For the first time since the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, Savannah Guthrie&#8217;s 84-year-old mother, Savannah and her two siblings have spoken out.
In a video released Wednesday night, Savannah and her brother and sister pleaded with the perpetrator for proof of life of their mother, who appears to have been taken from her home outside of Tucson, Arizona.
&#8220;We too have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media,&#8221; Savannah said. &#8220;As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please reach out to us.&#8221;
Savannah and her sister, Annie, and brother, Camron, then spoke directly to their mother.
&#8220;Mommy if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman,&#8221; Savannah said. &#8220;You are God&#8217;s precious daughter, Nancy.We believe and know that even in this valley, He is with you. Everyone is looking for you, Mommy, everywhere. We will not rest. Your children will not rest until we are together again. We speak to you every moment and we pray without ceasing. And we rejoice in advance for the day that we hold you in our arms again.&#8221;
&#8220;Mama if you are listening we need you to come home, we miss you,&#8221; Annie said.
The siblings said in the video Nancy is in constant pain and needs medicine to survive and not suffer.
After the release of the video, Nancy Grace told Fox News the ransom notes that officials are looking into need to be taken seriously. The veteran crime journalist, who previously worked with Savannah at Court TV said Savannah knows the law like the back of her hand and wouldn&#8217;t make a plea to the perpetrator if she didn&#8217;t think something in the letter was accurate.

The search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of &#8220;The Today Show&#8221; host, Savannah Guthrie, enters day four — and as each new twist emerges, the case seems to get even more disturbing.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos wouldn&#8217;t confirm the legitimacy of three ransom notes, each sent to a separate news outlet — but said on Tuesday that he was “absolutely not” dismissing them.
The first note was sent to a local news station in Arizona. Nanos said authorities were made aware Monday and they let the family know as well.
“When the note comes to us, it’s like any piece of evidence,” Nanos told CBS News. “You give it to us. You give us a lead. We’re going to look at every aspect of that lead and work it as a lead.”
Entertainment site <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2026/02/03/nancy-guthrie-alleged-ransom-note-bitcoin-millions/">TMZ</a> and local Arizona news stations KGUN and <a href="https://www.kold.com/2026/02/03/we-gotta-find-her-dna-samples-taken-nancy-guthries-home-belong-her-pcsd-says/">KOLD</a> have each reported receiving a note about Nancy Guthrie — and each note laid out a similar demand: millions in Bitcoin.
A statement from <a href="https://www.kgun9.com/us-news/crime/please-pray-savannah-guthrie-releases-first-statement-since-mom-went-missing">KGUN</a> said the note had included a deadline, saying that the cryptocurrency had to be received by Thursday — and if it was not received by Monday, the note&#8217;s author threatened to kill Nancy.
Several of the notes, according to reports, specifically referenced two pieces of evidence found at the crime scene — but the news outlets have not confirmed that information to be legitimate.

“We are aware of reports circulating about possible ransom note(s) regarding the investigation into Nancy Guthrie. We are taking all tips and leads very seriously,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement Tuesday.
In addition to the ransom notes, Pima County Sheriff&#8217;s Office officials are addressing reports of a suspect in the case.
Independent journalist Ashleigh Banfield said she has sources close to the case that are saying Savannah&#8217;s brother-in-law, Tammaso Cioni, may be the prime suspect in the case. Banfield added that Savannah&#8217;s sister, Annie, who is married to Cioni, has had her car towed and is being treated as evidence.
The sheriff&#8217;s department quickly told <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2026/02/04/savannah-guthrie-brother-in-law-prime-suspect-nancy-kidnapping/">TMZ</a> Wednesday, &#8220;we have not identified a suspect or person of interest in this case.&#8221;
Officials said that detectives continue to speak with anyone who may have had contact with Mrs. Guthrie and &#8220;are also awaiting additional forensic results.&#8221;
In regard to the impounded car, TMZ quoted the department as saying, &#8220;We are not confirming the car being seized, we are unsure where that reporter is getting that information.&#8221;
The ransom notes add a strange twist to the forensic evidence and tips officials are already reviewing. While not much has been confirmed about the crime, reporters described an apparent blood trail at the scene Tuesday on Nancy&#8217;s front porch, along with a missing doorbell camera.
The sheriff said the footage from cameras at the house is being processed. The neighborhood of Catalina Hills, where Nancy lives, is very secluded, with no street lights and no sidewalks. A CNN reporter explained that anyone attempting to get to Nancy&#8217;s house would have to wind through several different roads.
The tranquility of the area is what drew Nancy to put down roots in Tucson. On &#8220;The Today Show&#8221; in November, she said, “The quality of life is laid back and gentle.&#8221;
As authorities search for anyone connected with Nancy&#8217;s disappearance, President Donald Trump spoke with her daughter Savannah on Wednesday. A White House official told Fox News Digital on Wednesday afternoon that Trump had called and was able to speak with Guthrie, but the official didn&#8217;t give any further details on the conversation.
Trump said Tuesday he would offer federal assistance to help locate Nancy. The President called the case &#8220;very unusual&#8221; and &#8220;terrible.&#8221;
Nancy was reported missing around 11 am local time on Sunday morning after she didn&#8217;t show up for church.
Pima County Sheriff&#8217;s Office officials said there is no reason to believe the 84-year-old isn&#8217;t alive.

Entertainment outlet TMZ received an unverified ransom letter that demands millions in bitcoin for the release of Nancy Guthrie, the missing 84-year-old mother of “The Today Show” host Savannah Guthrie.
<a href="https://www.tmz.com/2026/02/03/nancy-guthrie-alleged-ransom-note-bitcoin-millions/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TMZ</a> got the note Tuesday morning and reported that it demands the cryptocurrency be sent to a specific Bitcoin address. TMZ verified the Bitcoin address is real. There is a deadline connected to the alleged ransom&#8230; in addition to an &#8220;element of or else.&#8221;
The outlet reports the note also described an item that was damaged at her Tucson-area home in Catalina Hills. TMZ contacted authorities at the Pima County Sheriff&#8217;s Office.

At a press conference Tuesday morning, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos didn&#8217;t have an update; instead, he went straight to fielding questions.
When asked about blood in the home, which several outlets reported on Tuesday, citing anonymous sources, Nanos said he couldn&#8217;t provide verification. Nanos didn&#8217;t say whether officials believe Guthrie was targeted or the crime was random.

Officials haven&#8217;t reviewed any camera footage yet as the cameras are still being processed. The front camera on Nancy&#8217;s house is notably not in the holder anymore — but Nanos said Tuesday he currently has no plan to release the footage even after it has been reviewed.
Authorities also said the crime scene at Nancy&#8217;s house has been cleared and turned over to the family. <a href="https://x.com/BrianEntin/status/2018798856734183528?s=20">NewsNation</a> showed video Tuesday evening of what appeared to be blood spots on the front steps of Nancy&#8217;s home.
Former police captain and Byrna Law Enforcement Director Joshua Schirard said that, in his experience, clearing crime scenes can sometimes take weeks.
&#8220;So to clear a crime scene in the matter of 24 hours or less tells me that there&#8217;s a little bit more targeted search than they&#8217;re letting on,&#8221; Schirard said. &#8220;Either that or there just is nothing to process there, which is kind of hard to believe at this point. I think that moving forward, we&#8217;re going to see that hopefully that they&#8217;ve identified at least a person of interest at this point and are trying to verify that with the physical evidence that they found on the scene.&#8221;
The scene at Nancy&#8217;s home was described by authorities as &#8220;concerning.&#8221; Still, because of the ongoing investigation, Nanos wouldn&#8217;t give any description of what made the house a crime scene.

Officials are still encouraging the public to call in anything suspicious in the area of Catalina Hills from late Saturday into Sunday morning.
Time is of the essence in this investigation as Nancy cannot go more than 24 hours without her medication, per authorities.
The FBI is on site now helping local authorities. Assistant Special Agent in Charge for the FBI in Tucson, John Edwards, said the FBI is doing everything in its power to bring Nancy home. The agency is analyzing cell phone data and cell tower information, assisting with interviews, and providing local authorities with analytical and technical support.
The Sheriff assured reporters at the Tuesday presser that if anything major happens in the case, there will be another media briefing, but the plan is to hold another press conference Thursday.
President Trump commented on the situation in the White House Tuesday, saying, &#8220;I think it’s a terrible thing. I always got along very good with Savannah. Very unusual situation, but we’re going to find out.&#8221;

Today Show host Savannah Guthrie is asking everyone to pray for her mother&#8217;s return as the search for Nancy Guthrie continues.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said he believes Nancy Guthrie was taken from her home over the weekend in a &#8220;possible kidnapping or abduction&#8221; just outside of Tucson, Arizona. Nanos told <a href="https://www.today.com/news/savannah-guthrie-mom-missing-arizona-rcna257021">NBC News</a> on Monday that Nancy was taken from her bed, but he later clarified he meant figuratively.
Information remains limited during the active investigation, which Nanos is calling a crime. Sources told <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/savannah-guthrie-mother-nancy-blood-home/">CBS News</a> on Tuesday that blood was found in Nancy&#8217;s home. It&#8217;s not clear whose blood it is, but CBS reports it is being tested.
Nanos confirmed that possible DNA is being tested as well.
&#8220;We took some samples that we hope will have enough profile of a DNA profile that gives us some identification of what we’re looking at,&#8221; Nanos told NBC News.

The sheriff added it could be days before there is any conclusive evidence from the DNA samples.
In another development, the <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2026-02-03/blood-inside-home-nancy-guthrie-today-host-savannah-guthrie-mother">Los Angeles Times</a> is reporting signs of forced entry into Nancy&#8217;s house.
Meanwhile, Savannah Guthrie spoke out on Instagram late Monday, asking for prayers to bring her mom home, as this troubling case unfolds.
&#8220;We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him,&#8221; Savannah wrote.
&#8220;Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment. We need you.&#8221;
The Today Show host added the following Bible verse, &#8220;He will keep in perfect peace those whose hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord,&#8221; before concluding, &#8220;Bring her home.&#8221;
Savannah&#8217;s mother was reported missing on Sunday, around noon, after a church friend called Nancy&#8217;s family, letting them know she didn&#8217;t show up for service.

The sheriff added that Nancy isn’t in good physical health but has &#8220;no cognitive issues,&#8221; is &#8220;very alert,&#8221; and is &#8220;very sound of mind.&#8221;
Police do not know at this time if Nancy was targeted because she is Savannah’s mother, and added they aren&#8217;t aware of threats aimed at Savannah after speaking with her, per NBC.
Nanos said in a press conference on Monday that he doesn&#8217;t think the public is in danger.
&#8220;So we make a plea to anyone who knows anything about this, who has seen something, heard something, to contact us,&#8221; Nanos said. &#8220;Call 911. We don’t need another bad, tragic ending. We need some help.&#8221;
Pima County Sheriff&#8217;s Office officials are holding a press conference on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. ET to give an update on this case.

‘Bring Her Home’: Savannah Guthrie Pleads For Mother’s Return After ‘Abduction’

A former Charlotte Hornets guard is showing some regret about heading to the NBA after one year of college basketball.
Former UCLA standout Amari Bailey is testing the murky waters of college eligibility after playing just 10 games in the NBA.
Bailey, who was drafted by the Hornets in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft, is seeking college eligibility, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/47780686/amari-bailey-10-games-nba-seeks-college-eligibility">ESPN</a>. He would be the first to go back to the NCAA ranks after playing in the NBA, but the outlet reports Bailey&#8217;s goal is to play one more collegiate season.
&#8220;Right now I&#8217;d be a senior in college,&#8221; the 21-year-old told ESPN. &#8220;I&#8217;m not trying to be 27 years old playing college athletics. No shade to the guys that do; that&#8217;s their journey. But I went to go play professionally and learned a lot, went through a lot. So, like, why not me?&#8221;
ESPN reports Bailey has hired an agent and a lawyer and is prepared to challenge the NCAA in court. Bailey left UCLA after one season when he averaged 11.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game during his freshman campaign.
So why go back now? After one season with the Hornets, Bailey joined the Brooklyn Nets organization, but ESPN indicated he was cut last summer by the Nets. He hasn&#8217;t played a single game this season.
&#8220;It&#8217;s not a stunt,&#8221; Bailey said to ESPN. &#8220;I&#8217;m really serious about going back. I just want to improve my game, change the perception of me and just show that I can win.&#8221;
The state of college basketball has been at the forefront of some of the biggest names in the sport. Houston coach Kelvin Sampson said last October that college basketball is nothing but transactional these days.
&#8220;We&#8217;re still in an educational institution, but there is nothing educational about college basketball right now. It&#8217;s all transactional. And we all put our heads in the sand,&#8221; Sampson <a href="https://x.com/ChrisYBaldwin/status/1981114982474654121">said</a>.
Bailey&#8217;s fight to play college hoops again comes after another fellow 2023 second-round pick, James Nnaji, joined Baylor&#8217;s team. NCAA president Charlie Baker said the NCAA &#8220;has not and will not grant eligibility to any prospective or returning student-athletes who have signed an NBA contract (including a two-way contract).&#8221;
Unlike Bailey, Nnaji never signed an NBA contract. He only played during NBA Summer League games last year after spending years with the FC Barcelona basketball team.
In Tuscaloosa, Charles Bediako returned to play for Alabama after playing for the Crimson Tide during the 2022-2023 season. He ended up going undrafted, but did sign a two-way deal with the San Antonio Spurs in 2023.
How did he get around the NCAA rules? A judge granted a temporary restraining order to allow Bediako to return to Alabama and play for the Crimson Tide.
Bailey is aiming for a return next season, per ESPN, provided his potential team petitions the NCAA for a waiver to allow him to play. If that waiver is denied, Bailey and his legal team can file a lawsuit.

The lineup for &#8220;The All-American Halftime Show&#8221; was announced Monday. Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett will take the stage in a show TPUSA says will celebrate faith, family, and freedom.

He said he’s having a dance party, wearing a dress, and singing in Spanish? Cool. We plan to play great songs for folks who love America.&#8221;
Kid Rock said on The Charlie Kirk Show on Monday that half of the United States is &#8220;underserved&#8221; entertainment-wise.
This show will air during Super Bowl LX&#8217;s official halftime show featuring Latin music star Bad Bunny, who won &#8220;Album of the Year&#8221; at the Grammys on Sunday. The singer&#8217;s selection has sparked significant backlash from many conservatives, including President Donald Trump. Bad Bunny has been critical of the Trump administration&#8217;s illegal immigrant crackdown and refused to tour in the United States last year because he said he didn&#8217;t want ICE raiding his concerts.
At the Grammys this past Sunday, Bad Bunny again criticized ICE.
&#8220;Before I say thanks to God, I&#8217;m going to say, &#8216;ICE out,'&#8221; Bad Bunny said.
Last fall, Trump took a jab at Bad Bunny, saying he didn&#8217;t know who the singer was after the NFL announced he would be performing at the Super Bowl LX halftime show.
&#8220;I don’t know who he is,&#8221; Trump told Newsmax. &#8220;I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.&#8221;
Trump definitely knows who Kid Rock is. The &#8220;Bawitdaba&#8221; singer is a close pal and golfing buddy of the president. Kid Rock also performed at the last Republican National Convention.
&#8220;The All-American Halftime Show&#8221; will allow viewers to be up close and personal with the performance, Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet told Fox News Digital.
&#8220;&#8216;The All-American Halftime Show&#8217; is an opportunity for all Americans to enjoy a halftime show with no agenda other than to celebrate faith, family, and freedom,&#8221; Kolvet said. &#8220;We can’t wait to watch the incredible show they’re about to put on. We know millions around the country will be watching too.&#8221;
Barrett, who placed third on Season 16 of American Idol, recently sang at the White House Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
The star-studded show is expected to start around 8 p.m. ET on February 8. The Daily Wire will air the show on its platform. TPUSA will also stream the concert on its YouTube channel and X account.
Super Bowl LX is being held in Santa Clara, California, at Levi&#8217;s Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers.
The battle between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots kicks off Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET.

The Today Show&#8217;s Savannah Guthrie delivers the news to millions every morning, but her own life became the headline when her mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing on Sunday from her Arizona home outside of Tucson, Arizona.
Local authorities called off the search and rescue mission Monday morning and are now investigating Nancy&#8217;s house as a crime scene.
&#8220;We do in fact have a crime scene, we do in fact have a crime,&#8221; Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said at the press conference Monday.
Evidence gathered during the ongoing investigation in the 84-year-old&#8217;s home suggests Nancy did not leave on her own. Authorities are reviewing camera footage at her house.
&#8220;So we make a plea to anyone who knows anything about this, who has seen something, heard something, to contact us,&#8221; Nanos said. &#8220;Call 911. We don&#8217;t need another bad, tragic ending. We need some help.&#8221;
Nanos said the community needs to check their cameras and see if they have seen anything that at first didn&#8217;t look suspicious, but now the Sheriff said you should know it is suspicious.
Authorities have Nancy&#8217;s cell phone, and officials added that her family, including Savannah, are in Arizona and fully cooperating with authorities.
The Sheriff added that Nancy isn&#8217;t in good physical health but has &#8220;no cognitive issues&#8221; and is &#8220;very alert&#8221; and &#8220;very sound of mind.&#8221;
Savannah released this statement on The Today Show on Monday.
“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” she said. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at (520) 351-4900.”
Nanos described Nancy as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds. The 84-year-old has brown hair and blue eyes. The last time her family saw her was at 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
Nanos said the family was alerted that Nancy wasn&#8217;t at church Sunday morning, and after a brief search for her, the family alerted authorities.
Nanos said the public is not in danger.
According to The Today Show, Savannah has often described her close relationship with her mother, and Nancy would make appearances on the national morning show from time to time. Per the outlet, her father, Charles, died when Savannah was 16 years old, leaving Nancy as a single mother of Savannah and her two siblings.
Nanos said when they get more information, they will let the public know.

A Florida couple has filed a lawsuit against a fertility clinic in Orlando after they realized the baby they&#8217;ve been raising wasn&#8217;t their own. Tiffany Score was allegedly implanted with another woman&#8217;s embryo last year during the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process.
According to <a href="https://www.fox35orlando.com/news/florida-couple-ifv-error-lawsuit-search-daughter-biological-parents-moral-obligation">Fox 35</a> in Orlando, the couple welcomed the baby girl in December, but became concerned after noticing that she appeared to be a different ethnicity than either parent. The couple wants to raise the baby, but their lawyer told The Daily Wire the main priority is finding her biological parents.
&#8220;We love our little girl, and if possible, we would hope to be able to continue to raise her ourselves with confidence that she won’t be taken away from us,&#8221; Steven Mills and Tiffany Score said in a statement. &#8220;At the same time, we are aware that we have a moral obligation to find and notify her biological parents as it is in her best interest that her genetic parents are provided the option to raise her as their own.&#8221;
Mills and Score are suing the Fertility Center of Orlando, as well as a physician, alleging the doctor implanted the wrong embryo, resulting in Score giving birth to a baby who is not genetically hers or her husband&#8217;s.
The mother underwent an embryo transfer in April of 2025 before giving birth in December. The lawsuit alleges the Fertility Center of Orlando implanted the wrong embryo five years after the couple had the mother&#8217;s embryos frozen.
The lawsuit states that the parents have formed an &#8220;intensely strong emotional bond&#8221; with the baby after Score carried and delivered the child, which the couple named Shea.
&#8220;Despite the certain knowledge that Shea is not their genetically matched child, the emotional bond grows stronger every minute of every day that Shea remains in their care,&#8221; the lawsuit said. &#8220;They would willingly keep her in their care; however, for the sake of both Shea and her genetic parents, they recognize that Shea should legally and morally be united with her genetic parents so long as they are fit, able and willing to take her.&#8221;
The couple&#8217;s attorneys are now seeking an emergency injunction, requiring the clinic to preserve records, notify other potentially affected patients, and begin immediate genetic testing for the clinic&#8217;s clients. The lawsuit, obtained by Fox News, states that Mills and Score are asking the clinic to pay for the genetic testing of every child born whose parents had embryos implanted at the clinic during the last five years.
&#8220;Of equal concern to the Plaintiffs is the obvious possibility that someone else was implanted with one or more of their embryos and is pregnant with or has been pregnant with and is presently parenting one or more of their children,&#8221; the lawsuit stated.
The fertility clinic released a statement to Fox 35, claiming officials are looking into this &#8220;error.&#8221;
&#8220;We are actively cooperating with an investigation to support one of our patients in determining the source of an error that resulted in the birth of a child who is not genetically related to them. Multiple entities are involved in this process, and all parties are working diligently to help identify when and where the error may have occurred. Our priority remains transparency and the well-being of the patient and child involved. We will continue to assist in any way that we can, regardless of the outcome of the investigation.&#8221;
Fox 35 spoke to legal experts who said that a child&#8217;s legal parents are typically the genetic mother and father, not the birth mother.

Lindsey Vonn&#8217;s epic Olympic comeback is in jeopardy after the legendary skier was airlifted after crashing during a World Cup race in Switzerland on Friday.
Vonn said she injured her left knee while competing at the Crans Montana World Cup. Vonn was making a turn when she lost control and crashed. She was able to limp off the course to a medical tent for evaluation before having to be airlifted in a harness.
&#8220;I am discussing the situation with my doctors and team and will continue to undergo further exams,&#8221; Vonn said Friday. &#8220;This is a very difficult outcome one week before the Olympics &#8230; but if there&#8217;s one thing I know how to do, it&#8217;s a comeback.&#8221;
The 41-year-old was poised to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics, which begin next Friday in Italy. Vonn made a comeback last season after spending nearly six years away from the sport. The Olympic gold medalist is scheduled to compete February 8 in the women&#8217;s downhill for her first Olympic event. She is also set to compete in the super-G and the new team combined event.
&#8220;My Olympic dream is not over,&#8221; Vonn added. &#8220;Thank you to all the medical staff who helped me today &#8230; it&#8217;s not over until it&#8217;s over.&#8221;
Vonn&#8217;s coach told <a href="https://www.reuters.com/sports/vonn-crashes-crans-montana-downhill-2026-01-30/">Reuters</a> that the skier was in some pain after the incident.
&#8220;She has some pain so it&#8217;s better to have some checks, the physio did some checks they seemed ok but there were things he was not 100% sure so it was good to have it checked (at the hospital),&#8221; Aksel Lund Svindal said.
The rest of the World Cup race was called off because of the worsening conditions in Switzerland and several crashes on top of Vonn&#8217;s accident.
“The main reason is the safety of the athletes,&#8221; Women&#8217;s World Cup Director Pete Gerdol said after calling off the competition. &#8220;The visibility was getting worse and worse, they couldn’t see the race line properly and it caused mistakes. We saw six athletes starting and all six had some mistakes. This was a sign that it was a high-risk situation. We know that our sport is a risky sport, but the feeling was too much risk. That’s why the Jury decided to stop the race.”
Before Friday&#8217;s injury, Vonn was having a successful 2025-2026 campaign on the slopes. In December, she won her first skiing World Cup since her comeback. Her last title before that was in 2018, but she didn&#8217;t have to wait long at all to find the top spot again. Earlier in January, Vonn won another World Cup in Austria, bringing her total World Cup victories to 84.
The accolades mounting during her comeback tour are why Vonn was a strong favorite heading into this year&#8217;s games. If she is able to recover for the Olympics, it will have to be speedy. The practice runs for the downhill start Wednesday.

As thousands of Nashville residents in Davidson County remain in the cold and dark without power as single-digit temperatures fast approach this weekend, many, including country star John Rich, are now wondering what went wrong. Friday will be day six without power for 71,000 Nashville Electric Service (NES) customers after Winter Storm Fern.
The singer, who cofounded the duo Big &amp; Rich, said what&#8217;s happening in Nashville is &#8220;very California.&#8221;
&#8220;This is incompetence on a level kind of like what you saw in California when they didn&#8217;t have enough water to put out the fires,&#8221; Rich said on <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6388545727112">Fox News</a> Friday morning.
California had fire hydrants running dry during the devastating wildfires in 2025, the Los Angeles Times <a href="https://www.latimes.com/environment/story/2025-12-17/la-fires-water-system">reported</a>. For many, that failure fell squarely on California leadership.
NES CEO Teresa Broyles-Aplin said last August she was focused on saving Nashville&#8217;s tree &#8220;canopy&#8221; instead of trimming trees that were too close to power lines. Yet another example of leadership failure as Davidson County continues to have the highest power <a href="https://poweroutage.us/area/state/tennessee">outages</a> in the state.

Rich made it clear during his interview that he is thankful to the lineman working to help restore power. His anger is directed at Nashville&#8217;s Democratic mayor, Freddie O&#8217;Connell.
&#8220;We have a mayor here in Nashville, a hard-core leftist guy, and they&#8217;ve decided that they aren&#8217;t going to do any interviews or press conferences through the weekend as the temperatures go down to four and five degrees,&#8221; Rich said.
&#8220;I&#8217;ve just reminded a lot of my Democrat friends &#8230; I said, well, &#8216;You get what you vote for here in Nashville. Maybe next time you put some people in office who actually think ahead.'&#8221;
NES said Friday morning that more than 1,000 linemen are working to restore power for more than 70,000 households still in the cold and dark. To put it in perspective, Duke Energy deployed 18,000 crew members to respond to power outages in <a href="https://wlos.com/news/local/winter-ice-storm-looms-duke-energy-deploys-18000-crews-100-trucks-asheville-western-north-carolina-safety-power-electricity-heating-technology-community-hurricane-helene-grid">North Carolina</a>, bringing in linemen from as far as Canada.
An anonymous member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union told <a href="https://fox17.com/news/local/nashville-electric-service-accused-of-rejecting-help-amid-massive-power-outages-nes-winter-storm-middle-tennessee-union-memebers">Fox 17</a> in Nashville that, at a minimum, NES should have 2,000 crew members working to restore power.
NES was pressed on Thursday about the number of linemen working while other cities with fewer outages have larger crews.
&#8220;This storm is different,&#8221; NES Executive Vice President Brent Baker said. &#8220;This ice storm is significant. This is the most people NES has ever onboarded onto the system. This storm was bigger than what was even expected &#8230; Nashville was slammed. Poles were broken like toothpicks. Trees exploded, landing on top of our infrastructure, on top of the wires.&#8221;

Bad Bunny is getting ready to perform the halftime show at the Super Bowl — arguably one of the country&#8217;s most American events — but the Puerto Rican singer doesn&#8217;t seem too fond of his roots.
Bad Bunny notably didn&#8217;t stand for &#8220;God Bless the USA&#8221; at a Yankees game last fall and refused to tour in the United States this year after he said he didn&#8217;t want ICE raiding his concert venues. The global superstar has been critical of President Donald Trump, while the Trump administration has made it clear there is a lack of excitement from their end for Bad Bunny&#8217;s performance.
Despite that, it seems there will be enough patriotism to go around at Super Bowl LX as both teams honor America&#8217;s 250th anniversary. The Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots will face off with red, white, and blue patches that read &#8220;USA 250&#8221; on the front of their jerseys when the teams take the field on February 8 at Levi&#8217;s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
The NFL unveiled the uniforms on Thursday. The USA 250 patch will be on the right side of the Patriots jersey with the Super Bowl LX logo on the left.

Despite being the designated &#8220;away&#8221; team, the Seahawks will don their home navy uniforms. The Patriots will wear white.
The teams&#8217; jerseys aren&#8217;t the only place the United States will be honored during America&#8217;s biggest football game. &#8220;America 250&#8221; will be stenciled on the sidelines of Levi&#8217;s Stadium for the big game, just as the NFL has done each week since Week 18 of the season.
The game balls and the ceremonial coins used during the pre-game toss and overtime (if necessary) will also have America 250 logos. Per the NFL, the coins will be auctioned off for charity on the NFL Auction platform.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says football represents America.
&#8220;The NFL is proud to participate in celebrating America&#8217;s 250th anniversary,&#8221; said Goodell. &#8220;The story of the NFL reflects the story of America, and the American spirit of resilience, innovation and teamwork has helped football grow into a cultural pastime that unites us all. We are excited to honor our country&#8217;s history and celebrate our collective future.&#8221;
Last fall, Goodell <a href="https://www.nfl.com/news/commissioner-roger-goodell-bad-bunny-s-super-bowl-halftime-show-not-being-reconsidered">said</a> he would not reconsider his choice of Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl halftime show even amid significant backlash, saying it was &#8220;carefully thought through,&#8221; the Associated Press reported.
President Donald Trump called the decision &#8220;absolutely ridiculous.&#8221;
Goodell defended his choice, referring to Bad Bunny as &#8220;one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m not sure we&#8217;ve ever selected an artist where we didn&#8217;t have some blowback or criticism. It&#8217;s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching,&#8221; the NFL commissioner added.
America&#8217;s military will have a featured role in this year&#8217;s Super Bowl. The U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy are conducting a joint flyover during the pregame as part of the 250th celebrations. The formation will feature two Air Force B-1 Lancers from Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, and two F-15C Eagles from Fresno Air National Guard Base, California, alongside a pair of Navy F/A-18E Super Hornets and two F-35C Lightning IIs, from Naval Air Station Lemoore, California. The Secretary of the Air Force Public Affairs said the flyover is a symbol of the nation’s journey and independence.
The service members who are participating in the flyover will be on hand for community events in Santa Clara leading up to game day. Fans can view displays of aircraft, watch search and rescue demonstrations, and see backseat flights on the F/A-18F with community leaders.
The star-spangled-themed Super Bowl is another example of how the NFL has celebrated milestones in American history.
In 1976, the NFL celebrated America&#8217;s 200th anniversary with special helmet decals and jersey patches.
The Seahawks and Patriots square off Sunday, February 8, at 7:30 p.m. E.T.

San Jose State University was hit with a Title IX violation by the United States Department of Education after an investigation found that the school&#8217;s women&#8217;s volleyball team kept a male player on its roster from 2022 to 2024.
The university is now saying it&#8217;s &#8220;reviewing&#8221; the Education Department&#8217;s findings.
In a statement to <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/sjsu-responds-trump-admin-probe-found-university-violated-title-ix-trans-volleyball-player">Fox News</a>, San Jose State University said: &#8220;San Jose State, a member of the California State University system, received notification from the federal Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights regarding its investigation into athletics participation on our past women’s volleyball teams. The Department informed the University of the outcome of its investigation and its findings. The University is in the process of reviewing the Department’s findings and proposed resolution agreement. We remain committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive educational environment for all students while complying with applicable laws and regulations.&#8221;
The statement comes after the Department of Education concluded its investigation into the school on Wednesday.
&#8220;The U.S. Department of Education’s (ED) Office for Civil Rights (OCR) found that San José State University (SJSU) violated Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX),&#8221; the department said in a statement. &#8220;OCR concluded that SJSU’s policies allowing males to compete in women’s sports and access female-only facilities deny women equal educational opportunities and benefits.&#8221;
Blaire Fleming is a male who played on the women&#8217;s volleyball team at San Jose State. Fleming played both indoor and beach volleyball. Fleming&#8217;s background became news after multiple <a href="https://reduxx.info/exclusive-biological-male-quietly-joined-womens-ncaa-division-i-volleyball-at-san-jose-state-university/">outlets</a> reported SJSU allegedly tried to hide Fleming&#8217;s sex from teammates, coaches, and opponents.
The Office of Civil Rights said that the cover-up forced female athletes on San Jose&#8217;s volleyball team to share locker rooms and hotel rooms with a male.
In addition to the privacy concerns, there were also alarming safety concerns. The investigation alleges that Fleming spiked the ball so hard that it knocked women on the opposing team to the ground. During one season, seven all-women’s teams from other universities forfeited their competitions, accepting a loss rather than competing against a male.
When Fleming&#8217;s sex was made known to Brooke Slusser, the teammate of Fleming filed a lawsuit against the school and the NCAA for not informing her or her teammates that Fleming was a male. An assistant coach was suspended and not re-contracted after she filed a Title IX complaint over the school’s handling of the male player.

Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs or activities receiving federal financial assistance. United States Secretary of Education Linda McMahon said she will hold San Jose State accountable.
&#8220;San José State University caused significant harm to female athletes by allowing a male to compete on the women’s volleyball team— and when female athletes spoke out, SJSU retaliated,&#8221; McMahon said.
As a result of the university&#8217;s noncompliance, the Department of Education is requiring a list of <a href="https://www.ed.gov/about/news/press-release/us-department-of-educations-office-civil-rights-finds-san-jose-state-university-violated-title-ix">actions</a> to be taken, including a public statement from SJSU saying the university will adopt biology-based definitions of the words &#8220;male&#8221; and &#8220;female.&#8221;  The school will also acknowledge that the sex of a human, male or female, is unchangeable, and send an apology to players who were on the volleyball and beach volleyball teams with Fleming and any players who refused to compete against Fleming. In the apology, the university has to express sincere regret for placing female athletes in that position.
San Jose State University has 10 days to comply or risk “imminent enforcement action.”
“We will not relent until SJSU is held to account for these abuses and commits to upholding Title IX to protect future athletes from the same indignities,&#8221; Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Kimberly Richey said.
