If you think you understand what an ICE officer faces on the ground in Minneapolis, you’re wrong.
We spent the day with ICE officers in Minneapolis, where agents have been under siege for weeks. It was constant chaos.
Anti-ICE agitators in the Twin Cities have grown increasingly brazen since the death of Renee Good, a protester who was fatally shot by an ICE officer after apparently striking an agent with her car, causing him to bleed internally.
These protests have not distracted ICE from its mission, which has so far led to the arrest of roughly 10,000 illegal immigrants in Minnesota.
&#8220;It&#8217;s not deterring us, we&#8217;re still doing [arrests],&#8221; Samuel Olsen, the director of the agency&#8217;s St. Paul office, told The Daily Wire. &#8220;We&#8217;ve had to just adjust and ensure that we have enough people out.&#8221;
ICE&#8217;s targets that afternoon included illegal immigrants with drug convictions, assault charges, and convictions for driving while impaired. Some of the targets were released by local authorities who ignored ICE&#8217;s requests to hand them over to federal custody.
As we departed the ICE office, a &#8220;spotter&#8221; watched on a nearby street corner as he notified a &#8220;network of people that are throughout the city,&#8221; Olsen said. The first target was quickly &#8220;blown&#8221; after outsiders spotted ICE, making it difficult to catch the illegal immigrant in his element, a local restaurant in St. Paul. It was the second time officers tried to catch him after their cover was blown.
Still, Olsen said they wouldn&#8217;t give up on him.
&#8220;It looks like there&#8217;s people almost everywhere looking for our vehicles, and we were spotted in the lot,&#8221; Olsen said. &#8220;We&#8217;re going to probably move to the next target and then just kind of keep this one still.&#8221;
It was then on to the next arrest, but it wasn&#8217;t long after we headed that way that anti-ICE protesters began following close behind as they communicated with each other on radios.
As we neared the target&#8217;s apartment, dozens of protesters had amassed on nearly every corner. They gathered by the convoy of officers as they blew whistles and honked their horns to alert the neighborhood that ICE was there. Even a school bus driver passing by was blowing a whistle.
The officers decided they wouldn&#8217;t be stopped and walked in to knock on their target&#8217;s door, hoping to make a peaceful arrest.
All the while, anti-ICE activists screamed nonstop insults like &#8220;coward&#8221; and &#8220;no one wants you here&#8221; at the officers.
Still, the officers pushed through, but were unsuccessful in getting the target to answer the door. They couldn&#8217;t take any additional action because they didn&#8217;t have a judicial warrant.
As the officers tried to leave the area, several anti-ICE agitators blocked them in with their cars. The situation soon grew tense as one of the officers got out and shouted orders at the agitators to move their cars back.
&#8220;We&#8217;re blocked,&#8221; an officer said on the radio.
&#8220;This is bad back here guys,&#8221; another could be heard on the radio. &#8220;We&#8217;re surrounded back here.&#8221;
Amid the melee, one of the drivers, who was in a Tesla, hit one of the ICE officers&#8217; cars before zooming off erratically. He later continued to follow the officers before he rolled down his window and shouted, &#8220;I&#8217;m illegal, come and get me.&#8221;
Assaults on ICE officers have become all too normal, surging more than 1,000%, while death threats against them have increased more than 8,000%.
In Minneapolis, protesters are showing up at nearly every raid.
Before, &#8220;it was very rare &#8230; now, we&#8217;re making arrests of agitators daily,&#8221; Olsen said.
&#8220;When we have to arrest a U.S. citizen, it really takes us away from our other mission.&#8221;

Despite mainstream narratives, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is largely targeting illegals who have pending criminal charges or convictions in the United States &#8212; in addition to the crime of being in the U.S. illegally.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/12/17/ice-arrests-worst-worst-criminal-illegal-aliens-including-pedophiles-rapists-and">said</a> last month that the Department of Homeland Security law enforcement had arrested more than 600,000 illegals, 70% of whom had been charged or convicted of a crime in the United States.
Additionally, as stressed by McLaughlin, that statistic pertains to charges or convictions only in the U.S., not other nations. Meaning, the percentage of criminals being targeted is likely even higher.
“DHS is targeting the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens — including murderers, rapists, gang members, pedophiles, and terrorists,&#8221; McLaughlin <a href="https://www.ncregister.com/cna/border-czar-homan-says-catholic-church-is-wrong-on-immigration?">said</a> in a statement published in November. &#8220;[Seventy percent] of illegal aliens ICE arrested across the country have criminal convictions or pending criminal charges just in the U.S.&#8221;
&#8220;This statistic doesn’t account for those wanted for violent crimes in their home country or another country, INTERPOL notices, human rights abusers, gang members, terrorists, etc.,&#8221; the assistant secretary explained. &#8220;The list goes on.”
McLaughlin said that the U.S. is a &#8220;nation of laws,&#8221; and DHS is &#8220;committed to enforcing those laws, all of which are just.&#8221;
This past week, a law enforcement agent <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/viral-video-shows-ice-agent-telling-agitators-theyre-disrupting-arrest-child-sex-offender-minnesota?utm_source=chatgpt.com">went viral</a> for addressing protesters and members of the media while agents were on duty. In this particular case, the agent said authorities were picking up a child sex offender, underscoring the absurdity of the protesters.
&#8220;We&#8217;re here to arrest a child sex offender, and you guys are out here honking,&#8221; the agent says in the now-viral video. &#8220;That vehicle has been honking and impeding our investigation while we&#8217;re trying to arrest a child sex offender. That&#8217;s who you guys are protecting. Insane.&#8221;

Moreover, DHS reports a massive 1,300% jump in assaults against ICE agents.
Still, coordinated obstruction, protests, and riots against ICE agents have raged in liberal cities across the nation, most notably in Minneapolis. Liberal politicians and their counterparts in the legacy media have only emboldened such behavior, too, by dehumanizing ICE agents and ignoring or even supporting violence and obstruction efforts from anti-ICE activists.

If Minnesota churchgoers expected local prosecutors to protect them after anti-ICE disruptors halted a worship service on Sunday, they might want to think again: A top staffer for Hennepin County&#8217;s Soros-backed prosecutor was among the protesters.
Jamael Lundy works as intergovernmental affairs coordinator for Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty, is married to St. Paul City Council member Anika Bowie, and is running for a seat in the state legislature as a Democrat, according to his <a href="https://www.jlundyforsd65.com/aboutme">campaign website</a>.
The Department of Justice is pursuing <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/don-lemon-could-face-criminal-conspiracy-charges-over-involvement-in-minnesota-church-protest">federal charges</a> against protesters who disrupted a church service, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon has said. In his role in Moriarty&#8217;s office, Lundy is the very staffer who would interface with the federal government, including on an existing investigation into Moriarty boasting that she takes into account a suspect&#8217;s &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-a-soviet-influence-group-with-enron-ties-formed-a-shadow-government-in-prosecutors-offices">racial identity</a>&#8221; when making charging decisions.
Lundy was interviewed by Don Lemon as a group of protesters gathered, holding an upside-down American flag, to plan the takeover of the worship service — inadvertently undermining the point that Lemon was trying to make, which was that the protests were not backed by local officials.
&#8220;People are fighting back and organizing, in large part without support from officials, local officials. There are some people who want to be involved, local officials, but they&#8217;re doing this all on their own, this is all grassroots,&#8221; Lemon said. Pulling a member of the crowd out at random, he asked: &#8220;Without giving out what the operation is, why are you out here?&#8221;
The man turned out to be Lundy, who answered: &#8220;I&#8217;m here to support our community activists. I&#8217;m currently a candidate for Minnesota State Senate District 65. I feel like it&#8217;s important if you&#8217;re going to be representing people in office, that you&#8217;re out here with the people as well.&#8221;
Lemon seemed to ignore what he had said and re-emphasized the opposite point, saying, &#8220;The people are organizing on their own, even without representatives or officials, and hoping that everyone gets involved. This is grassroots.&#8221;
Lundy replied: &#8220;We all we got. I&#8217;m actually married to an elected official; I work closely with elected officials, but direct action from the community, certainly within the lines of the law, is so important to show that we have one voice.&#8221;
Protesters then stormed the church, leaving people fleeing, with some falling on ice as they raced for the exits. Protesters said they aimed to end the church service, and harangue parishioners, because they believed that a pastor at the church also worked for ICE.
Inside the church, a man who appears to be Lundy can be <a href="https://www.facebook.com/ByGeorgiaFort/videos/920639937194281/">seen</a> raising his fist and chanting the name of the pastor followed by &#8220;OUT, OUT,&#8221; as well as, &#8220;Who shut this down? We shut this down.&#8221;

One protester said, &#8220;This ain&#8217;t God&#8217;s house, it&#8217;s the house of the devil.&#8221; Lemon celebrated, saying, &#8220;You have to make people uncomfortable in these times. You have to be willing to go into places and make people uncomfortable, that is what this country is about.&#8221;
Lemon then interviewed a pastor, who said, &#8220;Our church had gathered for worship, which we do every Sunday, and we were interrupted by this group of protesters. We asked them to leave, and obviously they have not left. This is unacceptable, it&#8217;s shameful to interrupt a public gathering of Christians in worship.&#8221;
Lundy&#8217;s campaign website says that he previously worked for Minnesota House Rep. Carlos Mariani, the Democrat House Caucus Campaign, Congresswoman Betty McCullum, and the state teachers union.
Lundy also founded &#8220;Black Operations Public Relations LLC,&#8221; and runs a company called &#8220;Homes for Homies Property Management LLC,&#8221; &#8220;providing affordable housing for those struggling with credit and criminal backgrounds.&#8221;
The Homes for Homies website says: &#8220;He founded this company with the vision of improving housing access to all, but specifically to those with low income, criminal backgrounds, and people of color. Since it’s [sic] founding, home for homies [sic] has grown from a property management company with a goal of removing barriers to housing to a real estate development company centered around expanding housing affordability through expanding housing supply. As Home for Homies continues to expand, its founding values of making profit through making a difference remains [sic].&#8221;
On Facebook, he suggests that his &#8220;profit&#8221; comes from federal Section 8 funds and implies that he would rent homes to illegal immigrants, writing: &#8220;It&#8217;s become increasingly apparent how much folks are hurting from the economic impact of the lawless federal occupation of the Twin Cities and as a result, I&#8217;m seeing the longest vacancy in my tenure as a landlord. For that reason, I am intentionally reducing the price by $300 a month for this 3/4 bedroom listing on the East Side of Saint Paul, far below the normal price I set based off of section 8 guidance. So if your [sic] looking for a deeply affordable 3-4 bedroom unit, without credit or criminal background barriers, open to all residents of all statuses, please contact me via DM.&#8221;
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/minneapolis-under-investigation-over-possible-discriminatory-housing-program">investigating</a> Minneapolis for potentially discriminating by steering federal housing subsidies to &#8220;people of color, Indigenous people, and/or immigrant communities.&#8221;

If there&#8217;s one key rule to American politics, it’s this: Americans do not like ugly pictures on their television.
There’s a lot Americans will tolerate, so long as they don’t have to see it on their televisions. Bad things happen constantly, both around the world and here at home. In a country of 340 million people, that’s inevitable. But when bad things elevate to television on a consistent basis, people tend not to like it. And that&#8217;s what has happened with ICE activity in major cities.
Who gets blamed for those ugly pictures on the television becomes the question, but it is not typically good for the elevation of an issue when raised under a particular president. If there are tons of pictures of people crossing the border en masse on our television under Joe Biden, it is not going to redound to his benefit. If there are a lot of ugly pictures on television of ICE agents confronting illegal immigrants or people who are attempting to block and tackle on behalf of illegal immigrants, it turns out that Americans aren&#8217;t going to like that either.
Americans generally like the idea of Immigration and Customs Enforcement doing immigration enforcement, finding people who are here illegally and deporting them, particularly if those people are criminals.
But what they do not like are pictures on their television screens of mass mobilization in the streets. They don&#8217;t like images of people being shot in their cars, even under disputed circumstances like Renee Good.
Fifty-six percent of Americans thought ICE was being too tough in November; today, <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ice-trump-greenland-trump-poll/">that number is 61%</a>. Only about 15% say they&#8217;re not being tough enough. Among independents, only 35% say that the protesters have gone too far.

The Trump administration would like to believe that Americans believe that the people being prioritized for deportation are criminal illegal immigrants, because that is who is generally being prioritized: criminal illegal immigrants. But increasingly, Americans are not feeling that.
In November, 48% of Americans said that it was largely dangerous criminals who were being prioritized for deportation. Today, that number is 44%. Approval for the Trump administration&#8217;s program to deport immigrants illegally in the United States has dropped from 51% in December, down to 46% today.
It isn&#8217;t about the goals; it is about the pictures. Fifty-three percent of Americans apparently say that ICE operations in the United States should be decreased. Those are not great numbers for the president on an issue where, generally, he is quite popular.
But that doesn&#8217;t mean people trust Democrats.
A recent poll out from the Wall Street Journal looked at which party in Congress is best able to <a href="https://x.com/PollTracker2024/status/2012737797832966225">handle border security</a>. Since Democrats are not trusted on this issue, the Republican numbers look good.
Ugly pictures on the television do make a difference. This is likely why Democrats are sending protesters into the streets now.
But Democrats can overplay their hand. Right now, people are attributing the ugly images to the activities of ICE. But what happens when, for example, chaos breaks out at a church, which is what happened over the weekend, when a chaotic mob stormed through and shut down a Minnesota church over a pastor&#8217;s alleged ties to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The First Amendment does not mean that you get to walk on private property and start shouting in the middle of somebody&#8217;s business or in the middle of a church service.
The FACE Act prohibits desecrating houses of worship or interfering with Christian worshipers. The DHS says they will investigate. “All of the civil DOJ agitators aren&#8217;t just targeting our officers,” said the DHS in a post. “Now they&#8217;re targeting churches to then going from hotel to hotel, church to church, hunting for federal law enforcement who are risking their lives to protect Americans.”
This sort of activity by Democrats is likely to backfire.
The most recent ugly image people have in their heads is the image of Renee Good.
But that image can be replaced by a series of ugly images from Democrats, including, for example, storming churches.
There&#8217;s a fascinating <a href="https://www.wsj.com/opinion/martin-luther-kings-game-theory-c33a577e?gaa_at=eafs&amp;gaa_n=AWEtsqd7S08GEXiQtGaQ5zxl9lQ4CDKDNsoRDUaAA3VKE-QxR5JeQBma1kPr&amp;gaa_sig=fJoFFsQ3hXvmU_v4MjDcqQaWgVg0LpSM1bR8u86IiMpvsiJduWpcV1aqKX2WGjjtpe-Om7UQChhTMC66wbF4eA%3D%3D&amp;gaa_ts=696e74cb&amp;utm_source=chatgpt.com">piece</a> by Roland Fryer in The Wall Street Journal talking about the effect of protests. And one of the points Roland Fryer makes is that a nonviolent protest that does not disrupt things like church services is likely to work out better for you than being absolutely confrontational, violent, or chaotic.
He writes, “When I was young, I mistook restraint for weakness and anger for honesty. What I failed to see — and what we still fail to teach students—was that Martin Luther King wasn’t avoiding conflict. He was engineering it, on terms that made progress possible.”
In other words, don&#8217;t run into a church, start screaming at the top of your lungs, and hope that Americans are going to like that sort of thing — because they very likely will not.
Many things are less about the policy than about the implementation.
And ugly pictures, more often than not, make the difference.

Minnesota’s decline did not occur overnight. It was engineered, year after year, under the failed leadership of Governor Tim Walz and Minnesota Democrats. Ideology replaced oversight, political narratives replaced accountability, and “compassion” became an excuse for corruption.
In 2009, Forbes magazine named Minneapolis the safest city in America. Today, however, our state is a shell of itself, no longer known for clean government or competent leadership. It is now known for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bessent-blasts-coward-tim-walz-for-withholding-security-amid-fraud-probe-anti-ice-protests">fraud and abuse.</a>
Across the state, hundreds of childcare centers are under investigation for allegedly stealing <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/01/12/opinion/annual-600b-federal-fraud-is-killing-us-crack-down-now/">billions of taxpayer dollars</a> meant to help children. Federal auditors are demanding proof that children were even present at these make-shift daycares with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/minneapolis-quality-learing-center-is-officially-closed-state-records-show?author=Zach+Jewell&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Minneapolis+Quality+%E2%80%98Learing%E2%80%99+Center+Is+Officially+Closed%2C+State+Records+Show">misspelled names</a> and fake addresses. Minnesotans are rightly asking how such a massive scheme could operate openly for years without intervention. The answer is obvious and uncomfortable: Tim Walz and Minnesota Democrats allowed it to happen.
A recent press conference captured the rot. A daycare operator claimed that enrollment records, documents that would supposedly exonerate his organization, were conveniently stolen during a break-in. Worse yet, as he spoke about his business, he wore <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15426835/minnesota-somali-daycare-fraud-nokomis-daycare-glasses-interpreter.html">designer sunglasses</a>, valued at thousands of dollars.
This was not an isolated failure. Under Tim Walz, widespread fraud has become a recurring pattern. The <a href="https://www.kare11.com/article/news/local/feeding-our-future-investigation/full-coverage-feeding-our-future-fraud-scheme/89-c288f8ca-2b8d-405f-b027-e15035bf42bf">Feeding Our Future</a> scandal exposed the laundering of federal nutrition funds, even as warning signs were ignored and whistleblowers were pushed aside. Oversight collapsed. Agencies failed. The amount of fraud in Minnesota can be tied up neatly in one sentence: Tim Walz awarded Ayan Abukar the &#8220;Outstanding Refugee Award,” and four years later, Abukar is one of thousands of Minnesotans convicted of what may be the <a href="https://knsiradio.com/2025/01/27/one-sentence-one-plea-announced-in-250-million-feeding-our-future-fraud-scheme/">largest case of fraud</a> in American history.
This only exposed the central deception of Democratic governance: the idea that fraud-ridden bureaucracies are synonymous with compassion. They are not. Real compassion demands accountability, because every dollar stolen through fraud is a dollar taken from a child who needs help.
I know what government assistance is meant to do because I grew up relying on it. I was raised by my divorced mother on welfare in Harlem and later with my father in a trailer park in Oklahoma. Nothing about my childhood promised success, and the only way out was hard work. I delivered pizzas to put myself through college. I went on to serve as an Army officer stationed in South Korea on the DMZ. Five years later, I was the first in my family to begin a business career in the private sector. My life is a living case study that the promise of America is available to everyone, regardless of race or social station — if they embrace it.
That path was only possible in the United States. But I wouldn’t have been able to do that in today’s Minnesota.
Minnesota Democrats outright reject the very principles of hard work, merit, grit, and dedication. Under their leadership, fraudsters live lavishly while working families are lectured about “equity.” Agencies distribute billions of taxpayer dollars with no verification. Democrats moralize about social justice while presiding over the largest fraud scandal in American history. And unfortunately, fraud is only one symptom of a much deeper problem.
Sadly, the same Democratic ideology that tolerated corruption has also undermined public safety in our state. Under Governor Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey, Minneapolis, once one of America’s safest major cities, fell into <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/03/us/minneapolis-government-george-floyd.html">chaos</a>. In 2020, rioting and looting turned entire neighborhoods into war zones while Walz hesitated, excused, and justified lawlessness. We witnessed politicians excuse rioting and looting for four-days while families fled Minneapolis and trust evaporated.
Let’s be honest – it’s not any better today. The Left’s open border policies that began under Joe Biden’s administration have further strained local resources and eroded confidence in the rule of law. We’re seeing violent rioters destroy businesses, fight law enforcement, and cause chaos in our streets. Meanwhile, they are encouraged and egged on by Democrat leaders. Meanwhile, crime is out-of-control and families are scared to have dinner or see a show in Minneapolis.
As a result, businesses have left the state in droves, and we have quickly become a desert for opportunity and economic growth. Taxes continue to skyrocket, and both families and small businesses leave for safe havens. They don’t have to move far. It’s not only Florida, Tennessee, or Texas; instead, they are finding refuge in the neighboring states of Wisconsin, Iowa, and the Dakotas. From an economic perspective, nearly every economic indicator in Minnesota has been in free fall for a decade.
If this state were a publicly traded company, its leadership would have been fired and its stock dumped years ago.
Now, Tim Walz is <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/01/05/us-news/gov-tim-walz-expected-to-drop-reelection-bid-amid-minnesota-somali-fraud-probe-report/">stepping aside</a>, and Minnesota Democrats want voters to believe the damage leaves with him. The sad truth is, Walz is not the exception; he is the product of a one-party system that normalized failure. This fraud did not occur in one day. It happened over years, in plain sight, while Minnesota’s legislators from both parties voted, agencies approved payments, and oversight mechanisms failed again and again.
Let me be clear — we can’t fix the problems in St. Paul by electing another legislator from St. Paul. We need someone like me, a political outsider and a successful businessman. You don’t have to look far to see how President Trump has revitalized our economy with his business background and shook up the status quo to Make America Great Again. That’s what I want to emulate in Minnesota.
If we want to dismantle the largest fraud case in American history and restore trust in our state’s government, Minnesota needs leadership fundamentally different from what Democrats have to offer. We need someone willing to audit aggressively, prosecute decisively, and dismantle corrupt systems without fear of political backlash. We need a leader who understands that compassion without accountability is not kindness, it is betrayal. Minnesota does not need another lecture from progressives. It needs a reckoning.
This November, we have a once-in-a-generation moment to elect a leader that rejects the notion of socialism – doubles down on free market capitalism and our country’s Judeo-Christian founding principles. The future of Minnesota looks bright if we choose wisely.

A professional protester known for harassing worshippers at Secretary of War Pete Hegseth’s church in Washington, D.C., has emerged as a key figure in the disruption of Sunday’s service at Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.
William Kelly, a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DSWQf_PDVsE/?hl=en">self-described</a> combat veteran, was <a href="https://x.com/Rightanglenews/status/2013003075389124755?s=20">captured on video</a> storming into the sanctuary with a mob of other activists associated with Black Lives Matter and the Racial Justice Network. The demonstrators <a href="https://x.com/DennyBurk/status/2013060811669885235?s=20">chanted</a> “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” and screamed at congregants, labeling them &#8220;fake Christians&#8221; because one of the church’s pastors also serves as an ICE field director. Jonathan Parnell, lead pastor of the Southern Baptist church, called the protestors “shameful” and eventually chose to end the service after some of the children started crying. 
Kevin Ezell, head of the Southern Baptists’ mission board, said <a href="https://x.com/kevezell/status/2013000560388067721?s=20">on X</a> that he had spoken to Cities Church staff members who reported that “the kids in the worship service were terrified.” In a later post he added, “These intimidating tactics are not only illegal but cowardly. No cause justifies traumatizing families as they worship and desecrate a sacred space.”
Many on social media, including Deputy Undersecretary of War Justin Overbaugh, immediately <a href="https://x.com/JustinOverbaugh/status/2013011311584522411?s=20">identified</a> Kelly as the same man regularly posted outside Hegseth’s church in Washington. Joe Rigney, a founding pastor of Cities Church in St. Paul who also helped plant Christ Church in D.C., said Kelly and his fellow protestors have regularly disrupted their D.C. worship services for the past six months.
“They&#8217;ll play music or yell and scream and use bullhorns and loud sound amplification to try to prevent us from singing psalms and hearing the Word preached,” he told The Daily Wire. One member was transported to the hospital after a protester screaming into a bullhorn shattered his eardrum. Rigney said Kelly&#8217;s tactics have also included screaming obscenities at minors as families are entering the sanctuary, forcing a need for police escorts. &#8220;They&#8217;ve sought to disrupt Christian worship gatherings now in multiple places.&#8221; 
Kelly and his fellow activists are allegedly protesting an ICE agent fatally shooting Renee Good during a raid in Minneapolis earlier this month. But Rigney, who pastored Cities Church and lived in Minneapolis for seven years before he joined Christ Church, notes that he has no connection to Kelly’s ostensible reasons for harassing his new congregation, which Kelly has targeted for being “Christian nationalist.” Rigney believes the cause isn’t important to Kelly or his compatriots, who he accuses of being part of a network of paid activists who wait for an opportune opening to wreak havoc.
“I think Minneapolis, because of the George Floyd riots, the Black Lives Matter organizations were already sort of there but had just kind of been latent and inactive,” Rigney said. “And now there&#8217;s a new thing that has kind of triggered them … So I think that the same groups that were agitating about that then have found a kind of a new cause of the moment to allow them to protest.”
Rigney says he hopes the Trump administration will prosecute everyone involved in disrupting these church services to “send a message that that&#8217;s unacceptable.” And the Department of Justice has already announced that it is investigating the protest for violations of federal civil rights laws and the FACE Act, which protects religious worshippers from intimidation or obstruction based on ideological differences. Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon called the protest “UnAmerican and outrageous.”
Local Minneapolis law enforcement does not look likely to act. The police department monitored the service but made no immediate arrests as demonstrators left the building after the service had been stopped. Police officials said they were working to balance respect for both free speech and the right of congregations to worship without disruption.
Asked how he responds to charges from Kelly and the other protestors that it is not Christian to support ICE’s work, Rigney, who published a<a href="https://a.co/d/hJFPLGd"> 2025 book</a> on the misuse of empathy, said he doubts they have much understanding of Christianity.
“I think that kind of rhetoric is an attempt to steer,” he said. “Particularly coming from people who likely aren&#8217;t Christians or at least aren&#8217;t Bible-believing Christians … It is an attempt to steer and sabotage Christians so that they won&#8217;t resist the lawlessness that the left is seeking to impose.”
Rigney believes the Christian response to such attacks is greater boldness. “In the book of Acts, you saw precisely this kind of lawlessness,” he said. “You had mobs, you had shouting false accusations. You had government officials encouraging it in the way that the Democrats are doing right now. And in that day, Christians gathered together, and they prayed for boldness.&#8221;
“That&#8217;s what Christians ought to meet this with.”

President Donald Trump accused Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) of having knowledge of billions of dollars in alleged fraud, saying Sunday night that she should be jailed or face &#8220;worse punishment.&#8221;
“There is 19 Billion Dollars in Minnesota Somalia Fraud. Fake ‘Congresswoman’ Illhan [sic] Omar, a constant complainer who hates the USA, knows everything there is to know. She should be in jail, or even a worse punishment, sent back to Somalia, considered one of the absolutely worst countries in the World,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “She could help to MAKE SOMALIA GREAT AGAIN!”
Trump has long feuded with Omar and repeatedly called for her to return to her homeland of Somalia. During his first term, controversy erupted after a &#8220;send her back&#8221; chant broke out at a rally while he was discussing her.  
Earlier on Sunday, Trump claimed Omar and Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz supported the protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minnesota because doing so helped distract attention from political pressure on them. 
“ICE is removing some of the most violent criminals in the World from our Country, and bring them back home, where they belong,” Trump said. “The thugs that are protesting include many highly paid professional agitators and anarchists. Is this really what Minnesota wants? The crooked Governor and ‘Congresswoman’ Omar, who married her brother, don’t mind because it keeps the focus of attention off the 18 Billion Dollar, Plus, FRAUD, that has taken place in the State! Don’t worry, we’re on it!”
Minneapolis has been the focus of anti-ICE protests since an agent shot and killed a 37-year-old woman who was driving her vehicle toward him. Some of the demonstrations have turned violent, with federal officers being assaulted and federal vehicles targeted with vandalism. 
Trump has considered invoking the Insurrection Act and sending in troops if ICE agents continue to be impeded in Minnesota. The protests come at the same time federal officials have initiated numerous investigations into alleged welfare fraud schemes that have taken billions of dollars in federal funding.

As left-wing protests in Minneapolis <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jacob-frey-says-minneapolis-riots-about-love-but-videos-tell-a-more-violent-story">appear</a> to be growing more violent, the Justice Department is investigating Minnesota Democrats for obstructing federal law enforcement. Last week, Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz urged President Donald Trump to “turn down the temperature.” But over the weekend, violent left-wing agitators in his state continued demonstrations. Large groups of protesters clashed with law enforcement outside of federal buildings and other ICE facilities, and a number of conservative demonstrators were brutally attacked in broad daylight. In one instance, a right-wing activist was physically dragged from the steps of a government building by a large mob of leftist agitators. They proceeded to beat him with fists, rocks, and flag poles, as some in the crowd yelled “kill him” — all with police nowhere to be seen. 
On Sunday, dozens of protesters stormed the Cities Church in St. Paul as part of a “clandestine operation” to “disrupt business as usual,” activist leader Nekima Levy-Armstrong told ex-CNN host Don Lemon, who embedded with the protest group.
Clips from Lemon’s coverage of the protest spread on social media and drew the attention of Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, who heads the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division.
“The [Civil Rights Division] is investigating the potential violations of the federal FACE Act by these people desecrating a house of worship and interfering with Christian worshippers,” Dhillon said in a <a href="https://x.com/aagdhillon/status/2013003168179724426" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a> on X.
Governor Walz and Mayor Frey are under federal investigation amid their opposition to the Trump administration’s massive immigration enforcement operation in the state. CBS News first <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/justice-department-investigating-tim-walz-jacob-frey-minnesota/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> the details of the investigation, which focuses on allegations that Walz and Frey have interfered with federal immigration operations.
<h2 style="text-align: center;">Trump’s Greenland Gamble Revives Trade War With Europe</h2>
Some European leaders want to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/europe-ramps-up-trade-fight-after-trump-threatens-tariffs-over-greenland">escalate</a> a trade war with the United States after President Trump threatened to impose tariffs of up to 25% on eight countries. Trump has said he will back off the tariffs only when Denmark agrees to sell Greenland. Leaders in the European Union want to <a href="https://www.politico.eu/article/eu-us-trade-deal-on-hold-after-new-trump-tariffs/">freeze</a> the trade agreement the bloc struck with the United States last year. Under that agreement, the EU would lift all levies on American goods, and in exchange, the United States would drop its tariffs on EU imports to 15%. The European Parliament was supposed to move forward on it next week, but instead the bloc is now expected to vote on Wednesday to put the deal on hold. It may also take additional steps to increase economic pressure on the United States. Some officials are concerned that the brewing trade war could mean trouble for the NATO military alliance, as well.
<h2 style="text-align: center;">State Department To Permanently End Aid To Somalia</h2>
The State Department will permanently <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/state-department-to-permanently-end-aid-to-somalia-after-warehouse-of-food-disappears">end</a> foreign aid to Somalia after a warehouse full of U.S.-funded food disappeared. The Daily Wire obtained diplomatic cables from the United States embassy in Mogadishu showing corruption in Somalia that mirrors the fraud perpetrated by refugees in Minnesota. The U.S. embassy recommended that the State Department stop foreign aid after January 3, “at the direction of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and the Federal Government of Somalia, authorities at Mogadishu Port demolished the World Food Programme Emergency Response Warehouse with no prior notification or coordination with international donor countries, including the United States.” Seventy-six metric tons of food went missing, even as another 1,650 tons of commodities were on their way.

The Pentagon has ordered about 1,500 active-duty soldiers in Alaska to prepare for a possible deployment to Minnesota, the site of large protests against the government&#8217;s deportation drive, two U.S. officials told Reuters on Sunday.
The army placed the units on prepare-to-deploy orders in case violence in the midwestern state escalates, the officials said, though it is not clear whether any of them will be sent.
President Donald Trump threatened on Thursday to use the Insurrection Act to deploy military forces if officials in the state do not stop protesters from targeting immigration officials after a surge in Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
But if the troops are deployed, it is unclear whether the Trump administration would invoke the Insurrection Act. Even without invoking the act, a president can deploy active-duty forces for certain domestic purposes such as protecting federal property, which Trump cited as a justification for sending Marines to Los Angeles last year.
In addition to the active-duty forces, the Pentagon could also attempt to deploy newly created National Guard rapid-response forces for civil disturbances.
The Pentagon and the White House did not immediately respond to requests from Reuters for comment on the order, which was first reported by ABC News.
&#8220;If the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don’t obey the law and stop the professional agitators and insurrectionists from attacking the Patriots of I.C.E., who are only trying to do their job, I will institute the INSURRECTION ACT,&#8221; Trump posted on his Truth Social platform.
The soldiers subject to deployment specialize in cold-weather operations and are assigned to two U.S. Army infantry battalions under the 11th Airborne Division, which is based in Alaska, the officials said.
Confrontations between residents and federal officers have become increasingly tense in Minneapolis, Minnesota&#8217;s most-populous city, after an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Good.
Trump, a Republican, has sent nearly 3,000 federal agents from ICE and Border Patrol to Minneapolis and neighboring St. Paul since early last week, as part of a wave of interventions, mostly to cities run by Democratic politicians.
He has said troop deployments in Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Memphis and Portland, Oregon, are necessary to fight crime and protect federal property and personnel from protesters. But this month he said he was removing the National Guard from Chicago, Los Angeles and Portland, which have faced legal setbacks and challenges.
Local leaders have accused the president of federal overreach and of exaggerating isolated episodes of violence to justify sending in troops.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, against whom the Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation, has mobilized the state&#8217;s National Guard to support local law enforcement and emergency management agencies, the state Department of Public Safety posted on X on Saturday.
Trump has repeatedly invoked a scandal around the theft of federal funds intended for social-welfare programs in Minnesota as a rationale for sending in immigration agents. The president and administration officials have singled out the state&#8217;s community of Somali immigrants.
The Insurrection Act is a federal law that gives the president the power to deploy the military or federalize National Guard troops inside the U.S. to quell domestic uprisings.

A federal judge appointed by former President Joe Biden is tying the hands of ICE agents in Minneapolis as rioting continues to escalate in the liberal city.
Agents are now barred from detaining or using tear gas or other measures against peaceful protesters who aren&#8217;t obstructing operations, according to an <a href="https://www.aclu-mn.org/app/uploads/2025/12/ECF-85-Order-1.16.25.pdf.pdf">order</a> issued by U.S. District Judge Kate Menendez on Friday night.
Complicating the already heated operations and riots in the Minneapolis area, Menendez says officers would have to show probable cause or reasonable suspicion that someone has committed a crime or is obstructing law enforcement operations to act. Additionally, the judge specifically noted that following officers &#8220;at an appropriate distance&#8221; is not reason for an officer to take any action.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin reacted to the order by stressing that &#8220;rioting&#8221; is not protected by the First Amendment and said DHS will continue to uphold the rule of law and protect their officers and the public.
&#8220;We remind the public that rioting is dangerous—obstructing law enforcement is a federal crime and assaulting law enforcement is a felony,&#8221; McLaughlin said in a <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/federal-judge-restricts-ice-agents-amid-ongoing-minneapolis-area-protests-over-fatal-shooting">statement</a>. &#8220;Rioters and terrorists have assaulted law enforcement, launched fireworks at them, slashed the tires of their vehicles, and vandalized federal property. Others have chosen to ignore commands and have attempted to impede law enforcement operations and used their vehicles as weapons against our officers.&#8221;
&#8220;Despite these grave threats and dangerous situations, our law enforcement has followed their training and used the minimum amount of force necessary to protect themselves, the public, and federal property,&#8221; she added.

Earlier this month, an ICE agent fatally shot a protester named Renee Good after she hit him with her vehicle during operations. DHS says the officer suffered internal bleeding from the incident and acted in self-defense, likely saving other agents, too.
