Polish officials said Wednesday its forces had shot down a “huge number” of Russian drones overnight that violated the country’s airspace during an attack on Ukraine.
Polish fighter jets, backed by NATO aircraft from Italy, the Netherlands, and Germany, intercepted and destroyed the drones, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said. He added that allies stood in solidarity with Poland and denounced Russia’s “reckless behavior.”
“Last night the Polish airspace was violated by a huge number of Russian drones. Those drones that posed a direct threat were shot down,” Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk <a href="https://x.com/donaldtusk/status/1965663914139824231">wrote</a> on X. “I am in constant communication with the Secretary General of NATO and our allies.”
He said 19 drones had been in Polish airspace, later telling Parliament that Russia had gone too far. 
&#8220;I have no reason to claim we&#8217;re on the brink of war, but a line has been crossed, and it&#8217;s incomparably more dangerous than before,&#8221; Tusk said, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/poland-is-its-closest-open-conflict-since-world-war-two-pm-says-2025-09-10/">according</a> to Reuters. &#8220;This situation brings us the closest we have been to open conflict since World War II.”
The Kremlin refused to comment on the situation.
“This is not for us to do so,&#8221; said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/live/c2enwk1l9e1t">according</a> to the BBC. &#8220;It’s a matter for the [Russian] defence ministry.”
Russia&#8217;s Defense Ministry <a href="https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-war-poland-drones-1232774279039f9e5c5b78bd58686cb9">said</a> it did not target Poland, and General Pavel Muraveiko, the Russian-aligned commander of Belarus’s armed forces, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/10/world/europe/poland-russia-drones-ukraine-attack.html">claimed</a> that the drones “lost their course as a result of electronic warfare.”
Several European leaders condemned the drone incursion. 
“This was an extremely reckless move by Russia and only serves to remind us of President Putin’s blatant disregard for peace, and the constant bombardment innocent Ukrainians face every day,&#8221; said U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer. 
“Hungary stands in full solidarity with Poland following the recent drone incident. The violation of Poland’s territorial integrity is unacceptable,” Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán wrote on X. “The incident proves that our policy of calling for peace in the Russia-Ukraine war is reasonable and rational. Living in the shadow of a war is fraught with risks and dangers. It’s time to make it stop! To this end, we support the efforts of President [Donald Trump] aimed at achieving peace.”
President Donald Trump has pushed for an end to the Ukraine-Russia war, but the fighting between the two countries has continued. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have not yet met to discuss a possible end to the conflict.

According to Ukrainian military officials, multiple Russian drones crossed into Polish airspace while en route to targets in western Ukraine. Poland’s Ministry of Defense confirmed the airspace violation and responded by activating its aircraft, radar systems, and ground-based air defenses. No damage or injuries were reported, and the drones reportedly exited Polish airspace without being intercepted.
This is the latest in a series of drone-related incidents involving Poland. Earlier this month, on September 2 and 3, two Russian drones also briefly entered Polish territory but did not cause harm. In a more serious incident on August 20, a Shahed drone crashed and exploded in a cornfield roughly 100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Polish and allied aircraft were activated early on Wednesday to safeguard Poland&#8217;s airspace after Russia launched an air attack on Ukraine&#8217;s western regions that border the NATO-member Poland.
&#8220;Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, while ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have been brought to the highest state of readiness,&#8221; the operational command of the Polish armed forces said in a post on X.
Earlier, Ukraine&#8217;s air force reported that Russian drones had entered NATO-member Poland&#8217;s airspace, posing a threat to the city of Zamosc, but the air force has since removed that statement from the Telegram messaging app.
As of 0000 GMT, most of Ukraine, including western regions of Volyn and Lviv, which border Poland, were under air raid alerts for several hours, according to Ukraine&#8217;s air force data.
Ukrainian media reported that several Russian drones crossed into Poland&#8217;s air space. Reuters could not independently verify the reports, and there was no official confirmation from Poland that Russian drones were in Poland&#8217;s airspace overnight.

After a video of him snatching a hat from a child at the U.S. Open went viral and ignited widespread outrage, Polish businessman Piotr Szczerek publicly apologized for his actions.
Szczerek, head of the paving company Drogbruk, shared his regrets on the company’s official Instagram page and stated that all other comments attributed to him and his wife were fake. The exec explained that he didn’t mean to take the hat from the little boy, saying he thought it was meant for him.
The footage captures tennis star Kamil Majchrzak holding out the hat toward the child until Szczerek abruptly intercepted, grabbed the hat, and tucked it into his wife’s tote bag. In the video, he appears to ignore the child’s protestations.

“In the emotions, in the crowd’s joy after the victory, I was convinced that the tennis player was handing the cap in my direction — for my sons, who had earlier asked for autographs,” the CEO went on. 
“Today, I know that I did something that looked like deliberately taking a souvenir from a child. That was never my intention, but it doesn’t change the fact that I hurt the boy and disappointed the fans. The cap has since been given to the boy, and apologies made to the family. I hope that at least in part I have repaired the harm I caused,” he added. 
“It is a painful but necessary lesson in humility,” Szczerek wrote.
Since the incident, Majchrzak located the boy, who was identified as Brock, and posed for photos with him. “Hello World, Together with Brock we wish you a great day!” the tennis pro wrote in an Instagram caption shared on Saturday.
He showed a photo of himself giving more gifts to Brock in another Story. 
Szczerek has been targeted online since the incident, with angry individuals bombarding his company with negative reviews and publicly criticizing him for his actions.

Federal authorities have arrested a suspected accomplice to a man who committed a suicidal terror attack against a California fertility clinic last month.
FBI agents arrested Daniel Park, 32, in New York after he was extradited to the United States from Poland. Authorities <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/washington-state-man-arrested-federal-charges-alleging-he-provided-material-support-palm">say</a> Park provided “significant quantities of ammonium nitrate” to Guy Bartkus, who died bombing a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, last month.
“Let this be a reminder: If you harm the American people, or aid and abet those who do, you cannot hide. This FBI will work with our partners to pursue you, find you, and bring you to justice — in any corner of the planet,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in a statement on X.

Attorney General Pam Bondi secured extradition for Park to the United States while she was on a trip to Poland this week. Park had been detained in Poland for two weeks until the attorney general’s visit and his extradition.
“Bringing chaos and violence to a facility that exists to help women and mothers is a particularly cruel, disgusting crime that strikes at the very heart of our shared humanity,&#8221; Bondi said in a statement to <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/06/04/bondi-extradite-poland-daniel-jongyon-park">Axios</a>, which first reported on Park’s extradition.
Bartkus attacked the Palm Springs American Reproductive Centers clinic on May 17. Bartkus drove a car with a bomb inside to the clinic and detonated it, killing himself. Others wounded in the blast have since been treated and released from hospital care.
The blast from the bomb was strong enough to <a href="https://www.npr.org/2025/05/19/nx-s1-5403669/what-we-know-palm-springs-ivf-clinic-bombing">send</a> pieces of nearby vehicles hundreds of feet in the air, according to police.
Park “shares Bartkus’s extremist views,” according to the Department of Justice, which said that Bartkus’ attack was motivated by his “pro-mortalism, anti-natalism, and anti-pro-life ideology.”
Park shipped an estimated 180 pounds of ammonium nitrate, an explosive precursor chemical, to Bartkus ahead of the attack on the clinic. Park also paid for 90 more pounds of the explosive to be shipped to Bartkus, according to prosecutors.
Park began to ship the ammonium nitrate to Bartkus shortly before Park stayed with Bartkus from January 25 to February 8. Park and Bartkus spent part of their time together in Bartkus’ garage “running experiments,” prosecutors said.

The mother of slain cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was killed in 2021 when a gun held by actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/alec-baldwin">Alec Baldwin</a> went off while filming the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies">Western film</a> “Rust,” declined an invitation to its premiere on Wednesday.
“Rust” is premiering at the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography Camerimage in Torun, Poland, three years after Hutchins was shot and killed. Hutchins’ mother, Olga Solovey, released a statement saying she sees the film’s release as an opportunity for Baldwin to “unjustly profit” from her daughter’s death, the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/poland-film-premiere-rust-baldwin-7479e578096359df46251c262e4f9d3d">Associated Press reported</a>.
“It was always my hope to meet my daughter in Poland to watch her work come alive on screen,&#8221; Solovey began in the statement, referencing the fact that director Joel Souza, who was wounded when the revolver Baldwin held fired, was slated to introduce the film at the festival.
“Unfortunately, that was ripped away from me when Alec Baldwin discharged his gun and killed my daughter,&#8221; the statement continued. “Alec Baldwin continues to increase my pain with his refusal to apologize to me and his refusal to take responsibility for her death. Instead, he seeks to unjustly profit from his killing of my daughter.”
“That is the reason why I refuse to attend the festival for the promotion of Rust, especially now when there is still no justice for my daughter,&#8221; Solovey said.
A New Mexico judge dismissed an involuntary manslaughter charge against Baldwin for the fatal shooting. The 66-year-old actor currently has multiple civil lawsuits pending, including one by Solovey.

“Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was also charged with involuntary manslaughter and received the maximum sentence of 18 months in jail.
Baldwin has maintained all along that he was not responsible for the shooting death. In December 2021, Baldwin told George Stephanopoulos in an interview on ABC News that “I didn’t pull the trigger” of the prop gun that fired and killed Hutchins. Baldwin further denied responsibility for Hutchins&#8217; death.
“I feel that someone is responsible for what happened and I can’t say who that is, but I know it’s not me,” Baldwin told the host. “I might have killed myself if I thought I was responsible, and I don’t say that lightly.”

“Rust” will premiere three years after the 2021 fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the New Mexico film set — where a gun <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/alec-baldwin">Alec Baldwin</a> was holding discharged a bullet, leaving her dead and injuring writer-director Joel Souza.
Baldwin’s indie western will have its world premiere at Poland’s Camerimage <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/t/international/">International</a> Film Festival in late November, with Souza expected to appear along with cinematographer Bianca Cline, who stepped in to finish the film after a wrongful death lawsuit was settled in October 2022, the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/rust-premiere-camerimage-alec-baldwin-1236023256/">Hollywood Reporter</a> reported. 
However, sources with knowledge of the situation said that Baldwin, the star of the movie and lead producer, is not expected to be at the premiere.
Organizers called Hutchins the “Ukrainian cinematographer who was part of the festival family,” and said it was always her dream to see the movie premiere at Camerimage, according to the festival.

Speaking recently to <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/story/rust-filmmaker-joel-souza-finally-speaks-about-the-fatal-shooting">Vanity Fair</a>, Souza talked about the fatal shooting, returning to the film set, and finishing the film Hutchins was shooting, making it clear the fatal scene she had shot has vanished “in its entirety.”
“Gone. Not just that, but also a few things leading up to it,” Souza said. “Everything needed to be entirely reconceived there. There were a few things that came before that now wouldn’t make story sense. So we just sort of eliminated it and came up with something entirely different.”
“I’m not going back to that,” he added. “I’m glad you asked. I don’t want anyone who ever does see this to be waiting for that. No one ever pushed to keep anything like that.”
The armorer in charge of weapons on set, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, was previously sentenced to 18 months in prison for her role in Hutchins’ death.
Baldwin was charged with involuntary manslaughter. He faced up to 18 months in prison. However, the charges were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/judge-dismisses-criminal-case-against-alec-baldwin-after-prosecutors-hid-evidence" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dismissed</a> on the third day of his trial in July, with the judge ruling prosecution hid evidence from the defense.
The Camerimage festival will take place Nov. 16-23 in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Toruń, Poland.

Polish journalist and sports commentator Przemyslaw Babiarz has been suspended from the Paris Olympics after labeling John Lennon’s “Imagine” a “vision of communism.”
During the 2024 Olympics, the famed song — written by the late Beatle — was sung by French singer <a href="https://search.yahoo.com/search?p=Juliette%20Armanet">Juliette Armanet</a> at the opening ceremony that took place on the Seine River in Paris on Friday.
While it was playing, the Polish state broadcaster said on air, “This is a vision of communism, unfortunately,” 
The comments immediately triggered a reaction for those watching in Poland, <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/polish-journalist-suspended-calling-imagine-vision-communism-olympic-112335862">ABC News</a> reported.
The public broadcaster Babiarz works for in Warsaw, TVP, later issued a statement that made it clear the well known commentator would not be commenting on air from Paris about any more from the summer Olympic games.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk removed the former TVP management after he <a href="https://apnews.com/article/poland-prime-minister-tusk-government-warsaw-8fd0ac25be8fee9f51ece920f493dc1f">took power</a> in December, and replaced it, Yahoo.com noted. Prior to Tusk’ the TVP was criticized as the mouthpiece of the national-conservative PiS government, 
Conservative President Andrzej Duda and former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki blasted the move by TVP, the outlet noted.
“The truth will defend itself! Your actions will be remembered and censorship will fail,&#8221; Morawiecki wrote on X.
Some of the commentators on the left agreed that that punishment was too harsh for Babiarz, ABC News noted.
Poland’s Conservative leaders also criticized the involvement of drag queens during the opening ceremony at the Olympics and slammed what’s being seen as a parody of The Last Supper.
The Last Supper scene opened with an obese woman wearing an aureole as Jesus surrounded by drag queens as the Apostles, a decapitated head representing Marie Antoinette of the French Revolution, and drag queens dancing around children.
Following the backlash against the Olympics over the anti-Christian scene, Anne Descamps, a spokesperson for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games said at a press conference, “If people have taken any offense we are really sorry.” 
“Clearly there was never an intention to show disrespect to any religious group. (The opening ceremony) tried to celebrate community tolerance,” Descamps told reporters, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/sports/olympics/paris-2024-apologises-any-offence-caused-by-last-supper-sketch-2024-07-28/">via Reuters</a>. “We believe this ambition was achieved.”

At Columbia University, responding to a religious Jew who noted that Israel is the homeland of the Jewish people, Jill Stein, the hard-left presidential candidate for the Green Party, snapped, “The Jews have Poland.”
Roughly half of the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust died in Poland. Additionally, although Ashkenazic Jews were located in Europe, Sephardic Jews have lived in many lands outside of Europe, from the Middle East to Africa.
Stein, who has <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/green-party-nominates-jill-stein-for-president/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">supported</a> the BDS movement targeting Israel, called for ending all aid to the Jewish state, and spoke at the March4Gaza rally in mid-January, declared, “I’m Jewish and I’m here. It’s a Jewish value, opposing genocide. Opposing genocide is a Jewish value. Opposing genocide is a core value.”
The Jewish man near her stated that Israel was the homeland of the Jewish people.
“The Jewish people have Poland,” Stein replied, before launching into a rant in which she accused “Israeli offense forces &#8230; Israel occupation forces” who were there “to further instigate violence here against civilians, against students who are simply standing up for our constitutional rights to have this debate, to have this discussion &#8230;”
Stein then appropriated a phrase that has traditionally applied to Jews to paint Palestinians as victims, saying, “It’s really critical that we stand up because Gazans are the canary in the mine shaft here and what happens in Gaza can happen and will happen anywhere.”

The U.S. State Department has <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ne3dGStTN8Q" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acknowledged</a>, “Jews have often been called the ‘canary in the coal mine.’ Anti-Semitic attacks have often been a sign of a deeper sickness in society; they can warn of coming attacks in other populations.”
In 2019, British Labor MP John Mann, who was appointed as the British government’s adviser on anti-Semitism, <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/new-uk-anti-semitism-adviser-jews-are-the-canary-in-the-coal-mine-for-humanity/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated</a>, “When it comes to fighting anti-Semitism, it’s not enough for us to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Jewish community, when the anti-Semites are throwing the stones of hatred, of bitterness, of bile. We have to stand in front of [Jews] in this fight. This must not be only the responsibility of the Jewish community.”
“I represent a community that was comprised of coal miners,” he continued. “Coal miners who, when this country needed it, spent their lives underground digging coal. And what the coal miners in the collieries in my area did to warn against the impending doom was to take a small bird in a cage down the pit with them. A yellow canary. The Jewish community is the canary in the coal mine for humanity and for the safety and future of my grandchildren. That’s why we have, whether we like it or not, no choice.”

I flew to Kraków, Poland, on Saturday night and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-1889-at-auschwitz-with-elon-musk-member-exclusive" target="_blank" rel="noopener">visited Auschwitz</a> with Elon Musk on Monday.
Auschwitz is an insane experience. For those who have seen images of the Holocaust, seeing the actual structures where mass death was brought upon the Jewish people, as well as Roma homosexuals and Russian soldiers, is an astonishing demonstration of the darkness that is present and possible inside the human soul.
For those who have not visited, it is worth the visit because I think that we tend to live very easy lives — thank God, in the West and in the modern era — and we tend to look around us and see people who are generally good, people who generally believe in non-evil things.
Then you go to a place like Auschwitz and realize it actually is not all that unthinkable for the unthinkable to happen.
I had the privilege when I was younger of helping to write the memoirs of a Holocaust survivor who&#8217;d actually gone through Auschwitz-Birkenau. And the stories obviously are horrifying. 
I think there are many important points to be gained from walking through Auschwitz-Birkenau. The first is to realize that people can be made to believe nearly anything. And this holds true on the side of both the evil people and the people who are victimized by those who are evil.

One of the things you see when you walk through Auschwitz itself, the actual complex, is a room that&#8217;s just filled with suitcases. Every person who brought a suitcase to Auschwitz thought they were going to end up unpacking that suitcase step by step. European Jewry thought that whatever was next couldn&#8217;t be what it turned out to be, all the way until the final step into the gas chambers. So when we criticize people for not having fought back, at what point were they supposed to believe the unthinkable was now thinkable? Because the unthinkable is unthinkable until precisely the moment that it becomes real.

There is very little limit to the evil that can be created in the human heart. That evil can only be masked by ideology. Ideology absolutely matters. It absolutely matters.
To truly understand what happened in Auschwitz-Birkenau, you have to understand German and European history. You have to understand European anti-Semitism. The first and most fundamental thing to understand about anti-Semitism in the modern era is that it is a conspiracy theory about power. When you read the writings of Hitler and those who preceded Hitler by 50, 60, and 70 years — anti-Semitic writings — what you see is that there&#8217;s a conspiracy theory about Jews.
These conspiracy theories assert the powerful in every industry are Jewish, that they are part of an evil conspiracy, and that the only reason they gain power is through some sort of perverse machination, and they, therefore, must be extricated; they must be destroyed. The theory of power suggested they were the exploiters, they had rigged the system on their own behalf, and, therefore, they had to be destroyed.
And that ideology, a self-justifying ideology whereby the people you&#8217;re about to kill are actually the true victimizers, breeds the victimization of Jews and is very much alive and well and with us today.
When we see places like Auschwitz-Birkenau, we think the extent of the horror is so unthinkable and so unimaginable that we tend to cut it off from the rest of human relations. We tend to think, “This is an outlier. It&#8217;s just this crazy statistical outlier.” When, in reality, it is just the culmination of a continuum theory that has been present on Earth for literally thousands of years, going all the way back to the Book of Exodus — the same remarks Pharaoh was making about the Jews, that he felt they were exhibiting rising numbers in power and a threat to the Egyptians. That same stuff was repeated by Hitler, and it&#8217;s being repeated by some people today.
One of the things Elon and I discussed at fair length was diversity, equity, and inclusion. DEI is the basic thesis that the world is driven by power dynamics, that virtually every system is a power dynamic system and that free speech is actually just a stand-in for power. That free markets are standing for power, that those who are successful in these systems are actually perpetuaters of the system for their own exploitative power.
That is a dangerous theory. The theory that power lies behind all systems exists on all sides of the political aisle.
You see people in the West marching on behalf of members of Hamas. The only rationale for LGBT people suggesting they have solidarity with people who would literally murder them the first chance they got in the Gaza Strip is this DEI theory that there&#8217;s a system of power that must be torn to the ground. That merges with anti-Semitism, because, after all, if you&#8217;re making the case that there is a group of people with disproportionate power along racial, ethnic, and religious lines, and they are, therefore, the oppressors and exploiters, that merges well with conspiratorial theories about anti-Semitism.
This is why you see all these streams crossing with the DEI Left. This is why you see Black Lives Matter protesting for “Palestine.” This is why you see people who are socialists protesting on behalf of some of the least socially responsible people on planet Earth.

In the modern world, we have been seeing an attempt to read strength as evil and weakness as virtue. That is a despicable morality because it&#8217;s not moral at all.
In fact, it&#8217;s directly anti-Biblical. The Bible specifically says that if you&#8217;re a judge, you are not allowed to favor either the poor or the rich. Why does the Bible suggest you&#8217;re not allowed to favor the poor when the suggestion by the Left is that you&#8217;ll never favor the poor? The answer is because virtue and wealth are not necessarily connected.
I know very virtuous people who are poor. I know very virtuous people who are rich, and I know many people who are not virtuous, who are both poor and rich. And that makes a difference when it comes to world politics. If you believe the weak are inherently virtuous, that is believing the system itself has made them weak, the system must be torn down, and the people who purport to uphold the system must be destroyed.
That&#8217;s how all of this connects to visiting places like Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Many of the media attacks lobbed at the social media platform X are motivated by gatekeepers in the media who want control of the flow of information, according to tech entrepreneur Elon Musk and Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro.
Musk appeared with Shapiro at the European Jewish Association (EJA) conference in Krakow, Poland, on Monday. Musk and Shapiro discussed topics such as anti-Semitism, free speech, and social media during a roughly hour-long discussion. The conference itself, scheduled to take place from Sunday to Tuesday, focused on the spread of anti-Semitism since Hamas’ invasion of Israel on October 7, the deadliest day for Jews since World War II.
During a discussion on media stories targeting Musk and his social media platform X, Musk and Shapiro agreed that X has become a massive work-around to information censors who manage traditional media outlets.
&#8220;The legacy media for most of my life, up until the past 15 years, performed what they saw as a gatekeeping function. They were the ones who got to define the narrative. They were the ones who got to determine what was appropriate news and what was inappropriate news,” Shapiro said.
“After social media arose, in the early days, the sort of things that you articulate were actually articulated by virtually all the social media heads. [Meta founder] Mark Zuckerberg used to say the kinds of things that you say. [Twitter co-founder] Jack Dorsey used to say the kinds of things that you said,” he continued.
The Daily Wire host said that the social media companies were taken over by “legacy media types” who reverted the platforms back to a gatekeeping function instead of allowing news to spread organically.
“Then there seemed to be an institutional takeover by a lot of legacy media types in terms of the kinds of rules and restrictions that were placed on what you could and could not say on these platforms,” Shapiro said. “Who would get banned, who would not get banned. Advertisers weaponize against, you know, particular outlets if those outlets didn’t follow the dictates that were put forward by these types.”
“And it seems like since you took over, one of the biggest objections of all is that they’re not performing the gatekeeping function anymore. Someone else is,” Shapiro said.
Musk agreed.
“I don’t think there should be a gatekeeping function by a small number of individuals. For newspapers in America, there are about five editors that decide what gets put on the front page or what to focus on or what not to focus on. And most of the other papers just copy them, essentially. But is that really what we want? Do we want just a handful of people deciding what they think is important, or should it be that the people decide what&#8217;s important?” Musk asked.
“I think it should be a sort of an organic thing where the people decide what’s important and what to focus on, not just a handful of editors. And yeah, they don’t like the fact that this power has been taken away from them, but I think it should be,” he added.

Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, owner of the social media giant X, said Monday that media attempts to “cancel” him are driven by fear of competition in the news industry.
Musk appeared with Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro at the European Jewish Association (EJA) conference in Krakow, Poland. Musk and Shapiro covered topics including anti-Semitism, free speech, and the social media age during a roughly hour-long discussion.
As the conversation hit on social media, Shapiro questioned Musk on what is behind numerous hit pieces that have targeted Musk in recent months, especially after his purchase of the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
“The reality is that X is competition for the legacy media. X is where people go to get the most current news and learn about the world. So, the legacy media are our direct competitors, so they’re really going to find every angle to try to cancel X,” Musk responded.
Musk then suggested that X is soaking up market share from the traditional media and outcompeting older print and cable outlets for users’ attention.
“If you want to know why things are happening, look at the incentives, you know? Legacy media has had a tough time with respect to usage,” Musk said.
“The numbers I saw was that the sort of traditional print-cable television viewership went down something like 20-30% last year. On the other hand, X went up roughly the same, roughly 20-30%,” he continued. “It’s a direct competition for people’s attention. So, if there’s some attack they can levy against me, they will.”

The focus of the EJA conference is the rise of anti-Semitism across Europe since the terror group Hamas invaded Israel on October 7, resulting in the murders of roughly 1,200 people and the capture of hundreds more. Shapiro and Musk noted that the Palestinian terror group and its backers in Gaza appear to have gained support in the West in the months since the attack.

The decision has led to a better accounting of the attack and Israel&#8217;s war on Hamas in the public square.
