The GOP-led House moved on Thursday to cut billions in funding for foreign aid and public broadcasting, aligning with the Department of Government Efficiency&#8217;s (DOGE) recommendations to cut programs Republicans deem to be wasteful and ideologically driven.
A <a href="https://docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/20250609/SCALIS_004_xml[6].pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rescissions bill</a> that seeks to take back $9.4 billion in discretionary spending allocated toward foreign aid projects and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which provides funds to NPR and PBS, passed in a <a href="https://x.com/HouseDailyPress/status/1933251522961313997" target="_blank" rel="noopener">vote</a> of 214-212 <a href="https://x.com/CraigCaplan/status/1933254246561935683" target="_blank" rel="noopener">mostly along</a> party lines.
&#8220;President Trump promised to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government, and today House Republicans took a strong step in delivering on that promise,&#8221; House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) told The Daily Wire. &#8220;By solidifying savings found by DOGE, we’re reining in reckless spending and getting our fiscal house in order.&#8221;
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) <a href="https://www.majorityleader.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=4551" target="_blank" rel="noopener">introduced</a> the bill after President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dei-insect-powder-and-trans-resilience-trump-unveils-woke-spending-cuts-request" target="_blank" rel="noopener">submitted</a> a rescissions package seeking the cuts last week. Under the Impoundment Control Act, lawmakers have 45 days to act on the request, and it requires only a simple majority in the House and Senate — meaning the filibuster threshold can be ignored.
The legislation proposes cutting $8.3 billion from U.S. Agency for International Development and the State Department programs, including funding for &#8220;Net Zero Cities&#8221; in Mexico, Iraqi &#8220;Sesame Street,&#8221; and global LGBTQ+ initiatives, and $1.1 billion from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, targeting NPR and PBS following choices such as <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/news/npr-ceo-admits-outlet-was-mistaken-in-refusing-to-cover-hunter-biden-laptop-story/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ignoring</a> the Hunter Biden laptop story and trans-focused programming.

While the House debated the bill, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) <a href="https://x.com/DailyCaller/status/1933236626433716523" target="_blank" rel="noopener">held up</a> a doll of Elmo from &#8220;Sesame Street.&#8221; He bemoaned how lawmakers were debating legislation that &#8220;targets Elmo, and Big Bird, and Daniel Tiger, and &#8216;Sesame Street'&#8221; rather than a bill &#8220;designed to make this country and our economy more affordable.&#8221; Scalise <a href="https://x.com/search?q=jeffries%20elmo&amp;src=typed_query&amp;f=top" target="_blank" rel="noopener">delivered</a> a rebuttal in which he affirmed &#8220;Sesame Street&#8221; is &#8220;doing just fine&#8221; after being <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/19/business/media/sesame-street-netflix-pbs.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">picked up</a> by Netflix. &#8220;What will go away is some of the far-Left, radical views that are being espoused,&#8221; he added.
A continuation of the cuts is possible if they make it into fiscal 2026 legislation. Sources on Capitol Hill and the White House expect more requests to implement the so-called DOGE cuts to follow, assuming the first bill manages to pass through both chambers of Congress. It&#8217;s part of a wider effort to reduce the deficit, including income from tariffs and reining in the budget with the &#8220;One Big, Beautiful Bill&#8221; and the appropriations process.
In a post on Truth Social before the vote, Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114671982391481893" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> the rescissions bill a &#8220;NO BRAINER&#8221; and encouraged Republicans to vote for it to &#8220;&#8216;claw back&#8217; $9.4 BILLION DOLLARS in funding for wasteful Foreign Aid, used for Radical &#8216;DEI&#8217; and the Green New SCAM, and the &#8216;Corporation for Public Broadcasting,&#8217; which funds the highly biased NPR and PBS.&#8221;

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) has vowed to identify every single Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent who engages in raids while wearing a face mask — even though, according to acting ICE Director Todd Lyons, they&#8217;re wearing the masks to protect their families.
After weeks of facing death threats and having their photos and personal information published on the internet, Lyons confirmed that ICE agents have resorted to wearing face masks in order to avoid added risks.

Jeffries ultimately asserted that it would be a &#8220;red line&#8221; as the questions persisted. He also took a swipe at Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin, who <a href="https://x.com/UsaFeatures/status/1921308745495146726" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> CNN that arresting the Democrats in question was &#8220;definitely on the table,&#8221; pending an investigation.
&#8220;It&#8217;s a red line. It&#8217;s very clear,&#8221; Jeffries said. &#8220;First of all, I think that the so-called Homeland Security spokesperson is a joke. It&#8217;s a joke. The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/newark-mayor-arrested-after-dem-reps-storm-new-jersey-ice-facility-charge-past-security-officers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, who is running for New Jersey governor and is protesting the Delaney Hall facility, was arrested following the security breach last Friday. Alina Habba, the interim U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, said he &#8220;committed trespass and ignored multiple warnings from Homeland Security Investigations to remove himself from the ICE detention center.&#8221;
DHS <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/05/09/members-congress-break-delaney-hall-detention-center" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> two House Democrats who joined Baraka that day — New Jersey Reps. Bonnie Watson-Coleman and Rob Menendez — &#8220;stormed the gate and broke into&#8221; the facility.
While the New Jersey Democrats insisted they were at Delaney Hall to conduct legitimate supervision, McLaughlin <a href="https://x.com/TriciaOhio/status/1922309031894323482" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a post on X, &#8220;Members of Congress cannot break the law in the name of &#8216;oversight.&#8217; All members &amp; staff need to comply with facility rules, procedures, and instructions from ICE personnel on site. House Republicans have introduced measures to punish the Democrats involved in the altercation, including a censure <a href="https://x.com/RepTimmons/status/1922429753698484552" target="_blank" rel="noopener">resolution</a> against Rep. LaMonica McIver, another lawmaker from New Jersey who was at the protest, and a <a href="https://x.com/liz_elkind/status/1922347246147780625" target="_blank" rel="noopener">resolution</a> to strip them of their committee assignments.
On X, Pergram <a href="https://x.com/ChadPergram/status/1922424558449262905" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> that House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) told a Fox News colleague he believes there &#8220;needs to be an appropriate measure taken&#8221; as the &#8220;video doesn&#8217;t lie,&#8221; a reference to ICE body-cam <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrats-claim-ice-agents-roughed-them-up-body-cam-footage-says-otherwise" target="_blank" rel="noopener">footage</a> showing part of the confrontation between the New Jersey Democrats and DHS agents. He added, &#8220;I think it was wildly inappropriate for those members to do that and we&#8217;ll have to take appropriate action.&#8221;

House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) chided House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) for resorting to &#8220;fear-mongering&#8221; when discussing Medicaid in the GOP budget reconciliation budget plan.
On the latest episode of &#8220;Fox News Sunday,&#8221; anchor Shannon Bream played a clip of Jeffries warning about what Republicans intend to do with Medicaid as the House and Energy and Commerce Committee, which oversees the program, has been tasked with cutting $850 billion.
&#8220;They want to end Medicaid as we know it,&#8221; Jeffries said. &#8220;They&#8217;re going to hurt children, hurt families, hurt seniors, hurt people with disabilities, close hospitals, shut down nursing homes, and people will die.&#8221;
Arrington dismissed the top House Democrat&#8217;s dire assessment.
&#8220;The question is, will we be susceptible to the fear-mongering and the false rhetoric that you just heard from the Democrat minority leader in the House? And this is the same tired play they run and unfortunately, Republicans haven&#8217;t collectively leaned in and just done the right thing,&#8221; Arrington said.
&#8220;We will be rewarded because we&#8217;re doing this for the sustainability of these programs for the most vulnerable, as well as being fiduciaries for tax dollars,&#8221; he added. &#8220;And this moment will not happen in my political lifetime again, so we have to seize it, do the right thing and go educate and sell what we did to the American people. And the benefits that accrue, I think will come to fruition by the midterms and it will go well for our party.&#8221;
Lawmakers in Congress are working to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-2-0-in-100-days-one-big-beautiful-bill-comes-together" target="_blank" rel="noopener">devise</a> a budget reconciliation bill after passing a blueprint last month. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-2-0-in-100-days-one-big-beautiful-bill-comes-together" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suggested</a> the legislation could be complete by Independence Day.
All the details of the final bill have yet to be ironed out, but President Donald Trump has repeatedly insisted he would not touch Medicaid, along with Medicare and Social Security. Trump also has said fraud and illegal immigrants will be rooted out of the system.
The question of whether Republicans will &#8220;surrender the opportunity to actually bend the curve on entitlement spending and enact entitlement reforms&#8221; was one that, according to Arrington, has him using &#8220;if&#8221; conditional language when discussing the prospect of achieving the framework&#8217;s goals.
&#8220;Because there is a tremendous amount of waste and fraud,&#8221; he said. &#8220;In fact, the Government Accountability Office says upwards of $500 billion over the 10-year budget window just in Medicaid, you&#8217;ve got hundreds of billions siphoned out for other purposes than serving the Medicaid beneficiary,&#8221; he said. &#8220;There is no work requirement for able-bodied adults like there is in every other means-tested welfare program.&#8221;
Arrington continued: &#8220;And, in fact, Medicaid — because we give a higher federal match to able-bodied adult population, this is the Obamacare expansion population — we actually hurt access to the pregnant, blind, disabled, the most vulnerable, the poorest and sickest among our fellow Americans as a result of the structure of the program. We can save over $1.5 trillion without touching a dime of the benefit funding.&#8221;

President Trump has done an enormous number of amazing things, ranging from fighting DEI in every aspect of his administration to targeting university campuses that are hotbeds of antisemitism and leftism and wokeness, to having the Secretary of Defense try to fix all the problems at the Pentagon, to establishing DOGE, which is going through all aspects of government spending with Elon Musk and attempting to cut waste, fraud and abuse.
The president has issued more executive orders in his first 100 days than any president in history. He&#8217;s been incredibly effective in terms of pushing forward many parts of his agenda.
With all of that said, the <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/04/27/trump-poll-approval-rating-100-days/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">polling</a> right now for President Trump is not good. That is a reflection of public sentiment specifically regarding the economy. And that is all before the main effect of the tariff war that he has declared kicks in.
The good news for President Trump is that he&#8217;s blessed by his enemies, because they are awful. The American people hate the people that President Trump faces down even more than they dislike President Trump.
The same Washington Post/ABC News-Ipsos <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/04/27/trump-poll-approval-rating-100-days/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">poll</a> showing President Trump with a 39% approval rating also shows that 7 in 10 Americans say the Democratic Party is out of touch, while 6 in 10 say that about Trump.
So whatever the American people think of President Trump, they think even less about the Democratic Party.

Democrats are unhinged. Instead of them simply saying, “President Trump isn&#8217;t doing the job Americans want him to do,” which would be the smart way to actually approach this, they&#8217;ve decided instead that they&#8217;re going to go psychotic.
Hakeem Jeffries, the House minority leader and would-be House speaker, was in the middle of a protest when he <a href="https://x.com/IsaacDovere/status/1916660604577763511" target="_blank" rel="noopener">started quoting</a> Ulysses S. Grant during the Civil War, suggesting that America could break down between patriots and traitors. Presumably, the traitors in his mind would be Republicans. 
He quoted Grant saying: 
<blockquote>Whatever may have been my political opinions before, I have but one sentiment now: that is, we have a government, and laws, and a flag, and they must all be sustained. There are but two parties now: traitors and patriots.</blockquote>
This is just psychotic, because he’s not even arguing about the supposed violation of law by the Trump administration. He&#8217;s not arguing about emoluments. He&#8217;s arguing here about the budget. He&#8217;s suggesting if you&#8217;re on the wrong side of the budget negotiation, then you are a traitor. 
President Trump is blessed in his opposition. He brings out the absolute worst in all of his enemies. Jon Ossoff, the soon-to-be ex-senator from Georgia, was trying to rile up the Democratic base, and said that he&#8217;d be <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/sen-jon-ossoff-signals-support-trump-impeachment-rcna203126" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in favor</a> of impeaching President Trump for selling meme coins as a fundraiser. 
With all of that said, it is not good news for President Trump that he&#8217;s riding so low in the polls. That&#8217;s particularly true with independents; according to <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/04/27/trump-poll-approval-rating-100-days/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a brand-new</a> Washington Post/ABC News-Ipsos poll, among independents, only 33% approve of Trump while 58% disapprove. Among independents who lean Republican, Trump&#8217;s approval has dropped from 76% to 63% since February.
There&#8217;s one reason for this drop, and that reason is not immigration. That reason is not foreign policy. That reason is the tariff war. The tariff war has absolutely crippled him.
According to that <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/04/27/trump-poll-approval-rating-100-days/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">poll</a>, only 31% of Americans approve of the recent turmoil in the stock market. Only 34% of Americans approve of tariffs on imported goods. Only 38% approve of his relations with foreign countries, only 39% approve of his work on the economy.
The problem, however, is that whenever a president is unpopular on one issue, it tends to drag him down on a wide variety of other issues. On immigration, which is a signal issue, his key issue since 2015, President Trump is succeeding. But when it comes to the economy and expanding the power of the presidency, 64% of Americans say that he&#8217;s going too far.
If you&#8217;re hoping for President Trump&#8217;s success, as I am — as someone who voted for him and fundraised for him — he needs to succeed on the economy because if he doesn’t, everything else goes down in flames.
I&#8217;m talking to people who are in the wholesale and retail space and they are freaking out about the tariffs. They’re seeing their orders cut while prices increase. They’re seeing the supply chains break and ships arriving empty. There are a lot of fears of actual shortages and price hikes. I know people who are in the import/export business and they&#8217;re getting hammered, some looking at the possibility of actual bankruptcy. The Magnificent Seven are off to their worst start to a year.
As I’ve said before, there are preconditions to fighting a successful trade war. You need to get ready for it just like a regular war. If you&#8217;re going to win a regular war, you need to make sure your supply lines are in place. You need to make sure that you actually have the material. You have to have your allies in place.
Meanwhile, Congress needs to get the tax bill through ASAP.
President Trump&#8217;s presidency now relies on a couple of things. First, ending this trade war or recalibrating it so that it will be more likely to be successful, which will require dramatic moves. Second, passing the tax bill. If neither of those things happens, then President Trump&#8217;s presidency will continue to spin out. That’s because as the economy goes, President Trump&#8217;s promise for all of his career has been that he&#8217;s a great businessman, and he would make sure the economy was okay. 
Getting the economy right is what President Trump needs to do if he wishes to make the American people happy with his presidency again, which will give him the political capital necessary to do everything else.
That would be fantastic, because he is getting so many other things dead-right.

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten painted a dismal picture for Democrats — in particular for Democratic leadership on Capitol Hill — suggesting during a Thursday appearance that the bottom has effectively dropped out for the minority party.
Enten joined anchor John Berman on &#8220;CNN News Central,&#8221; where he highlighted a dramatic drop-off in the overall approval ratings of top Democrats — especially when it came to their handling of the economy in the months since President Donald Trump returned to the White House.

&#8220;Look at where we are now. That number has been slashed in half — to just 39%. Holy Toledo,&#8221; Enten exclaimed. &#8220;That is the lowest number by far in Gallup polling. The lowest previous was just 60%, which is 21 points higher than this.&#8221;
&#8220;Democrats hate, hate, hate, hate what their congressional leaders in Washington are doing right now on the key issue of the day, the economy. And their confidence has fallen through the floor,&#8221; he concluded.
Enten also pointed to recent polling that could spell disaster for Senate Minority Leader <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-data-guru-its-time-for-chuck-schumer-to-panic-sirens-should-be-going-off" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chuck Schumer</a>, noting that the longtime party leader was struggling to keep the approval of even half of Democrats in his home state. Schumer recently broke with his House counterpart — Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) — on a bipartisan spending bill to avoid a government shutdown, prompting backlash from within the party.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is also in disarray since newly-elected Vice Chair <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-dnc-leader-david-hogg-says-hell-push-primaries-against-some-in-his-own-party" target="_blank" rel="noopener">David Hogg</a> announced his plan to use Leaders We Deserve — an organization he founded — to funnel $20 million into <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dnc-chief-warns-david-hogg-if-you-challenge-dem-incumbents-leave-dnc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">primary challenges</a> for &#8220;out of touch&#8221; Democrats. Jeffries pushed back during a Sunday interview, saying he planned to support every incumbent Democrat, and longtime Democratic strategist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-honeymoon-is-over-longtime-dem-strategist-trashes-contemptible-little-twerp-david-hogg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James Carville</a> suggested that the DNC could sue Hogg for working against the party&#8217;s interests.
Meanwhile, Senate Minority Whip <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/no-2-senate-democrat-dick-durbin-to-retire" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dick Durbin</a> (D-IL) may have seen the writing on the wall — he announced on Wednesday that he did not plan to seek reelection.

We have now established, about a million different ways, that Democrats have no intention of learning anything substantive from their defeat in November. First there was the disastrous meeting to select new leadership at the DNC, which resembled a bad &#8220;American Idol&#8221; audition more than anything else. The various non-binary and BIPOC candidates spent all of their time <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INZi9nS5Pk4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">singing</a> and complaining about how oppressed they are, instead of reflecting in any way on how they just lost the election. Then Democrats encouraged a domestic terror campaign against Tesla, which is obviously a surefire way to demonstrate your commitment to a stable, functioning democracy. And on top of that, Democrats also decided to go to federal court on behalf of Venezuelan terrorists who had just been deported, because as we all know, that&#8217;s what swing voters are really passionate about.
It would be a pretty significant understatement to say that this is not a winning strategy for the next election. To any objective observer, Democrats are acting like a party that badly wants to go extinct. But of course, Democrats have no intention of going extinct. Their sole purpose is obtaining as much power as possible. So it&#8217;s worth asking — as we watch Democrats double down on every single one of their policy positions from the last election cycle — what exactly their plan is, going forward. If they don&#8217;t intend to appeal to voters, what are they going to do? How are they going to regain power?
Recently the Democrats&#8217; leader in the House, Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), answered that question. Because Hakeem Jeffries is one of those people who&#8217;s simply too dumb to keep a secret, we have this footage that makes one thing very clear: Democrats do not intend to persuade voters based on ideas or policies or anything like that. That&#8217;s not a major part of their strategy. Instead, Democrats intend to change the rules. That is the winning strategy they&#8217;ve settled on.
Specifically, they&#8217;re going all-in on a supreme court race that&#8217;s taking place on Tuesday in Wisconsin. If Democrats win the race, they&#8217;ll retain control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. And then, Democrats intend to use the Wisconsin Supreme Court to redraw congressional districts in the state so that more Democrats are elected, which (if successful) could ultimately swing control of the House of Representatives to the Democrat Party. So this is a state-wide race that will have major implications for the entire country. Watch Hakeem Jeffries explain.

That&#8217;s one of the creepier uses of the word &#8220;enlightened&#8221; you&#8217;ll ever hear. The Supreme Court of Wisconsin needs to be &#8220;enlightened,&#8221; says Hakeem Jeffries. And by that he means, the Supreme Court should be composed of Left-wing operatives who will do everything in their power to benefit the Democrat Party. This is how Democrats think about judges in every context.
Republicans select judges who will be &#8220;faithful to the law,&#8221; supposedly, which inevitably means that they routinely betray conservative principles and vote with Democrats half the time. Democrats, on the other hand, select judges who vote in lockstep with their party. That&#8217;s what they&#8217;ve done in the U.S. Supreme Court. And it&#8217;s what they&#8217;re doing in Wisconsin, as well.

If you&#8217;re confused about exactly what Jeffries is talking about, I&#8217;ll try to explain the general idea. Democrats are claiming that Republicans have gerrymandered Wisconsin&#8217;s congressional districts, by drawing the districts in an artificial way so that Democrats are only capable of winning two districts out of eight total in the state. In other words, they&#8217;re saying that the districts are currently drawn so that all of the Democrat voters are jammed into two districts. And now Democrats are promising to use the Supreme Court to redraw those districts, in such a way as to guarantee that Democrat voters are spread across more districts. In the end, the goal is to seat more Democrats in the House of Representatives, and unseat Mike Johnson (R-LA) and the Republicans from power.
One of the many problems here is that Wisconsin&#8217;s congressional districts, as they stand right now, are completely reasonable. There is no reason to redraw them, unless you&#8217;re trying to find some artificial way to get more Democrats in office. Here&#8217;s an image of what the districts look like at the moment:

As you can see, the Milwaukee and Madison areas, in the southern portion of the state, each have their own district. And those are the two congressional districts that Democrats control at the moment — Districts 2 and 4.
If you compare that district map to the results in Wisconsin from the last presidential election, you&#8217;ll immediately notice the problems that Democrats have. Take a look at this:

As you can see, the overwhelming number of counties in the state are Republican. Pretty much all of them voted for Trump. Democrats&#8217; strongest base of support in Wisconsin is in the southern portion of the state by far — in places like Milwaukee and Madison. Those are the urban centers, so that makes sense. This is why Republicans have control of six out of the eight districts in Wisconsin, even though Donald Trump defeated Kamala Harris in Wisconsin by less than 1%. The Democrat voters happen to be extremely concentrated in these two places, and each of these two places is represented by a distinct congressional district.
In order to accomplish the results that Democrats like Hakeem Jeffries want — which is something like a 50-50 split in the congressional districts — you&#8217;d need to start carving up Districts 2 and 4. There&#8217;s simply no other way to do it, given that the rest of the state is reliably conservative. That&#8217;s what Democrats will have the Wisconsin Supreme Court do, if they win the election on Tuesday. Milwaukee and Madison would be divided in various illogical and arbitrary ways.
But this isn&#8217;t how congressional districts are supposed to work. Congressional districts aren&#8217;t supposed to be drawn so that they produce the same results as statewide elections. They&#8217;re supposed to be drawn to give a voice to the specific needs of various districts — including rural areas, which don&#8217;t have a lot in common with cities like Milwaukee. It&#8217;s a similar reason why we have the Electoral College (which of course, Democrats are also trying to abolish). We want congressional districts to reflect the unique nature of a particular area. That&#8217;s the whole point of them.
But for many years now, Democrats in Wisconsin have attempted to use redistricting for a very different purpose. And they&#8217;ve been having a lot of success. In late 2023, Democrats in Wisconsin installed a judge on the state supreme court who had openly campaigned on the platform of redrawing the state&#8217;s electoral maps for state and local elections. This is apparently the kind of thing that judges do in Wisconsin; they tell voters how they&#8217;ll decide cases, once they become a judge. That judge won, and indeed, the maps for state-level elections were ultimately redrawn. And the results were immediate. 
In the November election — which, again, Donald Trump won in Wisconsin — Democrats flipped 14 state Senate and Assembly seats in Wisconsin.
Yes, in an election where the Republican candidate for president was victorious in the state-wide vote in Wisconsin, Republicans nevertheless suffered major losses in the state government. And without any irony whatsoever, Democrats celebrated this outcome as a major victory for democracy. And now that they&#8217;ve rigged the state-wide districts, Democrats are taking aim at Wisconsin&#8217;s federal congressional districts, so that they can retake the House and obstruct Donald Trump in Congress.
It&#8217;s not just Hakeem Jeffries who&#8217;s admitting this. I watched a little bit of the debate between Brad Schimel, the Republican candidate for this Supreme Court seat, and Susan Crawford, the Democrat candidate. It turns out that Crawford received an email invitation for an event about how she can help Democrats gain two seats in the House of Representatives. And then she attended the event via Zoom. Watch how she tried to explain this:

This is the level of corruption and shamelessness that Democrats are bringing to this race. Their candidate for the Wisconsin supreme court gets caught attending a planning session for how she&#8217;s going to use her position — as a supposedly nonpartisan judge who follows the law — to help Democrats in the House. And then she lies about it during a televised debate. And somehow, she&#8217;s ahead in the polls.
I watched some more of this debate, and she rattles off the usual lies about abortion, and how important it is for women to be able to murder their children for any reason. Then she lies about &#8220;heartbeat bills&#8221; and so on. She is, in every respect, an atrocious candidate. She is acting exactly like a generic Democrat partisan operative, because that&#8217;s exactly what she is. Republicans simply should not lose this race.
But at the moment, roughly 95% of Kamala Harris voters are backing Crawford, while only around 87% of Trump voters are supporting Schimel. That needs to change between now and Tuesday, or else Crawford will win. And that could potentially be a disaster for Republicans at the national level, at least in the short term.
It&#8217;s worth ending on a note of optimism here. Regardless of what happens in Wisconsin, it looks like Democrats&#8217; representation in the House of Representatives is going to decline significantly by 2030, when the next Census kicks in.

That&#8217;s because, as this map demonstrates, people are leaving states like California, New York and Illinois. And they&#8217;re flooding into states like Texas and Florida. Democrats have forced millions of people to leave the states they&#8217;ve mismanaged. And that affects representation in the House, which is based on population — whether those residents are legal or illegal. On balance, that likely means that Republicans will pick up around 12 seats in the House by 2030. That&#8217;s more than three times the size of the GOP&#8217;s current majority. And because the Trump administration is sharply cutting down on the number of illegal aliens in this country, it&#8217;s going to be difficult for Democrats to compensate by flooding the zone with foreign nationals.
In other words, the broader indicators for conservatives are very strong right now. Democrats are doubling down on their most insane and alienating positions. And they&#8217;re resorting to gerrymandering, and promoting judges who are obviously corrupt, in an attempt to claw back a couple of House seats. But whether Democrats win those seats or not, the fact remains that Democrats&#8217; constituency is shrinking by the day. That&#8217;s also why they lost the popular vote in the last election, to their great shock and horror. No matter how much lawfare these people engage in, it remains true that, in this country, voters — not judges — have the power. 
What we&#8217;re seeing is that Democrats — both in Wisconsin and in Washington — apparently believe otherwise. They think judges get to run the executive branch, just like they think judges get to award Democrats another two seats in the House of Representatives. But on Tuesday, with the entire country watching, voters in the state of Wisconsin have an opportunity to prove them wrong. For the sake of the rule of law in this country, and for the Republicans&#8217; control of the House, let&#8217;s hope they do so.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) delivered a back-handed insult to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) over his eleventh-hour conversion on the Republican-led Continuing Resolution that passed on Friday, ensuring that the federal government would be funded through September.
Pelosi — who voted with nearly all of the Democrats in the lower chamber (save Maine&#8217;s Rep. Jared Golden) against the stopgap measure — suggested that Schumer had essentially given away his vote, giving President Donald Trump and the Republicans a win without getting anything in return for his own party.
&#8220;I myself don’t give away anything for nothing,&#8221; Pelosi said at a Tuesday <a href="https://sfstandard.com/2025/03/18/san-francisco-nancy-pelosi-chuck-schumer-medicaid-government-shutdown/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press conference</a> in her hometown of San Francisco. &#8220;And I think that’s what happened the other day.&#8221;
Pelosi had <a href="https://pelosi.house.gov/news/press-releases/pelosi-statement-government-funding-bill-senate">lauded</a> her successor in House leadership, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), and called on her party to reject the CR: &#8220;I salute Leader Hakeem Jeffries for his courageous rejection of this false choice, and I am proud of my colleagues in the House Democratic Caucus for their overwhelming vote against this bill.&#8221;
She went on to suggest that any shutdown would be blamed on President Trump in spite of the fact that Democrats — in the Senate in particular — were the only ones with the power to either push the bill across the finish line or stop it in its tracks. &#8220;America has experienced a Trump shutdown before – but this damaging legislation only makes matters worse. Democrats must not buy into this false choice. We must fight back for a better way,&#8221; she said.
Schumer argued that a shutdown, given the optics, would be far more damaging to the Democratic Party as a whole than the passage of the CR — but his party, thus far, does not appear to be buying his argument.
The Senate leader was even on his heels on ABC&#8217;s &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-think-you-caved-schumer-gets-an-absolute-grilling-on-the-view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The View</a>&#8221; — which would typically be a relatively friendly audience for Democrats — as several of the hosts questioned not just his vote but also his leadership moving forward.
Even Jeffries, who typically would not cross Schumer in public, refused to answer when asked whether he felt the longtime senator was still the right person to lead the Senate.
One unnamed House Democrat, according to an <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/03/19/chuck-schumer-house-democrats-hakeem-jeffries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Axios report</a> published on Tuesday, said that Schumer&#8217;s popularity within the party was &#8220;hovering somewhere between Elon Musk and the Ebola virus.&#8221;

If you thought Democrats couldn&#8217;t possibly get any dumber, think again.
Somehow they have managed to achieve this signal feat. When it comes to the economy, President Trump is currently having some trouble, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average down significantly since he took office.
Plus, there&#8217;s a lot of concern about the possibility of a recession in the near future in the United States, despite some pretty strong economic fundamentals. Even in the polling data, President Trump is moving the wrong way in regard to the economy.
If the economy picks up or continues to truck along, it does not mean President Trump can’t heal all of that. It just means that, because of all the volatility that has been injected into the economy and all the talk about tariffs, the news about the economy is not favorable to the president right now.
Thus, there’s a clear and obvious opening for Democrats.
And yet… 
Democrats are not only not going to take advantage of the opening, but they are also, figuratively speaking, going to shoot themselves in the foot.
As a Republican, I approve.
Through the leadership of Speaker of the House Mike Johnson — no thanks to Thomas Massie — the GOP passed a continuing resolution that will fund the government until roughly September, which gives Republicans plenty of time to negotiate a budget deal amongst themselves — to come up with the one big, beautiful bill that they need to pass — and get that done without the government simply falling apart.
That&#8217;s why the government shutdown was averted by the Republicans in the House. Now, it gets passed onto the Senate, where the GOP has a majority. Rand Paul has said he&#8217;s going to vote against the continuing resolution (CR), but there&#8217;s still 52 votes in favor. Even if it got down to 50 votes, JD Vance would then break the tie in favor of the CR.
So, if you&#8217;re a Democrat at this point, you&#8217;re looking at the state of the economy, which is somewhat dicey and volatile, because you can&#8217;t predict the future there. That is their only tool to attack President Trump. What the Democrats don&#8217;t want to do is get into the business of owning the economy. Why would you want to own that if Republicans had fallen down on the job and been unable to pass a continuing resolution? They could have blamed Republicans for the shutdown.
This was the Democratic plan in the House. It&#8217;s the reason why Hakeem Jeffries instructed Democrats not to vote in favor of the so-called clean continuing resolution, which is just a maintenance of funding at current levels all the way through September. All Democrats, except for one, did not participate in the CR.

But now the Democrats seem to want to actively kill the continuing resolution and push America into a government shutdown that they clearly will own.
That move makes no sense, politically speaking. Yesterday, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy/government-shutdown-democrats-funding-deadline-bcb67826" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Wall Street Journal</a> reported, “Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer threw a wrench into a Republican plan to avert a government shutdown this weekend, saying there wasn’t enough Democratic support to advance the measure funding federal agencies through Sept. 30.”
You may be wondering, don&#8217;t Republicans actually have a majority in the Senate?
Yes, they do. But in order to overcome a filibuster, in order to invoke cloture, they need 60 votes.
Democrats could simply eschew filibustering. They could just say, “Fine, listen, you want to vote for the CR? Then vote for the CR.” Instead, Democrats are now actively considering filibustering a clean continuing resolution, which makes no political sense. Most Americans are just saying, “Leave us alone,” which is effectively what the CR does.
If Democrats want to throw a wrench into that for no apparent reason, then they will own any government shutdown. And if the economy turns south, then they own it. They own a big chunk of that because a government shutdown is going to throw all sorts of scares into the market.
The Journal continued:
<blockquote>Republicans “do not have the votes in the Senate,” to move the resolution forward, Schumer said on the Senate floor, indicating that his party was prepared to block it. He blamed Republicans, saying they “chose a partisan path” in their bill without any input from congressional Democrats.</blockquote>
It sure seems partisan to use your 47 votes in the United States Senate to hold up 53 votes in the Senate, simply because your base is mad at you for not standing up enough to President Trump&#8217;s agenda.
The Journal continued, writing, “As an alternative, Schumer floated a shorter-term plan that would fund the government for a month. ‘I hope my Republican colleagues will join us to avoid a shutdown on Friday,’ he said.”
Schumer is hoping the Republican coalition will fall apart in the meantime and that the economy will fall apart during that month. He&#8217;s hoping the stock market crashes in that interim month, and then he won&#8217;t be blamed no matter what happens.
But, again, what he&#8217;s doing right now makes no political sense. He is injecting Democrats into the middle of the most dicey proposition for the Trump administration.
I don&#8217;t understand any of the logic here. The first rule of politics is do not — do not — get in the way of your opponent making a mistake. Do not interrupt your enemy when your enemy is making a mistake. If the Democrats’ idea is that the Republicans own every aspect of the economy, then they have to let the Republicans own the economy. If they inject themselves into that process in order to shut down the government, they then own what comes next.
Republicans know this, which is why House Speaker Mike Johnson said the ball is in Schumer&#8217;s court.

The Democrats hope that funding the CR for a short term will force the Republicans to basically negotiate with Democrats. But that is not what&#8217;s going to happen. The GOP is fully willing to allow Democrats to own a government shutdown; Schumer is going to have to own it.
If you invoke a filibuster in order to own a government shutdown, you are a moron.
And what Schumer is doing here is really stupid.
It&#8217;s virtually the best-case scenario for President Trump. Let&#8217;s say Schumer does the filibuster, and the government shutdown occurs because he did the filibuster. President Trump then has the unique capacity to determine who exactly is an essential worker under federal law. At that point, he can let Elon Musk in there with the chainsaw.
They&#8217;re playing right into Trump&#8217;s hands.

Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) broke with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) in the aftermath of President Donald Trump&#8217;s Tuesday address to a joint session of Congress, saying that the Democratic Party was still trying to regain its footing.
Slotkin, who gave her party&#8217;s response to Trump&#8217;s address, pushed back on Jeffries&#8217; <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/politics/we-have-the-republicans-on-the-run-hakeem-jeffries-wildly-claims-dems-have-the-gop-running-scared/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recent claims</a> that Democrats had Trump and the Republicans &#8220;on the run&#8221; when it came to the major issues affecting everyday Americans.
The newly-elected Michigan Senator suggested that the opposite was true — and even when asked directly, did not give a clear answer as to who she believed was leading her party.

House Republicans are moving to censure Rep. Al Green (D-TX) for his outburst during President Donald Trump&#8217;s address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night that led to the Democrat being <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/deported-dem-rep-al-green-booted-from-trump-address-to-congress" target="_blank" rel="noopener">removed</a> from the House chamber.
In <a href="https://x.com/cspan/status/1897335445622768109" target="_blank" rel="noopener">remarks</a> on the House floor on Wednesday, Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) gave notice that he intended to offer a censure resolution as privileged, which gives House leadership two legislative days to take action on it.

The resolution, a copy of which was <a href="https://punchbowl.news/newhou_020_xml-2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">obtained</a> by Punchbowl News, faults Green over a &#8220;breach of proper conduct&#8221; for disrupting Trump&#8217;s speech and having to &#8220;be removed from the chamber by the Sergeant at Arms&#8221; after &#8220;numerous disruptions.&#8221;
If the resolution is approved, Green will be expected to show up to the House chamber for the pronouncement of the censure. The Hill&#8217;s Emily Brooks <a href="https://x.com/emilybrooksnews/status/1897345095310925845" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that a vote will likely take place on Thursday. A simple majority is needed for passage.
Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) has also unveiled a resolution to censure Green. He said in a post on X that Green&#8217;s behavior was &#8220;shameful and inexcusable, and his actions brought shame to the great state of Texas.&#8221;

Green stood and shouted early on in Trump&#8217;s address, leading to a pause in the remarks and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) demanding that members &#8220;uphold and maintain decorum in the House and to cease any further disruptions.&#8221;
However, Green ignored the warning and yelled, &#8220;You have no mandate to cut Medicaid!&#8221; — a program that Trump has said he has no intention of touching. Johnson then ordered the House sergeant at arms to remove Green.

Outside the chamber, Green <a href="https://x.com/cspan/status/1897117558500700644" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> reporters that he was &#8220;willing to suffer whatever punishment&#8221; for disrupting Trump&#8217;s speech and insisting that it was &#8220;worth it&#8221; to raise awareness about what Republicans may do to safety-net programs.
Johnson <a href="https://x.com/nicksortor/status/1897147025533067744" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> Green&#8217;s conduct &#8220;shameful&#8221; during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said he planned to have a conversation with Green, according to <a href="https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2025/03/05/congress/jeffries-on-censure-00213165" target="_blank" rel="noopener">POLITICO</a>.
Green has filed multiple articles of impeachment against Trump over the years, though none have prevailed. Just weeks after Inauguration Day, Green announced his intent to file articles of impeachment against Trump for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-democrat-moves-to-impeach-trump-over-dastardly-deeds" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;dastardly deeds.&#8221;</a>
Throughout history, <a href="https://history.house.gov/Institution/Discipline/Expulsion-Censure-Reprimand/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">27 House members</a> have been censured, which is a formal rebuke and a less severe form of punishment than expulsion. Former Rep.
