<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is bringing the full weight of her political influence to bear in an increasingly bitter fight over who will succeed her in Congress.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Pelosi, who has represented San Francisco in Congress for nearly four decades, is throwing her support behind San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan as she works to defeat state Sen. Scott Wiener, and to do it, the retiring congresswoman has spent weeks mobilizing her network on Chan’s behalf. She has hosted major fundraisers for the supervisor, secured endorsements from congressional allies, and even loaned a top adviser to Chan’s campaign.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Nancy has basically taken over Connie’s campaign,” Wiener told </span><a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/08/10/pelosi-wages-war-over-her-succession-01030149"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Politico</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, contrasting Chan&#8217;s operation with his own campaign, which he said has “enormous grassroots support.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Pelosi has made clear that she intends to see Chan elected. “I know and love this district, I know the Congress, and I know Connie. I’m proud to endorse Democrat Connie Chan and ask you to join me in electing her to Congress,” Pelosi said when she endorsed Chan.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Pelosi’s intervention is particularly notable because Wiener was once considered an ally. The two have known each other for decades, and Pelosi previously supported Wiener in his campaigns for local office. But their relationship deteriorated as Wiener positioned himself to succeed Pelosi. Wiener announced his congressional campaign in October 2025, before Pelosi publicly announced that she would not seek another term.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The timing of Wiener&#8217;s announcement has remained a point of contention among Pelosi&#8217;s allies. Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, a longtime Pelosi ally who now supports Chan, told Politico that Wiener had assured him he would not announce a congressional bid before Pelosi made her own plans public. Wiener disputes that account, calling it “fabrication” and saying he never made such a commitment.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Several of Pelosi’s longtime political allies and constituencies have followed her in backing Chan, including organized labor. Chan is also supported by Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the California Working Families Party and Our Revolution. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Wiener, meanwhile, has endorsements from the California and San Francisco Democratic parties, along with several major labor unions and a majority of San Francisco’s moderate-leaning Board of Supervisors.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The latest escalation in the intraparty feud came over an AI-powered campaign chatbot created by Wiener’s campaign to attack Chan. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The website, ConnieChan.ai, portrayed Chan as someone who says “no” to proposals involving housing and public transportation. Pelosi and a coalition of Democratic lawmakers and San Francisco political organizations condemned the chatbot, arguing that it could reinforce sexist and racist stereotypes.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Women have spent generations fighting to have our own voices heard in the halls of power,” Pelosi and her allies said in a </span><a href="https://x.com/TeamPelosi/status/2085488807152136474"><span style="font-weight: 400;">joint statement</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. “We should not have to fight against artificial intelligence putting words in our mouths.” </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Wiener later apologized and announced that he would remove both the chatbot and the billboards advertising it.</span></p>

<p>Bush, a former member of the far-left Squad, is challenging Rep. Wesley Bell (D-MO) in a rematch of the expensive 2024 Democratic primary. Because the St. Louis-area district is overwhelmingly Democratic, the winner of Tuesday&#8217;s primary is heavily favored to return to Washington in January.</p>
<p>The race has become yet another test of whether the Democratic Party&#8217;s recent leftward shift — fueled by victories from left-wing and Democratic-Socialist candidates in cities like New York, Philadelphia, and Denver — extends towards one of the movement&#8217;s most recognizable national figures.</p>
<p>Bush&#8217;s campaign also revives one of the Democratic Party&#8217;s most contentious internal divides: support for Israel.</p>
<p>When <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/wesley-bell-backed-by-aipac-defeats-squad-member-cori-bush-in-st-louis-distrct-primary">Bell defeated Bush in 2024</a>, the race became one of the most expensive House primaries in American history after pro-Israel groups, led by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee&#8217;s United Democracy Project, poured $9.3 million into the contest. Bush had become one of Congress&#8217; most outspoken critics of Israel after introducing one of the first congressional resolutions calling for a ceasefire following Hamas&#8217; October 7, 2023 terrorist attack.</p>
<p>Bell has continued backing military assistance for Israel while arguing the United States must support allies confronting hostile regimes. &#8220;I think we have to support our allies not only in Israel, but in Taiwan and in Ukraine,&#8221; Bell said during a recent <a href="https://www.stlpr.org/government-politics-issues/2026-07-29/missouri-primary-bush-bell-democrat-litmus">joint appearance</a> with Bush. &#8220;They are on the front lines of our sworn enemies.&#8221;</p>
<p>Over the past year, several insurgent Democratic candidates who criticized party leadership and took hard-line positions against U.S. support for Israel have won competitive primaries, leading progressives to argue that voters are increasingly rewarding candidates willing to challenge the Democratic establishment.</p>
<p>For their part, establishment Democrats, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) have endorsed Bell&#8217;s reelection. Bell has argued that his first term demonstrates he can effectively work within Congress while delivering results for the district, particularly following the devastating tornado that struck St. Louis in 2025.</p>
<p>Bush has countered that Bell has failed to provide the aggressive leadership voters expected, criticizing what she characterizes as an inadequate response to the tornado recovery effort and arguing the district needs a more confrontational representative willing to challenge both Republicans and Democratic leadership.</p>
<p>&#8220;The fight does not end because I got my feelings hurt,&#8221; Bush <a href="https://19thnews.org/2026/07/cori-bush-missouri-primaries/">told supporters</a>. &#8220;If you&#8217;re a true fighter, you get knocked down, and I got back up.&#8221;</p>
<p>Bush first rose to national prominence as an activist during the 2014 Ferguson protests following the police shooting of Michael Brown before defeating longtime Democratic Rep. William Lacy Clay in 2020. During her two terms in Congress, she became one of the most recognizable members of the Squad alongside Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).</p>
<p>Her tenure frequently put her at odds with Democratic leadership. Bush opposed former President Joe Biden&#8217;s bipartisan infrastructure package, advocated defunding police departments, slept on the Capitol steps to protest the expiration of the federal eviction moratorium, and became one of Congress&#8217; earliest and loudest critics of Israel.</p>
<p>Bell continues to support military assistance for Israel while Bush remains committed to cutting it off, making the issue one of the few major policy differences separating the candidates, who agree on many domestic issues.</p>
<p>For the left, a Bush victory would mark the return of one of the movement&#8217;s original national standard-bearers and suggest the Democratic Party&#8217;s activist base continues moving leftward after several high-profile primary victories around the country.</p>
<p>For Democratic leadership, another Bell victory would reinforce the coalition that removed Bush from office in 2024 and demonstrate that establishment-backed incumbents can still withstand challenges from the party&#8217;s activist wing.</p>
<p>The Missouri primaries are scheduled for Tuesday, August 4.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Five Democratic congressional candidates announced Tuesday the launch of the &#8220;Blue Collar Brigade,&#8221; a joint fundraising effort aimed at boosting their campaigns while promoting a populist platform centered on lowering costs, strengthening organized labor, and combating government corruption.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The coalition includes Bob Brooks, a firefighter union chief challenging Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-PA); Randy Villegas, a teacher and union member taking on Rep. David Valadao (R-CA); ironworker Brian Poindexter, who is running against Rep. Max Miller (R-OH); former smokejumper and union leader Sam Forstag, competing in Montana&#8217;s open western district; and Minnesota state Rep. Kaela Berg, a flight attendant and former union leader seeking an open House seat.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The candidates say they are pooling resources because they lack the wealthy donor networks often available to more traditional political candidates.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;As a union ironworker, my network of folks is very small,&#8221; Poindexter told </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/06/30/union-democrats-house-fundraising-00980980" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Politico</a></span>. &#8220;My very first call time, I called one of my fellow ironworkers and asked for $50, and he was laid off at the time.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;That&#8217;s when I had the understanding of what we&#8217;re really up against when campaigns like my opponent can spend millions of dollars and here I am trying to represent workers in Washington and scraping together $50 bills.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The fundraising alliance arrives as Democrats continue searching for ways to rebuild support among blue-collar voters after President Donald Trump expanded his coalition with working-class Americans during the 2024 election.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It also comes as the Democratic Party struggles with fundraising.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The RNC currently </span><a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5863917-nrcc-rnc-fec-2026-midterm-elections/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">reports</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> roughly $116 million cash on hand, while the DNC </span><a href="https://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/forms/C00010603/1968914/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">has</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> approximately $13.8 million and carries more than $18 million in debt.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Those financial struggles have fueled growing frustration among Democratic donors, many of whom remain dissatisfied with how the party spent its record-breaking fundraising haul during Kamala Harris&#8217; unsuccessful 2024 presidential campaign.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Several longtime Democratic donors have publicly criticized DNC Chairman Ken Martin for </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-harris-demands-dnc-release-2024-autopsy-as-she-plots-a-comeback"><span style="font-weight: 400;">slow-walking the release</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> of the full post-election </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrats-finally-admit-what-went-wrong-in-2024"><span style="font-weight: 400;">autopsy</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> he promised after taking office. The frustration has reportedly pushed some major donors away from the national party altogether.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I don&#8217;t see Ken as a leader,&#8221; one longtime Democratic donor told </span><a href="https://abcnews.com/Politics/democratic-donors-frustrated-dnc-chair-ken-martin-amid/story?id=132286127"><span style="font-weight: 400;">ABC News</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. &#8220;The DNC reached out to me probably six months ago, and I told them to take me off their list.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Against that backdrop, the Blue Collar Brigade represents an attempt to build a different kind of Democratic fundraising operation. Tuesday evening&#8217;s virtual fundraiser is being co-hosted by current and former leaders of several major unions, including the AFL-CIO, Communications Workers of America, Association of Flight Attendants, Iron Workers, and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Reps. Chris Deluzio (D-PA), Nikki Budzinski (D-IL), and Val Hoyle (D-OR), all of whom maintain close ties to organized labor, are serving as honorary chairs.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;When you&#8217;re a Democratic challenger and you&#8217;re someone who comes from the labor movement &#8230; you don&#8217;t have the same Rolodex as someone who can self-fund millions for their campaign,&#8221; Deluzio said. &#8220;These folks are going to do the hard work to win their races, but they&#8217;ve got to raise money.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The coalition is also attempting to reshape the Democratic Party&#8217;s image after years of criticism that it has become disconnected from working-class voters. Villegas argued Democrats can no longer rely solely on opposition to Republicans.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;It&#8217;s important to actually center working-class candidates and invest in them and make sure that we are prioritizing working families&#8217; issues,&#8221; he said. &#8220;These victories across the country are showing that we can&#8217;t just offer people &#8216;not Trump&#8217; or &#8216;not the Republican incumbent.&#8217; We have to be willing to offer people a vision for something more.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">That message reflects soul-searching within the Democratic Party after Trump&#8217;s gains among union households and non-college voters accelerated trends that have reshaped American politics over the past decade.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">At the same time, the Blue Collar Brigade highlights an irony facing Democrats. While the candidates present themselves as outsiders battling the political establishment, they remain deeply tied to one of the Democratic Party&#8217;s most influential institutional allies: organized labor.</span></p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">Not one Democrat voted yes.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Republicans wasted zero time going for the jugular.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;House Democrats&#8217; main constituency is illegal immigrants and criminals,&#8221; blasted RNC Chairman Joe Gruters. &#8220;Democrats have now voted dozens of times against funding ICE, Border Patrol, and DHS, repeatedly siding with open borders over law and order.&#8221;</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) was equally scorching. &#8220;For 76 days, Democrats held the Department of Homeland Security hostage,&#8221; he fumed. &#8220;They walked away from the appropriations process, shut down Homeland Security operations, and used the safety of the American people as political leverage. Even today, every single House Democrat voted to defund ICE and Border Patrol.&#8221;</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The GOP framed the Democratic no-votes as the latest chapter in what they called a relentless, systematic effort to kneecap President Donald Trump&#8217;s border security agenda. Republicans noted it marked the 37th time Senate and House Democrats have voted against border security measures — a stat they are clearly planning to weaponize heading into the midterms.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Mike Marinella didn&#8217;t exactly reach for diplomatic language either. &#8220;House Democrats just told every cop, every border agent, and every American family to drop dead,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Their soft-on-crime, open-border agenda has already devastated communities across the country, and they just proved they still haven&#8217;t learned a thing.&#8221;</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Democrats tried to spin their unanimous &#8220;no&#8221; votes as something other than opposing immigration enforcement. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) argued the bill handed ICE a &#8220;blank check&#8221; with no &#8220;guardrails, oversight, or accountability.&#8221; One independent member also voted against the bill.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Republicans weren&#8217;t buying it for a second.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Arrington framed the bill&#8217;s passage as a direct mandate from voters. &#8220;The American people fundamentally rejected the chaos of the last four years,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They elected Republicans for the promise of secure borders, safer communities, and restoring rule of law. The Secure America Act makes good on that promise.&#8221;</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The legislation now heads to President Trump&#8217;s desk, locking in ICE and Border Patrol funding through 2029 — a major win for a White House that has made border enforcement the centerpiece of its domestic agenda.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Democrats handed Republicans a gift-wrapped attack ad.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">And the GOP is already running with it.</p>

Rashida Tlaib lashed out multiple times during President Donald Trump&#8217;s State of the Union address on Tuesday night, including in a moment when she appeared to shout &#8220;KKK&#8221; while most of the chamber was chanting &#8220;USA.&#8221; The camera caught the Michigan congresswoman on screen during the exchange.</p>

<p>Republicans blasted Tlaib over the clip, with the National Republican Congressional Committee <a href="https://x.com/NRCC/status/2026505894771519709">stating</a>, &#8220;Everything you need to know about today&#8217;s Democrats. They cannot stand this country, they cannot stand its comeback, &amp; they cannot hide their contempt anymore.&#8221;</p>
<p>The Daily Wire reached out to Tlaib&#8217;s office for comment.</p>
<p>Tlaib, a Muslim whose district includes the highly-populated Muslim city of Dearborn, Michigan, wore a pin to the State of the Union that read &#8220;F*CK ICE.&#8221; She also wore a pair of watermelon earrings that apparently signify her solidarity with the &#8220;Palestinian cause&#8221; and another pin that read &#8220;Stand with survivors, release the Epstein Files.&#8221;</p>
<p>The Michigan congresswoman stood up alongside Minnesota leftist Rep. Ilhan Omar on other occasions during the speech to shout and wave fingers at Trump. Neither Omar nor Tlaib, however, stood when Trump asked members of Congress to get on their feet if they supported prioritizing Americans over illegal immigrants. They also did not stand when Trump highlighted the dozens of Israeli hostages who were rescued from Hamas captivity.</p>
<p>Tlaib mostly ignored the instructions from Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who urged Democrats to remain quiet or skip the State of the Union altogether.</p>
<p>“The two options that are in front of us in our House [are] to either attend with silent defiance or to not attend and send a message to Donald Trump in that fashion, which will include participation in a variety of different alternate programming that is going to take place in and around the Capitol complex,” Jeffries <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5748563-democrats-state-of-the-union-protests/">said</a> last week.</p>
<p>Dozens of Democrats boycotted the State of the Union and attended the &#8220;alternate programming&#8221; events, which were similar to political rallies where Democrats largely focused on bashing Trump&#8217;s immigration policies and tariffs. Tlaib and Omar opted to attend Trump&#8217;s speech and make a scene.</p>
<p>Texas Democrat Al Green made a similar decision and was booted from the chamber after holding up a large sign that read, &#8220;Black people aren&#8217;t apes,&#8221; a reference to a video that was shared by President Trump on Truth Social that briefly depicted former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama as gorillas. It was the second year in a row that Green was escorted out of the chamber during Trump&#8217;s speech to Congress.</p>
<p>During his address, Trump ripped Democrats multiple times, including calling them &#8220;crazy&#8221; for refusing to stand in support of protecting children from life-altering gender procedures.</p>
<p>“Who can believe that we&#8217;re even speaking about things like this?” Trump asked. “But surely we can all agree no state can be allowed to rip children from their parents&#8217; arms and transition them to a new gender against the parents, well, who would believe that were even talking about? We must ban it, and we must ban it immediately.”</p>

<p>House Democrats released new emails on Wednesday morning that work to tie President Donald Trump to Jeffrey Epstein&#8217;s sex crimes, with the White House immediately firing back labeling the emails &#8220;selectively leaked&#8221; and designed &#8220;to create a fake narrative to smear&#8221; Trump.</p>
<p>Convicted sex offender Epstein claimed in a 2019 email to author Michael Wolff that Trump &#8220;knew about the girls.&#8221; Other emails show him discussing Trump with his fixer, Ghislaine Maxwell, in which Epstein claimed that Trump &#8220;spent hours&#8221; at Epstein&#8217;s home with one of the sexual abusers&#8217; victims.</p>
<p>Epstein&#8217;s email to Wolff was sent on January 31, 2019, less than seven months before Epstein was found dead in what authorities say was a suicide in his New York jail cell.</p>
<p>&#8220;[T]rump said he asked me to resign, never a member ever,&#8221; the email to Wolff states. &#8220;[O]f course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine [sic] to stop.&#8221;</p>
<p>Epstein&#8217;s email appears to be addressing Trump&#8217;s move to force him out of his club at Mar-a-Lago. Trump, who was a friend of Epstein&#8217;s in the 1990s and early 2000s, <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/the-facts-and-timeline-of-trump-and-epsteins-falling-out">reportedly</a> kicked Epstein out of his club in 2007, just months before the wealthy financier pled guilty in Florida to state charges of soliciting a prostitute under 18 years old.</p>
<p>In another email released by Democrats on Wednesday, Epstein claimed that Trump &#8220;spent hours&#8221; at Epstein&#8217;s home with one of the sexual abuser&#8217;s victims.</p>
<p>&#8220;[I] want you to realize that the dog that hasn&#8217;t barked is trump [sic]. [REDACTED] spent hours at my house with him, has never once been mentioned. [P]olice chief. etc. [I&#8217;m] 75% there.&#8221;</p>
<p>House Democrats said that the emails &#8220;raise serious questions about Donald Trump and his knowledge of Epstein’s horrific crimes,&#8221; but the White House pushed back with context that appears to undermine the Democrats&#8217; release.</p>
<p>White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the redacted victim mentioned in the email is Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide earlier this year. Giuffre had previously said that she did not believe Trump took part in Epstein&#8217;s sexual abuse of minors.</p>
<p>&#8220;The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump. <p>In a third email thread unveiled by Democrats, Wolff and Epstein appear to be strategizing on political tactics surrounding Trump.</p>
<p>&#8220;I hear CNN planning to ask Trump tonight about his relationship with you&#8211;either on air or in scrum afterwards,&#8221; Wolff wrote to Epstein on December 15, 2015, the same day that CNN hosted a 2016 Republican presidential primary debate.</p>
<p>&#8220;If we were able to craft an answer for him, what do you think it should be?&#8221; Epstein replied.</p>
<p>“I think you should let him hang himself. If he says he hasn’t been on the plane or to the house, then that gives you a valuable P.R. and political currency,&#8221; Wolff wrote of what he thought Trump&#8217;s strategy should be. &#8220;You can hang him in a way that generates positive benefits for you, or, if it really looks like he could win, you could save him, generating a debt. Of course, it is possible that, when asked, he&#8217;ll say Jeffrey is a great guy and has gotten a raw deal and is a victim of political correctness, which is to be outlawed in a Trump regime.&#8221;</p>

<p>Critics have pointed out numerous holes in Wolff&#8217;s reporting throughout the years, including in his most popular book, &#8220;Fire and Fury,&#8221; which focused on the first Trump administration. Wolff wrote a piece for The Daily Beast earlier this year linking first lady Melania Trump to Jeffrey Epstein, alleging that she was &#8220;very involved&#8221; in the scandal. The Daily Beast <a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/epstein-this-story-has-been-removed/">removed</a> Wolff&#8217;s article from its site, writing in an editor&#8217;s note, “Upon reflection, we have determined that the article did not meet our standards and has therefore been removed from our platforms.”</p>
<p>Trump has not been accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein&#8217;s sexual abuse of young girls. The Trump administration, however, has faced criticism from both sides of the aisle for its handling of the Epstein investigation after the Department of Justice said in July that it reviewed the case and did not find evidence of an Epstein client list. The DOJ also concluded that the evidence shows that Epstein committed suicide in his jail cell.</p>

<p>The Republican-controlled North Carolina House approved a new congressional map on Wednesday, a day after the measure cleared the state Senate, likely securing another U.S. House seat for Republicans in the 2026 midterm elections.</p>
<p>The new map passed the state House along party lines in a vote of 66-48, as Democrats condemned the effort, the Raleigh News &amp; Observer <a href="https://www.newsobserver.com/news/politics-government/article312584734.html">reported</a>. The current North Carolina House delegation is made up of 10 Republicans and four Democrats, and the new congressional map is projected to shift that to 11 Republicans and three Democrats.</p>
<p>State law does not allow North Carolina&#8217;s governor, Democrat Josh Stein, to veto the new map, meaning the process is finished, pending any legal challenges.</p>
<p>President Donald Trump has urged Republican-led states to draw new congressional maps that are more favorable to the GOP ahead of next year&#8217;s midterms. North Carolina House Republican Majority Leader Brenden Jones celebrated the map&#8217;s passage, saying, “It’s a fact that we will send one more Republican to Congress from this great state.”</p>
<p>Jones also responded to the criticism over the redistricting and had some advice for Democrats.</p>
<p>“You can be mad about redistricting all you want, but you need to look in the mirror and ask yourself, what got us here?” he said.</p>
<p>The new map will mostly affect Democratic Rep. Don Davis, whose district will shift from an area that voted for Trump by just three percentage points to one that voted for Trump by 11 points in the 2024 election.</p>

<p>A spokesman for Davis <a href="https://x.com/ReubenJones1/status/1980345787109568915">told</a> Spectrum News that he will run again next year but is considering entering the race for the 3rd district, where Republicans would also be favored.</p>
<p>State House Democratic Leader Robert Reives said that the passage of the new map represented a grave omen for “our independence, our democracy.”</p>
<p>“I would ask that you mark this day, because one day they’re coming to you, they’re going to ask you to do something that you just can’t do,&#8221; Reives added. &#8220;And because we have set the precedent that only one man in this party matters, you’re going home.”</p>
<p>Republican state Senator Phil Berger <a href="https://x.com/SenatorBerger/status/1980641716311851245">said</a> that the new map &#8220;respects the will of the North Carolina voters who sent President Trump to the White House three times.&#8221;</p>
<p>So far, Texas, Missouri, and now North Carolina have <a href="https://apnews.com/article/redistricting-gerrymandering-congress-trump-0af8561b1670032fae3e1d2aec7905f0">passed</a> new congressional maps that will likely help Republicans in the midterm elections. Other red states, including Florida, Ohio, Indiana, Nebraska, and Louisiana, are also redistricting.</p>
<p>Democrat-led states, such as California, New York, and Illinois, have either introduced or are considering new congressional maps likely to put more Democrats in Congress. After Texas approved a new congressional map expected to give Republicans five additional House seats, California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom urged residents in his state to respond in kind by backing a statewide measure on the November ballot that would change the Golden State&#8217;s congressional map to favor Democrats.</p>

<p>The New York Democrat on Sunday posted a photo of himself leaning against a park bench in Brooklyn, with the caption: “Home Sweet Home.&#8221;</p>
<p>The problem: the photo was obviously edited, as evidenced by the fact that the area around Jeffries&#8217;s legs was warped, as was the bench behind him.</p>

<p>Jeffries posted the picture upon his return home from his <a href="https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2025/07/03/congress/hakeem-jeffries-longest-house-speech-00438933" target="_blank" rel="noopener">record-breaking</a> 8-hour and 45-minute speech in the House on Thursday, in which he attempted to delay the vote on the Big Beautiful Bill. The House passed the bill shortly after Jeffries finished speaking, and President Donald Trump signed the bill into law on July 4th.</p>
<p>Jeffries’ social media team seems to be defective when it comes to photoshoots. On Thursday, he posted a photo of him in his office with the caption “Protecting your healthcare is as American as baseball, motherhood, and apple pie.” In the photo, Jeffries is unsmiling, and stiffly holding a baseball bat.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Democrat voters are demanding that their representatives prepare for “violence” to “protect” democracy from President Donald Trump, saying that there “needs to be blood” to get the public&#8217;s attention, according to a new report. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Axios </span><a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/07/07/democrats-trump-resistance-violence-congress"><span style="font-weight: 400;">reported</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Monday that Democrat lawmakers are being told by their supporters that they are not doing enough to combat Trump and that they should support violent forms of political agitation. House lawmakers told the outlet that they have heard calls to “storm” the White House and be prepared to get shot. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One House Democrat said some supporters have suggested that what they “really need to do is be willing to get shot&#8221; during visits to ICE detention centers. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Our own base is telling us that what we&#8217;re doing is not good enough &#8230; [that] there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public,” the lawmaker added. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One lawmaker suggested that the calls for them to be arrested or victims of violence were racially insensitive. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“What I have seen is a demand that we get ourselves arrested intentionally or allow ourselves to be victims of violence, and &#8230; a lot of times that&#8217;s coming from economically very secure white people,&#8221; the lawmaker said. “The expectations aren&#8217;t just unreal. They&#8217;re dangerous.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The calls come as some lawmakers have been arrested or detained while agitating against immigration enforcement. The incidents range from California Senator Alex Padilla being briefly detained after he interrupted a press conference hosted by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to the indictment against Democrat Rep. LaMonica McIver for a scuffle outside a New Jersey ICE facility. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another lawmaker told Axios that &#8220;people online have sent me crazy s*** &#8230; told me to storm the White House and stuff like that,&#8221; while a different one  was told that &#8220;civility isn&#8217;t working&#8221; and that Democrats need to be ready for &#8220;violence &#8230; to fight to protect our democracy.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One lawmaker said that calls for action were getting out of control. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;It&#8217;s like &#8230; the Roman coliseum. People just want more and more of this spectacle,” the lawmaker said. </span></p>

<p>&#8220;We are an immigrant-filled community,&#8221; Frost said. &#8220;We are a community filled with people. And yes, people are going to have different statuses, and to my Republican colleagues who say, &#8216;I don&#8217;t want any undocumented people in this country,&#8217; I actually agree with you. <p>Others also sounded off.</p>
<p>&#8220;Reckless and wrong!&#8221; <a href="https://x.com/NRCC/status/1935431144486375924" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exclaimed</a> the National Republican Congressional Committee.</p>
<p>White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Adviser Stephen Miller <a href="https://x.com/StephenM/status/1935445811707408496" target="_blank" rel="noopener">warned</a>: &#8220;If the Democrats were to obtain full political control of Washington they would swiftly complete the project of relocating the destitute and developing nations of the world in your communities and then giving them the full rights and privileges of US citizenship.&#8221;</p>
<p>Chuck Ross, an investigative reporter for the Washington Free Beacon, made an observation that underscored Frost&#8217;s growing influence in the Democratic Party.</p>
<p>&#8220;Notably, Maxwell Frost is vice-chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, which is tasked with &#8216;developing and supporting a strong Caucus-wide message that forcefully communicates where House Democrats stand,'&#8221; Ross <a href="https://x.com/ChuckRossDC/status/1935467886513963084" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> on X. &#8220;And that messages [sic] is supposed to &#8216;sharply contrasts that with the extreme policies of House Republicans.'&#8221;</p>

<p>A federal grand jury indicted Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) in connection to last month&#8217;s scuffle outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in Newark, New Jersey, interim U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey Alina Habba announced on Tuesday.</p>
<p>In a <a href="https://x.com/USAttyHabba/status/1932572573713514913" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a> on X, Habba revealed that the three-count indictment charges McIver with &#8220;forcibly impeding and interfering with federal law enforcement officers.&#8221;</p>
<p>McIver said she will be entering a plea of not guilty.</p>
<p>&#8220;The facts of this case will prove I was simply doing my job and will expose these proceedings for what they are: a brazen attempt at political intimidation,&#8221; McIver said in a <a href="https://x.com/RepLaMonica/status/1932575526595489938" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>. &#8220;This indictment is not more justified than the original charges, and is an effort by Trump&#8217;s administration to dodge accountability for the chaos ICE caused and scare me out of doing the work I was elected to do. But it won&#8217;t work — I will not be intimidated.&#8221;</p>
<p>On May 9, McIver and other Democrats from New Jersey demanded they be allowed to conduct &#8220;oversight&#8221; of the ICE detention facility at Delaney Hall. A confrontation between them and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents ensued, as shown in ICE body-cam <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrats-claim-ice-agents-roughed-them-up-body-cam-footage-says-otherwise" target="_blank" rel="noopener">footage</a>.</p>
<p>According to a Department of Justice <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-nj/pr/congresswoman-charged-forcibly-impeding-and-interfering-federal-officers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press release</a>, the indictment says McIver forcibly impeded and interfered with federal officers amid their efforts to arrest the mayor of Newark, who had entered a secured area.</p>

<p>&#8220;Someone in the crowd yelled &#8216;circle the mayor,'&#8221; the DOJ said. &#8220;McIver then faced the Mayor and placed her arms around him in an effort to prevent HSI from completing the arrest. During her continued attempts to thwart the arrest, McIver slammed her forearm into the body of one law enforcement officer and also reached out and tried to restrain that officer by forcibly grabbing him. McIver also used each of her forearms to forcibly strike a second officer.&#8221;</p>
<p>McIver, initially <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/feds-charge-new-jersey-democrat-over-clash-with-agents-at-ice-facility" target="_blank" rel="noopener">charged</a> a few weeks ago, faces up to 17 years in prison if convicted.</p>
<p>&#8220;As I have stated in the past, it is my Constitutional obligation as the Chief Federal Law Enforcement Officer for New Jersey to ensure that our federal partners are protected when executing their duties,&#8221; Habba declared in her post on X. &#8220;While people are free to express their views for or against particular policies, they must not do so in a manner that endangers law enforcement and the communities those officers serve.&#8221;</p>
<p>Habba added: &#8220;Today’s decision by the grand jury is the next step in a process that my Office will pursue to a just end.&#8221;</p>

<p>House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) warned on Sunday that people &#8220;will literally die&#8221; if President Donald Trump&#8217;s &#8220;One Big, Beautiful Bill&#8221; passes through Congress and is enacted into law.</p>
