The partisan battle lines are being drawn as a federal government shutdown on Friday appears increasingly likely.
Democrats have said that they want the DHS funding bill separate from other spending bills, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced a list of immigration-related demands on Wednesday during a press conference on Capitol Hill, including no more masking of agents, no “roving patrols,” and more accountability measures like body cameras and clearer identification of authorities.
“No more anonymous agents. No more secret operatives,” he said, claiming that Democrats are “united” behind the proposals.
“These are common-sense reforms – ones that Americans know and expect from law enforcement,” Schumer continued.
“Let me be clear: Democrats stand ready today to pass the five bipartisan bills in the Senate, but the DHS bill needs serious work,” he said. Some Democrats were invited to the White House to discuss ways to avert a shutdown, but they did not take the offer up, according to <a href="https://x.com/AlexMillerFox1/status/2016614243462713633?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a>.
In addition, Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) has posted on X that he will not support DHS funding until key Trump adviser Stephen Miller is fired from the White House. Many Democrats and a small number of Trump-critical Republicans, such as Sens. Lisa Murkowski (AK) and Thom Tillis (NC), have publicly stated they would like to see leadership changes made following the Alex Pretti shooting in Minneapolis amid Homeland Security&#8217;s Operation Metro Surge.
As for Republicans, Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) indicated that there is some GOP support for separating the DHS funding component from the other spending bills needed to keep the federal government funded, according to <a href="https://x.com/alexanderbolton/status/2016596283197194658?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hill</a>.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) said a lot of the discussion about dividing up the spending bills to isolate the DHS funds is “all hypotheticals at this point. And I would reserve optionality to consider that,” <a href="https://x.com/ChadPergram/status/2016599586626760706?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a> reported.
“But I think the best path forward, as I said, is to keep the package intact [&#8230;] if the bill goes back to the House of Representatives [&#8230;] who knows what happens with it over here,” he continued. However, the lawmaker said he wants to get the six spending bills approved without the legislation needing to go back to the House, which is out of session this week anyway.
Earlier this week, Senate Republican Conference Chair Tom Cotton (R-AR) pushed back against the possibility of a “mob veto” by Democrats, as the administration warns that a lapse in funding will harm the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Much of the funding for the president’s immigration goals was already signed into law in July under the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.”
If the government does close, it would be the second time in just three months — and some are still recovering from the nation’s longest government shutdown, which lasted for 43 days in the fall. That shutdown revolved around Affordable Care Act subsidies — and a solution still has not been reached on that front.

The Department of Justice could take major legal action after an anti-ICE protest hijacked a service at Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Sunday.
United States Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon told The Daily Wire in an interview Monday morning that she’s working closely with Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate for “federal offenses,” including breaking the FACE (Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances) Act, which Dhillon noted “criminalizes blocking, interfering with, disrupting a house of worship.&#8221; The protest was sparked over one of the pastors&#8217; employment with ICE, according to the Associated Press.
“That&#8217;s exactly what these people did. Clearly. So, the only question really is who they are and what other offenses there may be,” she said, later adding that “we don&#8217;t prejudge a situation, but we&#8217;d like to make the strongest case possible.” During the interview, the DOJ official noted that were two prosecutors flying to Minnesota as of Monday morning to dive into the case.
“I find the silence of the Attorney General of Minnesota, the District Attorney Mary Moriarty of Hennepin County, and the Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz, shocking. They&#8217;re the governor, District Attorney, and Attorney General of these people, too. And where&#8217;s the reassurance to them?” Dhillon asked.
The Daily Wire reached out to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office and Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office. Gov. Tim Walz’s office told <a href="https://x.com/MattFinnFNC/status/2013329688458932309?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a>, “The Governor has repeatedly and unequivocally urged protesters to do so peacefully. While people have a right to speak out, he in no way supports interrupting a place of worship.”
Dhillon also empathized with churchgoers who may be concerned about protests when attending a service in the coming weeks.
“I feel like I have to give a First Amendment 101 primer to people, including journalists like Don Lemon, because you don&#8217;t have a First Amendment right to trespass and invade a house of worship. It&#8217;s literally illegal to do that. And it&#8217;s not protected by the First Amendment on top of that,” she said. Former CNN anchor Don Lemon live-streamed the protest inside the church, and Dhillon suggested in other interviews on Monday that it could potentially open the door for charges against the liberal commentator.
“And so you can have your protest a safe distance away from a private facility. You can have your protest in a park, you can have a march, you can get a permit for a large gathering, but you can&#8217;t just go wherever you want and tear things up and disrupt. And that&#8217;s what these people did. And so now, people are afraid to go to church. And that is an absolute disgrace in this country,” the assistant attorney general continued.
She also recommended that houses of worship have cameras outside of their buildings to &#8220;be prepared to record what&#8217;s going on and who&#8217;s coming.”
“I would just tell people that they should not be on edge. We believe in the Almighty and this DOJ has the right and the ability to step in and protect where the local authorities won’t,” Dhillon noted.
Anti-ICE protests escalated in the Minneapolis area after an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Good, a woman who allegedly attempted to hit the officer with her vehicle, as the Department of Homeland Security said the agent suffered from internal bleeding after the incident.

Just hours after Renee Good was fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent she attempted to hit with her car, protesters began descending on Minneapolis.
By midnight on the day of Good’s death, protesters had blocked off both sides of the street with torn-off doors, trash cans, wooden crates, and signs adorned with quotes from Assata Shakur, a woman the FBI put on its “Most Wanted Terrorists” <a href="https://www.npr.org/2013/05/07/181914429/fbi-most-wanted-terrorists-list-who-is-assata-shakur" target="_blank" rel="noopener">list</a>.
For five days in sub-freezing temperatures, they marched and chanted that Good didn’t deserve to die. Many said ICE agents deserved to die.

The shooting occurred at 34th Street and Portland Avenue, where roughly 30 candles were set in the snow to mark the vigil site.
The Daily Wire spoke with mostly Minneapolis residents that night, but by Thursday morning, the crowds began to include people from across the country. Just before 7:00 a.m., about 2,000 protesters lined up at the St. Paul ICE Field Office. While the crowd from the previous night seemed solemn, this crowd carried intense anger.
“I started yelling at them, you know, just calling them names and the basic stuff.”
What did the basic stuff mean? The protesters answered soon enough.
“Go kill yourself,” one shouted.
“You f*cking traitorous scum,” yelled another.
From 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., protesters hurled insults at ICE officers as their vehicles arrived at the facility. When demonstrators blocked the roadway, officers responded by sending tear gas and pepper balls at the crowd’s feet.
By 9:00 a.m., the crowd dispersed from the ICE field office. On the way out, a woman wearing an AFL-CIO vest quipped, “We hit our goal time.”
One woman told The Daily Wire that it felt wrong for her to be at Good’s memorial because she’s a white woman with a lot of privilege. “I feel like white tears are not always helpful or necessary,” she said.
At one point, The Daily Wire team swung by a local McDonald’s. On the front door was a sign that read “No ICE Access In This Business.”

That night marked the first of two major evening protests. Despite sleet and snow, an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 people gathered to protest ICE and mourn Good. Protesters sprayed graffiti on buildings and disrupted traffic, prompting several nearby businesses to close their doors.

Friday followed the same pattern: morning protests, visit to the shooting site, and plans for nighttime demonstrations. Protesters claimed they had &#8220;received word” that ICE agents were staying at the Canopy Hotel. By 7:00 p.m., streets were blocked, and demonstrators swarmed the area with whistles, musical instruments, and noise-making devices intended to disrupt the officers’ stay.
One sign read, “We’ve done it before and we’ll do it again.” The sign appeared to reference the 2020 Minneapolis protests following George Floyd’s death, when large parts of the city were damaged.

During Friday’s protest, police and sheriff patrol cars were swarmed, and streets were blocked for roughly seven hours, from 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. The night ended with multiple arrests as protesters were handcuffed and taken into custody.
On Saturday morning, The Daily Wire made one last stop. The team returned to the ICE Field Office where Representative Ilhan Omar spoke to protesters. “We’re going to show all of them the door out,” she <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/omar-ripped-inciting-violence-after-mn-ice-shooting-make-sure-people-pay" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> to the crowd. “We are going to make sure that these people pay for what they have done to us.”

The U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Monday that President Donald Trump can deploy the Oregon National Guard to Portland to protect an ICE facility amid protests against the federal agency in the city.
“As we have always maintained, President Trump is exercising his lawful authority to protect federal assets and personnel following violent riots that local leaders have refused to address. This ruling reaffirms that the lower court’s ruling was unlawful and incorrect,&#8221; Abigail Jackson, White House spokeswoman, told The Daily Wire in a statement on Monday.
The Texas National Guard is still unable to be deployed to the city, according to the <a href="https://x.com/baylisswagner/status/1980351532433568058">San Antonio Express-News</a>.
“Finally, the proportionate response to the events in Portland further support that the President likely invoked [the law] lawfully and in good faith,” Judge Ryan Nelson, who was appointed by Trump, wrote in a concurring <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.ca9.b3c1c6b0-b390-4c9d-b557-fc5d525fd150/gov.uscourts.ca9.b3c1c6b0-b390-4c9d-b557-fc5d525fd150.61.0.pdf">opinion</a> in the case.
“A grossly disproportionate response could suggest that the executive might be acting pretextually, rather than in response to [the law’s] enumerated predicates,” he added.
However, Senior Judge Susan Graber, who was appointed by former President Bill Clinton, strongly disagreed with the ruling, saying that “no legal or factual justification” existed to send in the Oregon National Guard.

“Given Portland protesters’ well-known penchant for wearing chicken suits, inflatable frog costumes, or nothing at all when expressing their disagreement with the methods employed by ICE, observers may be tempted to view the majority’s ruling, which accepts the government’s characterization of Portland as a war zone, as merely absurd. But today’s decision is not merely absurd,” Graber wrote.
“It erodes core constitutional principles, including sovereign States’ control over their States’ militias and the people’s First Amendment rights to assemble and to object to the government’s policies and actions. I strenuously dissent,” she continued.
Protests have been going on in the city since June, including over the weekend when federal law enforcement used tear gas, according to <a href="https://katu.com/news/local/portland-protests-at-ice-persist-as-federal-agents-use-tear-gas-oregon-portland-immigration-donald-trump-arrested-counter-protest-counterprotest-maga-democrats-republicans-no-kings">KATU</a>.
&#8220;At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists,&#8221; Trump posted to Truth Social in September.

The Trump administration is &#8220;doubling down&#8221; on the sanctuary city of Chicago with the opening of more Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced during Thursday&#8217;s cabinet meeting.
Noem said she toured possible new ICE sites in the Windy City on Friday. Her latest announcement comes just days after Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chicago-mayor-brandon-johnson-signs-executive-order-establishing-ice-free-zones">order</a> to establish &#8220;ICE Free Zones&#8221; across the city in response to the Trump administration&#8217;s deployment of hundreds of National Guard troops.

The Daily Wire spotlighted specific lenders catering to illegal aliens, not by creating massive developments like Colony Ridge, but simply by advertising mortgage loans to illegal aliens looking to buy American homes.
One Pennsylvania-based company, highlighted by The Daily Wire, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/yet-another-mortgage-company-is-marketing-home-loans-to-illegal-aliens">sought</a> to “empower non-citizens” through its lending practices. The company, named Amres, even told the stories of illegal aliens who successfully used ITIN documents to get mortgage loans.
There’s also a Connecticut lender that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/inside-the-company-financing-the-illegal-alien-takeover-of-american-homes">operates</a> in Texas, Florida, and four other states. That company, Prysma Lending Group, distributed a guide to prevent deportation and even hosted a conversation with an immigration lawyer.

Then there’s Cayetano, a development company highlighted by The Daily Wire that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/texas-developer-tells-mexican-citizens-to-own-a-piece-of-american-land-on-southern-border">tells foreign nationals</a> to “own a piece of American land,” in Texas along the border with Mexico. The company owns multiple developments across Texas and accepts Mexican consulate cards as valid forms of identification, all while mimicking Colony Ridge with marketing tactics that appeared tailored to illegal aliens.
Amres, Prysma, and Cayetano, each of which has previously been the subject of Daily Wire investigations, are just isolated examples of a broader trend, with a slate of companies across the country advertising home loans to illegal aliens.
There’s also Novus Home Mortgage, a division of a Wisconsin-based bank that <a href="https://www.novushomemortgage.com/loans/itin-programs/">says</a> ITIN lending is open to those without a social security number, “including both legal residents and undocumented immigrants.”
Florida-based company AD Mortgage, which operates in 48 states, similarly appeals to illegal aliens on its site. Among those who <a href="https://admortgage.com/blog/itin-for-non-resident/">qualify</a> for ITIN loans, AD Mortgage says, are “immigrants, including undocumented individuals.”
Defy Mortgage <a href="https://defymortgage.com/learn/itin-loans-a-guide-to-mortgages-for-non-us-citizens/">explains</a> that it “provides comprehensive mortgage solutions tailored to non-US citizens.” Defy Mortgage specifically highlights that illegal aliens are eligible to receive ITINs. The company’s site goes on to say that those who can get an ITIN include “non-resident aliens, undocumented immigrants, and dependents who cannot get an SSN.”
ITIN lending, immigration experts say, provides another incentive for illegal aliens to remain in the United States.
“Access to mortgages can serve as an incentive for illegal aliens to remain in the country, especially at a time when the goal of the government is convincing illegal aliens to leave,” Ira Mehlman, the Media Director for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/inside-the-company-financing-the-illegal-alien-takeover-of-american-homes">previously told</a> The Daily Wire. He added that Congress could take action to establish a national standard for lending, or even consider prohibiting mortgage lending to individuals without legal residency in the United States. 
Some companies appear to have <a href="https://nationalmortgageprofessional.com/news/undocumented-not-unmortgageable-05042025">noticed</a> that ITIN lending could become increasingly risky under the Trump administration, both because of mass deportations and the potential introduction of new regulations.
Tricolor Holdings, which specializes in auto lending, said that it serves “credit [to] invisible Hispanics” and <a href="https://www.tricolorholdings.com/pdf/investors/Tricolor_Social_Bond_Framework.pdf">boasted</a> in one 2023 report that 69% of its customers were “undocumented,” a conclusion it reached after assessing the percentage of borrowers that didn’t use a social security number.
A representative of Tricolor Holdings told The Daily Wire that it has shifted its focus. &#8220;Due to the current environment, Tricolor shifted its focus from the no FICO borrower to a general market profile,&#8221; the representative said.
There is further indication that the Trump administration&#8217;s immigration enforcement policies could be having a chilling effect on ITIN lending.
One lender at JVN Lending, based in Walnut Creek, California, reports that she has noticed a decrease in the number of ITIN borrowers this year. That company <a href="https://www.jvmlending.com/loan-types/itin-mortgage-loan/">boasts</a> on its site that there is “no visa required” and “no social security number required” for borrowers of ITIN loans.
While it may take congressional action to truly confront the industry, increased enforcement could prompt ITIN lenders to reassess the risk profile of their financial strategies. The Department of Homeland Security and the IRS <a href="https://www.epi.org/policywatch/ice-and-irs-reach-agreement-to-share-taxpayer-information-of-suspected-undocumented-immigrants/">signed an agreement</a> allowing the federal law enforcement agency to receive information on taxpayers who are believed to be illegal aliens.
If illegal aliens know that filing for an ITIN might get their name and identifying information lodged in an ICE database, they may be much less eager to hand over their information to the federal government. 
Novus Home Mortgage, AD Mortgage, and Defy Mortgage did not respond to a request for comment.

A Colombian company worked on behalf of a U.S. immigration law firm offering deportation defense, identifying prospective clients as the firm targeted illegal immigrants with its marketing, according to a newly discovered lawsuit.
The 2023 lawsuit reveals how entities both inside and outside of the United States continue to profit from America’s mass illegal immigration crisis. The Colombian company explained that it was tasked with “the identification of Spanish-speaking individuals confronting immigration problems” on behalf of the law firm.
The data gathered by the Colombian company and intended for the use by the law firm was improperly obtained by a competing law firm that also provides deportation defense and other legal services to illegal immigrants, according to <a href="https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/USCOURTS-njd-2_23-cv-03038/pdf/USCOURTS-njd-2_23-cv-03038-0.pdf">the lawsuit</a>.
The Colombian company Professional Consulting Services was hired to gather all relevant data. The Colombian company’s software enables it “to collect and organize the personal information of potential Spanish-speaking individuals who may need assistance with immigration matters,” the lawsuit states.

Professional Consulting Services then provided this information to the South Carolina-based law firm, Inmigracion al Dia, which explicitly assists illegal aliens, stating on its <a href="https://inmigracionaldia.com/">website</a> that they are a &#8220;team of attorneys with experience in immigration proceedings representing thousands of Hispanics in the United States.&#8221;
“It doesn&#8217;t matter how you got here,” the law firm says on its <a href="https://inmigracionaldia.com/">website</a> in Spanish. “We evaluate your options for legalizing your immigration status in the United States and help you find a path to enjoying the benefits of legal status.”
The company offers <a href="https://inmigracionaldia.com/cancelacion-de-remocion">deportation defense</a> services and assists those who want to apply for an immigration forgiveness waiver, which the firm <a href="https://inmigracionaldia.com/waiver-perdon">describes</a> as “a legal process that serves as a lifeline for people who are illegally in the United States, violating immigration laws.”
Inmigracion al Dia <a href="https://inmigracionaldia.com/comienza-de-nuevo-organico?utm_content=297006179&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=facebook&amp;hss_channel=fbp-1700914376888936">promises</a> to help its clients “live and work legally in the United States indefinitely.”
The leads generated by Professional Consulting Services on behalf of Inmigracion al Dia are alleged to have been improperly used by yet another U.S.-based law firm that specializes in serving illegal aliens. That firm, called Inmigracion OK, also courts illegal aliens and promises to help them remain in the United States.
Inmigracion OK <a href="https://www.facebook.com/ads/library/?active_status=all&amp;ad_type=political_and_issue_ads&amp;country=US&amp;is_targeted_country=false&amp;media_type=all&amp;search_type=page&amp;source=ad-report&amp;view_all_page_id=101909022324252">advertises directly</a> to illegal aliens on Facebook, where it spent more than <a href="https://www.facebook.com/ads/library/?active_status=all&amp;ad_type=political_and_issue_ads&amp;country=US&amp;is_targeted_country=false&amp;media_type=all&amp;search_type=page&amp;source=ad-report&amp;view_all_page_id=101909022324252">$140,000</a> in 90 days from mid-May to mid-August.
“Are you undocumented in the United States? We could help you understand the process of obtaining papers. No matter how you arrived in this country, we can help you,” reads one of the law firm’s advertisements, which were originally posted in Spanish. “Having legal immigration status in the United States and a better life is possible.”
“Are you in New York undocumented? We can guide you on how to obtain your work permit,” one ad says. “Are you in the United States without regular immigration status?” yet another ad asks.
One member of the law firm, Oscar Barbosa, has an office with another law firm called Diaspora Law, the lawsuit claims. Also based in New Jersey, Diaspora Law “specializes in family immigration, business immigration and deportation defense.”
“We are immigrants too. Diaspora Law is passionate about helping immigrants because we all have a deep connection to the cause,” <a href="https://www.diasporalaw.com/">the firm’s site</a> says, also adding that it works “with local organizations to advocate for fair changes in immigration law.”
Neither Inmigracion al Dia nor Inmigracion OK responded to a request for comment.

Under President Joe Biden, taxpayer dollars kept illegal immigrants housed in luxury hotels. Now, a Republican congressman has introduced a bill that would reappropriate those funds to states that want to build their own versions of Florida&#8217;s &#8220;Alligator Alcatraz.&#8221;
North Carolina Rep. Addison McDowell has introduced the ALCATRAZ Act, The Daily Wire can first report. The bill would provide financial support for states that assist ICE’s illegal alien detention efforts by establishing or maintaining detention facilities, a critical component of the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign.
“Illegal immigrants are here because of the Left’s open border policies. No more.” McDowell told The Daily Wire. “Through codifying President Trump&#8217;s executive actions, no longer will illegals be put up in swanky hotels for extended stays. Now they will face swift deportation.”
“Through the ALCATRAZ Act, we will rapidly expand our available bed space for illegal aliens and facilitate their swift deportations,” the Republican Congressman added. “We could even see the creation of a Tar Heel Tank right here in North Carolina.&#8221;
Officially named the Accelerated Logistics and Coordination for Arresting, Transporting, and Removing Aliens Zones Act, the bill would reallocate the funds from the Biden administration’s Shelter and Services Program, which allowed illegal aliens to <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/05/07/us-news/nearly-2k-migrants-still-housed-in-nycs-historic-roosevelt-hotel-despite-city-saying-it-will-shutter-the-shelter-next-month/">receive housing</a> at the historic Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, to a new fund, called the Detention and Logistics Program.
That program would then be used to reimburse state and local governments that build illegal alien detention centers.
“States like Florida and Indiana are stepping up where Biden Administration bureaucrats failed, and this bill makes sure they have the resources to do it,” charged Congressman Barry Moore, one of the bill’s co-sponsors. “If we’re serious about securing the border, we must expand detention capacity and end the days of illegal aliens being housed in luxury hotels on the taxpayers’ dime. This is about placing law, order, and American communities first.&#8221;
The bill is also being co-sponsored by Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10), Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14), Congressman Byron Donalds (FL-19), Congresswoman Laurel Lee (FL-15), and Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (CO-04).
“The ALCATRAZ Act is about ending the revolving door at our border. States stepping up to build and operate detention facilities should be backed, not blocked, by Washington,” Rep. Harrigan noted.  “I’m proud to cosponsor this bill because it delivers the infrastructure needed to detain and remove illegal aliens while restoring order to a broken system.”
The legislation comes as Republican-led states have worked with the Trump administration to build illegal alien detention facilities. Hundreds of illegal aliens have been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hundreds-of-illegal-aliens-deported-in-first-flights-from-alligator-alcatraz">deported</a> from Florida’s Alligator Alcatraz, and both <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/alligator-alcatraz-has-some-new-competition-the-speedway-slammer">Indiana</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nebraska-to-expand-ice-detention-capacity-with-cornhusker-clink?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Nebraska+To+Expand+ICE+Detention+Capacity+With+%E2%80%98Cornhusker+Clink%E2%80%99">Nebraska</a> have announced plans to expand ICE detention capacity with facilities of their own — dubbed the Speedway Slammer and Cornhusker Clink, respectively.
“Alligator Alcatraz has provided a model for quickly and efficiently opening new detention facilities to temporarily house illegal aliens before deportation,” McDowell noted. “Instead of housing illegals in swanky hotels, it’s time to expand on this model and disincentivize what has been seen as a free ride.”
The increased detention capacity, the Department of Homeland Security says, is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ice-will-soon-get-more-money-than-the-fbi-have-capacity-for-a-million-annual-deportations?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=27&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=ICE+Will+Soon+Get+More+Money+Than+The+FBI%2C+Have+Capacity+For+A+Million+Annual+Deportations">critical</a> to increasing the number of illegal alien deportations. The federal agency noted that the passage of the Big Beautiful Bill provided the funding to <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/08/05/speedway-slammer-new-partnership-dhs-and-state-indiana-expand-detention-space">establish</a> a total of 80,000 new illegal alien detention beds.
If passed, the new legislation would also require the Department of Homeland Security to identify wasteful or redundant funding accounts and reallocate the money towards the Detention and Logistics Program. 
“Florida has seen firsthand the strain that illegal immigration places on our communities, our resources, and our law enforcement,” Rep. Laurel Lee stated. “The ALCATRAZ Act ensures that states like Florida will have the support they need to detain and remove illegal aliens swiftly and securely.”
The state of Florida has been locked in a legal battle over Alligator Alcatraz, with a federal judge siding with environmental groups and <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/miami/news/florida-ron-desantis-appeals-judge-rule-blocking-expasion-alligator-alcatraz/">ruling</a> that construction could not continue at the detention center and that new detainees could not be brought to the site. That ruling was swiftly appealed by Governor Ron DeSantis&#8217; administration.

Nebraska will expand ICE’s detention capacity with a new facility called the “Cornhusker Clink,” the latest detention center to follow in the footsteps of Florida’s “Alligator Alcatraz.”
The newly announced facility, which will be located in McCook, Nebraska, is the result of a partnership between ICE and the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services and will provide the federal law enforcement agency with an additional 280 beds.
The so-called “Cornhusker Clink” comes after ICE teamed up with Florida to create “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/it-will-be-nearly-impossible-for-illegal-aliens-to-escape-alligator-alcatraz">Alligator Alcatraz</a>” and announced a joint-project with Indiana to establish the “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/alligator-alcatraz-has-some-new-competition-the-speedway-slammer">Speedway Slammer</a>.”
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/08/19/cornhusker-clink-new-partnership-dhs-and-state-nebraska-expand-detention-space">announced</a> the creation of the new facility and told illegal aliens to self deport before they find themselves in an ICE detention facility.

Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen expressed his support for the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement agenda and explained how his state would work to support the federal efforts.
“Today the State of Nebraska is stepping up its support of President Trump’s and Secretary Noem’s immigration enforcement initiatives in several key ways,” Pillen said. “I am pleased that our facility and team in McCook can be tasked with helping our federal partners protect our homeland by housing criminal illegal aliens roaming our country’s communities today.”
The creation of the “Cornhusker Clink” comes as the Nebraska State Patrol announced it would sign agreements with ICE that could <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-trump-dhs-partners-with-100s-of-police-departments-to-supercharge-deportation-campaign">supercharge immigration enforcement</a> efforts in the state.
“I am also proud that the Nebraska State Patrol and National Guard will be assisting ICE enforcement efforts, as well,” Pillen went on to add. “Homeland security starts at home, and, just as when I twice deployed troops to secure our southern border during the failed Biden administration, Nebraska will continue to do its part.”

Nebraska To Expand ICE Detention Capacity With ‘Cornhusker Clink’

The Trump administration announced that it will be partnering with the state of Indiana to create a new ICE detention facility modeled after Florida’s “Alligator Alcatraz,” with the new location dubbed the “Speedway Slammer.”
The new ICE detention facility, which will be established in coordination with the Indiana state government, will be located at the Miami Correctional Facility, located roughly 60 miles north of Indianapolis.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced the new facility, explaining that it will allow the federal law enforcement agency to hold another 1,000 illegal aliens at a time.
“COMING SOON to Indiana: The Speedway Slammer. Today, we’re announcing a new partnership with the state of Indiana to expand detention bed space by 1,000 beds. Thanks to Governor Braun for his partnership to help remove the worst of the worst out of our country,” Noem said in a statement to Fox News <a href="https://x.com/BillMelugin_/status/1952839290993651760">announcing</a> the new ICE detention facility.
“If you are in America illegally, you could find yourself in Indiana’s Speedway Slammer. Avoid arrest and self deport now using the CBP Home App,” she added, referencing the app that the Trump administration is using to encourage illegal alien self-deportations.
Indiana Governor Mike Braun touted the new partnership with the Trump administration and asserted that the “Speedway Slammer” will assist ICE in its effort to “remove the worst of the worst.”
“We are proud to work with President Trump and Secretary Noem as they remove the worst of the worst with this innovative partnership,” Braun said. “Indiana is taking a comprehensive and collaborative approach to combating illegal immigration and will continue to lead the way among states.”
The “Speedway Slammer” comes on the heels of Florida’s “Alligator Alcatraz,” the new ICE detention facility located in the Everglades, which appears <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/it-will-be-nearly-impossible-for-illegal-aliens-to-escape-alligator-alcatraz?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=35&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Why+It+Might+Be+Impossible+For+Illegals+To+Escape+Florida%E2%80%99s+%E2%80%98Alligator+Alcatraz%E2%80%99">virtually impossible</a> to successfully escape from due to the treacherous natural conditions in the area and the dangerous wildlife that populate it.

An arsonist attacked an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in Washington state over the weekend, throwing a rock through a window and lighting a fire on the property.
The unidentified arsonist <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/08/05/us-news/arsonist-attacks-ice-office-in-washington-state-hurls-rock-through-window/">targeted</a> an ICE field office in Yakima, Washington, about 140 miles away from Seattle. Federal agents, the Department of Homeland Security says, managed to escape from the attack unscathed.
Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin slammed Democrat politicians for their incendiary rhetoric against ICE agents, accusing them of contributing to the surge in violence against the federal law enforcement force.
“Make no mistake, Democrat politicians like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Tim Walz, and Mayor Bass of Los Angeles are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE,” McLaughlin charged. “From comparisons to the modern-day Nazi Gestapo to glorifying rioters, the violent rhetoric of these sanctuary politicians is beyond the pale.”

“Secretary Noem has been clear: Anyone who seeks to harm law enforcement officers will be found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the DHS Assistant Secretary went on to say.
Noem has also called out Democrat politicians like Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell for “risking people’s lives” by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kristi-noem-accuses-nashville-mayor-of-risking-peoples-lives-with-opposition-to-ice?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=15&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Kristi+Noem+Accuses+Nashville+Mayor+Of+%E2%80%98Risking+People%E2%80%99s+Lives%E2%80%99+With+Opposition+To+ICE">opposing</a> ICE and doxxing agents who were active in the southern city.
McLaughlin noted that it has not been confirmed that ICE agents were the target of the attack, though the building is identified as a DHS office and is <a href="https://www.ice.gov/node/62180">identified online</a> as an ICE field office.
The arson attack is the latest assault against the agency tasked with upholding and enforcing federal immigration law. ICE agents have faced attacks from both leftwing activists and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/suspected-tren-de-aragua-member-charged-with-attempted-murder-after-attacking-federal-agent?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=47&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Suspected+Tren+De+Aragua+Member+Charged+With+Attempted+Murder+After+Attacking+Federal+Agent">illegal alien criminals</a>.
One unidentified man is believed to have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/violent-leftists-attack-federal-agents-during-immigration-raids-at-california-pot-farms">fired a pistol</a> at agents near Camarillo, California, while nearly a dozen suspects were <a href="https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/10-suspects-charged-july-4-attack-texas-ice-detention-facility">charged</a> early last month after attacking law enforcement at an ICE detention facility in Alvarado, Texas.

Three Venezuelan nationals released into the United States by the Biden administration have been charged in connection with a murder in Texas.
The three men were each <a href="https://x.com/BillMelugin_/status/1952396528934629851">charged</a> with capital murder and are believed to have shot and killed a 48-year-old man at a Motel 6 in Garland, Texas.
Two of the three men, Jose Trivino-Cruz and Jesus Bellorin-Guzman, were released into the United States by the Biden administration through the Customs and Border Patrol One app, an online platform that allowed migrants to remotely schedule asylum appointments and expedited the entry of thousands of migrants into the United States.
The third Venezuelan national charged in connection with the murder, named Yosguar Aponte-Jimenez, entered the United States illegally in 2023 before ultimately being released into the country by the Biden administration.
Two of the men are also believed to have held a woman at gunpoint at a different hotel that same day, allegedly robbing and sexually assaulting her.
“Three depraved criminal illegal aliens from Venezuela were released into the U.S. under the Biden administration and are now facing capital murder and robbery charges for shooting and killing a man at a motel in Dallas County, Texas,” Tricia McLaughlin, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary, <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/08/04/ice-lodges-arrest-detainers-3-criminal-illegal-aliens-venezuela-charged-capital">charged</a>. “Thanks to the brave men and women of ICE law enforcement, these criminal illegal aliens&#8217; crime spree is OVER.”
“These vicious criminals have no place in the U.S. ICE has lodged a detainer to ensure they are removed from our country after they face justice for their heinous crimes,” McLaughlin went on to add.
Both Jimenez and Trivino-Cruz are also believed to be involved in additional crimes. DHS says that Jimenez admitted to more than 25 robberies, while the federal agency says that Trivino-Cruz, who has been charged with aggravated robbery and indecent assault, confessed to perpetrating two robberies that same day.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed a detainer request on the three Venezuelan nationals and is expected to gain custody of the men.
