House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) drew an audience of dozens to his recent livestream event, which featured a handful of Democrats complaining about — and blaming Republicans for — the government shutdown triggered by Democrat demands.
Jeffries named the event “Stop the Republican Shutdown,” went live prior to the shutdown, and stayed online after it took effect. As people checked in on him throughout the livestream, several noticed that the number of people streaming struggled to approach 200 — well below even the numbers late-night comedian <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jimmy-kimmels-ratings-spike-crashes-back-down-to-his-usual-terrible-numbers">Jimmy Kimmel</a> has generated since returning from suspension over his comments about assassinated conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
“Currently 152 people watching Hakeem Jeffries ’24 hour shutdown livestream’ on YouTube,” GOP communications strategist Matt Whitlock commented, sharing a screenshot that showed the number of live viewers (152) as Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) spoke.

Even <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/10/01/democrats-shutdown-livestream-00591178">Politico</a> jabbed at the debacle, with reporter Adam Wren noting that he’d watched much of the stream “so you didn&#8217;t have to,” and then laying out a series of missteps made by Democrats trying to win the messaging war over the shutdown.
“In launching the livestream, which featured the feel of a throwback telethon with none of the charisma or surprise, Jeffries and his allies seemed to tacitly acknowledge that they needed to be fighting, and sounding and looking as if they were. (‘Y’all, I ain’t scared,’ Jeffries said at one point. ‘I’m from Brooklyn.&#8217;) But few Dems seemed willing to fight on camera,” he wrote.
Wren noted that while Jeffries himself appeared — as did Swalwell and a few others — most of the party’s more prominent voices had not. In addition to the glaring absence of progressives like Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), there was a very noticeable chunk of the broadcast filled with rerun content rather than live conversation. According to Wren, despite an internal email <a href="https://x.com/reesejgorman/status/1973076184134009181">begging Democrats</a> to rally and fill the empty time slots, no one was available between 2:30 and 5:30 a.m.
A spokesperson for Jeffries claimed in a statement that the total viewership for the event was significantly higher, stating that there had been approximately 60,000 viewers across several streams and that “clips from the livestream are continuing to also generate hundreds of thousands of views and we still have more coming.”

During a fiery showdown on Wednesday, FBI Director Kash Patel pushed back against repeated taunts from Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), declaring he would “call bulls*** on your entire career in Congress.”
Despite the fact that Patel, as FBI Director, has a massive job supervising and keeping the country safe, Swalwell began by maligning Patel because Patel said he had not read all of the voluminous Epstein files. Patel pointed out, “What I’ve been doing is been busy providing the safest country this country has seen in modern U.S. history in historic speed because the men and women of the FBI are given the resources to reduce the homicide rate, to reduce the drug trafficking rate, to reduce the amount of children that have been trafficked&#8230;”
Swalwell then obsessed on the number of times President Donald Trump’s name might have been mentioned in the Epstein files, speculating hyperbolically, starting with 1000, 500, and finally 100, which Patel denied. When Swalwell claimed that it was Patel’s job to know the exact number, Patel fired back. “My job is to provide for the safety and security of this country. My job is not to engage in political innuendo, so you can go out to the sticks and get your 20-second hits and your fundraising article,” adding, “Your fixation on this matter and baseless accusations that I’m hiding child pedo files is disgusting.”
Swalwell still wouldn’t let go of the issue, asking repeatedly if Patel had told Attorney General Pam Bondi that Trump’s name was in the Epstein files, even insulting Patel by saying each word slowly in separate syllables, as if he were speaking to a child. Patel replied, “Why don’t you try spelling it out. Use the alphabet. A B C D E F, don’t want to do it?”
“You&#8217;ve played this cute shell game where you say you can&#8217;t release everything because the court has said that it legally is not allowed to be released, but the court calls bulls***,” Swalwell accused.
Finally, Swalwell moved on, saying, “Let&#8217;s move on, director. You wrote a book called ‘Government Gangsters.’ You identified 20 individuals in that book. You put me on that list, at the top of the list. Thank you. My children find it flattering. Twenty of those individuals have been investigated or have had adverse actions. Director, considering that you have identified these people as, ‘government gangsters,’ will you recuse yourself from making any investigation decisions about these individuals?”
“Anyone that has been terminated at the FBI has been done because they failed to meet the muster and their constitutional obligation,” Patel fired back. “No, no. I&#8217;m going to borrow your terminology and call bulls*** on your entire career in Congress. It has been a disgrace to the American people.”

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro took time during <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-2002-member-exclusive" target="_blank" rel="noopener">his show</a> on Thursday to rehash moments from his viral exchange with Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) in a Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday morning.
Shapiro was invited by the Republican-led committee to testify on the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) and alleged coordination between the media and the White House to silence conservative news outlets, including The Daily Wire. After delivering a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ben-shapiro-delivers-blistering-opening-statement-to-congress-on-cartel-silencing-conservatives?topStoryPosition=2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blistering opening statement</a> on the &#8220;cartel&#8221; targeting conservative voices, Shapiro faced questions from multiple Democrats, including Swalwell, who tried to derail the hearing.
&#8220;The Democrats have been trying for the last week or so to try to misdirect away from the fact that their president is no longer sentient by shouting &#8216;Project 2025,'&#8221; Shapiro said.
&#8220;So yesterday at the hearing, I would say about half of the Democrats in the House Judiciary Committee decided to rail about Project 2025, which has literally nothing to do with the subject of this particular committee hearing,&#8221; he added. &#8220;One of the people who is doing that was Representative Eric Swalwell, who I think just wanted to have a Twitter battle, but in real life.&#8221;
During the exchange, Swalwell asked Shapiro if he supports Project 2025 to which Shapiro responded, “I think like President Trump, I haven’t looked all that deeply at Project 2025, but it seems that Democrats on this committee [think that] — sort of like Peter Pan and Tinkerbell — if they say Project 2025 enough, their presidential candidate becomes alive again.”
The clip of Shapiro&#8217;s response quickly went viral on social media with many conservatives praising the Daily Wire host for how he handled Swalwell&#8217;s off-topic questioning.
&#8220;They all know what I&#8217;m saying is true,&#8221; Shapiro said on his show, referring to Congressional Democrats. &#8220;This is an attempt to breathe life back into a failing candidacy. Even Swalwell had to laugh at it because, again, [it&#8217;s] true.&#8221;

Despite Shapiro&#8217;s quick putdown of Swalewell during the hearing, the Democratic congressman continued to use his time to ask Shapiro about Project 2025 and policies unrelated to the censorship of conservatives, on which the Daily Wire host was at the hearing to testify.
&#8220;What he&#8217;s really questioning me about, I assume, is just being a conservative,&#8221; Shapiro added. &#8220;And the idea is that being a conservative is just evil. I don&#8217;t think it went particularly well for Representative Swalwell here.&#8221;
Swalwell also brought up a past statement from Shapiro on same-sex marriage and sexual activity, and bizarrely congratulated Shapiro for &#8220;restrain[ing]&#8221; himself against a desire to sleep with women. Swalwell is widely known for reportedly getting romantically involved with a suspected Chinese spy named Fang Fang.
&#8220;I would&#8217;ve jumped in at this point and said that Eric Swalwell is probably the last person in America who should talk about the difficulty of struggling with, for example, men as a genetic matter wanting to sleep with many women,&#8221; Shapiro said. &#8220;Eric Swalwell&#8217;s personal history is quite checkered. I decided not to bring that up in a Congressional hearing.&#8221;
&#8220;So it didn&#8217;t go amazing for Representative Swalwell,&#8221; he added. &#8220;And we hope he gets well soon.&#8221;

“The country in the last couple of weeks has talked about, googled Project 2025 … and you’re not going to get any censorship from me, so I just wanted to know from your perspective, I think it would help us understand, on just like a scale of 0-100 percent, how much do you support Project 2025?” Swalwell asked.
“I think like President Trump, I haven’t looked all that deeply at Project 2025,” Shapiro replied. “But it seems that Democrats on this committee [think that] — sort of like Peter Pan and Tinkerbell — if they say Project 2025 enough, their presidential candidate becomes alive again.”
Swalwell — who is best known for reportedly engaging in a romantic relationship with a suspected Chinese spy named Fang Fang — continued to pepper Shapiro with policy questions on issues such as immigration, abortion, and social security. The Daily Wire editor emeritus promptly answered Swalwell&#8217;s questions while asking the congressman why they were relevant to the topic of the hearing. The congressman then brought out a poster that displayed a 2018 quote of Shapiro calling homosexual activity “a sin.”

Shapiro <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ben-shapiro-delivers-blistering-opening-statement-to-congress-on-cartel-silencing-conservatives?topStoryPosition=2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">testified</a> shortly after the Republican-led committee released a report on Wednesday morning accusing the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) of strategizing to censor conservative content, including from The Daily Wire.
At one point during the hearing, Swalwell pushed to turn the attention away from GARM and onto Shapiro&#8217;s religious and political beliefs, asking the Daily Wire host if he supports Project 2025, a proposed set of presidential transition policies put forward by the Heritage Foundation that the Left has recently focused on to paint former President Donald Trump and conservatives as extremists.
&#8220;Mr. Shapiro, thank you for joining us today. I think it is important that you&#8217;re here as one of the leading conservative voices in the country,&#8221; Swalwell said. &#8220;And the country in the last couple of weeks has talked about, googled Project 2025 &#8230; and you&#8217;re not going to get any censorship from me, so I just wanted to know from your perspective, I think it would help us understand, on just like a scale of 0-100 percent, how much do you support Project 2025?&#8221;
&#8220;I think like President Trump, I haven&#8217;t looked all that deeply at Project 2025,&#8221; Shapiro replied. &#8220;But it seems that Democrats on this committee [think that] — sort of like Peter Pan and Tinkerbell — if they say Project 2025 enough, their presidential candidate becomes alive again.&#8221;

Swalwell, who was reportedly involved in a long-term romantic relationship with a suspected Chinese spy, went on to ask Shapiro where he stands on a range of issues, from deportation and immigration to abortion pills and same-sex marriage. Shapiro succinctly responded to the Democratic congressman&#8217;s policy questions and added, &#8220;I&#8217;m not sure why I&#8217;m testifying on immigration policy at this point.&#8221;
Swalwell also brought out a poster that displayed a 2018 quote of Shapiro calling homosexual activity &#8220;a sin.&#8221;
&#8220;Yes, I&#8217;m a religious Jew. You found me out,&#8221; Shapiro said. &#8220;I agree with me. Yes, that&#8217;s true.&#8221;

During Shapiro&#8217;s opening statement before the committee, he told lawmakers about a &#8220;cartel&#8221; acting to stamp out conservative voices through arbitrary standards.
“GARM purportedly sets ‘brand safety’ standards – objective standards by which advertisers and platforms can supposedly determine just what sort of content ought to be deemed ‘safe’ for advertising,” he said. “In reality, GARM acts as a cartel. Its members account for 90 percent of ad spending in the United States — almost $1 trillion. In other words, if you’re not getting ad dollars from GARM members, it’s nearly impossible to run an ad-based business.”

Joe Biden, or as he’s sometimes called &#8220;The Big Guy,&#8221; is, of course, the rhododendron currently running the free world on behalf of the Chinese, which is only fair since they&#8217;ve paid him a bundle in bribes. His Director of National Intelligence is Avril Haines, whose pronouns are “wang tsi co mao soy fang fang chu” and who served under CIA Director John Brennan, a communist, when the president was Barack Obama, an anti-American globalist. 
But not to worry, during her confirmation hearing, DNI Fang Fang reassured congress there were only some areas where she wanted to co-operate with the Chinese, like in collecting The Big Guy’s money and depositing it in one of his twenty shell companies so he has plausible deniability while he’s handing our border to Mexican cartels, who kill Americans with fentanyl, then launder their profits with the Chinese mafia inside the U.S.
 What was I talking about? Oh, yeah.
According to The Daily Wire’s crack investigative reporter Spencer Crack, DNI Fang Fang’s office puts out a newsletter called The Dive — DIVE — which guides the FBI, CIA and NSA on matters of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion — DEI — so that our intelligence officers can better keep America free for the untraceable banking of Chinese bribes.

Now, the Daily Wire’s crack reporter Crack has also obtained secret files that describe a real-life incident in which DNI’s DEI DIVE helped CIA, FBI and NSA perform their duties.
Recently one of our top CIA Agents, Wong Fu Chi, received a warning that a young Iranian man was about to blow himself up on Wall Street while shouting &#8220;Allahu Akbar!&#8221;, thereby potentially damaging our banking system and preventing President Big Guy from collecting his money from China and secreting it in one of his twenty shell companies. Though it was the dead of night, Agent Wong quickly called DNI Fang Fang where she was sleeping at Congressman Eric Swalwell’s house to report that The Big Guy’s cash was facing a jihadist threat. DNI Fang Fang immediately dropped her riding crop, leapt out of bed and instructed Agent Wong that he should re-file his report after first removing the word “jihadist” which might offend some Muslim-Americans. Dutifully starting over, Agent Wong then said, “A young man from a foreign nation that intends to destroy the world in order to hasten the arrival of the Twelfth Imam or, sorry, I should just say the Twelfth Non-denominational Clergyman named Mohammed al-Mahdi or maybe just Bob al-Mahdi or let’s just call him Pastor Bob…” Unfortunately, at this point, Agent Wong’s report was interrupted by a shout of &#8220;Allahu Akbar!&#8221; followed by a tremendous explosion.
In another helpful edition of the DNI’s DEI DIVE to FBI, CIA and NSA, the newsletter tells the touching story of an American intelligence officer who says — and as God is my witness this is a real quote from the DNI newsletter: “I am an intelligence officer, and I am a man who likes to wear women’s clothes sometimes. My gender identity and expression make me a better intelligence officer.”
The officer goes on to explain that cross-dressing not only makes his intelligence work more incisive but also more becoming in a pink chiffon mini sundress with a naughty but nice sweetheart neckline that’s simply perfect for reporting on young foreign-born males who want to hasten the coming of the twelfth non-denominational clergyman Pastor Bob…  But at this point, the article is interrupted by a shout of &#8220;Allahu Akbar!&#8221; followed by a tremendous explosion.
So, as you can see, we can all rest easy at night knowing that Congressman Swalwell’s mistress DNI Fang Fang has a cross-dressing Communist CIA Agent keeping watch to make sure no one uses offensive language while President Big Guy is being paid by China with the money they make laundering the profits Mexican gangsters collect for killing Americans.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) used up his time during a Tuesday hearing on Capitol Hill to lay out a case against former President Donald Trump — and then appeared to get frustrated when the witness, Special Counsel <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/robert-hur" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Robert Hur</a>, refused to help him do it.
Hur testified Tuesday on his investigation into President Joe Biden and his handling of the classified documents that were found in his possession — but instead of asking him about that, Swalwell behaved as though it was another Trump impeachment hearing and asked Hur to condemn the former president.

Swalwell began by addressing Hur&#8217;s personal history, saying that he had been &#8220;moved&#8221; by Hur&#8217;s parents&#8217; &#8220;immigrant story&#8221; — and within seconds, he had pivoted to attacking Trump, claiming that the former president would put an end to immigration if he had a second chance in the White House.
&#8220;It&#8217;s the story of America. It&#8217;s a story that the guy who appointed you would end if he was put in charge again,&#8221; Swalwell said, making no distinction between legal and illegal immigration, and adding that Republicans across the board were behind Trump on that issue.
Swalwell pivoted again, asking Hur whether he wanted his report on the Biden investigation &#8220;to be received with credibility&#8221; — and then immediately implied that in order for his report to be credible, Hur would have to disavow Trump.
&#8220;Since you were appointed, he was impeached for leveraging 350 U.S. — $350 million U.S. taxpayer dollars over Ukraine to get dirt on President Biden,&#8221; Swalwell said. &#8220;He was then impeached a second time for inciting an insurrection. He was charged for possessing classified documents and obstructing justice. He was charged for paying for the silence of a porn star. He was charged in Georgia for his role in January 6th. He was charged in the District of Columbia for his role in January 6th. He owes $400 million to the state of New York for defrauding the state through his taxes. And he has been judged a rapist.&#8221;

&#8220;Congressman, I am not here to testify about what will happen —&#8221; Hur pushed back, but Swalwell did not allow him to finish.
&#8220;Seems like an easy answer,&#8221; he interrupted. &#8220;Considering I just laid out —&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m here to talk about this report and the work that went into it,&#8221; Hur stated.
Swalwell tried one more time to get a condemnation from Hur: &#8220;You don&#8217;t want to be associated with that guy again, do you?&#8221;

Miller’s message to Swalwell said, “Almost time!!! Would you rather Guantanamo or just execution.” &#8220;F***in’ traitor.”

Swalwell joined MSNBC host Katie Phang on Saturday, and she fretted about the ongoing <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/dominion-sues-fox-news-for-1-6-billion-over-2020-election-coverage/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dominion</a> lawsuit and the &#8220;damage&#8221; she believed was being done by Fox News, asking whether Congress was ready to get involved.

A Republican lawmaker dared President Joe Biden to declassify an alleged report detailing the relationship between Rep. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/eric-swalwell" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Eric Swalwell</a> (D-CA) and suspected Chinese spy Fang Fang.
Rep. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jim-banks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jim Banks</a> (R-IN), who announced this month that he is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/indiana-gop-rep-jim-banks-announces-2024-run-for-mike-brauns-senate-seat" target="_blank" rel="noopener">running for Senate</a>, issued the challenge in response to the White House&#8217;s defense of Swalwell after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mccarthy-formally-kicks-schiff-and-swalwell-from-house-intel-integrity-matters-more" target="_blank" rel="noopener">removed Swalwell</a> from the House Intelligence Committee.
In a letter first <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2023/01/31/exclusive-banks-presses-biden-release-classified-swalwell-fang-fang-intelligence-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported by Breitbart</a> and obtained by The Daily Wire, Banks said for &#8220;unknown reasons&#8221; the White House disagrees with the assessment by McCarthy and other members of Congress that Swalwell&#8217;s past relationship with Fang poses a national security risk and disqualifies Swalwell from receiving access to highly classified information.
He cited <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/press-briefings/2023/01/25/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-karine-jean-pierre-and-national-security-council-coordinator-for-strategic-communications-john-kirby-5/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a recent press conference</a> in which White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked for a response to Swalwell and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) being kicked from the intelligence panel. In her response, Jean-Pierre said Swalwell and Schiff, as well as Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), &#8220;bring a lot to the table when it comes to foreign policy and national security.&#8221; The press secretary didn&#8217;t say much else beyond &#8220;it should be independent&#8221; before quickly dropping the topic.
To remedy any uncertainty, Banks proposed the disclosure of <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/07/26/exclusive-classified-report-biden-could-release-provides-intricate-detail-on-eric-swalwell-relationship-with-fang-fang/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an alleged report described by Breitbart in July 2021</a>. The news outlet said the U.S. intelligence community had a classified report that contained &#8220;intricate and intimate details&#8221; of Swalwell&#8217;s relationship with Fang, including &#8220;certain sexual acts they allegedly engaged in together.&#8221;
&#8220;If the White House’s position is correct and Rep. Swalwell’s past association with a Chinese spy does not preclude him from serving on the House Intelligence Committee, then the White House should immediately declassify its report on Rep. Swalwell,&#8221; Banks wrote. &#8220;If the report proves that, as the White House is suggesting, Rep. Swalwell’s relations with Fang Fang were innocuous and do not threaten our national security, then many House Republicans, including me, would support allowing Rep. Swalwell to serve on the House Intelligence Committee.&#8221;
The White House did not immediately return a request for comment on the letter, but such a disclosure is in all likelihood a longshot considering the level of secrecy surrounding the situation.
In 2020, Axios <a href="https://www.axios.com/2020/12/08/china-spy-california-politicians" target="_blank" rel="noopener">first broke the news</a> about Swalwell developing a connection between 2012 and 2015 with a Chinese national named Christine Fang or Fang Fang, who helped him with fundraising and placed at least one intern in his office. A U.S. intelligence official said the congressman stopped any contact with Fang upon being briefed by the FBI in 2015, and the report noted Fang left the country &#8220;unexpectedly&#8221; in the middle of an investigation in 2015. Immediately afterwards, McCarthy told reporters the briefing &#8220;only raised more questions. Such a view was echoed by Pelosi&#8217;s successor as leader of the House Democrats, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), who this month insisted both Schiff and Swalwell were “eminently qualified” to continue serving on the intelligence panel.

Swalwell, long ago, provided information about this person — whom he met more than eight years ago, and whom he hasn’t seen in nearly six years — to the FBI.
