The four-time Grammy Award-nominated singer, 32, took to the field at Globe Life Field before the competition began. After her performance, social media exploded with viewers comparing her “Star Spangled Banner” performance to Fergie’s disastrous 2018 attempt and Maya Rudolph performing a parody of the song on “SNL.”
&#8220;My ears are bleeding. One of the worst national anthem renditions ever,&#8221; one X user <a href="https://x.com/michaelschwab13/status/1813004225926078866">wrote</a> in response to the performance.

Pride Month, celebrated annually in June, has turned into a massive display by companies, celebrities, and politicians seeking to show their support for the LGBT community from June 1 to June 30. As with years past, Pride parades are also scheduled in cities and towns across the U.S. where lesbian, gay, and trans-identifying people will celebrate their sexual identities in the streets while waving rainbow flags.

Ángel Hernández, the umpire who was the target of heavy criticism over blown calls and sued Major League Baseball in 2017, claiming racial discrimination, is retiring after over 30 years as a major league umpire.
MLB and Hernández, 62, reached a financial settlement over the weekend, USA Today <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2024/05/27/angel-hernandez-retires-mlb-umpire-stats/73873676007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
&#8220;Starting with my first major league game in 1991, I have had the very good experience of living out my childhood dream of umpiring in the major leagues,” Hernández said in a statement. “I treasured the camaraderie of my colleagues and the friendships I have made along the way. I have decided that I want to spend more time with my family.&#8221;
Hernández claimed in his lawsuit that he was denied a crew chief position and World Series assignments because of his race, but a U.S. District Court in 2021 dismissed the case, later upheld by the 2nd Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
“Hernández has failed to establish a statistically significant disparity between the promotion rates of white and minority umpires,” the appeals court stated. “MLB has provided persuasive expert evidence demonstrating that, during the years at issue, the difference in crew chief promotion rates between white and minority umpires was not statistically significant. Hernández offers no explanation as to why MLB’s statistical evidence is unreliable.”
The Athletic <a style="font-weight: 400;" href="https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40231476/mlb-umpire-angel-hernandez-retiring" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that last week, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred discussed the grading system for umpires, saying, &#8220;There is, in fact, a really detailed evaluation system. They get evaluated twice a year, in mid-season, and at the end of the season. There are monetary ramifications to those evaluations in terms of what they get in terms of postseason assignments, which is a big part of — a big increment to what they earn. And there are, in fact, mandatory remedial activities that are more frequently than people realize imposed on umpires.”
&#8220;Having said that, I think that the management of umpires is &#8230; a physically demanding job,” he continued. “It goes beyond just the evaluation, training and discipline. It also goes to things like thinking about their career path, how long should they be out there? And that implicates things like your retirement program. I mean, there&#8217;s a lot to the management of it that I don&#8217;t think everybody fully appreciates.&#8221;
&#8220;There have been many positive changes in the game of baseball since I first entered the profession,&#8221; Hernández said in his statement Monday. &#8220;This includes the expansion and promotion of minorities. I am proud that I was able to be an active participant in that goal while being a major league umpire.&#8221;

In Game 3 of the 2018 American League Division Series between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, Hernandez made three calls that were overturned. On April 12, 2018, he called three consecutive pitches outside the strike zone as strikes and miscalled seven other pitches.
“Ángel was horrible,&#8221; Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez chafed after the 2018 playoff game. “Don’t get me going on Ángel now. Major League Baseball needs to do something about Ángel. It doesn’t matter how many times he sues Major League Baseball, he’s as bad as there is.&#8221;
Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia echoed, “I don’t understand why he’s doing these games. He’s always bad. He’s a bad umpire.&#8221;

Things got wild on Tuesday night during the Brewers-Rays game in Milwaukee when two players started throwing punches, resulting in four suspensions over the brawl.
It happened at American Family Field in the eighth inning when Jose Siri — for the Tampa Bay Rays — grounded out against Brewers pitcher Abner Uribe, leading to words being exchanged between the players, the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/rays-brewers-fight-0ce4ffb5461f204cc1c0675279d902d5">Associated Press</a> reported.
In the <a href="https://x.com/BBCSport/status/1785658454813610481">clip</a> on social media, the umpire then got in between the two players attempting to cool things off, before Uribe took a giant swing at Siri —followed by the Rays player hitting right back.
In just a matter of seconds, the Brewers and Rays dugouts and bullpens completely emptied out, with multiple players now involved in the huge brawl.
Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins could be seen trying to break things up before he got pushed to the ground.
“I don’t know who said something first but I saw them talking to each other somewhat discreetly and then off it went,” Hoskins told the AP.

Speaking to the press Siri said — through an interpreter — “He [Uribe] was the one who threw first. I don&#8217;t think I did anything bad,&#8221; <a href="https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40064273/four-suspended-roles-brewers-rays-brawl">ESPN</a> reported.
&#8220;When I was in the on-deck circle and he was warming up I felt like he kept looking over at me and staring at me, so I just had that feeling,&#8221; he added. &#8220;Obviously, when I went to first base, I confirmed that he had a problem with me.&#8221;
Before the brawl, things had started to get tense between the two teams after Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta appeared to intentionally throw a ball at Siri, hitting him with a 3-0 fastball, leading to ejections for Peralta and Brewers manager Pat Murphy, the AP noted.
The move resulted in Peralta being taken off the pitcher’s mound and replaced by Uribe.
On Wednesday, the MLB announced varied suspensions for the three Milwaukee players and Siri, with all four being fined, the outlet noted.
Uribe got a six-game suspension for the brawl with Siri, while Peralta was suspended for five games for allegedly intentionally throwing at Siri in the sixth inning, something he has denied.
“There was no reason for me to hit him,” Peralta said. “My pitch count was really low and my goal tonight was to go deep into the game and give our bullpen a breather because they’ve been working a lot, so there was no reason to hit him.”
The Rays player initially received a three-game suspension that was reduced to two, and Murphy will also be forced to sit out for two games as a result of Peralta&#8217;s actions.

An <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/arizona">Arizona</a> woman who claimed former MLB pitcher Trevor Bauer sexually assaulted her has been charged with extorting him.
Darcy Esemonu has been indicted by a grand jury for fraudulent schemes and theft by extortion, both felonies, ESPN <a href="https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39958530/trevor-bauer-accuser-indicted-fraud-arizona" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. She is scheduled for arraignment on April 26 in Maricopa County.
Esemonu “knowingly did obtain a benefit from &#8230; Trevor Anthony Bauer by means of fraudulent pretenses, representation, promises, or material omissions,&#8221; the indictment against her says. She also &#8220;knowingly did obtain or sought to obtain property or services &#8230; by means of a threat to in the future expose a secret or an asserted fact in a social media message or in any other manner&#8221; involving a second man, who is not associated with Bauer.
In 2022, Esemonu filed a lawsuit against Bauer, claiming he sexually assaulted her in 2020 and that she had become pregnant from the encounter. She later updated that lawsuit in 2023. Bauer countersued, saying his encounter with Esemonu “was consensual” and alleging that she tried to harass and extort money from him after he was accused of sexual assault by several other women.
Bauer’s attorneys told ESPN that Esemonu demanded $3.6 million from Bauer, claiming he “forced her to have an abortion.” When he refused to pay her the money, “she made up a bogus sexual assault claim and filed a civil suit against” Bauer.
Esemonu reported the alleged sexual assault to police a week after she filed her lawsuit. Police reports obtained by ESPN show that Esemonu &#8220;initially stated she had a miscarriage, but later referred to the miscarriage as an abortion” when talking to police. Later, she told police there was no abortion but that she miscarried just before heading to a clinic in a different state. A police detective noted in the reports that none of the medical records Esemonu provided indicated that she “was in fact pregnant.”
In January 2023, Bauer’s attorney, Anne Chapman, filed a criminal complaint with the Scottsdale Police Department – the same police department where Esemonu made her allegations – and said the woman “had demanded financial compensation from her client for a pregnancy and abortion that was alleged to be false.&#8221;
Bauer was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/next-victim-star-pitcher-for-the-dodgers-trevor-bauer-reveals-texts-from-his-accuser-following-settlement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">also accused</a> of sexual assault by Lindsey Hill, who also claimed the former star pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers beat her.
He never faced charges relating to the allegations, and a restraining order filed by Hill was denied. Bauer always maintained that the rough sex between him and Hill was consensual.
Once the settlement was announced, Bauer released <a href="https://twitter.com/BauerOutage/status/1708904525724270659?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1708904525724270659%7Ctwgr%5E87b30e1ab225617b6890c095bb4047a5c5643ad0%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailywire.com%2Fnews%2Fnext-victim-star-pitcher-for-the-dodgers-trevor-bauer-reveals-texts-from-his-accuser-following-settlement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a video</a> revealing some of the text messages Hill had sent to her friends prior to meeting Bauer and after their encounter, which suggests she had always been focused on getting money from him.
“’Next victim. Star pitcher for the Dodgers,&#8217;” Bauer begins in the video with a picture of Hill’s text. “A text Lindsey Hill sent to a friend before she ever even met me. ‘What should I steal?’ she asked another, in reference to visiting my house for the first time. The answer? ‘Take his money.’ So how might that work? ‘I’m going to his house Wednesday.’ she said, ‘I already have my hooks in. You know how I roll.’ Then, after the first time we met, “Net worth is 51 mil” she said. ‘b—h, you better secure the bag’, was the response.”
“But how was she going to do that?” Bauer continued. “‘Need daddy to choke me out,’ she said. ‘being an absolute whore to try to get in on his 51 million,’ read another text. Then, after the second time we met, former [San Diego] Padres pitcher Jacob Nix told her ‘you gotta get this bag.’ ‘I’ll give you 50,000’ Lindsey replied. Her AA sponsor asked her at one point, ‘do you feel a tiny bit guilty?’ ‘Not really,’ she replied.”
Bauer said these messages were “deliberately and unlawfully concealed from me and my legal team” until he filed his lawsuit against Hill and the case entered discovery.

He also played a video taken just minutes before Hill left Bauer’s house in the morning after the alleged assault, showing her in bed next to him smirking at the camera with no evidence of injury or distress.
He said Hill’s legal team had approached him for money, but after this evidence was turned over, they approached with a settlement offer that included no money. He agreed to a settlement that allowed him to publicly discuss the case since he could not do so for legal reasons prior.
Bauer was suspended for 324 games because of the allegations, but an independent arbitrator reduced that ban to 194 games in December, Fox reported. No team picked him up, so he began playing in Japan for the Yokohama DeNa Baystars, where he was 10-4 with a 2.76 ERA and 130 strikeouts in 19 games.

The Major League Baseball video game “MLB The Show” is introducing women players in its 2024 edition of the game even though professional women’s baseball doesn’t exist.
For the first time, gamers will be able to create and play with a woman baseball player in the “Road to the Show: Women Pave Their Way” game mode. The “Road to the Show” game mode, which has been a staple of &#8220;The Show&#8221; throughout the years, allows users to customize a player and play through an MLB career.
Mollie Braley, a narrative designer, for “MLB The Show” told <a href="https://blog.playstation.com/2024/03/05/mlb-the-show-24-unveils-road-to-the-show-women-pave-their-way/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PlayStation.Blog</a> that the game’s new feature allowing people to play as women “was inspired by the stories of women in baseball.”
“Throughout history, women have been making waves in the sport,” Braley added. “These include legends such as Toni Stone, who was one of the first women ever to play professional baseball, and has a new Storyline in MLB The Show 24. Our team wanted to create something where dreams become a reality, and we felt like adding this to Road to the Show was the perfect opportunity that gave our players the option to experience this.”

Stone played baseball for the Indianapolis Clowns, a Negro League team, in 1953, becoming the first woman to play for a professional baseball team, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/1996/11/10/sports/toni-stone-75-first-woman-to-play-big-league-baseball.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The New York Times. The female baseball player joined three other teams in the Negro League before retiring from the sport just a year later.
While women play for the USA Baseball national team, which participates in world tournaments over the summer, there are no professional or collegiate women&#8217;s baseball teams. Women also play fastpitch softball at the college and professional levels, but even professional softball differs greatly from Major League Baseball in numerous ways from the size of the ball to the distance between bases.
“MLB The Show’s” move to add women into the game comes after other sports video games, such as NBA 2K and FIFA, have allowed gamers to play with women’s teams in recent years.
“This new gameplay experience is a unique pivot in the baseball world that will encourage, inspire, and motivate individuals to chase their dreams,” said Kelsie Whitmore, who plays on the Women’s USA Baseball National Team.

MLB pitcher Erik Swanson will be away from the team &#8220;for a while&#8221; following his four-year-old son&#8217;s hospitalization after he was struck by a car in Florida near the team&#8217;s spring training complex.
Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider announced that Swanson&#8217;s son Toby was hit by a car on Sunday in Clearwater, Florida, the <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/02/27/sports/blue-jays-pitcher-erik-swansons-son-struck-by-car-airlifted-to-hospital/">New York Post</a> reported.
&#8220;Thanks to the incredible work from the Clearwater first responders, Toby is on the road to recovery and is surrounded by his family,&#8221; Schneider said, before he said that the Blue Jays pitcher will be away from the team &#8220;for a while.&#8221;
&#8220;The guys have been phenomenal so far,&#8221; Schneider added, of his team&#8217;s support for Swanson and family. &#8220;And you can&#8217;t forget about players wives and significant others who have reached out. According to a police report, <a href="https://torontosun.com/sports/baseball/toronto-blue-jays/son-of-swanson-airlifted-to-hospital-after-being-struck-by-car">by the Toronto Sun,</a> Toby was hit by a Ford Expedition near a hotel in Clearwater. Swanson’s son had to be airlifted to All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg where he remains in critical condition, the outlet noted.
The MLB pitcher and his wife Madison, have yet to speak publicly about what happened. The two also share a one-year-old daughter Parker Kari, the outlet noted.
Earlier this month, Swanson shared a couple of cute pictures of himself and his young son walking through a parking lot where the spring training center is located.

Notably, Bauer was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/next-victim-star-pitcher-for-the-dodgers-trevor-bauer-reveals-texts-from-his-accuser-following-settlement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">never charged</a> with a crime and was placed on administrative leave by his then-team before any investigation was ever conducted.

Former Pittsburgh Pirates all-star closer Felipe Vazquez was deported back to Venezuela recently after being convicted of various child sex crimes.
Vazquez — who was suspended by Major League Baseball and the Pirates in 2019 after allegations of child solicitation were introduced — was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mlb-all-star-found-guilty-of-possessing-child-porn-sexually-abusing-13-year-old-girl-he-called-his-slave">found guilty</a> in May 2021 on 15 counts, including statutory sexual assault, sexual abuse of children, and child pornography. He was sentenced to two years in prison on August 17, 2021.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said in a statement late last week that an immigration judge with the Justice Department’s Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) in Cleveland, Ohio, ordered on May 31, 2023 that Rivero must be deported back to Venezuela.
“Rivero Blanco’s removal demonstrates ERO Philadelphia’s commitment to protecting U.S. persons from predators regardless of their public persona or status,” said ERO Philadelphia Field Office Director Cammilla Wamsley.

The mother sent Vazquez a message telling him her daughter was a minor before contacting police.

After his arrest, Vazquez told police he had “sex but not really” with the then 13-year-old girl in 2017.
According to Westmoreland County Assistant District Attorney James Lazar, Vazquez said the two started talking in the summer of 2017 when she reached out to him to wish him a happy birthday, after which Vazquez asked that the conversation be moved to Snapchat.
As reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the victim testified that she and Vazquez had sex in his car in 2017 when she was 13 years old. Vazquez said the girl had sent him a photo of an ID showing her to be of legal age, a claim the victim disputes.
During the trial, the prosecution presented text messages that appeared to show Vazquez referring to the victim as his “slave” and “possession.”
The two continued to exchange messages, including one in December 2019 when she told him that she was at Walt Disney World, and Vazquez responded by telling her to “give up” pictures of her body. She later sent him a picture in her underwear, and Vazquez said, “Wow look at you. Not the one little kid I meet three years ago anymore.”

Lindsey Hill, who accused former MLB pitcher Trevor Bauer of rape and assault, had a 27-minute phone conversation with him in the days after the alleged assault.
The call was secretly recorded by the Pasadena Police Department with Hill’s cooperation, and was publicly released on Thursday, just days after Bauer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/next-victim-star-pitcher-for-the-dodgers-trevor-bauer-reveals-texts-from-his-accuser-following-settlement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">revealed text messages</a> showing Hill was asking friends about how to get Bauer&#8217;s money even before she met him in person. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office declined to charge Bauer, but Hill used the phone call as evidence against the pitcher in her lawsuit.
Hill apparently told Bauer about her alleged injuries from their second sexual encounter, injuries that were not present in a video she filmed of herself lying in bed with Bauer the morning after this allegedly violent encounter. The video also shows Hill smirking at the camera and in no distress.
But in the May 22, 2021, phone call, <a href="https://www.legalaffairsandtrials.com/p/never-said-that-i-wanted-to-be-punched" target="_blank" rel="noopener">obtained</a> by Legal Affairs and Trials, Hill leads Bauer into a conversation about him allegedly crossing boundaries. Throughout the phone call, Bauer maintains that he kept asking Hill “Do you want to stop? Are you OK?” but she told him to keep going.
Later in the phone call, Hill said that she wanted them both to “accept boundaries and, like, move forward, but, like, for my own peace of mind, like, I just have to communicate, like, I never, like, said it was a free for all.” Bauer replied that he never meant to hurt her.
He also told her that he was confused that she could have sustained the injuries she claimed to have based on their activity.
“We, like, checked multiple times about having a safe word and, like, and all that, like, I thought that it was, like — I thought you were OK,” he said. “I would check multiple times like, ‘Hey are you OK? You want to stop or not?’ You said no. So, like, I was — that was kinda my way of, like, trying to make sure that we weren’t crossing any boundaries.”
Bauer has always maintained that the pair had rough sex, but that it was consensual. On Monday, the two settled their lawsuits against each other with neither paying a penny to the other. Hill, however, will receive $300,000 from her insurance company.

After the phone call was released, Bauer&#8217;s attorneys, Jon Fetterolf and Shawn Holley, issued a statement noting that the phone call proves what Bauer has always said about his innocence.
&#8220;Trevor Bauer and Lindsey Hill had consensual rough sex and the pretext call confirms that his version of events — the truth — never wavered, despite her attempts to get him to admit what she told the police,&#8221; the attorneys said.
&#8220;Throughout the call, Mr. Bauer politely disagreed with her assessment multiple times while still trying to be thoughtful and courteous to a person he believed was a friend, rather than a person trying to deliberately set him up by recording this call, unbeknownst to him, with the police,&#8221; the added. &#8220;He continuously notes that they discussed her preferences and boundaries in advance; how she asked him to be physical; how he checked on her multiple times during intercourse to confirm she was enjoying herself and to ensure that she wanted to continue; that he was following her lead; that it was his understanding—based on what she had told him—that she was experienced with and enjoyed rough sex; and he expressed his confusion at her alleged injuries given what did and did not take place. While there was consensual slapping at her request, he never punched Ms. Hill.&#8221;

“Now over the last two years, I’ve been forced to defend my integrity and my reputation in a very public setting, but hopefully this is the last time I have to do so, as I’d prefer to just remain focused on doing my job, winning baseball games and entertaining fans around the world. So today I’m happy to be moving on with my life,” Bauer concluded his video.
After the settlement, Bauer’s attorneys released a statement.
“Trevor Bauer and Lindsey Hill have settled all outstanding litigation,” Bauer’s attorneys, Jon Fetterolf and Shawn Holley, said in a statement on Monday, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/trevor-bauer-settles-legal-dispute-accuser-reveals-damning-messages" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to Fox News</a>. “Both of their respective claims have been withdrawn with prejudice, effective today. Mr. Bauer did not make — and never has made — any payments to Ms. Hill, including to resolve their litigation. “
“With this matter now at rest, Mr. Bauer can focus completely on baseball,” the attorneys added.
Bauer was suspended for 324 games due solely to the allegations, but that ban was reduced to 194 games by an independent arbitrator in December, Fox reported. No team picked him up, so he began playing in Japan for the Yokohama DeNa Baystars, where he was 10-4 with a 2.76 ERA and 130 strikeouts in 19 games.

&#8220;Trevor Bauer and Lindsey Hill have settled all outstanding litigation,&#8221; Bauer’s attorneys, Jon Fetterolf and Shawn Holley, said in a statement on Monday, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/trevor-bauer-settles-legal-dispute-accuser-reveals-damning-messages" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to Fox News</a>. &#8220;Both of their respective claims have been withdrawn with prejudice, effective today. Mr. Bauer did not make — and never has made — any payments to Ms. Hill, including to resolve their litigation. “
&#8220;With this matter now at rest, Mr. Bauer can focus completely on baseball,&#8221; the attorneys added.
Bauer was suspended for 324 games due solely to the allegations, but that ban was reduced to 194 games by an independent arbitrator in December, Fox reported. No team picked him up, so he began playing in Japan for the Yokohama DeNa Baystars, where he was 10-4 with a 2.76 ERA and 130 strikeouts in 19 games.

In March 2022, Bauer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trevor-bauer-suing-the-athletic-for-defamation-over-sexual-assault-allegations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sued</a> The Athletic for defamation after it reported that Hill sustained a fractured skull due to Bauer’s alleged attack. Bauer in his lawsuit said the Athletic had access to Hill’s medical records, which showed no skull fracture, yet published the information anyway.
“While this is not the time or the place to address every single lie or falsehood that this woman or her lawyers made to the court, I do want to be crystal clear about a few things,” Bauer said in a February 2022 video in which he defended himself. “I never punched this woman in the face. I never punched her in the vagina. I never scratched her face. I never had anal sex with her or sodomized her in any way. I never assaulted her in any way at any time. While we did have consensual rough sex, the disturbing acts and conduct that she described simply did not occur.”
Bauer eventually dropped his lawsuit against the Athletic.
He later sued Hill for defamation, but she countersued. The two settled and exchanged no money, though Hill will receive $300,000 from her insurance company, which is independent of her settlement with Bauer.

The UK’s Sunday Times has released a &#8220;bombshell&#8221; investigation, as described by HotAir.com, reporting that the COVID-19 virus was indeed created at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in collaboration with the Chinese military. The report also alleges that some of the funding came from the controversial EcoHealth Alliance, which is funded in part by American taxpayers through grants. The Times says it “reviewed hundreds of documents, including previously confidential reports, internal memos, scientific papers and email correspondence” from the three years prior to the pandemic. The outlet “also interviewed the US State Department investigators — including experts on China, emerging pandemic threats, and biowarfare — who conducted the first significant US inquiry into the origins of the Covid-19 outbreak.”  A recap of that investigation can be read here.

The origin of the virus isn’t the only part of the pandemic that remains controversial. U.S. federal investigators are still on the hunt for what happened to roughly $400 billion in COVID relief doled out to American businesses, organizations, and citizens during the years 2020 and 2021.
A new analysis by the Associated Press revealed that fraudsters allegedly stole more than $280 billion in COVID-19 relief funding. According to the analysis, an additional $123 billion was either wasted or misspent by the U.S. government. Federal spending skyrocketed due to the pandemic, and taxpayers shelled out $4.2 trillion and counting in COVID relief. Now, more than 2,000 individuals have been charged with pandemic-related fraud and investigators are still searching for and filing new charges.

Financial giant JP Morgan has agreed to pay victims of the late Jeffrey Epstein a whopping $290 million in a historic class action lawsuit settlement. The bank was sued in 2022 by one woman on behalf of herself and other victims after it was discovered that the bank continued to do business with Epstein even after he was deemed a “high-risk client” client. Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died in federal prison in 2019.

 The legal action from Carlson’s former employer comes on the heels of Carlson’s team teasing a new “Tucker on Twitter” episode on the federal indictment of former President Trump. Carlson is still being paid by Fox News, and the network insists that Carlson’s new show violates his contract’s non-compete clause. 
Harmneet Dhillon, one of Carlson’s attorneys, said in a statement that Fox  “is now demanding that Tucker Carlson be silent until after the 2024 election.” Dhillon added, “Tucker will not be silenced by anyone.”
