Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent declared on Wednesday that he will begin advocating for a ban on individual stock trading in Congress, arguing that major portfolio gains by lawmakers undermine voter confidence in the system.
When pressed during an <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aR85WkgO8bc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> with &#8220;Bloomberg Surveillance&#8221; on whether President Donald Trump is prepared to sign off on stock trading legislation <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/senate-panel-votes-to-ban-stock-trading-for-lawmakers-president-and-vp-but-spares-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">making its way</a> through Congress, Bessent said he did not believe a &#8220;perfect bill&#8221; had been introduced yet, but did express a desire for a crackdown.
&#8220;I am going to start pushing for a single stock trading ban because the — it is the credibility of the House and the Senate that you look at some of these eye-popping returns, whether it&#8217;s Representative Pelosi, Senator Wyden, every hedge fund would be jealous of them,&#8221; Bessent said.

Bessent, a former hedge fund manager, was referring to former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Sen. Pelosi&#8217;s well-known success in the stock market during her time in Congress has drawn intense scrutiny, but it may not be examined by the Securities and Exchange Commission or be a focus of any formal investigation any time soon. In fact, just last month, senators <a href="https://x.com/SenRickScott/status/1950637197272727566" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shot down</a> a measure seeking an inquiry into her trades.
During a recent appearance on CNN, Pelosi <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nancy-pelosi-visibly-perturbed-by-cnns-random-act-of-journalism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">responded</a> to Trump accusing her of insider trading, rejecting the claim.
&#8220;That’s ridiculous,” Pelosi said. &#8220;In fact, I very much support the — stop the trading of members of Congress, not that I think anybody’s doing anything wrong, if they are, they are prosecuted and they go to jail. But because of the confidence it instills in the American people, don’t worry about this. But I have no concern about the obvious investments that have been made over time, I’m not into it, my husband is, but it isn’t anything to do with anything insider.&#8221;
As restrictions already placed on lawmakers have failed to <a href="https://www.notus.org/money/shri-thanedar-stock-act-violation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stop</a> violations, Bessent pointed out that both <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5267113-donald-trump-congressional-stock-trading-ban/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Trump</a> and House Minority Leader Hakeem <a href="https://punchbowl.news/article/house/bipartisan-group-eyes-stock-trading-ban/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jeffries</a> (D-NY) have voiced support for a congressional stock trading ban.
&#8220;The House and the Senate, they&#8217;re supposed to be working for the American people — their constituents,&#8221; Bessent said. &#8220;They&#8217;re supposed to be making law. And they shouldn&#8217;t be trading every day. I&#8217;m not going to name names, but there was one person in Congress who had 12 or 13 hundred trades two years ago. And you know, my hedge fund didn&#8217;t have that many trades.&#8221;
Bessent also warned, &#8220;There&#8217;s something going on on Capitol Hill in terms of information leakage that is statistically &#8230; not sound.&#8221;

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi&#8217;s (D-CA) indignant reaction to a recent question from CNN&#8217;s Jake Tapper gave away the game, revealing just how rare an occasion it is for a member of her party to be held to account by almost anyone in media.
Pelosi&#8217;s name had come up multiple times during spirited debate in the Senate over a bill — presented by Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) — that would bar members of Congress from owning stock. Tapper pressed Pelosi on the issue, using a comment from President Donald Trump to kick off the conversation.

&#8220;I wanted to —&#8221; Tapper tried again, but Pelosi interrupted him again.

Tapper pushed back, saying that he had only &#8220;wanted to give you a chance just to respond. He accused you of insider trading, what&#8217;s your response to that?&#8221;

Pelosi then attempted to make the conversation about President Donald Trump, suggesting that he was only shining a spotlight on her to deflect from something he must have done.

She then pivoted again to claim that the man who entered her San Francisco home and attacked her husband had been &#8220;inspired by [Trump]&#8221; before suggesting that it would be better if they could just go back to talking about Medicaid.
Trump, as he gave remarks from the White House on Wednesday, called for Pelosi to be investigated and claimed, &#8220;Nancy Pelosi became rich by having insider information &#8230; I think that&#8217;s disgraceful &#8230; She has the highest return of practically anybody in the history of Wall Street.&#8221;

President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) should be investigated for insider trading.
The former speaker, along with her venture capitalist husband, has faced allegations of insider trading as her investments outperformed almost every major hedge fund in 2024, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/06/21/us-news/pelosi-added-millions-to-net-worth-last-year-report/">reported</a>.
&#8220;You know, Nancy Pelosi became rich by having inside information. She made a fortune with her husband, and I think that&#8217;s disgraceful,&#8221; Trump <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1950617253952582084">said</a> during a press conference at the White House.
&#8220;And what I do think is Nancy Pelosi should be investigated, because she has the highest return of anybody practically in the history of Wall Street, save a few,&#8221; Trump added. &#8220;And how did that happen? Pelosi denied Trump&#8217;s allegations, calling them &#8220;ridiculous.&#8221;

Trump&#8217;s comments come as the White House pushes back on Sen. Josh Hawley&#8217;s (R-MO) legislation moving through Congress that bans members of Congress, presidents, and vice presidents from trading stocks. Earlier on Wednesday, Trump said he &#8220;conceptually&#8221; supported the bill and said he would &#8220;take a look at it,&#8221; but later, he sounded off on social media, <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114944074791548865">ripping</a> Hawley for voting with Democrats and saying that the senator &#8220;blocked a Review, sponsored by Senator Rick Scott, and with the support of almost all other Republicans, of Nancy Pelosi’s Stock Trading over the last 25 years.&#8221;
In order to get Democrats on board and get the bill out of committee, Hawley added bans on stock trading for the president and vice president, Axios <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/07/29/white-house-lobbies-hawley-stock-trading-ban?__cf_chl_rt_tk=v9FeShaJe9kRh.Vx7PvbEJGvywlNI_9XmqpC9RtUiUI-1753913000-1.0.1.1-ViM7NXL.YFMoNgW53J4tR8B4w_cjg8pg1RWJM0guJE0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Hawley&#8217;s legislation includes a carve-out for Trump and would not require the president to divest his holdings for the remainder of his term, POLITICO <a href="https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2025/07/30/congress/trump-comes-for-hawley-00485868">reported</a>. Hawley emphasized that carve-out and told reporters, “Listen, I want the President to sign the bill, so I’m happy to do whatever it would take to get him to say, ‘Yes, this is good.’”
A Senate panel advanced this version of the bill on Wednesday. Hawley voted with Democrats to advance the bill, with the other Republicans voting against it. It could now get a vote by the full Senate, which has a 53-seat GOP majority.
Pelosi also endorsed the bill.
&#8220;We must have strong transparency, robust accountability and tough enforcement for financial conduct in office because the American people deserve confidence that their elected leaders are serving the public interest — not their personal portfolios,&#8221; Pelosi said in a <a href="https://pelosi.house.gov/news/press-releases/pelosi-statement-support-congressional-stock-trading-ban">statement</a>. &#8220;I strongly support this legislation and look forward to voting for it on the Floor of the House.&#8221;

Hunter Biden is back.
There are a couple of reasons why that matters. One is that Hunter Biden is a stand-in for his father. When Hunter talks, Hunter is speaking for Joe Biden. And when he speaks for Joe Biden, he is speaking for the establishment wing of the Democratic Party.
The second reason is that Hunter Biden&#8217;s exposure of the entire Left for the fraud that it is, because of his father, is quite incredible.
It is worthwhile to remember that Hunter Biden was part of that inner coterie of people surrounding Joe Biden who knew that Joe was unhealthy, mentally unwell, and who left him in place because they were essentially playing at the presidency. When you listen to Hunter, you should understand he was at least partially the actual president of the United States for several years.
So that makes Hunter’s interview with Andrew Callaghan of Channel 5 on YouTube important.
He said Nancy Pelosi drove Biden out of the race. “You know who did not want Kamala Harris to be president and did not want her to be the nominee?” Hunter asked. “Nancy Pelosi didn&#8217;t want her to be; none of Nancy Pelosi&#8217;s people wanted her to be. They wanted an open convention. They wanted a floor fight. I don&#8217;t know what the hell they wanted, but they wanted to be the ones to anoint whoever they were going to anoint to become the next president of the United States. … All I know is that they definitely did not want Kamala Harris, which undermined her, which undermined the campaign.”
He also took some swipes at people like George Clooney and David Axelrod, saying:

He was given the blessing by the Obama team or the Obama people and whoever else, and David Axelrod and whoever the f*** else. &#8230; ‘We are going to insert our judgment over yours.’ We, me, and James Carville, who hasn&#8217;t won a race in 40 f***ing years, and David Axelrod, who had one success in his political life, and that was Barack Obama — and that was because of Barack Obama, not because of David Axelrod and David Plouffe and all of these guys, the Pod Save America guys who were junior speechwriters on Barack Obama&#8217;s Senate staff who have been dining out on the relationship with him for years, making millions of dollars, the Anita Dunns of the world, who&#8217;s made $40, $50 million off the Democratic Party &#8230; I don&#8217;t have to be nice. &#8230; What right do you have to step on a man who&#8217;s given 52 years of his life to the services of this country and decide that you, George Clooney, are going to take out basically a full page ad in The New York Times to undermine the president?</blockquote>
Hunter also suggested that he was totally qualified to be on Burisma&#8217;s board. One of the kind of seamy realities about the last election cycle is that some of it was about Joe Biden&#8217;s age. A lot of it was about a widespread perception of the Biden family&#8217;s absolutely deep and abiding corruption.

Hunter denied he had been put on the board of Burisma for any political reason, which, of course, is absolutely ridiculous. He had no experience in the energy sector. He couldn&#8217;t point out Ukraine on a map, and suddenly he was on the board of a Ukrainian energy firm?
It had nothing to do with his last name being Biden.
The last part of the interview was amusing — Hunter defending himself by making the argument that crack is somehow safer than alcohol, which is a hell of an argument.
But put all of this aside. Put aside the Biden administration and its corruption, the fact that Joe Biden was dead for several years, and that his family was essentially running the government. If you see Hunter as a stand-in for the Joe Biden moderate wing of the Democratic Party, things start to get interesting because Hunter Biden also spoke about policy.
There were two particular issues where Hunter Biden put specific focus: illegal immigration and Israel. These issues are the ones where Democrats are completely at odds with the American people, but they will not let it go. They are more likely to let go of the trans issue than to let go of illegal immigration and open borders, as well as the new flavor of the month, that Palestinians are the great victims in the Middle East, including Hamas, the Palestinian Authority, Islamic Jihad, and all the rest of the terrorist groups.
If you&#8217;re trying to figure out the direction of the Democratic Party, if you&#8217;re trying to get out the divining rod and determine which direction the Democratic Party is going to move into, the more moderate side or the more radical side, here’s the key: the moderates are already caving to the radicals.
They may separate from the trans stuff because it&#8217;s been so wildly unsuccessful for them. But the root cause of the Democratic Party is a belief that America is a great victimizer in the world, and therefore, America ought not to have borders, and also America’s foreign policy should be to abandon any strong ally, as long as it is beneficial to the Democratic Party.
“All these Democrats say you have to talk about and realize that people are really upset about illegal immigration,” he said. “How do you think your hotel room gets cleaned? How do you think you get food on your table? Who do you think washes your dishes? Who do you think does your garden? Who do you think is here, by the sheer, just grit and will that they figured out a way to get here because they thought that they could give themselves and their family a better chance, and he&#8217;s (Trump) somehow convinced all of us that these people are criminals? White men in America are 45 more times likely to commit violent crime than an immigrant.”
He actually concluded that statement by suggesting that we should actually force El Salvador to send back illegal immigrants. Which is funny, since the ones we&#8217;re sending to El Salvador are, by and large, people with actual criminal records.
This is vitally important because Hunter was Joe Biden&#8217;s partially functioning brain during the administration. This is the Democratic Party perspective on illegal immigration: America ought to be an open borders country because unfettered immigration, without any sort of real security, without any sort of concern about cultural assimilation, is an effective good.
That is something the Democratic Party deeply believes in. As we start discussing 2028 candidates understand, there will not be a Democrat on the stage who significantly calls for border security.
It&#8217;s not just with regard to immigration. The Democratic Party also realizes that the energy in its party is very much on the side of third-world-ism.
It&#8217;s the Zoran Mamdani belief that the Third World has been victimized by America and her allies, and therefore the Third World must have her revenge. Hunter was talking about the dramatic increase in antisemitism under his father&#8217;s administration and claimed the real reason for that is because of the Israelis. In other words, after Hamas murdered 1,200 Jews in Israel and took 250 hostage, a couple of dozen of whom are still being held hostage after a year and a half, it&#8217;s Israel&#8217;s fault that antisemitism broke out.
He quoted the noted hater of Israel, Tom Friedman, saying that the worst thing that&#8217;s happened to the Jewish people is the Israeli government. “Jewish people globally, the threats to their lives, the anti-Semitism that it has generated,” he said.
The worst thing that has happened to the Jewish people is the Israeli government, according to Hunter Biden. Then he bragged about how his father tried to hamstring Israel in its pursuit of getting back its hostages and ending Hamas, an actual, honest-to-god, American State Department-designated terrorist group in the Gaza Strip.
“He took away the bunker-busting bombs from the Israelis,” he boasted. “He tried to curtail Netanyahu&#8217;s thing. He forced Netanyahu to open up shipping lanes and aid lanes at the Rafah crossing to be able to get food aid in. He put pressure over and over and over again. And now, by the way, that is not even remotely happening. What is happening is that they were bombing food lines. There is no one in there to be able to record it. &#8230;There have been more journalists killed at this war in Gaza than in any other war combined, and nobody&#8217;s doing anything about it.”
This is propaganda on behalf of Hamas, because the reality is that the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, the GHF, which has been actually facilitating the entry of aid into Gaza, has been denying Hamas access to the food, which is why Hamas is shooting people and then attempting to insinuate itself among the population in order to shoot at Israeli soldiers, who then respond. That is the reality.
But these are the parts of the Democratic base that the Democrats are trying to woo. It is very important to them, illegal immigration, and third-world-ism. There is no systemic immunity for the Democratic Party against the radical base.
It does not exist. So if you think they&#8217;re going to nominate somebody who&#8217;s quasi-moderate in 2028, you’re wrong.
It is not going to happen.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) reintroduced the anti-corruption PELOSI Act on Friday, aiming to ban members of Congress from trading individual stocks, while President Trump signaled he would sign such legislation into law.
The legislation, whose acronym PELOSI stands for &#8220;Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments,&#8221; and is named after former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whose husband has drawn <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/deceptive-tactic-nancy-pelosi-disclosed-180000159.html">scrutiny</a> for millions in suspected insider trading.
&#8220;Members of Congress should be fighting for the people they were elected to serve — not day trading at the expense of their constituents,&#8221; Hawley <a href="https://www.hawley.senate.gov/hawley-reintroduces-pelosi-act-to-ban-congress-from-trading-stocks/">stated</a>, according to a press release from his office.
&#8220;Americans have seen politician after politician turn a profit using information not available to the general public,&#8221; the Missouri Republican added. &#8220;It&#8217;s time we ban all members of Congress from trading and holding stocks and restore Americans&#8217; trust in our nation&#8217;s legislative body.&#8221;
Under Hawley&#8217;s proposal, elected officials and their spouses would be barred from owning individual stocks while serving in Congress.
The legislation would still allow investment in broader financial instruments such as mutual funds, ETFs, and Treasury bonds.
The bill provides a six-month grace period for compliance after enactment. Any lawmaker refusing to divest would face financial penalties and surrender profits to the federal treasury.
The Government Accountability Office would be required to audit congressional compliance with the law within two years of enactment and submit a report to congressional ethics committees, according to the <a href="https://www.hawley.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Hawley-PELOSI-Act.pdf">legislation</a>.
When asked on Friday by a reporter if he would support a ban on congressional stock trading, President Trump said he would “absolutely” sign such a bill.
&#8220;Well, I watched Nancy Pelosi get rich through insider information, and I would be okay with it. If they send that to me, I would do it,&#8221; the President said.

A 2022 New York Times investigation <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2022/09/13/us/politics/congress-members-stock-trading-list.html">identified</a> at least 97 members of Congress who reported stock trades that potentially intersected with their committee work, raising questions about whether elected officials were using privileged information to enrich themselves.
The issue has <a href="https://publicconsultation.org/united-states/stock-trading-by-members-of-congress/">garnered</a> bipartisan support for reform, with polls consistently showing over 80% of Americans favor banning congressional stock trading.
Similar legislation has been introduced in previous sessions of Congress but failed to advance to a floor vote in either chamber despite widespread public support.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt took a swipe at former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) during Tuesday&#8217;s daily briefing, pointing to the California Congresswoman&#8217;s previous statements on tariffs and saying that President Donald Trump was only doing what she&#8217;d suggested.
Leavitt referenced Pelosi&#8217;s stance on tariffs — and specifically, the United States&#8217; trade deficit with communist China — from nearly 30 years earlier, and argued that she should be pleased with the &#8220;retaliatory tariff&#8221; the Trump administration was placing on China.
Pelosi, in a recently-recirculated <a href="https://x.com/ThomasSowell/status/1907875133638705646" target="_blank" rel="noopener">clip</a> from 1996, stood on the House floor and laid out her reasoning for hitting back at China economically — among them the fact that China placed an average tariff of 35% on all goods coming from the United States, and only allowed some 2% of U.S. exports to cross the border into the country. In return, the United States had only a 2% tariff on Chinese goods — and allowed one-third of the goods produced in China to be imported into the country. The result of that deficit was 10,000,000 Chinese jobs supported by U.S. imports compared to only 170,000 American jobs supported by Chinese trade. That, she said, was a &#8220;status quo&#8221; that was unacceptable.
&#8220;On this day, your member of Congress could have drawn the line to say to the President of the United States, do something about this U.S.-China trade relationship that is a job loser for the United States,&#8221; she said at the time.
Leavitt, during Tuesday&#8217;s briefing, referenced that speech, saying, &#8220;Nancy Pelosi said, &#8216;How far does China have to go? How much more oppression? How big a trade deficit? How many jobs have to be lost for the American workers? How much dangerous proliferation has to exist before members of this House of Representatives will say, &#8216;I will not endorse the status quo&#8217;?&#8221;
&#8220;Well, President Trump is finally answering her call,&#8221; Leavitt continued. &#8220;Nancy Pelosi can thank President Trump today for the 104% retaliatory tariff that will be going into effect on China.&#8221;

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) bucked calls from members of his own party to step down after he voted to support a Republican spending bill to keep the government open.
Schumer made the remarks during a Sunday interview on NBC News&#8217; &#8220;Meet The Press&#8221; with host Kristen Welker when he was asked if he was &#8220;feeling pressure to step down.&#8221;
&#8220;Look, I&#8217;m not stepping down,&#8221; Schumer fired back. &#8220;And let me just say this, Kristen. I knew when I cast my vote against the government shutdown that there would be a lot of controversy. And there was.&#8221;
&#8220;But let me tell you and your audience why I did it, why I felt it was so important,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;The CR was certainly bad, you know, the continuing resolution. But a shutdown would be 15 or 20 times worse. Under a shutdown, the Executive Branch has sole power to determine what is &#8216;essential.&#8217; And they can determine without any court supervision. The courts have ruled it&#8217;s solely up to the executive what to shut down. With Musk, and DOGE, and Trump, and this guy Vought, they would eviscerate the federal government.&#8221;
Welker later pressed Schumer over whether he was &#8220;making the same mistake that President Biden did&#8221; when he decided to run for re-election and later had to bow out at the last moment because of a disastrous debate performance against President Donald Trump.
&#8220;No, absolutely not,&#8221; Schumer said. &#8220;I did this out of conviction. And, look, in my caucus, we have a disagreement as to some people voted one way, some people voted the other. But we&#8217;ve all agreed to respect each other because each side saw why the other side felt so strongly about it. And our caucus is united in fighting Donald Trump every step of the way.&#8221;
Schumer also addressed criticism from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who claimed that Schumer gave into Republican demands and did not secure anything in return.
&#8220;Well, what we got, at the end of the day, is avoiding the horror of a shutdown,&#8221; Schumer replied. &#8220;There was no leverage point that we could&#8217;ve asked for things, they just would&#8217;ve said no. And because they control — let&#8217;s not forget, they control the House and Senate — they could force a vote, yes or no on the CR, without any additions.&#8221;

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) delivered a back-handed insult to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) over his eleventh-hour conversion on the Republican-led Continuing Resolution that passed on Friday, ensuring that the federal government would be funded through September.
Pelosi — who voted with nearly all of the Democrats in the lower chamber (save Maine&#8217;s Rep. Jared Golden) against the stopgap measure — suggested that Schumer had essentially given away his vote, giving President Donald Trump and the Republicans a win without getting anything in return for his own party.
&#8220;I myself don’t give away anything for nothing,&#8221; Pelosi said at a Tuesday <a href="https://sfstandard.com/2025/03/18/san-francisco-nancy-pelosi-chuck-schumer-medicaid-government-shutdown/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press conference</a> in her hometown of San Francisco. &#8220;And I think that’s what happened the other day.&#8221;
Pelosi had <a href="https://pelosi.house.gov/news/press-releases/pelosi-statement-government-funding-bill-senate">lauded</a> her successor in House leadership, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), and called on her party to reject the CR: &#8220;I salute Leader Hakeem Jeffries for his courageous rejection of this false choice, and I am proud of my colleagues in the House Democratic Caucus for their overwhelming vote against this bill.&#8221;
She went on to suggest that any shutdown would be blamed on President Trump in spite of the fact that Democrats — in the Senate in particular — were the only ones with the power to either push the bill across the finish line or stop it in its tracks. &#8220;America has experienced a Trump shutdown before – but this damaging legislation only makes matters worse. Democrats must not buy into this false choice. We must fight back for a better way,&#8221; she said.
Schumer argued that a shutdown, given the optics, would be far more damaging to the Democratic Party as a whole than the passage of the CR — but his party, thus far, does not appear to be buying his argument.
The Senate leader was even on his heels on ABC&#8217;s &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-think-you-caved-schumer-gets-an-absolute-grilling-on-the-view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The View</a>&#8221; — which would typically be a relatively friendly audience for Democrats — as several of the hosts questioned not just his vote but also his leadership moving forward.
Even Jeffries, who typically would not cross Schumer in public, refused to answer when asked whether he felt the longtime senator was still the right person to lead the Senate.
One unnamed House Democrat, according to an <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/03/19/chuck-schumer-house-democrats-hakeem-jeffries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Axios report</a> published on Tuesday, said that Schumer&#8217;s popularity within the party was &#8220;hovering somewhere between Elon Musk and the Ebola virus.&#8221;

Using props has reportedly been discussed, including noisemakers, signs with anti-Trump or anti-DOGE messages, hand clappers, and red cards.
Some Democrats are considering coordinating their clothes by using colors to protest: The Democratic Women&#8217;s Caucus wants its members to wear pink; female members of the Congressional Black Caucus might wear black; Ukraine supporters could show up wearing blue and yellow.
“Some Democrats have announced that they are bringing former federal employees as their guests, as part of a protest of the Trump administration’s mass firings,” The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/04/us/politics/trump-speech-what-to-watch.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
In 2020, as she sat behind Trump, Pelosi made a grand show of ripping Trump’s speech four times. As reported by Martin, Nancy Pelosi has received a wave of &#8220;messages, flowers and calls of concern from heads of state, colleagues in both parties and even royalty&#8221; since breaking her hip in Europe last month, but &#8220;it’s who she has not heard from that’s most remarkable, and that has infuriated Pelosi’s friends and family: Joe and Jill Biden.&#8221;
Martin wrote that he was informed that Nancy Pelosi has tried multiple times to speak with Joe Biden, only to be turned down. &#8220;She’s been told they’re not over it, don’t make more overtures because he’s blaming her,&#8221; an insider told the columnist. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has confirmed through a spokesman that she will not attend President-elect Donald Trump&#8217;s inauguration on Monday.
Pelosi, who attended Trump&#8217;s inauguration back in 2017, did not give a reason for skipping out on the swearing-in ceremony.
Notably, the Democrat broke her hip in December and soon after had hip replacement surgery. Still, Pelosi, using a walker, attended a ceremony for the late former President Jimmy Carter earlier this month and also attended a joint session of Congress to ratify Trump&#8217;s win on January 6.
Pelosi has attended 11 presidential inaugurations in total, <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/abc-former-speaker-nancy-pelosi-attend-trumps-inauguration/story?id=117747765&amp;cid=social_twitter_abcn" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to ABC News.

Many legal scholars and Trump supporters view the lawsuits and prosecution of the president-elect as mere lawfare meant to harm him politically.

The Washington Post published a <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/style/power/2025/01/15/jill-biden-interview-first-lady/?utm_campaign=wp_main&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> on Wednesday about its &#8220;exit interview&#8221; with Jill Biden, noting that the first lady has become the &#8220;keeper of the family grudges&#8221; — a nod to what she wrote in her 2019 memoir about recalling &#8220;every slight committed&#8221; against the people that she loves.
&#8220;Which brings us to Nancy Pelosi, whom Jill has known nearly as long as Joe,&#8221; the report said. &#8220;Who had been a close friend to Joe as they ascended to the highest tier of American politics. Harris ended up losing to Trump.
During this time, CNN <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/17/politics/nancy-pelosi-biden-conversation/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> Pelosi privately told Biden that polls showed he could not defeat Trump like he did in 2020 and that he could hurt other members of his party in down-ticket races if he did not bow out. And, in what is widely viewed as a key tipping point — the MSNBC interview — Pelosi <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/nancy-pelosi-stops-short-saying-biden-stay-race-says-time-running-shor-rcna161097" target="_blank" rel="noopener">emphasized</a> that she would support whatever decision Biden made about his political future at a time when the president was already insisting he would not leave the race. &#8220;It’s up to the president to decide if he is going to run,&#8221; she said. After Harris lost the presidential election to Trump, Pelosi appeared to blame the outcome on Joe Biden during an interview with <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/08/us/politics/pelosi-harris-biden-open-primary.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Times</a>.
&#8220;Had the president gotten out sooner, there may have been other candidates in the race,” Pelosi <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pelosi-blames-kamalas-loss-on-joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, adding, &#8220;The anticipation was that, if the president were to step aside, that there would be an open primary.&#8221;
