The attorney for the parents of The Covenant School school shooter notified a court on Thursday that they intend to assign rights of the manifesto to the families of the victims, <a href="https://www.newschannel5.com/news/covenant-attorney-parents-of-shooter-want-to-hand-over-rights-to-victim-families" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to NewsChannel 5.
The news came during a hearing for a lawsuit seeking the release of the writings. The attorney for the killer’s parents reportedly said the documents should be the property of the families and that ownership would be transferred by the end of the week. Once the request goes through, it&#8217;s likely the manifesto will not be made public, the outlet reports.
“If they own the papers, then they have standing over whether they will be released or not,” the attorney <a href="https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/davidson/2023/06/08/ownership-of-shooters-writings-will-transfer-to-covenant-parents/70303146007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
Those who do not want the manifesto to be released, including the school and a group of parents, cite security and safety concerns of the students and staff. Five groups are requesting the documents&#8217; release, including the National Police Association, Tennessee Firearms Association, The Tennessee Star, The Tennessean newspaper, and State Sen. Todd Gardenhire, NewsChannel 5 reports.
The groups argue that since the manifesto is already in the custody of the Metro Nashville Police Department, it&#8217;s essentially <a href="https://www.newschannel5.com/news/covenant-attorney-parents-of-shooter-want-to-hand-over-rights-to-victim-families" target="_blank" rel="noopener">already</a> public record. The documents in question were recovered from the shooter’s car and residence.
The ownership of these writings transferred to the parents of the killer after her death, The Tennessean <a href="https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/davidson/2023/06/08/ownership-of-shooters-writings-will-transfer-to-covenant-parents/70303146007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a>. Under this new development, the ownership would now transfer to the victims&#8217; parents, even though the physical papers would remain in the custody of the Nashville Police Department.
Two weeks ago, Judge I’Ashea Myles permitted groups of Covenant School parents to “intervene” in the public records lawsuit, The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/group-of-covenant-school-parents-moves-to-keep-records-secret" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, with an attorney for the groups arguing that the parents are victims and have a constitutional right to be free from harassment.
Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nashville-police-refuse-to-release-school-shooters-manifesto-citing-pending-lawsuit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in April that the records would be released, but later reversed course and cited the public records lawsuit.

“Due to pending litigation filed this week, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has been advised by counsel to hold in abeyance the release of records related to the shooting at the Covenant School pending orders or direction of the court,” a statement said.
On March 27, 2023, the 28-year-old female, who The Daily Wire is not naming to avoid giving notoriety to shooters, carried out a mass shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, killing three children and three adults. Those victims include Evelyn Dieckhaus, 9; Hallie Scruggs, 9; William Kinney, 9; Cynthia Peak, 61; Katherine Koonce, 60; and Mike Hill, 61.
Federal and local authorities searched the property of the shooter, where they found five laptops, a suicide note, two memoirs, five Covenant School yearbooks, and seven cellphones, according to a search warrant.
Tennessee House Republicans sent a letter to the Nashville chief of police asking for releasing the writings and toxicology reports for the trans-identifying shooter earlier in May, saying the information is vital to understanding the killer’s motives before a special session called by Republican Governor Bill Lee.
“In view of this Court order, it is inaccurate to allege that Metro alone now controls whether documents are released. We cannot do so at this time without violating a court order,&#8221; Metro Nashville Director of Law Wally Dietz said in response.

The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nashville" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nashville</a> Metro Employee Benefit Board voted against covering transgender treatments for city employees on Wednesday despite lobbying by the city’s Democratic mayor, John Cooper.
Cooper told board members that adding such treatments and sex-change surgeries to city employee insurance coverage would improve employee recruitment and retention. Cooper’s arguments failed to sway most of the board members, according to <a href="https://www.axios.com/local/nashville/2023/06/07/benefits-board-gender-affirming-coverage-city-workers-nashville" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Axios</a>.
“Working closely with the LGBTQ caucus, our Administration pushed hard to enact this live-saving change to our health care coverage,” Cooper said in a statement after the measure was voted down. “As a result [of this vote], our trans employees will have to wait at least another year for their rights to be affirmed by their peers on the Benefits Board.”
The vote came the same day that Daily Wire host Matt Walsh <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/matt-walsh-undercover-investigation-catches-trans-health-care-providers-falsifying-patient-info-to-fast-track-sex-change-surgeries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">revealed</a> after an undercover investigation that transgender health care providers are “rubber-stamping” patients to receive transgender treatments even if they do not qualify. The providers purportedly provide letters to patients upon request that argue such procedures should be covered by insurance companies.
The board&#8217;s decision comes amid growing backlash to transgender ideology, especially as the ideology relates to children and grows more pervasive among influential medical groups. Organizations such as the American Medical Association and American Academy of Pediatrics have <a href="https://www.ama-assn.org/press-center/press-releases/ama-states-stop-interfering-health-care-transgender-children" target="_blank" rel="noopener">come</a> <a href="https://www.aap.org/en/news-room/news-releases/aap/2018/aap-policy-statement-urges-support-and-care-of-transgender-and-gender-diverse-children-and-adolescents/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">out</a> in support of “gender-affirming care” that includes hormone treatments and sex-change surgeries for minors in recent years.
States are increasingly moving to block such procedures. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed one such law in March that was scheduled to take effect on July 1. The Department of Justice has sued Tennessee over the law, claiming that it violates the 14 Amendment. A related law intended to shield children from sexually explicit performances was blocked by a federal judge last week.

A <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nashville" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nashville</a> school district became the latest education system to sue several social media companies over growing mental health concerns among students, joining more than 40 nationwide districts demanding accountability from big tech.
The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) reportedly filed a lawsuit against Meta, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Google, WhatsApp, and YouTube due to the &#8220;damages and growing mental health crisis among students.&#8221;
&#8220;Over the past few years, we have observed and experienced a rise in mental health issues, threats of school violence, cyberbullying, inappropriate content, and other challenges, damages and disruptions linked to students&#8217; use of social media – and the lack of protections and controls thereof,&#8221; CMCSS Director Dr. Jean Luna-Vedder said in a news release reported by <a href="https://fox17.com/news/local/lack-of-protections-tennessee-school-district-sues-social-media-companies-tiktok-facebook-instagram-snapchat-google-news-legal-students" target="_blank" rel="noopener">local media</a>.
&#8220;Without cooperation and support from social media companies, CMCSS has been fighting an uphill battle. We need to protect our children, our schools and our society,&#8221; Luna-Vedder added.
Attorneys at the Lewis Thomason law firm representing the district said the issues from such social media platforms had caused further disruptions, increased costs, and safety concerns in the school district.
&#8220;The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System is taking a brave and proactive step to seek accountability and marked changes in the way social media giants interact with children,&#8221; Chris McCarty of Lewis Thomason told a local Fox affiliate.
According to a Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-11982323/More-40-school-districts-America-suing-social-media-giants-mental-health-crisis.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">analysis</a>, more than 40 school districts across the U.S. have filed lawsuits against social media giants, including Facebook, Snapchat, and TikTok, alleging the platforms knowingly cause harm to children with &#8220;malicious&#8221; algorithms.
Children have been subjected to dangerous social media trends, including the &#8220;Blackout Challenge,&#8221; which persuades minors to strangle themselves. Other trends promote self-harm content, such as suicide, self-injury, and eating disorders.

Earlier this year, Seattle Public School District officials filed a 91-page-lawsuit in a U.S. District Court against Facebook, TikTok, Google, Snapchat, and YouTube, arguing that the platforms have caused a public nuisance affecting the district.
&#8220;Defendants have successfully exploited the vulnerable brains of youth, hooking tens of millions of students across the country into positive feedback loops of excessive use and abuse of Defendants&#8217; social media platforms,&#8221; the lawsuit <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/seattle-public-school-district-sues-big-tech-over-mental-health-crisis-among-youth" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reads</a>. &#8220;Worse, the content Defendants curate and direct to youth is too often harmful and exploitive.&#8221;
Such content alleged in the lawsuit accuses social media companies of promoting a &#8220;corpse bride&#8221; diet, eating 300 calories daily, or encouraging self-harm. Other mental health harms the lawsuit accuses big tech of cultivating among the youth include anxiety, cyberbullying, and suicide.
U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy issued an advisory in May, citing a link between spending time on social media and the nation&#8217;s mental health crisis among the youth.
“I’m issuing this advisory because we’re in the middle of a youth mental health crisis, and I’m concerned that social media is contributing to the harms that kids are experiencing,” Murthy told <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/4015544-surgeon-general-issues-advisory-that-social-media-is-contributing-to-youth-mental-health-crisis/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hill</a>.
According to a <a href="https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapsychiatry/fullarticle/2749480" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">2019 study</a>, adolescents between the ages of 12 and 15 who spent over three hours on social media per day had double the risk of developing symptoms of depression and anxiety, and the blame should not be placed entirely on parents who attempt to manage a healthy dose of social media for their children.
“It’s an unreasonable expectation because prior generations never had to experience and manage the rapidly evolving technology that fundamentally changed how kids thought about themselves, how they thought about their friendships and how they saw the world,” said Murthy.
Antigone Davis, head of safety at Meta, told the Daily Mail that the platform aims to reassure every parent that it has developed more than 30 tools to support teens and their families with safe and supportive experiences online.
Such tools include allowing parents to decide when and for how long their teens use Instagram, age verification technology, automatically setting accounts belonging to those under 16 to private when they join Instagram, and sending notifications encouraging teens to take regular breaks.
Other technology the company claims it has invested in assists in finding and removing content related to suicide, self-injury, or eating disorders before users report such incidents on the app.
&#8220;These are complex issues, but we will continue working with parents, experts and regulators such as the state attorneys general to develop new tools, features and policies that meet the needs of teens and their families,&#8221; Davis said.
A Snapchat spokesperson said the company curates content from known creators and publishers and uses human moderation to review user-generated content before it can reach a large audience, which the company claims reduces the spread and discovery of harmful content.
&#8220;Nothing is more important to us than the well-being of our community,&#8221; the spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

The Covenant School in Nashville and a group of its parents will join with the local government in arguing that records related to the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nashville-police-deny-daily-wires-request-for-trans-shooters-manifesto" target="_blank" rel="noopener">March shooting</a> in which a woman who claimed to be transgender killed six at the school should not be released.
Judge I&#8217;Ashea Myles permitted the groups to &#8220;intervene&#8221; in a public records lawsuit, according to The Associated Press. That pits them against journalists and a Republican state senator who want the records, including a &#8220;manifesto,&#8221; to be released as the state considers legislative remedies to prevent further tragedies.
An attorney for the parents, Eric Osborne, argued that the parents are victims who have a constitutional right to be free from harassment. But attorney Nicholas Barry, who represents the Tennessee Star newspaper, said state laws around how victims are treated in the criminal system have no bearing on the Tennessee Public Records Act, according to <a href="https://apnews.com/article/nashville-school-shooting-covenant-eb94f7bbc7bdebb149b3c4ebaead8d0f" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the AP</a>.
Attorney Robb Harvey, who represents two other plaintiffs, said the parents are not crime victims under the law and that their concerns are only speculative since they don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s contained in the records.
Metro Nashville Police Department Chief John Drake told Lee last month that he would release the records shortly before <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nashville-police-refuse-to-release-school-shooters-manifesto-citing-pending-lawsuit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">backtracking</a> by citing the lawsuit over not releasing the records.
The school and Covenant Presbyterian Church said they fear that releasing some materials could put them at risk of another shooting, according to <a href="https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/2023/05/24/covenant-parents-intervene-lawsuit-records-judge-rules/70247784007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the Tennessean newspaper</a>, which is also a party in the lawsuit seeking the records&#8217; release.
The parents, who entered the lawsuit using pseudonyms, also feared the release of the records would &#8220;further traumatize&#8221; their children, the Tennessean reported.
On Wednesday, Nashville&#8217;s legal department said in legal filings that it is invoking five different exemptions to public records laws, including that &#8220;there is an ongoing criminal investigation into the case.&#8221;
The police department denied The Daily Wire&#8217;s public records request on similar grounds, even though the perpetrator is dead after she was killed by police at the scene.
Republican state Sen. Todd Gardenhire is a party to the lawsuit, arguing that the materials need to be released because the public must understand the facts of the shooting before the legislature can craft legislative remedies. Governor Bill Lee has called the body to reconvene for a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/conservatives-slam-tennessee-gov-lee-for-calling-special-session-after-lawmakers-reject-gun-bill" target="_blank" rel="noopener">special session in August</a> that is expected to focus on gun laws.
The plaintiffs did not oppose the church and school&#8217;s limited motions, but opposed the group of parents&#8217; motion, which went further, arguing that it will have a &#8220;chilling effect upon the exercise of fundamental First Amendment rights,&#8221; the Tennessean reported. The judge will consider arguments from the parties on June 8.
A spokesman for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation told the AP that under state law, legislators <a href="https://apnews.com/article/nashville-school-shooting-covenant-eb94f7bbc7bdebb149b3c4ebaead8d0f" target="_blank" rel="noopener">could access</a> the records if a committee passes a resolution, but they have not done so. A spokeswoman for Lee told AP that the governor can also review the records under state law, but he has declined from doing so until police &#8220;provide clarity&#8221; on them for the public.

Lawyers for The Covenant School in Nashville filed a motion on Monday to intervene in lawsuits calling for the release of the 28-year-old female mass shooter&#8217;s manifesto, citing security and safety concerns for staff and students at the private education institution.
Local media reported that school officials are concerned the manifesto could publicize sensitive information about the school, including schematics of the facilities and confidential information about employees and students.
&#8220;The disposition of this action may impair or impede its ability to protect its interests and the privacy of its employees and students,&#8221; the motion reads, according to <a href="https://fox17.com/news/local/the-covenant-school-files-motion-to-protect-interests-amid-manifesto-release-lawsuits-nashville-tennessee-mass-shooting" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox 17 Nashville</a>.
Two months have passed since a female, who identified as a man and who this publication is not naming to avoid giving notoriety to shooters, carried out a mass shooting at the private Presbyterian school that left six dead, including three 9-year-olds. The victims&#8217; names included Evelyn Dieckhaus, 9; Hallie Scruggs, 9; William Kinney, 9; Cynthia Peak, 61; Katherine Koonce, 60; and Mike Hill, 61.
Metro Nashville Police officers fatally shot the woman just minutes after authorities received the first call, according to previous reports. Federal and local authorities searched the property of the female shooter, where they found five laptops, a suicide note, two memoirs, five Covenant School yearbooks, and seven cellphones, according to a search warrant.
Metro Nashville Director of Law Wally Dietz issued a statement to the news outlet supporting the school&#8217;s decision, saying local authorities &#8220;believe the Church and the School have a right to be heard.&#8221;
Nashville officials also filed a response supporting the school&#8217;s motion.
&#8220;The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson does not oppose the intervention of Covenant Presbyterian Church of Nashville or The Covenant School,&#8221; city officials said. &#8220;The Metropolitan Government believes these entities have important interests in whether the documents in MNPD&#8217;s investigative file are released to the public.&#8221;
&#8220;The Metropolitan Government supports their intervention and asks that the Court give them an opportunity to participate in the show cause hearing and consider their interests and arguments,&#8221; the response continued.
Tennessee House Republicans sent a letter to the Nashville chief of police asking for releasing the writings and toxicology reports for the trans-identifying shooter earlier this week, saying the information is vital to understanding the killer&#8217;s motives before a special session called by Republican Governor Bill Lee.
Dietz responded to the letter from Tennessee GOP lawmakers, saying under the view of the court order, &#8220;it is inaccurate to allege that Metro alone now controls whether documents are released.&#8221;
&#8220;The Chancellor ordered Metro to file under seal with the Court unredacted copies of the documents to be discussed at the May 18 status conference for an in camera review by the Chancellor only,&#8221; Dietz said. &#8220;We filed the unredacted documents under seal on Friday, together with our proposed redactions of certain sections of documents based on exceptions to the Tennessee Public Records Act.&#8221;
&#8220;In view of this Court order, it is inaccurate to allege that Metro alone now controls whether documents are released. We cannot do so at this time without violating a court order.&#8221;

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tennessee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tennessee</a> House Republicans have sent a letter to the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nashville" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nashville</a> chief of police asking for the release of the writings and toxicology reports for the trans-identifying shooter who killed six people at a Christian school in March. 
Republicans at the state House, led by House Speaker Cameron Sexton and House Republican Caucus Chair Jeremy Faison, sent the letter on Monday saying the information is vital to understanding the killer&#8217;s motives before a special session called by Republican Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/bill-lee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bill Lee</a>. 
&#8220;In order for this special session to be successful, it is paramount we understand the behavior and motives of the Covenant School perpetrator,” the letter says. “We respectfully request the release of the perpetrator’s writings as well as relevant medical records and toxicology reports.”
The letter, addressed to Chief John Drake, began by thanking Metro Nashville Police Department for its response to the mass shooting, which killed three 9-year-old students and three staff members. 
“We are united in our shared common goal and duty to protect the safety and well-being of Tennesseans. The release of these records is critical to the General Assembly’s ability to construct effective solutions that can prevent future acts of violence. The citizens of this state and their elected representatives must have adequate time to review them,” the letter, signed by 66 Republican representatives, says. 
Lee, who signed a $230 million bill that increases funding for school safety measures last week, has called a special session for August 21 to review potential gun legislation. The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gov-bill-lee-calls-on-legislature-to-pass-red-flag-law-signs-exec-order-intensifying-gun-background-checks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">governor has asked</a> for a type of “red flag” law that he has referred to as “an order of protection law.” 
Republicans in the state assembly have so far resisted calls for red flag-style legislation, arguing that those policies infringe on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/second-amendment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Second Amendment</a> rights. GOP lawmakers have also said they would like more details on the shooter’s motive before considering any legislation.

Nashville police have refrained from releasing the killer&#8217;s manifesto, citing pending legal action. Nashville police previously denied The Daily Wire&#8217;s request for a copy of a manifesto or diary, citing the investigation as &#8220;an open case&#8221; and told The Daily Wire to send another request once authorities close the case.
Nashville police signaled earlier this month that authorities would release the manifesto recovered from the shooter&#8217;s vehicle until &#8216;pending litigation&#8217; further delayed the process.
&#8220;Due to pending litigation filed this week, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has been advised by counsel to hold in abeyance the release of records related to the shooting at The Covenant School pending orders or direction of the court,&#8221; the department <a href="https://twitter.com/MNPDNashville/status/1653777965312798724" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweeted</a> on May 3.
Metro Nashville Council Member Courtney Johnston described the shooter&#8217;s manifesto as a &#8220;blueprint on total destruction,&#8221; which keeps one high-ranking police officer &#8220;up at night,&#8221; according to <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/05/14/nashville-covenant-school-shooters-manifesto-delivered-to-judge/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Post</a>.
Johnston <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blueprint-on-total-destruction-astronomically-dangerous-fbi-delaying-release-of-nashville-shooters-manifesto-officials-say" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that the chilling level of detail in the plan was being used as justification to withhold it, saying, &#8220;that document in the wrong person&#8217;s hands would be astronomically dangerous.&#8221;
County and city officials are scheduled to hold a status conference on May 18 to discuss plans for the June public hearing.

It is honestly hard to pick which one is the best. But a few notable ones would have to be when the person being interviewed was shown a lightning bolt for the Los Angeles Chargers and said it was &#8220;Lightning McQueen for September 17.&#8221; Lightning McQueen is the main character in Disney&#8217;s animated movie &#8220;Cars.&#8221;
Another notable answer would have to be when the person on the street was shown the Atlanta Falcons logo and said, &#8220;This one would have to be the red stallions.&#8221; The bonus was when she put her hand into a claw and roared.

A hotel manager in the Hilton chain has been charged with aggravated burglary and assault after he allegedly entered a hotel guest&#8217;s room without the person&#8217;s permission and sucked on the guest&#8217;s toes.
Night manager 52-year-old David Neal worked at the hotel in downtown Nashville, where the person had checked in for a stay in the town in March, <a href="https://fox8.com/news/hotel-manager-charged-after-entering-guests-room-allegedly-sucking-mans-toes/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox 8</a> reported. The hotel guest told police that he woke up and found the night manager sucking on his toes.
The alleged victim, Pete Brennan of Texas, told Nashville ABC affiliate <a href="https://www.wkrn.com/news/local-news/nashville/why-is-this-person-touching-me-texas-man-files-lawsuit-accusing-hilton-nashville-employee-of-sexual-assault/?ipid=promo-link1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WKRN</a> that he was staying at the Hilton on &#8220;sort of a typical work trip.&#8221;
&#8220;It was almost like a dream, a sort of nightmare,&#8221; he added. &#8220;It just didn&#8217;t make sense. Why is this person touching me?&#8221;
Brennan also told Nashville NBC affiliate <a href="https://www.wsmv.com/2023/05/05/nashville-hotel-employee-custody-after-sneaking-into-guests-room-assaulting-him-police-say/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WSMV-TV,</a> that he &#8220;awoke to a gentleman who had snuck into my room somehow and was sexually assaulting me. It was actually the Hilton manager [who] was the attacker.&#8221;
According to police reports, Neal had allegedly made a key card which he used to sneak into the guest&#8217;s room on March 30 at around 5 a.m. It was then that the hotel guest confronted the manager, after recognizing Neal as the same person who had responded to his room with another employee the day before because the guest was having some kind of trouble with his TV.
Officers spoke with the manager, who reportedly admitted to entering the guest room without permission but said nothing about sucking toes — and claimed he only did so after allegedly smelling smoke and going to make sure Brennan was okay.

Police later said the night manager never reported to security or anyone else that he had smelled smoke nor were there any other reports from anyone in the hotel about a smell of smoke, the outlet noted.
Police said on Friday, Neal was arrested at his home in Lebanon and was booked into jail. He&#8217;s being held on a $27,000 bond.
Brennan has since filed a lawsuit against the Nashville Hilton hotel with his lawyer saying that Neal&#8217;s criminal history should&#8217;ve prevented them from hiring him.
&#8220;Multiple charges of forgery, drinking and driving, a manslaughter conviction as well, which served prison time,&#8221; &#8220;Michael Fisher, one of Brennan’s lawyers, said. &#8220;When Hilton hired this person, they had to have known. They have to do background checks to know, and the fact that they would put somebody like that in a position where they have the ability to clone keys, have the ability to get into a guest&#8217;s room.&#8221;
&#8220;The safety and security of our guests and team members is our highest priority,&#8221; a representative for the Hilton Nashville Downtown hotel told WKRN in a statement. &#8220;We are working closely with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, and, as part of company policy, we do not comment on ongoing investigations.&#8221;

Recording artist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/taylor-swift">Taylor Swift</a> didn’t let a torrential downpour stop her from performing in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nashville">Nashville</a>.
The “Midnight Rain” singer had to delay her <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/music">concert</a> at Nissan Stadium on Sunday night due to lightning strikes in the downtown area, which meant the show didn’t begin until after 10 p.m. and concluded after 1:30 a.m., per a Variety <a href="https://variety.com/2023/music/news/taylor-swift-nashville-rain-lightning-concert-delay-1235605928/">report</a>. Swift kept playing even as the rain fell.
One hour ahead of the scheduled concert time, announcements appeared on big screens and social media warning attendees to shelter in place or stay in their cars if they had not gone inside yet. That warning remained from around 5:30 until around 9:45.
Most of the 70,000 concertgoers stayed for the late show even though they all got soaked. The outlet described the general mood of the crowd as “delirious.” 
“It’s officially a rain show,” the “Shake It Off” composer told the crowd when the skies opened up during her performance. But rather than ending the concert early, Swift kept playing and making jokes.

Dessner replied, “I was lucky to see other shows on this tour, but in the rain it’s even better.” 
At the end of the show, Swift instructed fans to “make some noise for my phenomenal dancers who danced in the rain for you all night. … The fact that you stayed for us, that you gave us everything you had — we love you so much, Nashville. We will never forget this night.”
