Bill Maher came down hard on the liberal joke writers for “Saturday Night Live” over a skit they did in February which portrayed Trump supporters as racist.
The political commentator discussed his thoughts on the newest episode of Club Random, which featured fitness star Jillian Michaels as a guest. He was reacting to a skit with Tom Hanks from the “SNL” episode which features Hanks as a MAGA hat-wearing racist who wouldn’t shake the hand of a black man.
“I hated it, too, and I said it on my show. I know. I hated it,” Maher said. “Wearing the MAGA hat, not shaking hands with a black person. And that’s when I thought, ‘You people don’t know MAGA people.’”
“I mean, they have their issues and I certainly have my issues with them … of course, there’s some racists everywhere who are that bad, but generally, all the MAGA people I know have no problem shaking hands with a black person. You’re just hysterical and you’re not helping,” the podcast host continued.
Maher insisted again that it’s a “lie that MAGA people won’t shake hands” with a black person. “I get it, it’s part of a skit and it’s an exaggeration and that’s comedy. It’s a little too delicate a subject to go there,” he said.

“They probably think it’s great,” he said of the “SNL” writers. “As a liberal, I don’t like it. Again, because lying offends me. I’m a comedian, when the premise isn’t real, I can’t go with it. The premise doesn’t ring true. It might have rang true X years ago. It doesn’t now.”
Viewers on social media expressed similar sentiments about the skit when it first aired in February, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tom-hanks-bashed-for-playing-racist-trump-supporter-on-snl">reported</a>.
“This show wonders why their ratings are in the gutter. Trump won the popular vote. This tired trope that MAGA is racist is disgusting. SNL is an unfunny show,” one reaction said.
“For its 50 year anniversary special, SNL had Tom Hanks play a racist Trump supporter afraid to shake a black man’s hand. Fun fact: Trump’s 2024 election win was the LEAST racially divisive American election since 1964,” another person wrote.
“Hollywood still doesn’t get it: Portraying Trump supporters as racist caricatures while he’s winning record minority support. SNL’s trying 2016 jokes in 2025,” another person commented.

Country singer Morgan Wallen addressed the viral moment when he broke precedent and abruptly exited the stage of “Saturday Night Live” while the cast was still saying their goodbyes.
The 31-year-old celeb discussed the incident during an appearance on the podcast “Sundae Conversations with Caleb Pressley.”
“Could you fix a TV, if it was on SNL?” Pressley asked Wallen during a conversation about his handyman skills.
“I could change it for sure,” Wallen said with a chuckle.
“Seriously, SNL, did they make you mad?” the host asked.
Wallen replied, “No, no. I was just ready to go home. I’d been there all week.”
Pressley mentioned the country singer’s subsequent Instagram post of a private plane sitting on a runway which said, “Get to me to God’s country,” which Wallen recalled with a smile and a “yeah.”
The singer lives in Nashville, while “SNL” is taped in New York City.

“SNL” star Keenan Thompson addressed the moment during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“I don’t know what goes through people’s minds when they decide to do stuff like that. I don’t know if he understood the assignment or not, or if he was really feeling a certain kind of way,” Thompson told the outlet.
“It’s definitely a spike in the norm,” the longtime cast member added. “We’re so used to everybody just turning around and high-fiving us, everybody’s saying, ‘Good job, good job, good job.’ So when there’s a departure from that, it’s like, hmm, I wonder what that’s about?”
While Thompson admitted that other guests, including Prince, had been “standoffish,” he thought Wallen’s actions were a little more egregious. Later, the comedian also complained about Wallen’s Instagram post.
“The ‘God’s country’ of it all is strange because it’s like, what are you trying to say? You trying to say that we are not in God’s country? We’re not all in God’s country? We’re not all under God’s umbrella? That’s not necessarily my favorite,” Thompson added.

“Saturday Night Live” issued an apology for a skit the show did making fun of “The White Lotus” actress Aimee Lou Wood’s teeth, which have been a constant topic of conversation since season 3 of the popular HBO series debuted.
“SNL” addressed the issue during a skit called “The White Potus,” which was mostly making fun of their constant target, President Donald Trump. During one scene, actress Sarah Sherman was meant to portray Wood’s character on the show. Host Jon Hamm, playing Robert F. Kennedy Jr., asks what would happen to people’s teeth if he took all the fluoride out of the drinking water. 
The camera then pans to cast member Sherman, who is wearing exaggerated prosthetic gapped teeth, and replies, “Fluoride? What’s that?”

Wood later addressed the skit, saying in Instagram Stories that she found the skit “mean and unfunny.” 
In another post, the actress claimed she’s “not thin-skinned” and doesn’t mind jokes at her expense if they’re “clever and in good spirits.” But she said the joke about fluoride wasn’t that. 
“I have big gap teeth, not bad teeth,” the British star added.
Wood also insisted that most of that “SNL&#8221; skit was “punching up” because it involved mocking President Trump, his political advisers, and his family. She complained that only the joke about her was an example of being “punched down,” as reported by <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/aimee-lou-wood-white-lotus-snl-skit-teeth-experts_l_67fd35bfe4b09c14eff55690">HuffPost</a>.
On Tuesday, Wood posted a <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/04/16/entertainment/snl-hasnt-formally-apologized-to-aimee-lou-wood-for-white-lotus-parody/">photo of flowers</a> that Sherman allegedly sent her as a means of apologizing.
Reviews on the skit were mixed. Walton Goggins, who played Chelsea’s love interest, Rick, on “The White Lotus, reacted to the skit with a now-deleted comment that just said, “SMASHING.” Rumors have been circulating that he and Wood were not getting along.
Wood also mentioned in Stories that “SNL” has sent “apologies&#8221; to her, but a new <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2025/04/15/snl-aimee-lou-wood-no-formal-apology-white-lotus-parody-teeth/">report</a> from TMZ refutes that claim. Their insider said no formal apology has been made, even if individuals from the cast may have apologized.
The flowers and apologies come after photos of Wood crying in public while walking down the street with “House of the Dragon” actor Ralph Davis were posted Monday.
Wood later claimed she wasn’t &#8220;crying&#8221; about the “SNL” drama.
One fan wrote of the images, “Shame on SNL for their cruelty,” inspiring Wood to reply, “Thank you so much. Just to say, I actually wasn’t crying about anything that the papers made out &#8230; I was crying about something completely unrelated.”

The 31-year-old resident of Nashville performed two songs during Saturday night’s episode and stuck around until the gathering of cast members at the end, which usually involves hugs and waves to the audience. However, Wallen didn’t stick around for small talk, opting to walk off the stage and past a camera that captured his abrupt movements. 
“SNL” fans were quick to comment on Wallen&#8217;s untraditional exit, which is not the way guests and cast members usually wrap up their appearances.

Later, Wallen got even more attention when he posted a photo to Instagram Stories of what appeared to be a private jet ready to depart from the New York area. “Get me to God’s country,” the caption said, per <a href="https://variety.com/2025/music/news/morgan-wallen-snl-walk-off-gods-country-social-post-1236352063/">Variety</a>.
Fans were divided over the drama, arguing over whether it was an accidental faux pas or if Wallen was making a point by exiting the left-leaning show in what many considered a rude manner.
“Wow, Morgan Wallen just walking off the stage during the @nbcsnl credits? In decades of watching SNL, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that. For so many of us, that is sacred ground,” one reaction <a href="https://x.com/jefflocker/status/1906212761589383228">said</a>.

“SNL” writer Josh Patten joked about the whole debacle, posting a photo to his social media of a Krispy Kreme truck with the back doors open. He included the same caption Wallen used, writing, “Get me to God’s country,” per <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/snl-writer-morgan-wallen-post-1236176118/">The Hollywood Reporter</a>.
When one media outlet suggested that meant Patten was “not a Morgan Wallen fan,” the writer responded with an eye roll emoji and a screenshot of one of his playlists from 2023, which included some of Wallen’s music.

On Saturday, as “Saturday Night Live” celebrated its 50th anniversary, Tom Hanks was <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14404277/amp/SNL-Hollywood-actor-Tom-Hanks-portrayed-racist-Trump-supporter.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blasted</a> after reprising a role as a Trump supporter on “Black Jeopardy” who was seen as racist.
Wearing a red Make America Great Again hat again as “Doug,” a Trump supporter, Hanks answered a question correctly, then stated that if more people went to church, America would be better off. When Kenan Thompson, as host “Darnell Hayes,” crossed over to congratulate him on his answer, Hanks recoiled at first, then relented after Thompson said, “It’s only a handshake.”
Hanks&#8217; reluctance to shake Thompson’s hand struck many people as portraying Trump supporters as racist.
The show offered consistent gibes at President Donald Trump; in one sketch, parodying the song “I Dreamed A Dream” from “Les Miserables,” a member of the cast sang, “I dreamed a dream that King Kong died, then I remembered he&#8217;s in Florida.” In another sketch, actor Martin Short walked onstage, and comedian Steve Martin asked, “Do you have your passport on you? ICE, get him!” That prompted ICE employees to drag Short off the stage, yelling, “No! I&#8217;ll name names! Mike Myers! Jim Carrey!”
Weekend Update segment anchor Colin Jost quipped, “It is an honor and a thrill to be hosting Weekend Update for the 50th, and if it was up to our president, final season of SNL.”
In 2016, Hanks appeared on “Black Jeopardy” as “Doug,” saying, “They told me a fella could win some money, so let’s win me some money. Get’ er done.”

Later, Hanks said, “You know, I got to tell you, I love those movies, I bought a box set at Walmart, and if I can laugh and pray in 90 minutes, that is money well spent.” When Thompson walked over to him with his hand outstretched, saying, “I really appreciate you sayin’ that. I like that,” Hanks recoiled from the outstretched hand, then took it, visibly shaking.

That “Washington’s Dream” clip earned more than 19 million views as well as a video sequel with nearly 9 million more.

Bargatze’s red state appeal is no monkey trick. He’s from Tennessee, and his gentle southern accent is just one giveaway. A 2022 profile describes his Tennessee home as surprisingly modest, understanding he could afford a home that would make Architectural Digest readers swoon.
He’s opened up about his Christian childhood with tenderness and humor.
“I think Jesus had more fun than I did [growing up],” he said playfully on the stand-up circuit. “I’m not complaining. My parents did a great job, I was just naïve a little bit longer than most kids were.”
His self-effacing shtick scores with fans, and he’s never more self-critical than when he describes his marriage.
He also loves to pay it forward. Bargatze’s runaway success is part of the larger, clean comedy revolution. The term “clean” once meant “clunky,” “edge-free” or just plain dull to some. Now, with superstars like Gaffigan, Maniscalco, Brian Regan and Bargatze working the comedy circuit that’s hardly the case.
Established comics like Adam Carolla wash their own mouths out with soap to appear on Utah’s Dry Bar Comedy circuit.
It’s worth noting Bargatze is the opposite of an overnight sensation. He’s been telling jokes for more than 20 years, but for much of his career he wasn’t a household name. Blame social media clips, Netflix specials, or just a never-say-die spirit. He’s now the biggest name in comedy.

Podcaster and actor Marc Maron called it years ago, telling Rolling Stone magazine Bargatze was “<a href="https://variety.com/2022/legit/features/everyman-comic-nate-bargatze-1235319057/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a comic who should be big</a>.” Finally, America agrees.
Perhaps his gentle brand of humor, observational and endlessly kind, is just what we needed in troubled times.
Rebel comedians aren’t hurting for work, either. Tony Hinchcliffe’s nasty jab at Puerto Rico during that infamous Madison Square Garden Trump rally could have hurt the mogul’s re-election chances, but Hinchcliffe emerged from the non-scandal bigger than ever.
Comedy podcasters like Joe Rogan, Theo Von, Tim Dillon and Andrew Schulz throw razor-sharp elbows and have made themselves rich in the process. There’s room for all shades of comedy in 2025.
Still, Bargatze can&#8217;t imagine that <a href="https://variety.com/2022/legit/features/everyman-comic-nate-bargatze-1235319057/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cobalt blue approach.</a>
“I was always uncomfortable making people uncomfortable. I’d be sad if I made somebody feel bad. That would break my heart. I didn’t realize my purpose was to be a relief, but the people who come to my shows — all different backgrounds, political belief, ages, especially since the pandemic — you can feel the relief when you hear them laugh.”

The funniest part of his shocking rise to fame? A Slate.com profile attacking him for <a href="https://slate.com/culture/2024/12/nate-bargatze-comedian-snl-netflix-special-your-friend-comedy.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ducking the culture war battles.</a>
Of course, Bargatze’s neutrality is a politicized stance in its own right. His dogmatic avoidance of controversy might be celebrated in progressive circles, but it also renders his catalog incapable of addressing any of the glaring frailties in American culture.
As it turns out, Bargatze has been waiting to make his big-screen closeup on his terms. He recently signed up to star and <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/nate-bargatze-reveals-plans-future-144600920.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">co-produce “The Breadwinner</a>,” a comedy with few details available at the moment. It’ll be his first starring role in a feature film, and the pressure will be immense.

There’s zero chance it’ll duplicate the bawdy antics of a “Hangover” or “Old School” style romp. Bargatze has wisely protected his brand up until now. Why fix what isn’t broken?
&#8220;I was never great at auditioning for other people’s movies. So I kind of figured I would have to just make my own. I want to be able to create movies that hopefully the whole family can come out to. I believe people still want to go to movies and [that they] still like appointment-type television.&#8221;
Be warned. Sebastian Maniscalco took that path last year with “About My Father,” a story based on his life co-starring Oscar-winner Robert De Niro. It flopped. So did Bert Kreischer’s “The Machine.”
There’s no shame in sticking with what works.

The audience at NBC&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/saturday-night-live" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;Saturday Night Live&#8221;</a> cheered upon hearing the name of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/luigi-mangione" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Luigi Mangione</a>, the man who is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/luigi-mangione-indicted-for-murder-in-new-york-faces-terrorism-charges" target="_blank" rel="noopener">charged with</a> murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City earlier this month.
It happened when &#8220;Weekend Update&#8221; anchor Colin Jost began to talk about Mangione being <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/luigi-mangione-waives-extradition-taken-into-nypd-custody" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transported</a> back to New York City by authorities after he was captured in Pennsylvania. Jost barely managed to mention Mangione&#8217;s name before the audience cheered and he stopped mid-joke to acknowledge the elation in the room.

&#8220;Luigi Mangione dropped his extradition fight and was flown from Pennsylvania to New York to face multiple charges. In related news, Bumble exploded,&#8221; he said, referring to a dating app.
The popular &#8220;End Wokeness&#8221; account shared a clip of the moment on X, prompting some criticism.
&#8220;Revolting. Sickening. Vile,&#8221; <a href="https://x.com/StephenM/status/1870822869946843344" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Stephen Miller, senior adviser to President-elect Donald Trump.

&#8220;Yup,&#8221; <a href="https://x.com/Timcast/status/1870835079800594746" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> podcast host Tim Pool. &#8220;This was always the left.&#8221;
&#8220;Too many leftists are sick, evil monsters,&#8221; <a href="https://x.com/mrddmia/status/1870717645731098728" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Mike Davis, a former Senate staffer who now leads the Article III Project. &#8220;They only respect power. Power is their god. So we must use power to crush them. Legally, financially, and politically. No mercy.&#8221;
Mangione, 26, faces a bevy of state and federal counts for murder and other crimes that could lead to prison time or even the death penalty if there are convictions. A lawyer for Mangione has <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/luigi-mangione-healthcare-ceo-shooting-what-we-know/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">indicated</a> his client plans to fight the charges.
Some people have come to idolize Mangione in part for his physical appearance and because of frustration with the health insurance industry.
The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/12/16/us-news/fans-of-ceo-slay-suspect-luigi-mangione-are-actually-tattooing-his-face-to-their-bodies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> instances of people getting his face tattooed on their bodies. And a group of Mangione&#8217;s supporters even <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/luigi-mangione-waives-extradition-taken-into-nypd-custody" target="_blank" rel="noopener">showed up</a> to a courthouse in Pennsylvania last week when he waived his extradition to New York.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch chided those who celebrated Thompson&#8217;s killing.
&#8220;Let me say this plainly, there is no heroism in what Mangione did. This was a senseless act of violence. It was a cold and calculated crime that stole a life and put New Yorkers at risk,&#8221; Tisch said. &#8220;We don’t celebrate murders and we don’t lionize the killing of anyone. And any attempt to rationalize this is vile, wreckless, and offensive to our deeply held principles of justice.&#8221;

Sketch comedy show “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/saturday-night-live">Saturday Night Live</a>” did a bit that mentioned Daily Wire Editor Emeritus <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ben-shapiro">Ben Shapiro</a> in a segment about a college student whose parents overreacted to him getting an earring.
The bit was part of the latest <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/television">episode</a> that aired this past Saturday, December 7. In it, a mother and father welcome their college-aged son (Paul Mescal) home for the holidays but react in horror when they realize he has gotten his ear pierced.
When his parents express their disdain for the earring, the son asks, “What’s the big deal?”
“What’s the big deal? Let me answer that question with another question,” the mother replies. “What’s the big deal if I came home one day with skeleton hands tattooed around my neck?”
“Yeah, what’s the big deal?” the father adds. “Maybe I’ll show up to work tomorrow naked? Tell my boss, no it’s OK. My son has an earring. We’re all free, man.”
After the son says the earring is “cool,” the parents continue throwing out ridiculous suggestions that they equate to getting an earring, such as peeing on the floor and shooting a goat.

Next, the son suggests that his parents might be upset because they think he’s gay, which he denies, then calls them “extremely homophobic.”
The parents get even more upset, and the father says, “Poli sci major got us good. Oh, college student owns Ben Shapiro.”
“You think we’re homophobic? Your father has been gay for 15 years,” the mother retorts.

The bit continues with the parents becoming more and more upset, going as far as throwing grandma out the window and resorting to self-harm until the bit ends with their second son arriving home from college. The joke is that he’s dressed in all black and has facial piercings, but the father says, “Oh well that’s different, I mean, he looks good.”
The same episode of “SNL” was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/snl-slammed-for-making-jokes-about-murder-of-unitedhealthcare-ceo">slammed</a> for making jokes about the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson during the “Weekend Update” segment. 
The episode mocked the NYPD for not having a suspect in custody at the time. Segment host Colin Jost also said, “It really says something about America that a guy was murdered in cold blood and the two main reactions were, ‘Yeah, well, healthcare stinks!’ And also, ‘Girl, that shooter hot.&#8217;”

Many viewers were not laughing at the Weekend Update bit on the most recent episode of “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/saturday-night-live">Saturday Night Live</a>” as it made jokes about the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/crime">murder</a> of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Saturday night&#8217;s episode of the sketch comedy show included hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che making a few jokes about the circumstances surrounding Thompson&#8217;s death on December 4, including the NYPD&#8217;s search for the shooter and reactions to the exec’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/assassination">assassination</a>.

&#8220;The manhunt continues for the assassin who gunned down the CEO of UnitedHealthcare on Wednesday,&#8221; Jost went on. &#8220;And it really says something about America that a guy was murdered in cold blood and the two main reactions were, &#8216;Yeah, well, healthcare stinks!&#8217; And also, &#8216;Girl, that shooter hot.'&#8221;

Jost also mentioned the lighting of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, which happened the same day Thompson was murdered. &#8220;It&#8217;s also so crazy that the shooting happened three blocks from here in broad daylight, and the guy just bicycled away. Probably because they have every cop in the city guarding our Christmas tree,” he said.
&#8220;The NYPD now believes the suspect left the city on a bus from Port Authority. Thanks, but a Port Authority passenger who looks like a murderer actually widens the search,&#8221; Jost went on.
&#8220;New York City police say that they were able to get the smiling picture of the suspect after the man apparently was caught on camera at a local hostel, flirting with a female employee, whose name has been reported as ‘Lucky S. Bechalive,'&#8221; Che said.
Reactions to the bit have been mixed, with many saying the bit was in poor taste as Thompson was a husband and father to two young sons.
&#8220;Long time viewer of SNL. I don&#8217;t consider myself particularly [sensitive] to any topic, but in today&#8217;s Weekend Update edition they made jokes about the United Health CEO gunned down in NYC. That was really distasteful and disrespectful. SNL, you need to do better,&#8221; one X user <a href="https://x.com/JCarrilloH/status/1865631926880494014">wrote</a>.
“Disgusting. I couldn’t watch this segment. The victim’s family and friends are very much grieving right now,” one commenter wrote in response to a YouTube clip of the segment. 
“Agreed,” said another. “I don’t usually watch SNL, and I can see by the segment and comments supporting it, that I will no longer be watching it. Joking about someone’s murder like that is absolutely disgusting… a family is grieving right now.”
Thompson was gunned down last Wednesday morning by a masked assassin. Some people on social media openly celebrated the CEO’s death as they insisted it was retribution for corruption and greed in the healthcare industry.
On Monday, police <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/12/09/nyregion/unitedhealthcare-ceo-shooting-news">arrested</a> Luigi Mangione at a Pennsylvania McDonald&#8217;s on firearms charges. Law enforcement described him as &#8220;a strong person of interest&#8221; in connection with the murder.

Comedian <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/bill-murray">Bill Murray</a> insists that the sketch comedy show “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/saturday-night-live">Saturday Night Live</a>” is still funny, despite many viewers voicing their disagreement lately.
The “Ghostbusters” star, once a regular on the show, discussed his thoughts on a recent episode of Travis and Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.
“People always give me a hard time about, ‘Oh, the original show was so great and it’s lousy now,’” Murray said, per <a href="https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/bill-murray-defends-snl-cast-critics-lousy-1236236995/">Variety.</a> “And I say, ‘No, it’s not.’ The show that’s on now, they do stuff that’s just as good as anybody ever did, all the time.”
The actor also said he would “certainly” come back to help celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary next year, the outlet noted.
“I told ‘em I’d like to host one this year. So maybe if I get organized,&#8221; said Murray. &#8220;I think I did it two other times when I was there. I’d like to try it one more time. It might be the last time to try it.”
The “What About Bob?” actor also revealed who he thought the best host of the show was. “There’s only one that stands above all others,” Murray said. “It was Ray Charles. [He] completely buries every other entertainer I’ve ever met or worked with or read about.”

He went on, “Ray Charles knew all his lines cold. Ray Charles came in and played solo, he played with The Raelettes, he played with his scepter and he played with the ‘Saturday Night Live’ orchestra. And he may have played with his quintet as well. And he killed and murdered every single one of [his performances].”
“At the end of that show, they play that song and saxophones playing and you’re like ‘Hey man I had a great week,’” Murray said. “You’re up there on the stage and you’re waving at people—I did not want to stand on that stage. I had no business being on that stage with Ray Charles.”
The show debuted in 1975 and has helped launch the careers of dozens of comedians. During the lead-up to the 2024 election, “SNL” was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disgusting-team-trump-rips-saturday-night-live-for-joke-about-assassination-attempts">criticized</a> for making jokes about the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. 
The show also scheduled Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris for a last-minute appearance the weekend before the election, which <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-snls-pro-kamala-stunt-just-backfired-bigly">backfired</a> when NBC was forced to give Trump equal airtime after a Sunday night football game. 
Sunday Night Football regularly attracts more than 20 million viewers, while the <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-kamala-harris-ratings-snl-sunday-night-football-1980095">ratings</a> show that “SNL&#8221; recently attracted 5.6 million viewers for its season premiere.

Former President Donald Trump aired a minute-long <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-releases-special-message-ahead-of-election-day" target="_blank" rel="noopener">special message</a> on NBC airwaves during the NFL&#8217;s coverage of Sunday Night Football, likely reaching far more viewers than Vice President Kamala Harris, who made a last-minute appearance on NBC&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fcc-commissioner-kamalas-snl-appearance-a-blatant-effort-to-evade-equal-time-rule" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Saturday Night Live</a>, the previous day.
Per the Federal Communications Commission&#8217;s Equal Time rule, NBC was not allowed to host Harris in this way while excluding Trump. SNL, by contrast, typically gets a fraction of that, with the show&#8217;s <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/snl-season-50-premiere-ratings-1236018384/">four-year-high</a> ratings sitting at just 5 million viewers.
“The worst economic numbers in generations were just announced two days ago,” Trump said in his video message, referring to the latest <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disaster-final-jobs-report-before-election-shows-just-12000-jobs-added-in-october" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dismal jobs report</a>. “We’re losing jobs. We’re losing everything, including viability. We’re going to end up in a depression based on what’s been happening.”
“We’ve never seen anything like it, at least for the last 40 years,” the former president continued. “We have to straighten out our country, we have to close our borders, we have to lower our taxes, we have to get rid of inflation, and we’re going to do it.”
