President Donald Trump reiterated his support on Friday afternoon for Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) in his race to win re-election, as one of Graham&#8217;s main primary opponents, Paul Dans, appears to have exited the race.
<a href="https://www.fitsnews.com/2026/04/10/exclusive-paul-dans-withdraws-from-u-s-senate-race/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FITSNews</a> wrote on Friday that Dans was dropping out of the race, and Trump appeared to confirm the report. The Daily Wire reached out to the Dans campaign, but did not immediately hear back.
“Paul Dans has just dropped out of the South Carolina Senatorial Race against the Great Lindsey Graham,” <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116382196783520781" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Trump</a> wrote.
“It all started to fall apart for Paul when a very Low IQ individual named Tucker Carlson ENDORSED him — THE KISS OF DEATH! Lindsey has a BIG lead, and is on his way to a spectacular VICTORY because he just, GETS THINGS DONE!” the president added.
In another post moments prior, Trump slammed Graham’s other primary opponent, Mark Lynch, in a Truth Social post, as the Republican senator has fended off critics who have said that he has been too hawkish on military action in the Middle East, particularly in Iran.
“Senator Lindsey Graham is doing a fantastic job. He is running against a LUNATIC named Mark Lynch, who supports perhaps the Worst Congressman in the History of our Country, Thomas Massie, of the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky,” Trump said.
“I don’t have to go into great detail, but needless to say, Mark Lynch would be a DISASTER for the Republican Party, and Lindsey Graham just, GETS THE JOB DONE. VOTE FOR LINDSEY ALL THE WAY,” the <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116382183704204825" target="_blank" rel="noopener">president</a> added.
Lynch has not held back in his criticism of Graham on matters of foreign policy.
“Lindsey Graham represents a grave National Security threat to Americans, American soldiers, and to every man, woman, and child in the Middle East &#8212; whether Iranian or Israeli,” Lynch <a href="https://x.com/MarkLynchSC/status/2042678395482395085?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> Friday. “On June 9, we Dump Lindsey!”
Trump&#8217;s posts backing Graham were not a surprise, given the president and the senator have been close allies for some time.
However, the posts underscore how the president is firing back against those who have been critical of Operation Epic Fury in Iran, including with a post made on Thursday saying that a handful of podcasters slamming the war are “Low IQ.”
Graham chairs the Senate Budget Committee, which means he will play a critical role in securing congressional funding for the president’s military goals. Last week, the senator praised the Trump administration’s budget request for fiscal year 2027.
“President Trump’s budget is truly historic when it comes to defense spending. It is the most robust increase in defense spending in many years, and it is more than justified by the threats we face throughout the world,” Graham said in a <a href="https://www.lgraham.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/2026/4/chairman-graham-statement-on-president-trump-s-fy27-budget-request" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>. “When it comes to our national security, President Trump and his team are second to none.”
The Daily Wire reached out to the Lynch campaign for comment.

Sen. Graham — whom I like personally — has never seen a Middle Eastern country he didn’t want to bomb. He&#8217;s been beating the drum for war for a very, very long time.
That&#8217;s why it gives a lot of credibility to his criticism in his recent tweets on X:

For background, Graham&#8217;s statement comes after Axios published <a href="https://www.axios.com/2026/03/08/us-dismayed-israel-iran-fuel-strikes">this article</a>, which says:
<blockquote>Israel&#8217;s strikes on 30 Iranian fuel depots Saturday went far beyond what the U.S. expected when Israel notified it in advance, sparking the first significant disagreement between the allies since the war began eight days ago, according to a U.S. official, Israeli official and a source with knowledge.</blockquote>
Now, whenever the United States and Israel — or any two allies — are publicly disagreeing, there’s always the possibility that it’s partly a show. Sometimes governments signal disagreement publicly while coordinating privately. But this situation suggests otherwise. There may be a legitimate difference of opinion. Maybe a little tail wagging the dog here?
On its own, Lindsey Graham publicly rebuking Israel is notable. He’s a major, longtime supporter of Israel and a major supporter of regime change in Iran. He is not exactly shy about using the military. And he’s saying: guys, what are we doing here?
The reporting says the United States is worried this could backfire strategically. And those concerns highlight the stakes of the war.
My reaction from the beginning — when the possibility of war with Iran started circulating — has been that there are two very firm camps making overly simplistic arguments.
On one hand you have the pacifists who say war is never the answer, that there is never any place for war. That’s not a serious moral or political position.
On the other hand you have hardcore ideological neocon types — who say the United States has a moral duty to spread liberal democracy everywhere on earth. That’s also a very ideological view.

If you get rid of those two extremes, then there are the people in the middle where reasonable minds can disagree over the wisdom of the Iran campaign. That&#8217;s certainly where President Trump is. That&#8217;s certainly where I am and where I think most people are.
In the lead-up to the Iran war, when it became clear it was going to happen, I was asking people who were in the know — grand strategy types, diplomats — what do you think about this? Should we go to war in Iran? Should we not go to war in Iran?
And the most persuasive answer I heard was: Well, if we can do it quickly and successfully, then it would be good to change out the regime. But if we can&#8217;t, we shouldn&#8217;t.
So, I&#8217;ve said from the beginning, if I were on the National Security Council (NSC) — not that anyone invited me — but if I had been on the NSC, I would have made all the arguments I could against the Iran strike. Not based on any particular moral argument. I think there&#8217;s legal justification to go into Iran. Again, the government had more knowledge than I did when they launched the strike, but if they had asked me, based only on publicly available knowledge I would have said: Look, I don&#8217;t know that the threat from Iran is as grave as people are suggesting or as imminent. Also, I&#8217;m not confident that we can efficiently and effectively swap out the regime in Iran to get a more Western-friendly regime.
So because of those practical, prudential, pragmatic matters, I don&#8217;t know that it&#8217;s the right idea. But if you could convince me otherwise on those two points, then I would say, yes, it&#8217;s probably a good idea.
And these are the stakes here.
President Trump is taking a much more realistic view. This comes right out of his National Security Strategy that was released last November. President Trump clearly believes that he&#8217;s the guy to do it — that he can do it. He has great confidence in himself and in his foreign policy and in the people he&#8217;s empowered to efficiently get rid of the Iranian regime and build up a more pro-Western regime.
Similar to what he did in Venezuela. An operation free of global fallout, that will rebuff our enemies like China and Russia, and that will make America great again — that will help us on the world stage and give us a chance, after decades of decline in the American empire, to be great again.
He thinks he&#8217;s the guy who can do it. And maybe he is. He&#8217;s got a pretty good record so far.
The distinction between him and, say, George W. Bush when it comes to foreign policy would be: Bush wasn&#8217;t that good at it, and I am good at it.
But in order for that to work, things need to go perfectly. And that&#8217;s a really, really tall order in the best circumstances.
And in order for that to work, we need to not turn the Iranian people against us. We need to keep public sentiment against the Islamic regime and at least tolerating us, if not openly supportive of the United States, grateful for our mission.
And we need to make sure the country doesn&#8217;t become completely destabilized. Which means sometimes we need to rein in Israel — just like we would have to rein in any other ally if they got a little out of control.
That&#8217;s the point Lindsey Graham is making. That&#8217;s the point it seems the White House is making with the leak to Axios.
Those are the stakes.
As I’ve had to explain to friends who are deeply skeptical of the war in Iran — the quasi-isolationists — if this works, it will be the greatest foreign policy achievement of any president since the end of the Cold War. Take the Cold War off the table, and it may rank among the most significant foreign policy victories of the last eighty years.
But if this goes south, Trump’s legacy will look a lot like George W. Bush’s.
Those are the stakes.
Stakes so high that even Lindsey Graham is publicly signaling caution — urging Israel to rein it in. That alone tells you everything about how high they are.

Sen. Lindsey Graham didn’t mince words Saturday morning as U.S. and Israeli forces carried out a sweeping joint operation targeting Iranian military infrastructure.
“There’s a new dawn coming in the Mideast,” Graham said, casting the strikes as more than retaliation — but a historic turning point.
The South Carolina Republican called the operation one of “the most significant things that’s happened in my lifetime,” adding that it may be “the most significant thing that’s happened in the Mideast in a thousand years.”
Graham made the remarks during an appearance on &#8220;Fox &amp; Friends&#8221; Saturday morning. He argued that dismantling Iran’s military power could unlock a broader regional reset, building on the Abraham Accords brokered during President Donald Trump’s first term.
“There’s an opportunity for the region to build on the Abraham Accords,” Graham said, suggesting that weakening Tehran’s grip could accelerate normalization between Israel and additional Arab nations.
For years, Graham has labeled Iran the central destabilizing force in the region, pointing to its financing and arming of proxy groups like Hezbollah and Hamas as the engine behind much of the Middle East’s bloodshed.

On Saturday, he went further — elevating Trump’s approach above past GOP foreign policy icons.
“The gold standard for Republican foreign policy is no longer Ronald Reagan,” Graham said. “It is Donald J. Trump.”
His comments come after Trump described the joint U.S.-Israel strikes as a “major combat operation” designed to degrade the Iranian regime’s military capabilities and stop missile threats before they reach Israeli territory.
Supporters say directly targeting Iran’s infrastructure — not just its proxies — marks a decisive shift. Critics warn it risks escalation.
Graham made clear where he stands.
If Tehran’s military network is crippled and its regional reach blunted, he argued, the Middle East could be entering a moment unlike any seen in modern history.

An expected Senate vote on a package to avert a government shutdown was scrapped on Thursday night after Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) objected to the removal of a provision allowing senators to sue if their phone records were snooped on. 
Graham’s opposition came after the White House and Senate Democrats <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/white-house-and-senate-dems-strike-deal-ahead-of-government-shutdown?topStoryPosition=undefined&amp;author=Tim+Pearce&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;row=1&amp;rowHeadline=Top+Stories&amp;rowType=Top+Stories&amp;title=White+House+And+Senate+Dems+Strike+Deal+Ahead+Of+Government+Shutdown">reached a deal</a> to separate out funding for the Department of Homeland Security from five appropriation bills previously approved by the House. As senators prepared to vote, Graham met with Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) to discuss the agreement. 
“We’re not voting tonight,” Graham said Thursday night after leaving Thune’s office, The Hill <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5714316-senate-government-funding-shutdown/">reported</a>. 
Part of Graham’s objection stemmed from the House vote to repeal a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/shutdown-deal-packs-a-surprise-as-republicans-strike-back-after-phone-snooping">provision tucked</a> into the continuing resolution passed in November that allowed senators to sue for damages if the government accessed their records without their knowledge. That provision was added after it was revealed that the FBI had analyzed the metadata of phone calls from several congressional Republicans as part of the investigation into President Donald Trump following the January 6 attack. 
“What senator wouldn’t want notification that they’re looking at your phone?” Graham said. 
“I fixed the problem that people had. I’m not going to ignore what happened. If you were abused, you think you were abused, your phone records were illegally seized — you should have your day in court,” he added. “Every senator should want to make sure this never happens again.”
After the passage of the continuing resolution in November, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) promised a vote on repealing the provision, saying that it should apply to all Americans, not just senators. The House followed through earlier this month, repealing the measure as part of the appropriations package it passed. 
Graham also said he opposed separating out funding for DHS.
“The cops need us right now,” he said. “They’re being demonized. They’re being spat upon. They can’t sleep at night.“
Thune said Thursday that he was hopeful that the Senate would be able to vote on the White House-backed deal. The government will shut down at midnight on Friday without any further funding. 
“Hopefully by sometime tomorrow we’ll be in a better spot,” Thune <a href="https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2026/01/30/congress/shutdown-deal-lindsey-graham-dhs-00756840">said</a> on Thursday. “Tomorrow’s another day, and hopefully people will be in a spirit to try and get this done.”
Trump urged lawmakers on Thursday to support the deal with Democrats to pass the appropriations bill and a two-week extension of Homeland Security funds to allow time for negotiations.
“Republicans and Democrats in Congress have come together to get the vast majority of the Government funded until September, while at the same time providing an extension to the Department of Homeland Security (including the very important Coast Guard, which we are expanding and rebuilding like never before),” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Hopefully, both Republicans and Democrats will give a very much needed Bipartisan ‘YES’ Vote.”

This legislative push comes as the Kurds face a renewed existential threat from a Turkish-aligned Syrian government led by Ahmed al-Sharaa.
The Kurdish commitment to regional stability peaked between 2014 and 2019. Following the fall of Mosul in 2014 and the horrific massacre of thousands of Yazidis in Sinjar, Kurdish forces became the &#8220;boots on the ground&#8221; for the U.S.-led Global Coalition against ISIS. The YPG/YPJ in Syria and the Peshmerga in Iraq held a front line stretching roughly 1,000 kilometers. Key victories, such as the grueling siege of Kobane and the 2017 liberation of the ISIS capital, Raqqa, culminated in the 2019 defeat of the territorial caliphate in Baghouz. Despite these sacrifices, the Kurds now face a &#8220;nightmare reminiscent of 2014,&#8221; with ISIS elements re-emerging amid the chaos created by the new Syrian offensive.
The current crisis is the latest chapter in a long history of systemic persecution across the Middle East.
Following the 1979 Revolution, Kurdish hopes for autonomy were crushed when Ayatollah Khomeini declared a &#8220;holy war,&#8221; leading to thousands of executions. Even today, the Iranian regime utilizes heavy weaponry to suppress Kurdish-led movements, such as the 2022 &#8220;Woman, Life, Freedom&#8221; protests.
For more than a century, Turkey has pursued aggressive assimilation policies toward its Kurdish population, at times banning the Kurdish language and labeling Kurds &#8220;Mountain Turks.&#8221; Turkey views Syrian Kurdish forces as terrorists, leading to multiple military incursions and the current support of the Sharaa government’s offensive.
Recent reports describe horrific war crimes committed by Islamist militias, including the summary execution and beheading of Kurdish fighters. In Raqqa, snipers have reportedly targeted civilians, while thousands of ISIS detainees have escaped from facilities like Shaddadi and Al-Hol, creating a &#8220;security vacuum.&#8221;
The Kurds currently find themselves betrayed by a shifting geopolitical map. After Washington previously signaled that the Kurdish role had &#8220;expired,&#8221; Sen. Graham’s proposed sanctions aim to provide the &#8220;teeth&#8221; necessary to prevent a total ethnic cleansing. Without international intervention, the Kurds remain trapped between a hostile Syrian regime, a Turkish military offensive, and a lingering &#8220;ghost caliphate&#8221; of ISIS fighters seeking a bloody resurgence.

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham appeared on CBS’ &#8220;Face The Nation&#8221; on Sunday and said he had spoken to President Trump about potential land strikes in South America.
“I think that’s a real possibility,” <a href="https://x.com/FaceTheNation/status/1982479665525613037">said</a> Graham. “I think President Trump has made a decision that Maduro, the leader of Venezuela, is an indicted drug trafficker, that it’s time for him to go, that Venezuela and Colombia have been safe havens for narco-terrorists for too long.”
Venezuelan Dictator Nicolas Maduro said last week that there are 5,000 Russian-made anti-aircraft missiles stationed around the country to defend the airspace. He also said that “millions of men and women with rifles would march across the country” if the United States were to attack on Venezuelan soil.
Colombia: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced sanctions on Colombian President Gustavo Petro and his family on Friday. Bessent said in a statement that Petro “has allowed drug cartels to flourish and refused to stop this activity.”
Colombian officials have pushed back, pointing to continued interdiction of cocaine &#8212; but the country’s coca fields have grown continuously since Petro took power in 2022. Trump’s moves against Colombia have received support from Republicans representing sizable communities of Colombian Americans.
“Colombia is once again the number one producer of coke in the world. Colombians don&#8217;t deserve that,” <a href="https://x.com/RepMariaSalazar/status/1982503947744243931">said</a> Florida Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar. “President Trump has a responsibility to stop drugs coming into this country.”

Morning Wire spoke with economist E.J. Antoni of the Heritage Foundation. (The following transcript has been lightly edited for clarity.)
Morning Wire: First, big picture – we&#8217;re nine months into Trump&#8217;s second term. How is the economy doing?
Antoni: I&#8217;d say the best way to describe it is that it&#8217;s in the midst of a transition, right? For basically the last two years of the Biden administration, you had a labor market that was being propped up in a lot of ways by government hiring. That&#8217;s gone away. In fact, it&#8217;s been replaced with government firings. And the result of that is a drag on the overall jobs numbers, right? In the same way, when you look at something like the way we measure the economy through gross domestic product or GDP, you had government purchases which were accounting for a very large percentage of that. That&#8217;s all gone away. In fact, it&#8217;s been replaced by a reduction in those government purchases, which is a drag on the headline number. What I&#8217;m trying to get at here is, as the government re-privatizes, as the Treasury Secretary says, you will see what looks like sluggish growth – which I think we&#8217;re in right now – but in reality is actually a returning to health. It&#8217;s almost like the chemotherapy that makes you feel really lousy, but gets rid of your cancer.
Morning Wire: The inflation numbers were a little bit cooler than projected. How do you feel about the state of inflation right now?
Antoni: Pretty good, especially since the number one driver of inflation in that CPI report for the month of September was gasoline prices going up so much, except that increase has completely reversed in the first three weeks of October. Now, prices are actually slightly lower than they were in most markets. We should expect the next CPI report – if we can even get it, it&#8217;s unclear because the government shut down – but if we could get it, we would expect even cooler CPI numbers.
Morning Wire: Treasury data show the tariff collection has really surged in recent months. What is the net effect of Trump&#8217;s tariff plan thus far in the economy? Are they working as advertised?
Antoni: Well, I guess it depends on how we want to say as advertised, right? … But here are the facts. They&#8217;re bringing in way more revenue than anticipated to the Treasury. We can certainly have a debate over who is paying for those tariffs. But, the fact is they&#8217;re bringing in billions of dollars in revenue, in fact, hundreds of billions of dollars when you annualize it. That&#8217;s one of the reasons why September had the biggest surplus ever for the month of September in terms of the Treasury monthly statement. It was because not only have we seen a reduction in overall government spending, but an increase in revenues, overall revenues of course, because the economy&#8217;s growing, but also specifically from customs duties, which are from the increase in tariffs.
Morning Wire: Is the reshoring effect — like Stellantis moving some production to the U.S. — is that a real trend or just a few isolated incidents?
Antoni: It’s certainly a real trend, but it is being blunted to a certain extent right now. You are seeing help to the manufacturing sector, and that some of it is being re-shored. But you&#8217;re also seeing, at least in the short term, some pain inflicted on manufacturing because, again, some of the things being tariffed are actually inputs. You&#8217;re making it more expensive, let&#8217;s say, for a car manufacturer to buy steel from abroad for the time being. Now, once that steel gets re-shored back to the United States and you can buy it domestically, then it&#8217;s a moot point, right? But at least for the time being, you&#8217;re having competing effects there where one is helping, the other is hurting.
Morning Wire: Final question, we&#8217;re about to wrap up the year with a couple months left here. What do you project to happen big-picture with the economy over the next few months?
Antoni: I think we&#8217;re going to continue to see some of these very positive trends with economic growth where, although the public sector, the government is shrinking, we&#8217;re going to continue to see growth in the productive private sector. And in particular, one of the reasons why I&#8217;m so optimistic here is that the growth we have seen thus far this year, which I think will continue, has been driven by increases in earnings, not simply increases in debt. … Their money is going further because earnings growth is outpacing inflation. That&#8217;s a very positive development.

President Donald Trump may order land strikes on Venezuela and other parts of South America in pursuit of drug cartels without congressional authority, according to South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham.
Graham appeared on CBS’ “Face The Nation” on Sunday and defended Trump’s suggestion last week that land strikes may be the next step after the U.S. military blew up 10 drug boats and submarines in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean.
“I think that&#8217;s a real possibility,” said Graham on the potential for U.S. strikes on land in South America. “I think President Trump has made a decision that Maduro, the leader of Venezuela, is an indicted drug trafficker, that it&#8217;s time for him to go, that Venezuela and Colombia have been safe havens for narco-terrorists for too long.”
“I support that idea, but I think he has all the authority he needs,” Graham added after noting that Trump is expected to brief Congress on possible military operations in and around South America when he returns from a trip to Asia later this week.
The South Carolina senator cited operations ordered by former presidents George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan. The missions, which took place in Panama and Grenada, are precedents that should set the legal foundation for any land strikes against drug cartels ordered unilaterally by Trump.

Graham’s comments come days after the administration announced the U.S.S. Gerald Ford aircraft carrier group would move to the Caribbean. The Ford is the newest and most technologically advanced carrier in the U.S. fleet, signaling the seriousness with which the White House is approaching its fight against drug cartels and terror networks that are flooding the United States with dangerous and illicit drugs.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell announced the Ford’s latest assignment in a <a href="https://x.com/SeanParnellASW/status/1981759934539985132">post</a> on X.
The aircraft carrier group “will bolster U.S. capacity to detect, monitor, and disrupt illicit actors and activities that compromise the safety and prosperity of the United States homeland and our security in the Western Hemisphere,” said Parnell in a statement.

‘Finish the Job’: Graham Warns Against Any Gaza Peace Deal That Leaves Hamas Standing

President Donald Trump is prepared to take a much harsher approach toward Russia to bring the war in Ukraine to an end, according to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC).
Graham on Sunday said to “stay tuned” for presidential announcements on sanctions, asset seizures, and other levers that the Trump administration could pull to increase pressure on Russia to negotiate for an end to the war.
“The idea of America selling weapons to help Ukraine is very much in play,” Graham said in an interview on CBS’s “Face The Nation.”
“I don&#8217;t want to get ahead of the president, but stay tuned about seized assets,” he continued. “The Europeans want to limit the interest on the assets to go to Ukraine. Secretary Bessent wants to go further. Stay tuned about a plan to go after the seized assets more aggressively. Stay tuned for a plan where America will begin to sell to our European allies a tremendous amount of weapons that can benefit Ukraine.”
Trump in recent weeks has grown more disillusioned with Russian President Vladimir Putin. 
“We get a lot of bulls*** thrown at us by Putin, if you want to know the truth. He&#8217;s very nice all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless,” the president said at a cabinet meeting last week.
Graham and Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut introduced a bill that would authorize Trump to levy up to 500% tariffs on countries that purchase Russian uranium, oil, and gas. Graham said the bill would be a “literal sledgehammer” to Russia and its economic allies.
“The big offenders here are China, India, and Brazil. India buys oil from Russia cheap and resells it. That&#8217;s despicable,” said Graham. “The only way you&#8217;re going to end this war is to get people who prop up Putin; make them choose between the American economy and helping Putin.
“You can only have one negotiator, and that&#8217;s going to be President Trump with maximum flexibility to end this war. China, India, and Brazil, you&#8217;re about to get hurt big time if you keep helping Putin,” the South Carolina senator warned.

The president has not voiced public support for the bill. The president has said he is willing to sign it with a caveat: the bill be modified to give him more flexibility over the sanctions. President Donald Trump signaled over the weekend that he is seriously weighing tougher sanctions on Russia over its years-long war against Ukraine, a potential move backed by a bipartisan Senate supermajority eager to force Moscow’s hand, as peace negotiations falter.
In a Sunday exchange with reporters, Trump <a href="https://x.com/Acyn/status/1926772105401549062" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> he is “absolutely” considering new sanctions on Russia. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) defended President Donald Trump&#8217;s recent decision to suspend security clearances at several law firms that were involved in law fare against him over the last several years.
Graham made the remarks during a Sunday interview on CBS News&#8217; &#8220;Face The Nation&#8221; with Margaret Brennan when asked if he supported Trump&#8217;s actions.
&#8220;Yes, I think all of these things — I think [special counsel] Jack Smith was politically motivated,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I think the Russian hoax — a lot of people should have gone to jail, and they didn&#8217;t. I think the idea that President Trump was an agent of Russia was manufactured.&#8221;
He said that the president was well within his legal right to strip the security clearances and that it was good for the legal system that Trump was doing this.
&#8220;Well, private business aided government power in a fashion to destroy Donald Trump&#8217;s life,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You know, on our side, nobody in your world gets it, but our people believe that the Justice Department was used as a weapon to destroy Trump&#8217;s campaign and his business interests and to ruin his family.&#8221;
&#8220;That they made up bogus charges and they proceeded in a fashion that was designed to destroy him politically and personally. I believe that,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;And if these people involved pay a price, they got nobody but themselves to blame. That&#8217;s what I believe.&#8221;
Graham said that the law firms were pushing legal theories that were &#8220;designed for political outcomes more than legal outcomes.&#8221;
&#8220;And Jack Smith using the power of government, incorporating these law firms, in my view, were trying to disrupt and take down the Republican nominee for president,&#8221; he added. &#8220;That this was an orchestrated effort and Biden only regretted they didn&#8217;t do it sooner. So, it was politically motivated. And everybody with their fingerprints on it, I hope they pay a price.&#8221;
