U.S. Customs and Border Protection intercepted an overcrowded vessel carrying hundreds of Haitian migrants en route to the United States. 
At 2:45 p.m. on May 31, Air Interdiction Agents, who pilot airplanes and helicopters, detected a vessel about 65 nautical miles south of Turks and Caicos. The vessel, a 50-foot Haitian wooden boat, was heading north toward the islands.
On board were 240 migrants from Haiti “attempting an illegal maritime migration.” 
At 9:08 p.m., the U.S. Coast Guard reported the vessel was dead in the water. Turks and Caicos authorities declared a search and rescue case due to the risk of capsizing, <a href="https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/national-media-release/amo-aircraft-assists-turks-and-caicos-authorities-rescue-240">according to CBP. </a>
No injuries were reported.

“Our personnel helped prevent what could have been a catastrophic loss of life while stopping yet another illegal migration attempt,” CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott said. 
Of the 240 migrants onboard, there were 191 adult males, 44 adult females, and five minors. Turks and Caicos authorities helped intercept the vessel and ensured the passengers did not reach U.S. soil, according to CBP. 
“The message remains clear: illegal maritime migration is dangerous, it is not worth the risk, and you will not gain entry into the U.S.,” Scott added. 
The seizure reflects the Trump administration’s ongoing efforts to secure the border and deter illegal immigration. 
After assuming office, President Trump revoked the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) of hundreds of thousands of Haitian migrants living in the United States. The executive action is currently pending before the U.S. Supreme Court. 
The White House is also ramping up efforts to stop migrants in their tracks. 
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin on Wednesday laid out a timeline for the completion of the U.S.-Mexico border wall. 
In a House Homeland Security Committee hearing, Mullin said DHS is on track to have a primary border wall stretching from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of America completed by “this time next year.”
“On the border wall, first of all, we are on track to have the primary wall done, completed from the Pacific to the Gulf of America this time next year. We’ll have all contracts out by the end of this month. And we’re having great progress,” Mullin said. 
Mullin stressed that cartels have learned how to breach and cut sections of the border wall, forcing the need for a secondary barrier to reinforce the primary wall and deter illegal crossings. 
He predicted the second wall barrier would be completed by the summer of 2028.

Ten Republicans joined with Democratic House members on Thursday to pass a resolution that seeks to protect 350,000 Haitians from deportation.
The House resolution would require the secretary of Homeland Security to designate Haiti for temporary protected status until 2029. Republicans Don Bacon (NE), Mario Díaz-Balart (FL), Mike Carey (OH), Brian Fitzpatrick (PA), Carlos Giménez (FL), Mike Lawler (NY), Nicole Malliotakis (NY), Rich McCormick (GA), Maria Elvira Salazar (FL), and Mike Turner (OH), bucked President Donald Trump and his mass deportation effort and signed onto the resolution. Independent Rep. Kevin Kiley, who caucuses with the Republicans, also voted in favor of the resolution.
The Democrats broke out in cheers and applause when the resolution passed.
While President Donald Trump would likely veto the resolution if it made it to his desk, the vote reflects a divide in the Republican Party that is complicating the administration&#8217;s immigration agenda. The resolution&#8217;s passage also comes just one week after Homeland Security revealed that Rolbert Joachin, an illegal immigrant from Haiti accused of murdering a woman with a hammer, was granted temporary protected status by the Biden administration.
Joachin&#8217;s alleged murder was caught on camera, with footage showing the suspect charge a female gas station attendant in Fort Myers, Florida, before he attacks her. Last year, the Trump administration moved to terminate temporary protected status for Haitians, but the move was quickly blocked by a federal judge. The Supreme Court is expected to hear oral arguments on the issue this month after the Trump administration appealed the federal judge&#8217;s decision, NBC News <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/house-bucks-trump-passes-temporary-protected-status-haiti-immigration-rcna332181">reported</a>.

“Numerous Haitian nationals previously granted TPS have been the subject of administrative investigations for fraud, public safety, and national security,&#8221; the White House added.
Rep. Bacon <a href="https://x.com/RepDonBacon/status/2044549535985193241?s=20">argued</a> that deporting 350,000 Haitians would worsen &#8220;serious workforce shortages.&#8221;
&#8220;I’ve heard from healthcare providers and business leaders across Nebraska, including @OmahaChamber, who are concerned about the impact this would have on patient care and our economy. I don’t see the goodness of deporting people who are here legally, working, and contributing to our country,&#8221; Bacon said.
Malliotakis also cited concerns about the health care industry if Haitian migrants were deported.
“Look, I have a lot of health care workers in my district that are of Haitian descent, that are on TPS and my nursing homes,&#8221; she <a href="https://x.com/BillMelugin_/status/2044852771782828391">told</a> Fox News. &#8220;My health care facilities have said that they&#8217;re going to lose skilled staff at a time when there is a shortage. And so it&#8217;s the right thing to do for my district, for the health care facilities I represent.&#8221;
Rep. Lawler <a href="https://x.com/RepMikeLawler/status/2044766720162697580">added</a> that the deteriorating situation in Haiti would cause &#8220;chaos&#8221; and &#8220;uncertainty&#8221; for Haitian migrants if they were forced to go back to their home country. Lawler helped force the vote on the resolution and was joined by Democratic &#8220;Squad&#8221; member Ayanna Pressley (MA). The proposal was also sponsored by Florida Democratic Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, a Haitian-American who faces expulsion from the House for allegedly funneling millions of dollars into her campaign illegally.
The Trump administration has raised concerns about the large number of Haitian migrants in the United States. Trump highlighted reports on Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, during his 2024 election campaign, including on stage during a debate against then-Vice President Kamala Harris.

The White House came out swinging against a bill, backed by several Republicans, that would prohibit the deportation of Haitian nationals living in the United States, according to a memo first obtained by The Daily Wire. 
The Office of Management and Budget said Wednesday that the Trump administration “strongly opposes” a <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/1689">bill</a> sponsored by eight congressional Democrats and New York Republican Rep. Mike Lawler that would expand Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians until 2029. The move from the White House comes as the House is expected to vote soon on the measure after four Republicans joined Democrats to force a vote.
“Across several Executive Orders and Proclamations, the President has made it clear that this Administration’s priority is protecting the American people and addressing the criminal threat posed by those who enter this nation with little to no vetting or overstay the visa granted them,” the White House said Wednesday. “Numerous Haitian nationals previously granted TPS have been the subject of administrative investigations for fraud, public safety, and national security.”
Last week, the Department of Homeland Security <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2026/04/07/haitian-illegal-alien-violently-kills-innocent-mother-repeatedly-hitting-her-hammer">announced</a> that Rolbert Joachin, an illegal immigrant from Haiti accused of murdering a woman with a hammer, was granted TPS by the Biden administration.
In March, Lawler and three other Republicans <a href="https://clerk.house.gov/DischargePetition/2026012215?Page=2">backed</a> a discharge petition from Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) to force a vote on the proposal. The other Republicans who joined the discharge petition included Reps. Don Bacon (NE), Maria Salazar (FL), and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA). The Daily Wire reached out to their offices for comment on the president’s opposition to the measure. 
Bacon said he opposed removing TPS status because it would impact the healthcare industry.
“Removing the TPS status would cost 350,000 healthcare workers their ability to work at a time when we’re already facing serious workforce shortages,&#8221; Bacon told The Daily Wire.&#8221;I’ve heard from healthcare providers and business leaders across Nebraska who are concerned about the impact this would have on patient care and our economy. I don’t see the goodness of deporting people who are here legally, who are working, and who contribute to our country.”
Democrat sponsors of the proposal include Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, a Florida Democrat and Haitian-American facing expulsion from the House for allegedly funneled millions of dollars into her campaign illegally.
Should the bill pass, the White House said that President Donald Trump would be advised to veto the legislation.
Former Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem directed TPS status for Haitians to be terminated on February 3, 2026, saying the conditions for giving Haitians specially protected status from deportation were no longer met. 
Judges have so far blocked efforts to revoke TPS, and DHS said it is working with the Justice Department to “determine next steps.”
Lawler and about two dozen other House Republicans recently faced criticism from conservative lawmakers over their support for Salazar’s “DIGNIDAD Act,” which would provide legal status without a way to get citizenship for those in the country illegally before 2021. Critics say the measure would be de facto amnesty and would significantly curtail efforts to deport illegal immigrants.

President Donald Trump earlier this month announced ban on travel from a dozen countries and partial restrictions from seven more in an effort to protect the United States from terrorist and public safety threats.
The ban fully restricts or limits the entry of nationals from 12 countries “found to be deficient with regards to screening and vetting and determined to pose a very high risk to the United States” including Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.
Seven countries will face partial travel restrictions, including Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela. The White House says the order makes exceptions for lawful permanent residents, people with existing visas, certain visa types, and anyone whose entry would support American national interests.
According to the White House, the goal of the ban is to pressure foreign governments to cooperate on security, help enforce United States immigration laws, and support key national security and counterterrorism priorities.
The restrictions follow a January executive order in which national security agencies were told to assess the security risks of various countries. That review led to the current list.

Afghanistan
Taliban-controlled Afghanistan lacks a reliable government to issue valid passports and civil documents and does not have adequate screening and vetting measures, according to the Trump administration. Furthermore, Afghanistan has a business/tourist (B1/B2) visa overstay rate of nearly 10% and a student (F), vocational (M), and exchange visitor (J) visa overstay rate of nearly 30%.
Burma
Burma has extremely high visa overstay rates — over 27% for tourist/business visas (B1/B2) and more than 42% for student (F), vocational (M), and exchange visitor (J) visas. Burma has also refused to take back its citizens who are ordered to be deported from the U.S. The government added that Burma has “historically not cooperated with the United States to accept back their removable nationals.”

Chad has one of the worst visa overstay rates, with nearly 50% for business/tourist (B1/B2) visas and over 55% for student (F), vocational (M), and exchange (J) visas in 2023. In 2022, the B1/B2 overstay rate was also high at 37.12%. The U.S. says these numbers indicate “a blatant disregard for U.S. immigration laws.”
Republic of the Congo
The Republic of the Congo, which has been embroiled in conflict for more than 30 years, also has a visa overstay issue with a business/tourist (B1/B2) visa overstay rate of almost 30% and student (F) visas, vocational (M) visas, and exchange visitor (J) visas, overstay rate of about 35%.
Equatorial Guinea
Equatorial Guinea, located in central Africa, had a business/tourist (B1/B2) overstay rate of 21.98% and student (F) visas, vocational (M) visas, and exchange visitor (J) visa overstay rate of 70.18%.
Eritrea
The United States questions the competence of the central authority for issuance of passports or civil documents in Eritrea, and says it does not have access to criminal records for Eritrean nationals. The east African country has also historically refused to accept back its deported citizens. Its tourist/business (B1/B2) visa overstay rate is about 20% and student (F) visas, vocational (M) visas, and exchange visitor (J) visa overstay rate is about 55%.
Haiti
Currently overrun by murderous gangs, Haiti had hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens flood into the United States during the Biden administration. According to the Trump administration the “influx harms American communities by creating acute risks of increased overstay rates, establishment of criminal networks, and other national security threats.” Haiti also lacks “a central authority with sufficient availability and dissemination of law enforcement information necessary to ensure its nationals do not undermine the national security of the United States.” Haiti had a tourist/business (B1/B2) visa overstay rate of 31.38% and a student (F) visa, vocational (M) visas, and exchange visitor (J) visa overstay rate of about 25.05%.
Iran
Iran, a leading state sponsor of terrorism, routinely fails to cooperate with the United States government in identifying security risks and has historically failed to accept back its nationals eligible for deportation.

Somalia also lacks a competent or cooperative central authority for issuing passports or civil documents, does not have appropriate screening and vetting measures, and has historically refused to take back its nationals eligible for deportation. The Trump administration says Somalia differs from the other countries due to its government lacking command and control of its territory, “which greatly limits the effectiveness of its national capabilities in a variety of respects.” Somalia is also a “terrorist safe haven” where radicals travel to join terrorist groups that pose a threat to the United States.
Sudan
Sudan, located in northern Africa, lacks a competent or cooperative central authority for issuing passports or civil documents and lacks appropriate screening and vetting measures. Sudan had a business/tourist (B1/B2) visa overstay rate of 26.30% and a student (F) visa, vocational (M) visas, and exchange visitor (J) visa overstay rate of about 28.40%.
Yemen
Yemen, which is currently overrun by the U.S.-designated terror group, the Houthis, lacks a competent or cooperative central authority for issuing passports or civil documents and it does not have appropriate screening and vetting measures. A federal judge on Monday blocked the Trump administration from ending a Biden-era program that provided legal status to hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. 
U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani said that the Trump administration could not end former President Joe Biden’s CHNV (Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela) immigration parole program without granting a case-by-case review to its more than 500,000 recipients. In her decision, Talwani sided with a number of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-tells-hundreds-of-thousands-of-biden-paroled-aliens-in-u-s-to-leave" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CHNV recipients</a> who had sued the Trump administration over the decision to end the program early on April 24.  
“The immediate impact of the shortening of their grant of parole is to cause their lawful status in the United States to lapse early — in less than two weeks. If their parole status is allowed to lapse, Plaintiffs will be faced with two unfavorable options: continue following the law and leave the country on their own, or await removal proceedings,” Talwani, an Obama appointee, wrote in a 41-page ruling. 
Talwani said that the Trump administration hadn’t considered humanitarian reasons when it moved to end the program. 
Biden began the program first for Venezuelans in 2022 before expanding it to include the other three countries in 2023. Each month, this allowed tens of thousands of people from each country to obtain legal protections in the United States, known as immigration parole. The Biden administration billed the program as a way to decrease illegal immigration from the CHNV countries by creating “legal pathways” for those immigrants to use instead of trying to unlawfully cross the southern border. 
Each recipient was supposed to be vetted for national security purposes and had to prove they had a financial sponsor already in the United States. The Trump administration has argued that the Biden administration poorly vetted those it allowed into the country. Some data from the program showed evidence of fraud, as <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/investigations/biden-admin-may-restart-immigration-program-paused-for-possible-fraud-rcna168440" target="_blank" rel="noopener">one review</a> found that 3,218 people applied to sponsor around 101,000 migrants. 
President Donald Trump directed the program to be shut down, and the Department of Homeland Security published a <a href="https://public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2025-05128.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">notice</a> in the Federal Register on March 25 revealing its decision to terminate the program by April 24. 
“These programs do not serve a significant public benefit, are not necessary to reduce levels of illegal immigration, did not sufficiently mitigate the domestic effects of illegal immigration, are not serving their intended purposes, and are inconsistent with the Administration’s foreign policy goals,” DHS said in its notice. 
The department added that it planned to remove individuals from the program after the April 24 expiration and encouraged recipients to voluntarily leave the country before that deadline.

The earthquake struck midway between Georgetown in the Cayman Islands and Honduras, according to the <a href="https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us7000pcdl/executive?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=realtime" target="_blank" rel="noopener">U.S. Geological Survey</a>. The tremors hit at a depth of roughly six miles.
The quake caused a threat warning for potential tsunamis across a slate of countries in and around the Caribbean Sea. The warnings did not reach the U.S. mainland, though advisories were issued for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, according to <a href="https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/cayman-islands-earthquake/1743000" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AccuWeather</a>.
No damage was reported from the earthquake, the epicenter of which was about 100 miles southwest of George Town, according to <a href="https://www.foxweather.com/extreme-weather/major-earthquake-shakes-caribbean-islands-watching-tsunami-potential" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox Weather</a>. Light shaking may have been felt in areas across the region, however. Authorities warned that waves generated by the quake may pose a threat to boats and beachgoers.

While earthquakes are common, tsunamis from earthquakes are rare in the Caribbean, with only ten having been recorded in the region during the past five centuries, according to the <a href="https://uwiseismic.com/tsunamis/caribbean-tsunamis/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of the West Indies</a>.
Earthquakes have caused at times severe damage, such as the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that rocked Haiti in 2021. In 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti and <a href="https://news.un.org/en/story/2022/01/1109632" target="_blank" rel="noopener">killed</a> an estimated 220,000 people.

Those arrested came from a large array of countries, including Afghanistan, Angola, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Senegal, and Venezuela, Fox reported. The illegal immigrants were arrested across the country, including in California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, and Utah.
In addition to the arrests, ICE issued more than 420 detainers – a request from ICE to be notified when an illegal immigrant is released from custody. In the past, these detainers have often been ignored by “sanctuary cities” who announce they will defy federal law and protect illegal immigrants from deportation.

But Springfield is not the only town struggling with a sudden influx of Haitian migrants.
Charleroi, a small town in Pennsylvania, has seen a <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/news/charleroi-school-district-immigrant-students/#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2000% increase</a> in its immigration population in the past two years, with the majority coming from Haiti. The small town had a population of about 4,200 in 2022, before the sudden influx. Charleroi&#8217;s population has since <a href="https://www.monvalleyindependent.com/2024/09/12/charleroi-approves-73k-increase-in-police-force-budget/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">doubled</a>, according to Charleroi Council President Kristin Hopkins-Calcek.
Residents are noticing similar problems as Springfield citizens. For one, driving in the area has become increasingly hazardous.
&#8220;The immigrants now have been issued driver&#8217;s licenses but do not know how to read the traffic signs, causing numerous traffic accidents in the borough,&#8221; one long-time resident told The Daily Wire. &#8220;And I stress numerous, just about every week you hear about another causing injury or property damage.&#8221;
&#8220;Cars are going the wrong way and there are wrecks at least once a week,&#8221; another resident said during a City Council meeting, <a href="https://www.monvalleyindependent.com/2024/09/10/car-crashes-becoming-concern-in-charleroi-20240910-0740-592927/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Mon Valley Independent</a> reported this week. &#8220;Three very bad accidents in less than one month. Something needs to be done before somebody is killed.&#8221;

One resident questioned how immigrants are so easily getting driver&#8217;s licenses. In Pennsylvania, immigrants with Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, <a href="https://www.dmv.pa.gov/REALID/Pages/REAL-ID-Non-U.S.Citizens.aspx#:~:text=If%20you%20are%20a%20lawfully,must%20reflect%20your%20current%20name." target="_blank" rel="noopener">are eligible</a> to apply for a driver&#8217;s licenses.
&#8220;We need to reach out to our legislature to make changes on the driving privileges of drivers brought to this area from other countries,&#8221; she <a href="https://www.monvalleyindependent.com/2024/09/10/car-crashes-becoming-concern-in-charleroi-20240910-0740-592927/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;It does not appear that any additional training or licensing is done before they&#8217;re given the privilege of driving a car. Something terrible is going to happen.&#8221;
Similar to Springfield, schools in the Charleroi area are over capacity and struggling to pay for resources and teachers who can teach English as a second language.
&#8220;The Charleroi School District is overwhelmed trying to teach and communicate with all the new students, with most not knowing how to speak English and taking away learning time from the rest of the kids,&#8221; the resident told The Daily Wire.
<a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/news/charleroi-school-district-immigrant-students/#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According</a> to a CBS report from March, the district had to hire additional ELL (English language learners) teachers, an ELL coach for the teachers, and an interpreter, which cost more than $400,000. An additional $300,000 was projected to be spent for the 2025 school year.
The town is also struggling to beef up law enforcement, due to both the sudden rise in immigrant population and an issue with police retention.
Charleroi has had to <a href="https://www.monvalleyindependent.com/2024/09/12/charleroi-approves-73k-increase-in-police-force-budget/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">increase</a> its police budget by $73,000, compared to last year, according to a report from The Mon Valley Independent published Thursday. Residents are worried the increase will spark higher taxes, despite assurances from the council that there won&#8217;t be a larger-than-expected tax increase next year.
“We want to keep the public safe. We are having issues we have never had before,&#8221; Council President Kristin Hopkins-Calcek said. &#8220;Our population has doubled and we have our police enforcing everything that citizens have demanded over time that they enforce.”
As highlighted by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-ohio-town-overrun-by-haitian-immigrants" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire</a>, the Biden-Harris administration this past June expanded temporary legal status to 300,000 Haitians, lasting until at least February 2026. This allows these migrants to remain and work in the U.S. until then, and possibly beyond. This was awarded to any Haitian in the U.S. who was here before or on June 3.
Biden also has a program that allows 30,000 migrants per month from Haiti, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to fly directly into the U.S. for two years if they have financial sponsors.

Ohio Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mike-dewine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mike DeWine</a> (R) is sending law enforcement and millions of dollars to Springfield, Ohio, after residents&#8217; public grievances about the influx of 20,000 Haitian migrants to their community garnered national attention.
DeWine said Tuesday that state troopers will be sent to help address the growing reckless driving issue, largely sparked by the migrant influx. He&#8217;ll also be dedicating $2.5 million toward health care. Wait times for health care have significantly increased for residents due to the migrants.
&#8220;I want the people of Springfield and Clark County to know that as we move forward, we will continue to do everything we can to help the community deal with this surge of migrants,&#8221; DeWine <a href="https://governor.ohio.gov/media/news-and-media/governor-dewine-announces-healthcare-public-safety-support-for-springfield-and-clark-county" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;The federal government has not demonstrated that they have any kind of plan to deal with the issue. We will not walk away.&#8221;
&#8220;The influx of Haitians to Springfield and Clark County has significantly impacted local primary care providers due to the increased number of patients and the need for more translation services,&#8221; a press release from the governor&#8217;s office said. &#8220;In general, migrants from Haiti have had little to no healthcare services prior to arriving in the United States, including vaccinations.&#8221;
&#8220;To address the increase in dangerous driving in Springfield by inexperienced Haitian drivers and all others who disregard traffic laws, Governor DeWine directed the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) to support the Springfield Police Department with traffic enforcement,&#8221; the press release noted. &#8220;Beginning [Thursday] morning, OSHP troopers will patrol local roads with the highest crash rates and hold accountable any driver who drives erratically and risks the safety of others.&#8221;

In addition to DeWine&#8217;s action, the state&#8217;s Republican Attorney General Dave Yost directed his office to research legal avenues to stop the federal government from sending “an unlimited number of migrants to Ohio communities.&#8221;

Numerous residents have said they witnessed “buses” of these migrants being dropped off at gas stations and laundromats.

Aiden Clark was killed in August 2023, when a Haitian immigrant, Hermanio Joseph, 36, crossed over the center dividing line and <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/03/us/springfield-ohio-school-bus-crash-haiti-immigrants.html">crashed</a> into a full school bus. The 11-year-old was ejected from the bus, which <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/03/us/springfield-ohio-school-bus-crash-haiti-immigrants.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">flipped over</a> and then landed on him. More than 20 children were taken to the hospital. Joseph is now facing nine years behind bars after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter. He was not licensed to drive in Ohio.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ohio" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ohio</a> Attorney General Dave Yost announced this week that he has directed officials to begin reviewing ways to stop the Biden-Harris administration from sending large numbers of migrants to communities in the state amid backlash that is brewing over tens of thousands of Haitian illegal aliens who have been brought to a small town in the state.
The move comes in response to Springfield, a town of less than 60,000 residents, being flooded with approximately 20,000 Haitian illegal aliens over the last few years, leading to a variety of problems and rapid deterioration of the town.
“This is absurd – Springfield has swollen by more than a third due to migrants,” Yost said. “How many people can they be expected to take? What are the limits to the federal government’s power? Could the federal government simply funnel into Ohio all the millions of migrants flooding in under the current administration’s watch?&#8221;
“There’s got to be a limiting principle,&#8221; he added. &#8220;We’re going to find a way to get this disaster in front of a federal judge.”
The explosion in illegal aliens coming to the town has devastated the abilities of the public and private entities in the town to provide for the U.S. citizens who live there, Yost&#8217;s office said.

“The problem is not migrants, it is way, way too many migrants in a short period of time,” Yost said. “The problem is a massive increase in the population without any communication or assistance from the federal government.”
His office noted that local residents have complained about the illegal aliens &#8220;causing car crashes, stealing property – including livestock, squatting in homes and killing wildlife for food.&#8221;
He said that the Biden-Harris administration&#8217;s wide-open border policies were devastating the state and quickly ruining the quality of life for the people who live there.
“Ohio is a great place to work and live,” Yost said. “But overwhelming our small towns with massive migrant populations without any coordination or assistance from the federal government is changing that in front of our eyes.”
At a recent city council meeting, numerous local residents have complained that the Haitians are ruining the town and that people are beginning to fear for their safety because of how dangerous they are.
&#8220;These Haitians are running into trash cans. They&#8217;re running into buildings,&#8221; one resident <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/ohio-residents-small-town-erupt-over-havoc-caused-massive-influx-20000-haitians" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;They&#8217;re flipping cars in the middle of the street, and I don&#8217;t know how, like, y&#8217;all can be comfortable with this.&#8221;
Other residents said the illegal aliens are setting up camp grounds, screaming at residents, and throwing trash on their property.
&#8220;It is so unsafe,&#8221; one resident said. &#8220;Look at me, I weigh 95 pounds. I couldn&#8217;t defend myself if I had to ‘pack up and move.'&#8221;
&#8220;It&#8217;s killing both of us mentally,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;I don&#8217;t understand what you expect of us as citizens. … Who&#8217;s protecting me? I want out of this town. I am sorry. Please give me a reason to stay.&#8221;
