A major dam was destroyed early Tuesday morning local time in Russian-occupied territory in southern Ukraine.
Over 15,000 residents downstream of the Kakhovka dam were being evacuated as officials warned that the rising water levels would hit a critical point in just a few hours.
Reuters <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukraine-says-russia-blows-up-major-nova-kakhovka-dam-southern-ukraine-2023-06-06/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that the 2-mile-long dam holds the same amount of water as the Great Salt Lake in Utah and was built nearly seven decades ago as part of a hydroelectric power plant on the Dnipro River.
Ukraine accused Russia of blowing up the dam while Russian officials suggested that it was a Ukrainian terrorist attack.
&#8220;Russian terrorists,&#8221; Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed on Twitter. &#8220;The destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam only confirms for the whole world that they must be expelled from every corner of Ukrainian land. Not a single meter should be left to them, because they use every meter for terror. It’s only Ukraine&#8217;s victory that will return security. And this victory will come. The terrorists will not be able to stop Ukraine with water, missiles or anything else.&#8221;

The New York Times spoke with experts who <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2023/06/06/world/russia-ukraine-news" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that the destruction caused by the dam&#8217;s demolition could be &#8220;catastrophic&#8221; for &#8220;communities, irrigation and transportation.&#8221;
The International Atomic Energy Agency said that it was monitoring the nearby Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which gets the water that it needs to stay cool from the reservoir.

Robert Hanssen, a former FBI agent who turned into a spy for Russia and did significant damage to U.S. national security, was found dead in his prison cell on Monday. He was 79 years old.
&#8220;On Monday, June 5, 2023, at approximately 6:55 am, inmate Robert Hansen was found unresponsive at the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) specifically, the ADX in Florence, Colorado,&#8221; the Bureau of Prisons said in a statement. &#8220;Responding staff immediately initiated life-saving measures. Staff requested emergency medical services and life-saving efforts continued. The inmate was subsequently pronounced dead by outside emergency medical personnel.&#8221;
Hanssen was arrested in 2001 and charged with spying for Russia and the former Soviet Union using the alias “Ramon Garcia.” He earned nearly $1.5 million in cash, diamonds, and bank funds for his treasonous actions.
He started spying for Russia in 1985 and the information that he transferred to them using dead drops “compromised numerous human sources, counterintelligence techniques, investigations, dozens of classified U.S. government documents, and technical operations of extraordinary importance and value,” according to the FBI.
The U.S. government eventually caught Hanssen when they secured a Russian document that appeared to identify him as their source. An extensive subsequent investigation caught him red-handed giving classified material to the Russians.
He pled guilty to 15 counts of espionage and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. He served his time at the supermax prison in Colorado, which is considered to be the most secure prison in the world.
&#8220;A betrayal of trust by an FBI Agent, who is not only sworn to enforce the law but specifically to help protect our nation&#8217;s security, is particularly abhorrent,&#8221; then-FBI Director Louis J. Freeh said at the time. &#8220;This kind of criminal conduct represents the most traitorous action imaginable against a country governed by the Rule of Law.&#8221;

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/iran" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Iran</a> is building weapons to kill American service members in Syria while working with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/russia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Russia</a> to push the U.S. out of the country altogether, according to classified documents.
The U.S. intercepted transmissions that appear to be between militia groups in Syria and Lebanon. The communications show that Iran’s Quds Force, a <a href="https://www.cfr.org/backgrounder/irans-revolutionary-guards" target="_blank" rel="noopener">branch</a> of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that works with militia groups across the Middle East, led research and testing on a weapon capable of breaching heavy armor, such as that on Humvees and tanks, according to documents reviewed by <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2023/06/01/discord-leaks-iran-russia-syria/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Washington Post</a>.
Middle East militia groups have used similar weapons before. Explosively formed penetrator, or EFP, weapons are similar to roadside bombs commonly used by terror groups and were used against U.S. forces during the invasion of Iraq. The weapon tested by the Quds Force in conjunction with Lebanon’s Hezbollah is capable of piercing nearly three-inch thick armor plating at a range of 75 feet.
The weapon testing marks an escalation in Iran’s use of force against the U.S. According to the documents, at least one attempt to use the weapon against Americans was seemingly thwarted in February by the United States’ Kurdish allies in Syria. Kurdish fighters confiscated three EFPs.
Other documents suggest Iran is working with Russia to push the U.S. out of the Middle East. Iran is backing Moscow in its war in Ukraine and supplying the Russian military with drones, as well as other armaments. Russia recently made use of dozens of drones in a series of attacks against Ukraine, focused particularly on Kyiv.
Over the weekend, Ukraine’s air defense <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/drones-shot-down-over-homes-of-moscows-elite-after-russia-shells-ukraine-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">downed</a> 52 of 54 drones that dropped across the country, the Ukrainian military said. Forty of those drones targeted Kyiv, and the downed devices caused light damage and set fires across the city. One person reportedly died from falling debris.
Russia is working with Iran on a more aggressive approach to U.S. forces in the Middle East. In November, high-ranking military officials with Russia, Iran, and Syria met and agreed to establish a “coordination center” to work on building grassroots opposition to U.S. forces stationed in Syria, according to the Post.

Former President Donald Trump severed the agreement after it was criticized as unenforceable and unable to complete its designed goal: to keep Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
Talks to revive the scuttled deal froze last year. Biden, on the sidelines of an election rally in November, <a href="https://www.axios.com/2022/12/20/biden-iran-nuclear-deal-dead-video" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> the agreement was “dead,” but added that the United States would not make an official announcement calling it such.

A male <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/beluga-whale-alleged-be-russian-spy-appears-have-ashe-schow" target="_blank" rel="noopener">beluga suspected of being trained to be a Russian spy</a> reappeared off the coast of a yet another country, according to a group that tracks the whale.
Hvaldimir, as the whale is known, swam around <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/norway" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Norway</a> and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Isrg8IGi4qs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">showed up</a> in the waters of neighboring <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/sweden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sweden</a> where local authorities are helping to look after the creature, the OneWhale organization <a href="https://www.kron4.com/business/press-releases/ein-presswire/636386619/sweden-takes-swift-action-upon-arrival-of-world-famous-spy-whale/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced in a statement</a> Monday.
“After four years of swimming south down the coast of Norway, Hvaldimir – known worldwide as the ‘Russian spy’ beluga whale – is now in Swedish waters,” the group said.
The whale first made headlines in 2019 when it was spotted in Norwegian waters wearing a harness with GoPro camera mounts and clips that said, &#8220;Equipment off St Petersburg,&#8221; <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/30/europe/russian-spy-whale-sweden-scli-intl/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to CNN</a>.
Norwegian intelligence officials conducted an investigation and told <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-65753749" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the BBC</a> the whale was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/norwegians-found-beluga-whale-harness-now-they-ashe-schow" target="_blank" rel="noopener">likely trained by the Russian military</a>. Russia&#8217;s Defense Ministry has denied the existence of programs to train sea mammals for surveillance purposes, even though <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2023/05/30/beluga-spy-whale-hvaldimir-sweden-norway/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Washington Post notes</a> that it published an advertisement several years back seeking to recruit dolphins.
In the years since Hvaldimir showed up in Norwegian waters, the beluga has become a local celebrity. As reported by the BBC, <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-65753749" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hvaldimir&#8217;s name</a> combines the Norwegian word for whale, &#8220;hval,&#8221; and the first name of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
OneWhale <a href="https://www.onewhale.org/home/?_gl=1*us179h*_gcl_au*MTg3MDY0OTEzOC4xNjg1NTU0NjM1#meethvaldimir" target="_blank" rel="noopener">says on its website</a> that Hvaldimir likes to hang around industrial salmon farms, but a &#8220;dramatic&#8221; increase in unregulated tourism aimed at the whale has led to the creature being injured by boat propellers and fishing hooks.
Hvaldimir &#8220;is a friendly, tamed, displaced, formerly captive whale who relies on humans for social interaction. Belugas are highly social whales and he has been living all alone the past four years,&#8221; the group said in its Monday statement.
Sebastian Strand, a marine biologist with OneWhale, <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/may/29/suspected-russia-trained-spy-whale-reappears-off-swedens-coast" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told The Guardian</a> that Hvaldimir, who is believed to be between 13 and 14 years old, is at an age where hormones are &#8220;very high&#8221; and therefore the whale may be searching for other belugas.
Now, according to the OneWhale, there are plans to move the whale north to arctic waters and the group is working with the Norwegian port city of Hammerfest to create a reserve to hold Hvaldimir until he can be released back into a wild beluga population.
“Hvaldimir’s situation remains an extremely vulnerable one as Sweden is a highly populated country, but we are very grateful Swedish authorities have quickly taken action to care for the whale,&#8221; said OneWhale President Rich German.

Reade made the announcement during a Russian state press conference while she sat next to Russian spy Maria Butina, who was previously <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/russian-national-sentenced-18-months-prison-conspiring-act-agent-russian-federation-within" target="_blank" rel="noopener">convicted</a> and sentenced to prison in the U.S. for conspiring to act as an agent of Russia inside the U.S.
“I&#8217;m still kind of in a daze a bit, but I feel very good,” Reade <a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/joe-biden-accuser-tara-reade-claims-she-defected-to-russia-after-sexual-assault-allegations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Sputnik News. “I feel very surrounded by protection and safety. And I just really so appreciate Maria [Butina] and everyone who&#8217;s been giving me that at a time when it&#8217;s been very difficult to know if I&#8217;m safe or not.”
&#8220;I&#8217;m not going to be intimidated, bullied or silenced. I&#8217;m going to speak out and I&#8217;m willing to speak under oath about the corruption I witnessed, about the crime I experienced,&#8221; she claimed. &#8220;And it is remarkable that Joe Biden raped me when I worked for him at U.S. Congress and I&#8217;m supposed to be the fugitive. That is ridiculous and it&#8217;s unacceptable.&#8221;
Reade said that she was requesting that Russian President Vladimir Putin make her a citizen of the Russian Federation.
&#8220;I am going to make a request and it&#8217;s a large one: I&#8217;d like to apply for citizenship in Russia from the president of the Russian federation, Vladimir Putin, and hopefully Maria can help me from the State Duma,&#8221; Reade said, adding: &#8220;I do promise to be a good citizen and move forward with my life in a positive way.&#8221;

Reade alleged during the 2020 presidential election that in 1993 then-Senator Biden forced himself on her while she was a staffer in a deserted hallway of a Senate building and penetrated her with his fingers. After being almost entirely ignored by the mainstream media for weeks, Reade’s allegation was finally addressed by The New York Times in a much-scrutinized <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/12/us/politics/joe-biden-tara-reade-sexual-assault-complaint.html">examination</a> of Reade’s allegation that Biden’s campaign initially portrayed as having exonerated him, but which the Times made clear in a strong rebuke of Biden’s camp had not.
Reade <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-details-emerge-on-joe-bidens-alleged-sexual-assault-of-tara-reade">documented</a> the alleged assault in late March 2020, saying that it happened when a supervisor instructed her to take a gym bag to Biden.

Russia is blaming the Ukrainian government for a “kamikaze” drone attack on a wealthy Moscow neighborhood this morning.

Drones hit residential areas of Moscow on Monday for the first time in the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ukraine-russia-war" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Russia-Ukraine war</a>, Russian authorities say.
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/russia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Russia</a>’s Ministry of Defense reported that eight drones targeted the city; five were shot down, and the other three had their systems jammed, according to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2023/05/30/world/russia-ukraine-drones-news/drones-hit-residential-buildings-in-russias-capital?smid=url-share" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Times</a>. The reported attack came after days of drones and missile strikes across <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ukraine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ukraine</a> and concentrated on its capital city of Kyiv.
Ukraine denied ordering the attack on Moscow. Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, said that Kyiv was not “directly involved,” but Podolyak said Ukraine was “happy” to watch.
Russian forces shot down some drones over Moscow’s Rublyovka district, where many of the city’s business and political elites have homes, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. Nobody was killed in the attack, Russia said, according to <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/drones-strike-residential-areas-in-moscow-9984942?mod=latest_headlines" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Wall Street Journal</a>.
Putin blamed Ukraine for the strike and accused it of “terrorist activity.” The Russian president said Kyiv is “provoking us to respond with tit-for-tat measures” and “scaring Russian citizens and hitting residential buildings.” He vowed to retaliate, according to the <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/cdde0e44-0e90-41c0-a3be-e5f6849b706b" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Financial Times</a>.
Over the weekend, Ukraine was reportedly <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/russia-launches-largest-drone-attack-on-kyiv-since-start-of-war-a68c2daa" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shelled</a> by Shahed suicide drones sent to Russia by Iran. The strikes hit all across Ukraine but focused heavily on Kyiv. Dozens of drones and missiles were aimed at targets in and around the capital.
Ukraine’s air defense shot down 52 of 54 drones that dropped across the country. Forty of those targeted Kyiv, and the downed devices caused light damage and set fires across the city. One person died from falling debris, Ukraine said.
Unlike Kyiv, Russia’s capital city has avoided almost any direct damage and destruction from the war with Ukraine. Moscow was given its first taste of war in early May when two drones were shot down over the Kremlin, causing negligible damage to buildings. At the time, Putin <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kyiv-only-does-what-it-is-told-to-do-russia-says-u-s-behind-alleged-kremlin-drone-attack" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blamed</a> the U. and Ukraine for attempting an assassination mission to kill the Russian president.
Both countries denied involvement.

“We fight on our territory, we are defending our villages and cities. We don’t have enough weapon[s] for this. That’s why we don’t use it anywhere [else],” he said. “We didn’t attack Putin. We leave it to tribunal,” he said.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/russia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Russia</a> issued a warrant on Monday seeking the arrest of Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lindsey-graham" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lindsey Graham</a> (R-SC) after the release of an edited video that made it appear the lawmaker was celebrating the United States spending money on the killing of Russians in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ukraine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ukraine</a>.
After top Russian investigator Alexander Bastrykin ordered criminal proceedings, the Russian Interior Ministry added Graham to its wanted list, <a href="https://tass.com/ukraine-crisis/1624329" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to Russian state news agency TASS</a>.
At issue is <a href="https://twitter.com/stillgray/status/1663161448263208961" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a video</a>, released by Ukraine&#8217;s presidential office, showing Graham meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksy last week. It was edited to show Graham saying, &#8220;the Russians are dying,&#8221; and then describing how U.S. military aid to Ukraine is &#8220;the best money we’ve ever spent,&#8221; <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2023/05/29/lindsey-graham-russia-arrest-warrant-00099150" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to the Associated Press</a>.
&#8220;It’s hard to imagine a greater shame for the country than having such senators,&#8221; said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/lindsey-graham-russia-wanted-list-ukraine-war-killing-senators-1803112" target="_blank" rel="noopener">per Newsweek.</a>
A longer video <a href="https://twitter.com/GuyReuters/status/1663112263056629761" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published by Reuters</a> shows Graham making those comments in reverse order and not directly connecting them as the original clip had suggested.
After making the remarks lionizing the United States&#8217; investment in helping Ukraine fend off the Russian invasion, Graham talked about how Ukrainians remind him of &#8220;our better selves in America&#8221; fighting for freedom. Zelensky pointed out that Americans are now free and Ukrainians will also be free, to which Graham then noted that &#8220;the Russians are dying.&#8221;
Despite any confusion, Graham, who has been a staunch critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, celebrated being a wanted man in Russia.
&#8220;I will wear the arrest warrant issued by Putin’s corrupt and immoral government as a Badge of Honor,&#8221; the <a href="https://www.lgraham.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=C6FE783D-6541-4E0E-9FBC-0D60615E6137" target="_blank" rel="noopener">senator said in a statement</a> on Monday. &#8220;To know that my commitment to Ukraine has drawn the ire of Putin’s regime brings me immense joy. I will continue to stand with and for Ukraine’s freedom until every Russian soldier is expelled from Ukrainian territory.&#8221;
Graham also made an &#8220;offer&#8221; to Putin, alluding to how the International Criminal Court <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-international-criminal-court-issues-arrest-warrant-for-vladimir-putin-for-abducting-children-war-crimes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued an arrest warrant</a> for Putin for alleged war crimes during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Russian Foreign Ministry dismissed the idea that Graham&#8217;s words had been edited to be shown out of context as a &#8220;clumsy&#8221; excuse, according to TASS. &#8220;It is already impossible to clean oneself [and one’s reputation] from the stain of such remarks, even if they were uttered separately,&#8221; <a href="https://tass.com/politics/1624499" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the ministry said</a>.

A senior Belarusian official on Sunday reportedly threatened to use recently transported tactical nuclear weapons in a warning to Western politicians urging them not to cross strategic issue &#8220;red lines&#8221; with their Russian ally.
Alexander Volfovich, the state secretary of Belarus&#8217; Security Council, said the United States broke an agreement with Belarus, which provided security guarantees without imposed sanctions in exchange for the withdrawal of nuclear weapons after the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.
&#8220;Today, everything has been torn down,&#8221; Volfovich said, according to <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/belarus-official-west-left-us-no-choice-deploy-nuclear-arms-2023-05-28/?taid=6473b9f5f7bfd60001644edd&amp;utm_campaign=trueAnthem:+Trending+Content&amp;utm_medium=trueAnthem&amp;utm_source=twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Reuters</a>. &#8220;All the promises made are gone forever.&#8221;
Russia and Belarus announced last week that an unknown number of nuclear warheads had already left Moscow for the allied territory after the two nations signed a deal confirming the weapons deployment while remaining under the control of the Kremlin.
U.S. officials believe Russia has approximately 2,000 tactical nuclear weapons designed for military forces to use on the battlefield against enemy troops. The Associated Press reported the weapons include aircraft-carried bombs, short-range missile warheads, and artillery rounds.
Belarus&#8217; President Alexander Lukashenko, who allowed the Russian government to use its territory to launch the war in Ukraine in February 2022, told reporters in Moscow last week that &#8220;the movement of the nuclear weapons has already begun.&#8221;
Volfovich said officials view the weapons in Belarus as &#8220;one of the steps of strategic deterrence.&#8221;
&#8220;If there remains any reason in the heads of Western politicians, of course, they will not cross this red line,&#8221; he said, adding it &#8220;will lead to irreversible consequences&#8221; if authorities resort to using tactical nuclear weapons.
U.S. State Department officials condemned Russia transporting the weapons in a briefing last week, calling saying, &#8220;It&#8217;s the latest example of irresponsible behavior that we have seen from Russia since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine over a year ago.
&#8220;As we have made clear, the use of chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons in this conflict would be met with severe consequences,&#8221; State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller <a href="https://www.state.gov/briefings/department-press-briefing-may-25-2023/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;But in response to this report, I will just add we have seen no reason to adjust our strategic nuclear posture or any indications that Russia is preparing to use a nuclear weapon.&#8221;
Volfovich said last month that officials would deploy tactical or strategic nuclear munitions at the nation&#8217;s western border that are primarily as a deterrent to ensure the security of both Russia and Belarus, <a href="https://eng.belta.by/printv/politics/view/nuclear-weapons-in-belarus-unlikely-to-be-used-157890-2023/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to state media.</a>
&#8220;The number of warheads doesn&#8217;t matter,&#8221; Volfovich said. &#8220;What matters is how they will be used and whether they will be used correctly. And we know how to use them. As for whether they will have to be used or not … I don&#8217;t think things will go so far that they will need to be used.&#8221;
Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the U.S. and its allies of waging an undeclared war against the country since launching the full-scale war in Ukraine.

American officials said that Ukraine was likely behind the May 3 <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/russia-accuses-ukraine-of-sending-drones-to-assassinate-putin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">drone attack</a> on the Kremlin that the Russians called an attempt to assassinate President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/putin-authorized-wall-street-journal-reporter-arrest-spying-charges-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vladimir Putin</a>.
U.S. intelligence officials said that the drone attack was part of a series of covert Ukrainian military or intelligence operations on Russian soil that have made the Biden administration uncomfortable as the U.S. continues to prop up the European country, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/24/us/politics/ukraine-kremlin-drone-attack.html?smtyp=cur&amp;smid=tw-nytimes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Video footage <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kyiv-only-does-what-it-is-told-to-do-russia-says-u-s-behind-alleged-kremlin-drone-attack" target="_blank" rel="noopener">showed</a> two drones crashing near the Kremlin earlier this month, but the attack caused little to no damage, and Putin was not at the Kremlin at the time of the strike. 
After initially wondering if Russia conducted the drone attack as a “false flag” operation, the U.S. intercepted Russian communications indicating the country was surprised by the attack.
“Watching how the Kremlin has responded suggests to me this was an embarrassment and surprise for them, and not a deliberate false flag,” said Dara Massicot, a military analyst at RAND, according to the Times. “The strikes also undermine the perceptions of Moscow’s air space surveillance capabilities and that the Kremlin is secure — these are important perceptions they would like to maintain.”
U.S. intelligence also intercepted Ukrainian officials saying their country was responsible for the attack, but they appeared to have no knowledge of who within the Ukrainian government planned it.
Officials had “low” confidence that the Ukrainian government authorized the drone attack, and some officials said they did not believe President Volodymyr Zelensky was aware of the covert operation. Russia initially blamed Ukraine for the attack and then singled out the U.S., <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kyiv-only-does-what-it-is-told-to-do-russia-says-u-s-behind-alleged-kremlin-drone-attack" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accusing</a> Ukraine’s most powerful ally of giving Kyiv the go-ahead to conduct the operation.
“We are well aware that decisions on such a level of terrorist attacks are made not in Kyiv, but in Washington,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/russia-accuses-us-behind-ukraine-drone-attack-kremlin-putin-rcna82809" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to NBC News. “Kyiv only does what it is told to do.”
The U.S. quickly denied any claims that it was in any way behind an attack on Russia’s capital.

If Ukraine was behind the drone attack as U.S. intelligence officials believe, it would mark at least the third attack on Russian soil that the U.S. believes Ukraine is behind. Last year, the daughter of a prominent Russian blogger was killed in a car bombing, and in recent weeks, pro-Ukrainian forces have attacked Russian towns, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/23/world/europe/mrap-armored-vehicles-russia-ukraine.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appearing</a> to use American-made tactical vehicles in their incursions.
The bold invasions into Russian territory have alarmed the Biden administration, the Times reported. President Biden has handed over armored vehicles, long-range missiles, and billions of dollars to help Ukraine fight the Russians. The president is also preparing to approve the shipment of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine from other allies.

U.S. Officials Believe Ukrainians Likely Responsible For Kremlin Drone Attack

A Moscow court extended the pre-trial detention of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich by at least another three months after Russian authorities arrested the American journalist on espionage charges.
Gershkovich, 31, was arrested while reporting in Yekaterinburg, located in the Ural Mountains, on espionage charges back in March and could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted. Investigators accused Gershkovich of acting on instructions from U.S. officials by collecting state secret information involving the Russian military, which the journalist, his employer, and U.S. officials have all denied.
&#8220;By the decision of the Lefortovsky District Court of Moscow dated May 23, 2023, the term of detention in respect of Evan Gershkovich, accused of committing a crime under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, was extended for three months and one day, that is, until August 30, 2023,&#8221; the court decision <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/evan-gershkovichs-pre-trial-detention-extended-three-months-rcna85797" target="_blank" rel="noopener">read</a>.
Russian news agency TASS <a href="https://t.me/tass_agency/193157" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Federal Security Service (FSB) investigators requested the Lefortovo Court of Moscow extend Gershkovich&#8217;s detention.
The Wall Street Journal said the outlet was &#8220;deeply disappointed&#8221; in the court&#8217;s decision.
&#8220;Today, our colleague, and distinguished journalist, Evan Gershkovich, appeared for a pre-trial hearing in a Moscow court,&#8221; the statement <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/investigators-ask-russian-court-to-extend-evan-gershkovichs-pretrial-detention-d5281ffb" target="_blank" rel="noopener">read</a>. &#8220;While we expected there would be no change to Evan&#8217;s wrongful detention, we are deeply disappointed. The accusations are demonstrably false, and we continue to demand his immediate release.&#8221;
Legal experts told the outlet that Russia&#8217;s Criminal Procedure Code could permit defendants facing espionage charges to be detained for up to 12 months before trial begins.
White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told CNN that Gershkovich &#8220;shouldn&#8217;t be detained at all,&#8221; calling for Russian authorities to release the reporter immediately.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/putin-authorized-wall-street-journal-reporter-arrest-spying-charges-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">formally declared</a> last month that Russian authorities had wrongfully detained Gershkovich, giving federal officials additional resources to secure his release, including providing the State Department access to &#8220;exert pressure on Moscow, monitor intelligence, build diplomatic coalitions, exert media pressure and fight for regular consular access.&#8221;
Blinken announced the official classification, giving control to the Office of the Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs at the State Department.
&#8220;Journalism is not a crime,&#8221; Vedant Patel, a State Department spokesperson, told NBC in a statement. &#8220;We condemn the Kremlin&#8217;s continued repression of independent voices in Russia and its ongoing war against the truth.&#8221;
Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly authorized Kremlin officials to arrest Gershkovich.
Sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that Putin&#8217;s arrest of the reporter marks &#8220;the growing influence of Kremlin hardliners who push for deepening a confrontation with Washington they view as irreversible.&#8221;
The Russian Foreign Ministry claimed the United States was politicizing Gershokovich&#8217;s detention, saying, &#8220;It is unacceptable for officials in Washington and the Western media to whip up a stir with the clear intention of giving this case a political coloring.&#8221;
Gershkovich became the first American journalist arrested on espionage charges since the end of the Cold War.

WSJ Reporter Arrested In Russia Has Pre-Trial Detention Extended By Three Months

A group of world elites, including individuals connected to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/pfizer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pfizer</a>, the U.S. intelligence community, and the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/world-economic-forum" target="_blank" rel="noopener">World Economic Forum</a>, are in Portugal this weekend for a meeting to discuss a variety of topics, including <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/artificial-intelligence" target="_blank" rel="noopener">artificial intelligence</a>, Ukraine, and China. 
The high-profile attendees of the annual Bilderberg meeting, which include Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla and World Economic Forum President Børge Brende <a href="https://bilderbergmeetings.org/press/press-release/participants" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to a participant list, will discuss a variety of topics including artificial intelligence, banking, China, energy transition, Europe, industrial policy, NATO, Russia, transnational threats, Ukraine, and the United States&#8217; role in the world. 
The meeting, which is <a href="https://bilderbergmeetings.org/press/press-release/press-release" target="_blank" rel="noopener">taking place</a> from May 18-21 in Lisbon, will feature about 130 participants in fields like finance, government, and tech from 23 different countries. Due to the nature of the meetings, little is known about the specifics of what the leaders will discuss. 
“The Bilderberg Meeting is a forum for informal discussions about major issues. The meetings are held under the Chatham House Rule, which states that participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s) nor any other participant may be revealed,” the meeting’s website says. 
According to event organizers, the Bilderberg meetings were begun in 1954 to create dialogue between European and North American elites. 
“Thanks to the private nature of the Meeting, the participants take part as individuals rather than in any official capacity, and hence are not bound by the conventions of their office or by pre-agreed positions. As such, they can take time to listen, reflect and gather insights. There is no detailed agenda, no resolutions are proposed, no votes are taken and no policy statements are issued,” the Bilderberg website says. 
Several American political and military figures are listed as attendees, including two-time failed Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/stacey-abrams" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Stacey Abrams</a>, U.S. general and current Supreme Allied Commander Europe Christopher Cavoli, statesman Henry Kissinger, former Obama administration National Security Council director Tarun Chhabra, and former Trump administration National Security Council member Matthew Pottinger.
