the Alabama men&#8217;s basketball team.&#8221;
&#8220;The University of Alabama&#8217;s utmost priority is the safety and well-being of the campus community,&#8221; the statement reads, in part. &#8220;We are grieved by the incident that occurred near campus last night and extend our deepest condolences to the victim&#8217;s family and friends. We are grateful for the quick and thorough response of law enforcement and emergency response teams, and we will continue to fully support the ongoing investigation.&#8221;
&#8220;First and foremost, we extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the victim from last night&#8217;s incident,&#8221; UA Athletics officials said.
The official Alabama athletics website removed Miles&#8217; profile after playing six season games before injuring his ankle.
Miles last played for the fourth-ranked Crimson Tide basketball team on Dec. 20, 2022, where he scored two points in Alabama&#8217;s 84-64 win over Jackson State, ESPN <a href="https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/35455668/alabama-basketball-player-darius-miles-charged-capital-murder-shooting">reported.</a>

Sometimes we all fall victim to getting caught up in the moment in all walks of life.
Sometimes we forget to look at large data sets and only go by recent bias, which is why I am telling anyone and everyone that if you think <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/what-s-the-future-of-alabama-s-dynasty-guest-big-game-boomer-ep-179" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nick Saban and Alabama</a> are coming back down to reality, don’t count on it.
There are three different entities I never question: God, Nick Saban, and my fiance.
There is a little room for worry seeing as Alabama is losing games in ways we haven’t seen in a long time, with self inflicted wounds.
In the past, the few losses that Bama suffered were because a team either played out of their minds for four quarters or something crazy happened. But this team is losing in the way that Bama typically beats people.
While it may sound confusing when you hear Saban use the term ‘process,’ he is really referring to getting the best players to play the most disciplined.
In the game of football most teams lose games, they don’t win them. When you are counting on 11 people to do the right thing consistently, that is just how it goes.
And Saban’s formula has always been to get more talented players to play more buttoned up than your guys and let gravity do the rest.
This year we&#8217;ve seen Alabama get penalized more than a husband who doesn’t shut the kitchen cabinets when he takes something out, and we have seen very uncharacteristic blunders on special teams and areas where Bama usually out disciplines opponents.
Saban runs on HGH, Little Debbies, and coffee — which I am starting to believe may be the recipe for the fountain of youth. This year seems more of an anomaly than what we have seen when you look at the whole data set.
It is good to see some fresh faces and new blood at the college football playoff table, but if you think Saban or Alabama are just about done, guess again, he is the GOAT for a reason.

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has fined the University of Tennessee $100,000 after football fans flooded the field following its win over the University of Alabama.
The Saturday night victory broke a 15-game losing streak against the Crimson Tide in the longtime conference rivalry.
<a href="https://www.secsports.com/article/34809764/tennessee-fined-competition-area-policy-violation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SEC policy</a> states that &#8220;access to competition areas shall be limited to participating student-athletes, coaches, officials, support personnel and properly-credentialed individuals at all times. For the safety of participants and spectators alike, at no time before, during or after a contest shall spectators be permitted to enter the competition area. It is the responsibility of each member institution to implement procedures to ensure compliance with this policy.&#8221;
The fine for the penalty is $50,000 for a first offense, but Tennessee is currently on its second offense following a 2006 basketball violation against Florida. The fine of $100,000 is based on the second offense. Penalties for a third offense and beyond are $250,000.
Fines against schools in the conference are deposited into the SEC Post-Graduate Scholarship Fund, according to the policy.
In addition to storming the field, fans ripped down the goalpost, marching it out of Neyland Stadium. Fans carried it to the Strip area of Knoxville and later tossed it into the Tennessee River.

The mayhem occurred after a wild game that ended in epic fashion. Tied 49-49, Alabama attempted a 50-yard field goal to win without going into overtime. The kick soared wide right, leaving the Volunteers 15 seconds and a tiny window of opportunity.
Two plays later, Tennessee had moved the ball far enough to attempt its own field goal from 40 yards for the final play of the game. The kick by the Vols Chase McGrath spun sideways, barely clearing the crossbar on the final play, sending fans into a frenzy.
More than 102,000 spectators were in attendance, with thousands storming the field as fireworks launched into the night sky. Security was quickly overwhelmed as students and other fans soon took over during the massive celebration.
University of Tennessee System President Randy Boyd was seen in a video on social media responding to the scene.
&#8220;Randy, what&#8217;s that gonna cost?&#8221; he was asked.

Tennessee Vols Head Coach Josh Heupel was ecstatic in the postgame interview.
“This is college football at its absolute best,” Heupel said, <a href="https://www.espn.com/college-football/recap?gameId=401403921" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to ESPN. “We were the best team on the field tonight. That’s all we can control.”
Tennessee remains undefeated at 6-0 and was ranked #3 in the nation&#8217;s latest AP NCAA football standings released on Sunday. Alabama dropped to #6 at 6-1. Conference rival Georgia ranked #1 at 7-0.

My boss has a pretty famous saying: “Facts don’t care about your feelings.” And when it comes to college football, that couldn’t be more true.
Most of us want parity; we really want to believe our team has a chance to win the whole thing. Unfortunately, outside of four fanbases right now, that is just a mirage. After week one of college football, it is pretty easy to see that there are two teams that stand out from the field. 
They stand out physically and mentally. 
They stand out because they have the best, most disciplined players in all three phases of the game. 
Those two teams are the University of Alabama and the University of Georgia. Ohio State and Clemson are the next closest to the top, but Alabama and Georgia have reached a level where they have a distinct advantage. They have the speed, the talent, the knowledge and the will to do whatever it takes for the longest.
Alabama appears to have one of the best team’s Saban has ever put together; the offensive line will continue to improve, and the mixture of Young, Gibbs, Holden and the rest of the &#8216;Monstars&#8217; seems to be more in sync than Justin Timberlake. Meanwhile, Kirby is building ’Bama-worthy strength in Athens. 
Georgia’s absolute soul-crushing defeat of Oregon looked very familiar to what Saban’s teams have been doing to brand-name opponents in season openers since his crystal chariot stopped in T-town. Take one look at the Georgia players getting off the bus and you’ll think you’re watching a WWE promo. Stetson is playing loose because he is already a hero, and Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken has finally opened up the offense, going from the Stone Age to the Renaissance in a split second.
We always say on Crain &amp; Co. that a team’s ability to not only win the big one but to also stay on top in college football is defined by three pillars: recruiting, development and culture. If you don’t have  the top talent, you can’t make it; if you don’t develop that talent, you waste it; and if you don’t have a strong locker room culture, there is no way to maintain it. 
Alabama has been doing those three things beautifully for a long while now. Kirby took the blueprint from Saban and 3D-printed it at Georgia. The Bulldogs are now a machine that swallows up the top-tier high school recruits and puts them in a system that maximizes their abilities. The highest goal of a coach is to get the most out of each player on the roster, from star quarterback to walk-on.
Dabo Swinney has followed that same model at Clemson, which is one of the main reasons why they can actually win when they go up against Goliath. The best way to take down Goliath isn’t with a slingshot—it is with size, speed and execution. Ryan Day and Ohio State are also right there when it comes to achieving the perfect mix and having a team capable of knocking down the door. They looked a little slow out of the gate, but there is plenty of time and Day has a way of fixing problems throughout the season.
The top two teams both have added motivations — ’Bama wants to avenge last year and smell the crisp college football mountaintop air, while Georgia wants to prove they weren’t a one-hit wonder. The season is young and a lot can happen, but it seems like we are heading for another ’Bama-UGA collision, unless one of the teams on the periphery with capable athletes can make a big jump quickly. 
We are off to a great start to the college football season and I don’t want to put a governor on the excitement, but it seems like it may be Groundhog Day &#8211; again.

Sororities at the University of Alabama, rejecting current political correctness, stuck together as they opposed a biological male attempting to join their groups.
University of Alabama student Grant Sikes stated he attempted to join the sororities but was unanimously rejected. According to Outkick, Sikes posted his quest on TikTok, accruing several million views, but the sororities dismissed the idea of a man joining their groups.
“Unfortunately, this chapter is closed,” Sikes complained on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/ChNP2kcOYap/">Instagram</a>. “This recruitment journey is over for me. Being dropped from my last house this morning during primary recruitment at the University of Alabama doesn’t come as a surprise considering out of the almost 20 chapters – I was dropped by every single one except 2 before day 1.”
“I’m hopeful of a future where everyone is welcomed for just being themselves – everywhere,” he preached. “If you are going through a hard time today, remember that life is too short to ponder on the things lost. Sports commentator Clay Travis <a href="https://www.outkick.com/biological-male-attempts-to-join-alabama-sorority-runs-into-problems/">reacted</a> to the sororities standing firm: “Roll Tide. Good for them for standing up to this absurdity. Good for the women at the University of Alabama for the people who are advising them; for them being willing to stand up, to be called ‘transphobic’ or whatever you want to say. I can&#8217;t believe I have to say this: Men should not be able to be members of Alabama sororities.”
“And by the way, if you are a straight guy living in a sorority house, surrounded by smoking hot chicks, not the worst thing,” he quipped. “If you were a straight guy at the University of Alabama and you were an undergrad, and you got the opportunity to live in a sorority house, that’s cooking with grease. That’s pretty smart.”
As far back as 2016, a sorority at Tufts University, Alpha Omicron Pi <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/sorority-wants-include-female-identifying-men-pardes-seleh/">offered a membership</a> to 19-year-old Harper Hopkins, a biological male; the sorority’s national office was reluctant to offer membership. Cosmopolitan Magazine <a href="http://www.cosmopolitan.com/sex-love/a8262963/half-of-a-sorority-in-massachusetts-has-quit-to-protest-transgender-exclusion/">ran</a> the story, denouncing the sorority as “inherently transphobic.”
The international sorority later apologized for hesitating and approved Hopkins&#8217; membership. Alpha Omicron Pi’s interim president, Amanda Wisti, stated that the sorority’s policy change on transgender students included changing “woman” to “female-identifying.”

Houston Texans rookie wide receiver John Metchie III announced on Sunday that medical professionals diagnosed him with leukemia and would likely keep him off the field this season.
&#8220;Recently, I was diagnosed with APL (Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia), the most curable form of Leukemia,&#8221; Metchie <a href="https://twitter.com/HoustonTexans/status/1551258612273643521">said</a> on Twitter. &#8220;I am currently receiving great medical care, am in good spirits, and I expect to make a recovery at a later point in time.&#8221;
Medical experts say APL develops mainly in middle-aged individuals around 40 years old from an increase in immature white blood cells known as promyelocytes. Malignant cells overcrowd the bone marrow and eventually fail to produce normal blood cells for functionality.
<a href="https://www.lls.org/sites/default/files/National/USA/Pdf/Publications/APL_FactSheet_10_15FINAL.pdf">The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society</a> reports APL is the most curable form of the type of cancer, with cure rates of around 90 percent.
Metchie&#8217;s diagnosis joins about 600 to 800 individuals in the United States that variety of cancer affects yearly.
&#8220;As a result of this diagnosis, I will likely not be playing football this season,&#8221; he said. &#8220;My main focus will be on my health and recovery.&#8221;
Houston&#8217;s professional football team drafted the 22-year-old rookie with the No. 44 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama. The deal reportedly would sign Metchie to an $8.07 million four-year contract with a $3.049 million signing bonus.
ESPN <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34289700/houston-texans-wr-john-metchie-iii-diagnosed-leukemia">reports</a> Metchie had 96 catches for 1,142 yards and eight touchdowns last season at Alabama before tearing his ACL in the SEC championship game in December, where Alabama defeated Georgie 41-24.
Metchie&#8217;s announcement received an overwhelming number of sports community members offering prayer and support for his recovery.
&#8220;Prayers from the heart to one of the toughest guys I know,&#8221; Josh Gattis, the University of Miami offensive coordinator, said on <a href="https://twitter.com/Coach_Gattis/status/1551319951864205312">Twitter</a>. &#8220;Someone that has sacrificed so much will always continue to overcome obstacles ahead! You are Strong!&#8221;
ESPN senior writer Ryan McGee <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNMcGee/status/1551273345403994113">said</a> it&#8217;s &#8220;impossible not to like this guy if you&#8217;ve ever met him.&#8221;
&#8220;All the best to Metch during his fight and recovery,&#8221; he said.
Nick Saban, football coach at the University of Alabama, said the team would stand behind Metchie every step in his fight against leukemia.
&#8220;John has overcome every challenge placed in front of him in his life with toughness and determination,&#8221; Saban <a href="https://twitter.com/AlabamaFTBL/status/1551316324990832642">said</a>. &#8220;It&#8217;s a blessing that he is in a city known for great medical care and with an organization, in the Houston Texans, who will be with him throughout this journey.&#8221;
&#8220;Our thoughts and prayers will remain with him throughout this battle,&#8221; he added.
Metchie extended his appreciation for the support and well-wishes from his fans and community.
&#8220;I cannot wait to come back stronger than ever,&#8221; he said. &#8220;God bless.&#8221;

An adopted <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/children">13-year-old prodigy</a> has been accepted into <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/health-care">medical school</a> after completing <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/high-school">high school</a> at age 12.
Alena Analeigh Wicker was accepted into the University of Alabama’s Heersink School of Medicine in the fall of 2024 after applying for the school&#8217;s Early Assurance Program. Wicker is currently enrolled in both Arizona State University and Oakwood University, where is she earning two separate undergraduate biology degrees. Despite her academic success, Wicker insists that she is just like any other teenager.
“I’m still a normal 13-year-old,” Alena <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/2022/07/20/alena-analeigh-wicker-college-stem/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=wp_main">told</a> The Washington Post. “I just have extremely good time management skills and I’m very disciplined.”
Wicker&#8217;s adoptive mother explained to The Post that she began noticing that Wicker was different from other children at a very young age.
“Alena was gifted,” Wicker&#8217;s mother, Daphne McQuarter, said. “It was just how she did things and how advanced she was. She was reading chapter books&#8221; at three years old, McQuarter added.
To that extent, the teenager told The Post, &#8220;What is age?&#8221;
&#8220;You’re not too young to do anything,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I feel like I have proven to myself that I can do anything that I put my heart and mind to.&#8221;
Wicker was pulled from a traditional school after being bullied by a classmate for her achievements. She was homeschooled for a few years, but in fifth grade she returned back to the classroom before the pandemic hit.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, her school switched to virtual learning and Wicker decided to take on additional courses far above her grade level.
“I was bored,&#8221; she told The Post. &#8220;The high school work was so easy for me that I ended up graduating from high school at 12 years old.&#8221;
Wicker said she initially thought she wanted to be an engineer, but took one college class and knew it was not for her.
&#8220;I wasted no time. I dropped a class, changed my major, and when I took my first biological class, I knew in that moment that this is what I’m supposed to be doing,” she explained.
“A big part of what I want to do is viral immunology, and I want to advocate for underrepresented communities that lack health care,” Wicker added. “It’s something that I’ve become passionate about.”
Wicker, who is black, founded Brown STEM Girl — an organization dedicated toward helping female minorities get involved in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.
Wicker&#8217;s advice for any young girl is, &#8220;Never give up on you, never let someone tell you that you can’t do something.&#8221;
The 13-year-old knows that completing college by 2024 and enrolling in medical school will be a difficult task, but says she knows that she has a &#8220;huge support system around me that pushes me and cheers me on.&#8221;
“I love school, I love learning, I love reading,&#8221; she also told The Post.

It took nearly three quarters, but Alabama and Georgia gave college football fans everywhere a phenomenal finish to the 2021 season. 
In a defensive slugfest turned classic, Georgia won its first championship since 1980, beating Nick Saban and Alabama 33-18. 
&#8220;How about this university? How about these fans? This is a special moment for the University of Georgia, a special moment for this team,&#8221; Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said in his postgame interview.
Late in the third quarter in Indianapolis, Georgia’s offense hadn’t done a thing. 188 yards and two field goals was all they had managed as Alabama held a 9-6 lead. As the Crimson Tide lined up for another field goal attempt, Georgia needed a spark, and it was the defense that carried them all year long that gave it to them. 
Jalen Carter blocked Will Reichard’s 48-yard field goal attempt, the third blocked field goal of the year for Georgia. On the very next play, Georgia running back James Cook broke free for a 67-yards, setting up the first touchdown of the game by either team. Zamir White punched it in from a yard out, giving Georgia their first lead of the game.  
Following a Crimson Tide field goal, it was Alabama’s turn to make a play defensively. 
On third-and-8 from the Georgia 27-yard line, Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett attempted to throw the ball away as he was being taken down for a sack. Referees ruled it a fumble on the field, with the ball recovered by Alabama at the Georgia 16-yard line. The play was reviewed, with the call on the field standing as called.

Georgia’s offense responded immediately, taking a 19-18 lead on a 40-yard touchdown from Bennett to wide receiver Adonai Mitchell.

A 15-yard touchdown pass to Brock Bowers put Georgia up 26-18, and then it was time for the best defense in the country to put their stamp on the season.
The Heisman trophy winner — without injured wide receivers Jameson Williams and John Metchie — finally made a mistake, culminating in a 79-yard interception return for a touchdown by Kelee Ringo.

It was sweet revenge for Georgia, bouncing back from a 41-24 loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. The nation&#8217;s best defense was embarrassed in their first loss of the season, giving up 536 total yards while allowing Young to pick them apart. Young finished the SEC Championship Game 26-44 for 421 yards and three touchdowns, moving Saban to 4-0 against Kirby Smart. 
There were calls for Smart to start JT Daniels — Georgia&#8217;s starting quarterback to begin the season — as the College Football Playoff approached, but Smart stuck with Bennett, and his faith in the former walk-on paid off.
&#8220;I hope it gives someone a little hope,&#8221; Bennett said when asked what his story says to all the underdogs looking to accomplish what he did at Georgia. &#8220;Just keep fighting, keep your mouth shut, work hard. Life&#8217;s tough. You just have to fight through it.&#8221;
