Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said Thursday that he&#8217;s working on a plan to block heavily pregnant foreign women from entering the United States to prevent the abuse of birthright citizenship.
During a FOX News interview Thursday morning, Mullin shared that he&#8217;s working with the Justice Department and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to determine &#8220;how we can stop some of this birthright citizenship by saying maybe you shouldn’t come to the country if you are late into your third term.&#8221;
&#8220;We don’t allow sick individuals to come here if they are coming from an area that could possibly come in and spread a disease,&#8221; Mullin said. &#8220;There is precedent for us to look into saying it’s not safe for you to travel. I know my grandson was just recently born and her OB-GYN didn’t want her flying late into her third trimester.&#8221;
&#8220;So maybe we should be looking at this — they shouldn’t be coming in late into pregnancies because I think at that point, we could cut down a lot of this birthright citizenship too,&#8221; he added.
Mullin&#8217;s comments come after a federal judge on Wednesday blocked the Trump administration&#8217;s latest attempt at ending birthright citizenship.
In June, the Supreme Court ruled against President Donald Trump’s earlier executive order seeking to deny citizenship to the children born to noncitizens in the United States.
Following the high court&#8217;s ruling, Trump signed two executive orders, one aimed at curbing birth tourism and another seeking to prevent visa fraud for those intending to have babies on U.S. soil.
&#8220;The Supreme Court has spoken: Children in the certified class are &#8216;citizens at birth,'&#8221; Biden-appointed U.S. District Judge Deborah L. Boardman wrote in her ruling Wednesday.
The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) estimates that between 20,000 and 26,000 birth tourists enter the United States annually.
Dr. Wladimir Lorentz, the founder of a birthing center marketed to foreign nationals as &#8220;Have My Baby in Miami,&#8221; was subpoenaed to testify before Congress Tuesday, but invoked the Fifth Amendment and refused to answer questions.
Another birthing center, De’Ai Postpartum Care Center in Houston, is the subject of a state lawsuit in Texas for allegedly &#8220;exploiting birthright citizenship by unlawfully facilitating the invasion of Chinese nationals … for the sole purpose of giving birth.&#8221; The clinic claimed to have facilitated 1,000 births.
The Daily Wire previously visited the homes the clinic allegedly used to house pregnant Chinese women.
Earlier this year, Lone Star State officials opened an investigation into a hospital that placed <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hospital-placed-billboards-in-mexico-advertising-texas-birth-packages-prompting-birth-tourism-probe" target="_blank" rel="noopener">billboards in Mexico</a> advertising &#8220;birth packages in South Texas&#8221; as part of an alleged &#8220;birth tourism&#8221; scheme.
The billboards offered &#8220;birth packages&#8221; of up to $5,525 through a website named &#8220;havemybabyinTEXAS.com.&#8221; The webpage later quietly went offline, <a href="https://www.chron.com/news/article/birth-tourism-abbott-texas-billboard-22336058.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Chron.com.

Twenty-five years after the September 11 attacks, the United States still has not fully implemented one of the border-security reforms recommended by the 9/11 Commission.
That’s according to a bipartisan review released this week by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, which found that the Commission’s call for a biometric entry-exit screening system to be created “as quickly as possible” is still incomplete.
Air exit is considered nearly complete, according to the committee. Sea exit remains incomplete, as does biometric land exit at both the northern and southern borders. Even biometric exit at the southern border is listed as incomplete and relies in part on re-entry data.
The finding matters because the ability to determine whether a foreign traveler had actually left the United States was one of the problems exposed during the investigation into the 9/11 plot.
Nawaf al-Hazmi entered the United States in January 2000 after attending an al-Qaeda meeting in Kuala Lumpur with Khalid al-Mihdhar. Both men later lived in California. By August 2001, U.S. authorities had finally begun trying to locate them. On August 22, immigration officials told investigators that Mihdhar had entered the United States again on July 4. They also found no record showing that Hazmi had left after entering the country in January 2000.
Investigators assumed he had probably departed with Mihdhar the previous year. He had not.
Hazmi was still in the United States, and on September 11 he and Mihdhar hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 and crashed it into the Pentagon.
A Gap 9/11 Exposed
The 9/11 Commission later found that Hazmi had overstayed his authorized stay by nine months. Another hijacker, Satam al-Suqami, had overstayed by four months. Neither violation was detected or acted upon before the attacks.
The problem went well beyond two visa overstays. The Commission found that travel documents and travel patterns might have given authorities an opportunity to intercept between four and 15 of the 19 hijackers. Information existed across intelligence, immigration, and travel systems, but too often it was not connected or acted upon in time.
One of the Commission&#8217;s recommendations was straightforward: the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with support from Congress, should complete a biometric entry-exit screening system “as quickly as possible.” The goal was not simply to know who entered the country. It was to connect a person&#8217;s identity to travel records and know when that person left. That recommendation came in 2004.
Much of the system envisioned by the Commission has since been built. Biometric screening is now complete for air entry, sea entry, and pedestrian land entry, according to the House report. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) says facial biometrics are used for entry at all international airports and for international departures at 57 airports.
The technology can compare a traveler standing at a checkpoint or departure gate against government-held passport, visa, or previous-entry photographs. That provides something a name and passport number alone cannot: biometric confirmation that the person associated with the travel record is actually the person entering or leaving.
The system is already producing results. In an August 2026 final rule, DHS said facial biometric matching at exit had confirmed more than 516,000 overstays between June 2017 and October 2025. The same filing said CBP had intercepted more than 2,200 impostors using facial biometrics at airports and pedestrian land crossings.
Those numbers are not evidence that hundreds of thousands of terrorists are moving through the country, and they should not be treated that way. They do show why confirming identity and departure has value.
The question is why the system still does not cover every way someone can leave the United States.
Exit Is the Hard Part
The United States has never operated a comprehensive immigration exit-control system.
International travelers can leave through airline gates spread across an airport, while land borders create a much larger infrastructure problem. Thousands of vehicles can move toward Canada or Mexico each day, and collecting biometrics from the people inside them without creating major backups is very different from photographing someone standing at an airport inspection booth.
That helps explain the delay. It does not explain all of it. Congress first directed the federal government to create an automated entry-exit system in 1996, five years before the deadly terror attacks. The system Congress envisioned did not exist when Hazmi and Suqami overstayed their authorized stays, a point the 9/11 Commission later made explicitly.
Congress and successive administrations have returned to the issue repeatedly since then. New laws required integrated arrival and departure databases, biometric technology, and greater interoperability with law enforcement systems. In 2017, President Donald Trump directed DHS to expedite the biometric entry-exit system recommended by the 9/11 Commission.
A major change came last year. In October 2025, DHS finalized a rule allowing photographs to be required from noncitizens entering and departing the United States and removing earlier limits that had confined some biometric exit collection to pilot programs and specific ports. The rule took effect in December.
The legal authority, however, did not mean the system suddenly existed everywhere. In that same 2025 rule, CBP said it was still determining the best approach for biometric exit at sea and land borders, as well as for private aircraft. The agency had not completed cost-benefit analyses for several of those environments because it was still deciding how the systems would actually work.
CBP estimated that a biometric entry-exit system could be fully implemented at commercial airports and seaports within another three to five years. For vehicles and other land-border exits, the agency said it would continue studying and testing possible solutions.
That is where the timing becomes difficult to ignore. The entry-exit requirement began in 1996. The 9/11 Commission called for a biometric system in 2004. More than two decades later, CBP was still determining how parts of it should work.
Finishing the System
The House Intelligence Committee is now calling for a more complete approach. Its new report recommends that foreign nationals pass through control points when both entering and departing the United States. At land borders, the committee says the system should, as much as practical, direct departing foreign nationals through points where CBP can collect biometrics.
That would be a much bigger undertaking than adding more facial-recognition cameras at airport gates. Some land crossings would likely require changes in traffic patterns, infrastructure, and staffing. It would also require money.
DHS raised that issue again just weeks before the House report was released. In an August 2026 final rule dealing with the 9-11 Response and Biometric Entry-Exit Fee, the department said inadequate funding threatened both existing biometric operations and continued implementation of entry and exit programs. The statutory fee currently supporting part of that work is itself scheduled to expire in September 2027 unless Congress extends it.
That last part deserves attention because the next phase is not simply about collecting more photographs. A biometric system can confirm who someone is. It cannot tell a border officer that the person is connected to al-Qaeda, ISIS, a foreign intelligence service, or another threat unless the intelligence needed to make that connection has already been collected, shared, and entered into the systems used for screening.
The House Intelligence Committee makes that point directly. It warns that screening and vetting are heavily dependent on foreign intelligence collection. If information about a terrorist suspect does not exist in the relevant databases, even a perfectly functioning biometric system has very little to match against.
That is an important distinction. A completed biometric exit system would not have prevented 9/11 by itself. The attacks involved failures in intelligence collection, information sharing, watchlisting, and analysis that went far beyond immigration records. But the inability to reliably determine whether certain people were still inside the United States was one of those failures.
By August 2001, U.S. authorities had finally uncovered information showing that Hazmi had traveled to Los Angeles and that Mihdhar had recently returned to the United States. Both men were added to the TIPOFF watchlist on August 24. A lead was eventually sent to the FBI&#8217;s New York field office on August 28, but it was marked “Routine,” which gave the office 30 days to respond. The lead was sent just 14 days before September 11, and the search came far too late.
The United States has changed dramatically since then. Intelligence sharing improved, watchlisting expanded, aviation security was rebuilt, and border screening became far more sophisticated where those systems were actually implemented. The new House Intelligence Committee review credits those reforms with helping prevent another attack on the scale of 9/11 so far.
But its report also shows that one of the more basic recommendations remains unfinished. The government is far better today at knowing who enters the United States. The next step is finishing the system that tells us, with the same confidence, who left.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin was aboard a Coast Guard jet Wednesday when one of the aircraft&#8217;s engines failed, forcing pilots to make an emergency landing at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
The C-37A landed safely, and none of the people aboard were reported injured.
“The United States Coast Guard pilots made the single engine landing feel routine,” Mullin said in a <a href="https://x.com/SecMullinDHS/status/2095226936981103008">post on X</a>. “No panic, just straight professionalism. After we landed, the pilots told me that was a first for them! We could not have been in better hands.”
The pilot alerted air traffic controllers that the aircraft had lost its right engine and requested an immediate landing at Reagan National. 
“We just lost our right engine and would like to declare an emergency and immediate landing at DCA,” the pilot told the tower, according to an audio recording of the communication obtained by <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/coast-guard-plane-markwayne-mullin-emergency-landing/">CBS News</a>.
The pilot reported that 14 people were aboard and that the aircraft had approximately 2.5 hours of fuel remaining. Airports Authority Fire and Rescue personnel inspected the plane after it landed, and the airport said it then moved off the runway.
The cause of the engine failure was not immediately clear.
The C-37A is the military version of the Gulfstream V routinely used to transport the DHS secretary and other senior Coast Guard and department officials. It entered Coast Guard service in 2002.
<a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/05/16/fact-check-dhs-requests-replace-20-year-old-coast-guard-jet-safety">DHS warned</a> in 2025 that the aircraft was suffering from aging avionics and communications systems. Coast Guard officials have argued that the plane is approaching or has exceeded its useful service life and needs to be replaced.
The initial request for roughly $50 million for a replacement aircraft eventually grew into plans to acquire <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/aerospace-defense/dhs-purchase-business-jets-during-shutdown-draws-democrats-ire-2025-10-18/">two Gulfstream G700 aircraft</a> at an estimated cost of roughly $172 million. Government procurement documents described the existing C-37A as 23 years old and cited increasing obsolescence and maintenance costs.
The incident also comes as the <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/6028090-murray-demands-luxury-plane-details/">Senate Appropriations Committee is scrutinizing</a> DHS’s expanding aircraft fleet. In an August letter to Mullin, committee Vice Chair Patty Murray (D-WA) and Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) questioned the department’s acquisition of 12 aircraft, including five luxury jets used or being prepared for use by senior officials such as FBI Director Kash Patel and border czar Tom Homan. The senators argued that Congress never authorized DHS to purchase the aircraft and demanded records detailing the purchases, flight logs and costs associated with the planes.
For DHS however, Wednesday’s emergency adds another data point to the argument that the Coast Guard’s aging executive aircraft needs to be replaced, even as lawmakers continue to question the cost, necessity and manner in which the department is acquiring its newer jets.

An Oregon teenager accused of plotting to kill and behead Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents was sentenced Tuesday to three years of probation and 75 days in jail after pleading guilty to two counts of unlawfully manufacturing a destructive device. 
Rayden Tanner Coleman, 19, received credit for time already served. Columbia County Circuit Court Judge Michael T. Clarke also ordered him to continue receiving mental health treatment, undergo evaluations, surrender his seized weapons, and pay $550 in fines and fees. 

As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed 13 other charges, including first-degree attempted domestic terrorism, second-degree domestic terrorism, attempted assault, and multiple counts related to the possession and manufacture of destructive devices.
The Columbia County District Attorney’s Office did not respond to The Daily Wire’s request for an explanation of why prosecutors agreed to dismiss the terrorism charges and other counts as part of the plea deal.
Authorities accused Coleman of planning to attack federal immigration officers while attempting to recruit others into a separatist movement. According to <a href="https://www.kptv.com/2026/09/02/oregon-teen-who-built-bombs-plot-targeting-ice-gets-probation/">local reporting</a>, he wanted to establish a separatist state called “Cascadia” from which the next civil war would be fought and form a group called the “Cascadia Rangers.” 
<a href="https://www.chronline.com/stories/oregon-man-planned-to-kill-behead-ice-agents-use-separatist-outfit-to-start-civil-war,396271">Prosecutors alleged</a> that Coleman intended to kill and behead ICE agents and bring their severed heads to the Warm Springs Reservation as proof of his commitment to the cause and a way to attract recruits. Authorities began investigating Coleman after acquaintances — whom he attempted to recruit — reported that he had discussed killing ICE agents and using homemade bombs in an attack.
Police arrested Coleman in February after pulling him over during a traffic stop at the assisted living facility where he worked. Investigators searching his vehicle said they found glass bottles filled with sand, surveillance equipment, knives, and other materials that authorities said were connected to his plans to manufacture Molotov cocktails.
Coleman allegedly told investigators that he had been filling bottles with sand to practice throwing them accurately before turning them into incendiary devices. He also told police that he was purchasing an AR-15-style rifle from a local dealer through monthly payments. <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2026/02/11/american-citizen-who-penned-manifesto-kill-ice-law-enforcement-officers-arrested">According to the Department of Homeland Security</a>, the rifle was scheduled to arrive the day after his arrest. Coleman told investigators that if he had received the rifle, he would have carried out his threats.
DHS said in February that Coleman had authored a manifesto outlining plans to attack the Portland ICE office with Molotov cocktails and a firearm. 
“Now, we have an American citizen who planned to kill ICE officers with Molotov cocktails and gun them down,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said at the time.
Prosecutors previously notified the court that they intended to seek an enhanced sentence. Coleman had no previous criminal convictions in Oregon. 
Coleman admitted in his plea petition that he had “unlawfully and knowingly assembled, produced, or manufactured two destructive devices.”

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is preparing to spend up to $2 million on robotic dogs as the agency continues expanding its use of technology during President Donald Trump’s mass deportation campaign.
According to a Department of Homeland Security <a href="https://apfs-cloud.dhs.gov/record/75113/public-print/">funding document posted Thursday</a>, ICE could spend between $1 million and $2 million on Boston Dynamics’ “Spot” robotic dogs and related accessories.
The planned purchase comes just weeks after DHS approved up to $20 million for ICE to acquire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ice-agents-could-soon-be-wearing-electric-shock-gloves">electric shock gloves</a> that agents could use to subdue combative suspects during immigration enforcement operations.
A senior DHS official told <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigration/ice-buy-robot-dogs-immigration-enforcement-rcna594897">NBC News</a> that the robots will not be used to make arrests. Instead, ICE’s procurement notice says the machines are intended to provide agents with a remotely operated capability for “inspection, situational awareness, and hazard assessment” in areas that could pose risks to personnel.

The machines can also navigate difficult terrain and, depending on their configuration, use an extendable arm to interact with objects.
The robotic dog has already been adopted by other law enforcement agencies. Police departments in Los Angeles and New York have used the technology for various operations, while the U.S. Secret Service deployed Spot robots to help secure President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida in 2024. Boston Dynamics says its robots are not designed to be weapons. The company’s <a href="https://bostondynamics.com/ethics/">ethics policy</a> states that it will not authorize or partner with customers seeking to use its robots as weapons or autonomous targeting systems.
The increased tech spending corresponds with a sharp increase in violence against ICE agents during the Trump administration’s deportation push. DHS has said assaults against ICE personnel have increased by 1,300%, while vehicular attacks have increased by 3,300%. The new robotic dogs could provide agents with additional security by allowing them to inspect potentially dangerous locations without immediately putting a human officer inside.
The procurement document does not establish a firm timeline for deployment, and the government’s market research process does not necessarily guarantee that ICE will ultimately purchase the robots. But if the purchase moves forward, ICE agents could soon have a growing arsenal of specialized technology designed to help them assess dangerous situations, protect themselves and carry out the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement agenda.

The Trump administration is proposing a fee of more than $100,000 for companies looking to hire skilled foreign workers through the H-1B visa program, making it significantly more expensive for American employers to bring foreign workers into the country.
The Department of Homeland Security <a href="https://www.uscis.gov/newsroom/news-releases/dhs-proposes-additional-h-1b-fee">proposed</a> Monday that employers pay an additional $103,265 for every new H-1B petition subject to the program&#8217;s annual cap, including petitions for foreign workers who earned advanced degrees from U.S. universities. The charge would come on top of the other fees employers already pay when filing an H-1B visa. 
The administration argues that employers have abused the program to replace American workers with cheaper foreign labor and that the existing system does not sufficiently prioritize the most highly skilled workers. Under the proposed rule, the six-figure fee would apply to all H-1B petitions subject to the annual statutory cap, rather than primarily targeting workers seeking to enter the country from abroad. That distinction could have major consequences for American businesses. Many companies use H-1B visas to shift foreign students and workers legally present in the United States into long-term employment.
The H-1B program is capped at 85,000 new visas annually — 65,000 for the regular program and another 20,000 for workers with advanced degrees from U.S. institutions. Demand regularly far exceeds that number, forcing employers to compete in an annual lottery. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services <a href="https://x.com/USCIS/status/2057561453373399339">reported</a> it received more than 211,000 registrations for the most recent lottery. 
The administration estimates that the new fee would generate approximately $8.8 billion annually. Rather than limiting the money to the cost of processing H-1B applications, DHS says the revenue would help cover broader costs associated with administering the legal immigration system, including immigration courts, immigration enforcement, visa processing, and other federal immigration operations. 
The proposed rule would exempt employers whose H-1B petitions are not subject to the annual cap, including certain universities, nonprofit research organizations, and government research institutions. That provides an exemption for many hospitals and universities that rely on H-1B workers to fill medical and research positions. 
The proposal comes after Trump&#8217;s previous attempt to impose a $100,000 H-1B fee was <a href="https://www.npr.org/2026/06/09/nx-s1-5851474/federal-judge-fee-h1b-visa">struck down</a> by a federal judge in June. Judge Leo Sorokin ruled that the administration had effectively imposed an unauthorized tax without congressional approval. 
The Trump administration appealed the ruling, but the First Circuit declined to pause the decision while the appeal proceeds. 
The new proposal is an attempt to establish the fee through the federal regulatory process rather than through the presidential proclamation used last year. DHS is characterizing the $103,265 charge as a mechanism for recovering the federal government&#8217;s costs of administering the legal immigration system. 
The proposed rule says the fee would make employers &#8220;less likely to hire an H-1B worker over a qualified and highly-skilled American,&#8221; according to the <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/2026/08/24/trump-administration-proposes-103000-fee-h-1b-visas-after-legal-setback/">Washington Post</a>.
The proposal also comes as the administration considers additional restrictions on employment programs used by foreign graduates. The administration is also <a href="https://news.bloomberglaw.com/daily-labor-report/trump-weighs-100-000-fee-for-foreign-students-to-work-post-grad">considering</a> a $100,000 fee on Optional Practical Training, which allows international students to work in the United States after completing their studies.
The proposal has already drawn opposition from business and immigration groups, which argue that the H-1B program allows American companies to access specialized talent that is not always available domestically. India&#8217;s largest technology industry association, Nasscom, also <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/world-at-work/india-it-industry-body-urges-us-weigh-h-1b-visa-benefits-trump-proposes-hefty-2026-08-25/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">urged the administration</a> to consider the program&#8217;s role in addressing U.S. labor shortages. 
But the administration is betting that making foreign labor substantially more expensive will encourage companies to hire and train Americans instead. The proposal will now enter a 30-day public-comment period after its publication in the Federal Register. It could still be altered, withdrawn, or challenged in court before taking effect.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is set to spend up to $20 million on thousands of the gloves amid the Trump administration&#8217;s mass deportation campaign, according to a recent Department of Homeland Security (DHS) notice.
“It’s another device to help someone get compliant when they are not,” White House border czar Tom Homan said in a recent Fox News interview. “You can’t just go from 0 to 100, right, and the first thing you go for is lethal force.”
Opponents of ICE&#8217;s plan <a href="https://www.nilc.org/press/nilc-statement-on-ices-plan-to-buy-electric-shock-gloves/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">call</a> it &#8220;disgusting and barbaric.&#8221;
But Sahuarita&#8217;s police chief, John Noland, who oversees a force of 68 officers in the southern Arizona town and once approached ICE about using the gloves, says that could not be further from the truth.
When used &#8220;appropriately&#8221; and with the required training, &#8220;it is not inhumane,&#8221; Noland told The Daily Wire.
Noland himself has experienced the shocks roughly a dozen times during training exercises and said the electric jolt is only felt where the glove touches. He also said that the pain instantly disappears once contact ends.
&#8220;It hurts. It is so strange, the moment the glove is no longer applied to your skin, there is zero pain. It&#8217;s not as if I twisted your arm to the point of pain, and then I let go, I back off, and your arm still hurts. It is instantaneous,&#8221; he said.
Noland says the gloves are often more humane than a taser or a baton, his other options for controlling the unruly.
&#8220;I see it as a tool that might be overdue. I know that may not be a popular thing for those folks that are anti-ICE &#8230; But ICE is a law enforcement agency,&#8221; Noland said.
&#8220;In Arizona, we were the first law enforcement agency that does street work or patrol work to put them out. We&#8217;ve been successful with them,&#8221; he said.
It comes as ICE officers have experienced an uptick in violent attacks by both outside agitators and illegal immigrant targets.
Since President Donald Trump&#8217;s return to the White House, ICE agents have seen a 1,300% jump in assaults, along with a 3,200% increase in vehicular attacks, according to DHS.
Law enforcement officers across the country have used the technology, known as G.L.O.V.E., or Generated Low Output Voltage Emitter, to control violent suspects inside jails and in the field.
In order to use the gloves, law enforcement officers must complete a training course and get re-certified every two years, <a href="https://www.complianttechnologies.net/terms-and-conditions" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the company behind the gloves, Kentucky-based Compliant Technologies LLC.
&#8220;The skirmish lines that perhaps you have seen on different news channels and whatnot, over the last few years of our federal agents, Border Patrol, ICE agents, and others, DHS, all struggling with people out in the field, trying to get them to comply, now becomes less of a struggle. Now becomes a scenario where there are realistically going to be less injuries,&#8221; Noland said.
&#8220;I wish we had it at the beginning of my career. There would have been so many fights and struggles that would have been over in a matter of moments,&#8221; he said.
Officers wearing the gloves must press a button to activate them before putting them to use and can only deliver a shock when they touch another&#8217;s skin. The current can&#8217;t pass through clothing, hair, metal, plastic, or fur, according to Compliant Technologies.
&#8220;The plus behind the gloves are, as soon as I&#8217;m done grabbing you, the pain is off,&#8221; Noland said, adding that &#8220;people give up real quick, so that&#8217;s a plus for us. Less injuries on our end, less injuries on their end.&#8221;
The gloves each have a unique serial number that identifies the officer assigned to it. They also track when and how long a shock is administered.
The result is better accountability when officers are using force, Noland said.
&#8220;The gloves track when they&#8217;re actually utilized, similar to a taser. If I touch my t-shirt with it, it shows no application was ever given. Even though the glove is on. But if I touch my skin or somebody else&#8217;s skin &#8230; it gives the date, the time, and how long the application was that I touched somebody.&#8221;
&#8220;And each glove has a microprocessor in it. that says this particular glove, with this particular serial number, issued to John Noland, or Officer Smith, or Officer Jones, or Garcia, etc. was utilized on whatever date and time. And here&#8217;s how many times it was utilized. So those are also pluses for us, because it helps track use of force.&#8221;
Noland sees the value for ICE, saying it gives agents the ability to stop an escalating situation in its tracks more quickly and with less force.
&#8220;I could have one of my officers that weighs much less than me, much shorter than me, have a pair of these gloves on, and if they&#8217;re grabbing onto my arms, or my hands, or my wrists, etc., and they&#8217;re pulling me to the ground, I&#8217;m realistically going through the ground,&#8221; he said.

The man behind the federal government&#8217;s comprehensive immigration data recently resigned from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and his former colleagues believe it&#8217;s part of a push to reduce transparency.
Last month, Marc Rosenblum announced his departure on LinkedIn after serving for more than a decade as the department&#8217;s head statistician.
Trump administration officials blocked Rosenblum, who said he was leaving an &#8220;often hostile work environment,&#8221; from publishing monthly data, The Atlantic <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/2026/08/trump-dhs-deportation-data-ice/688220/?gift=SCYx-5scVta3-cr_IlgTyaEFRlkH1IOppDzGq2xcz9E" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> on Monday. The <a href="https://ohss.dhs.gov/topics/immigration/immigration-enforcement/monthly-tables" target="_blank" rel="noopener">data</a> that remains ends in 2024.
Trump officials continue to tout that they&#8217;re running &#8220;the most transparent Administration in history,&#8221; but the lack of timely immigration data has led even conservative immigration hawks to push back.
The Oversight Project, a nonprofit group advocating for a &#8220;mass deportation,&#8221; sued the Trump administration for failing to respond to outstanding Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for deportation data and has even floated that the public numbers are being inflated.
DHS says &#8220;more than 3 million illegal aliens have left&#8221; the country during &#8220;Trump&#8217;s first year back in office.&#8221; The department estimates that 2.2 million of them self-deported.
According to agency statistics, ICE carried out roughly 300,000 deportations in the first year of Trump&#8217;s latest term, falling short of his lofty goal of carrying out one million removals each year.
Rosenblum formed the Office of Homeland Security Statistics (OHSS) in 2023 with the support of officials across the political spectrum to provide more comprehensive numbers.
&#8220;I’m sad to suspend my career in public service and leave my amazing team,&#8221; Rosenblum wrote in his LinkedIn post. &#8220;My OHSS co-workers are outstanding career federal civil servants. They are smart, mission-focused experts who produce high-quality results in a challenging and often hostile work environment.&#8221;
&#8220;I’ve partnered with hundreds of other fabulous feds over the last decade. I worked side by side with strong, mission-driven contract teams,&#8221; he wrote.
The ex-DHS official went on to express concern with the Trump administration&#8217;s positions.
&#8220;But it will come as no surprise that I’m thrilled to end my relationship with the current administration. Between the war on immigrants, the war on feds, and the war on facts (not to mention the crazy war in Iran and the brazen corruption), I just need a change,&#8221; he said.
Two of Rosenblum&#8217;s former colleagues at DHS who served under the Biden administration told The Daily Wire that the statistician was devoted to the facts no matter how unfavorable they were to the president and his agenda. One of the ex-officials also said Rosenblum&#8217;s comprehensive data helped DHS identify areas where policy changes were necessary.
&#8220;If you don&#8217;t have a commitment to actually looking at data, then at the end of the day, you&#8217;re just gonna lose credibility, your decisions are gonna be based on just wins, and you&#8217;re not gonna be able to be successful. And if we&#8217;re gonna be actually transparent and accountable to the taxpayers you need data,&#8221; the ex-fed said.
The source continued: &#8220;And Marc was one of those people whose commitment was just to the work. I didn&#8217;t know what his political inclinations were at all the entire time I worked with him because many times the data that he wanted to publish didn&#8217;t look great for us (during the Biden administration).&#8221;
Another former Biden DHS official echoed that Rosenblum never showed any partisan leanings and was solely &#8220;a data guy.&#8221;
&#8220;He was able to get all the data points across the entire department and put them in an easy to understand platform. He can pull CBP [Customs and Border Protection] data to show that most of the fentanyl that was arriving into this country was coming from the northern border and talk about Coast Guard actions in the high seas, like apprehending Cubans and Haitians,&#8221; the ex-official said.
&#8220;He would also be able to determine which populations were being targeted by ERO [Enforcement and Removal Operations] and what rate. How many individual screenings at airports across the country. Just generally did the job of pulling all the data for department leaders, the White House, the press, and the public,&#8221; they added.
But it&#8217;s not just former Biden administration officials throwing support behind Rosenblum. His LinkedIn post also garnered a comment from Trump&#8217;s recently departed acting ICE director, Todd Lyons, who wrote that &#8220;it was great to work with you&#8221; while wishing him &#8220;luck with the next chapter!&#8221;
Rosenblum declined to comment on the reasoning for his departure.
In a statement to The Daily Wire, a DHS spokesperson said &#8220;people are always welcome to their opinion,&#8221; adding, &#8220;that doesn&#8217;t make it right or factual.&#8221;
&#8220;We will not comment on personal decisions,&#8221; the spokesperson said.

The suspect accused of shooting a Dallas Independent School District (ISD) police officer with the officer&#8217;s own gun is an illegal immigrant who crossed the border just four years ago, The Daily Wire has learned.
Jose Santiago Pantoja Morales allegedly grabbed Officer Justin Jones&#8217; gun during a struggle last week and shot the 39-year-old officer in the leg before fleeing. Morales was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault of a public servant, while Jones is expected to survive his injuries.
A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson confirmed to The Daily Wire that Morales is in the country illegally and said the Mexican national told authorities that he last entered the United States by crossing the border near Eagle Pass, Texas, four years ago.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) learned of Morales&#8217; arrest and lodged a detainer with local authorities on Friday, requesting that he be transferred to federal immigration custody following his release from local custody, the spokesperson said.
“The safest way to arrest and remove criminal illegal aliens from our streets is by lodging arrest detainers,&#8221; the DHS spokesperson told The Daily Wire. &#8220;ICE’s detainer requests are lawful and help safely transfer removable criminal aliens into federal custody.&#8221;
The shooting unfolded Thursday morning after Jones stopped to help Morales while the suspect was walking along a freeway.
Jones was flagged down around 10:39 a.m. by a man who identified himself as Morales&#8217; coworker and said Morales was walking down the freeway, according to CBS News. Jones found Morales walking on the freeway&#8217;s center median before driving him to a nearby Walmart.
Once in the store&#8217;s parking lot, Jones noticed Morales digging through his own work bag and pulling out items, CBS News reported. Jones then exited the vehicle and took one of the items from Morales before pulling him out of the back seat and trying to turn him to face the car.
The two engaged in a struggle on the ground, during which Morales allegedly grabbed Jones&#8217; gun and shot him in the leg, according to CBS News.
Morales fled the scene and was arrested roughly a mile away after allegedly trying to run from officers, according to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth. Officers observed blood on his boots and shirt when they located him.
The suspect admitted to grabbing Jones&#8217; gun and shooting him &#8220;so he could get away,&#8221; the outlet reported.
Morales was charged with aggravated assault of a public servant and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
&#8220;ICE will do everything in its power to detain and remove this criminal illegal alien from the Dallas community following the completion of his criminal proceedings,&#8221; the spokesperson said. “Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, criminal illegal aliens like Morales are not welcome in the United States.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents could soon take to the streets equipped with gloves that deliver painful electric shocks to combative arrest targets.
The federal government plans to spend up to $20 million on thousands of &#8220;conductive distraction and de-escalation devices&#8221; by March, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/ice-electric-shock-gloves-85ff746d3e0ee5f39e7a9a3f1f576252" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Associated Press and a Monday Department of Homeland Security (DHS) <a href="https://apfs-cloud.dhs.gov/record/74524/public-print/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">notice</a>.
The technology, known as G.L.O.V.E., or Generated Low Output Voltage Emitter, has been used by other law enforcement agencies across the country to control violent suspects inside jails and in the field.
It comes as sources within ICE have described an uptick in violence by the individuals they&#8217;re trying to arrest. Since the Trump administration commenced its mass deportation campaign, ICE agents have faced a 1,300% surge in assaults and a 3,300% increase in vehicular attacks, according to DHS.
One agency source told The Daily Wire the new technology could serve as a useful deterrent during arrests.
&#8220;I think if people knew we had those it would definitely keep people from pushing and getting in our faces,&#8221; the source said.
The company behind the product, Kentucky-based Compliant Technologies LLC, says the gloves are &#8220;not a weapon, but a device used to quickly distract with small uncomfortable electrical pulses&#8221; when making contact with skin.
&#8220;The discomfort associated with the stimulation is usually effective in bringing individuals into compliance in less than three seconds and leaves no burns, marks or scars,&#8221; Compliant Technologies states on its website.
&#8220;The technology is safe as it does not penetrate the subject&#8217;s body; while also allowing other officers to grab the individual being stimulated with no fear of feedback into their bodies. CD3 technology is a great, humane, low-optics, de-escalation solution for many situations facing our men and women in uniform today,&#8221; the company says.
The shocks can&#8217;t pass through clothing, hair, metal, plastic, or fur, according to the company.
Agents must complete a training course before using the gloves and get re-certified to operate them every two years, <a href="https://www.complianttechnologies.net/terms-and-conditions" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Compliant Technologies&#8217; website.
A contract solicitation for the proposed rollout is expected to be published on Friday, according to the DHS notice.

An illegal immigrant released into the country under the Biden administration has been charged with fatally stabbing his roommate with a machete, The Daily Wire has learned.
Edy Rivas Rizo, a 27-year-old Nicaraguan national, allegedly attacked his roommate at a mobile home park in Hallandale Beach, Florida, around 1:15 p.m on August 2, <a href="https://www.local10.com/news/local/2026/08/03/that-guy-just-killed-me-were-victims-last-words-after-fatal-hallandale-beach-stabbing-cops-say/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Local 10 News. Surveillance video allegedly showed Rivas chasing the victim, stabbing him in the armpit area, and fighting with him on the ground.
A witness told police that moments before the victim collapsed, he pointed toward Rivas and uttered his final words: “That guy just killed me.&#8221;
In a statement shared with The Daily Wire, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said the victim &#8220;would still be alive if it weren’t for the Biden administration releasing him into the country.&#8221;
Rivas illegally crossed the southern border into California in April 2022 and was released into the United States by border agents, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has since lodged a detainer with officials in Broward County to ensure the suspect isn&#8217;t released onto the streets.
&#8220;We will work with our partners in Florida to make sure this killer is removed from our country. Deporting illegal aliens saves lives,&#8221; Mullin said.
Police and surveillance footage showed Rivas and the victim fighting on the ground after the stabbing before two witnesses managed to take the machete away from Rivas. The victim then walked roughly 15 yards before collapsing, according to Local 10 News.
One of the witnesses called 911, and first responders transported the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police later searched Rivas&#8217; home and found &#8220;a large amount of blood&#8221; as well as the machete wedged between two doors in a storage area, according to the arrest report cited by Local 10 News.
Rivas told law enforcement that the victim had attacked him while he was drinking beer outside with two other men and that he went inside to retrieve the machete because he felt his life was in danger. He claimed that during the ensuing struggle, the victim &#8220;accidentally fell on the blade.&#8221;
The illegal immigrant initially denied chasing the victim, according to police, but changed his account after being shown the surveillance footage. Police said Rivas then admitted chasing the victim but claimed that he intended to strike him with the broad side of the machete rather than its sharp edge.
Authorities arrested Rivas and charged him with first-degree murder. He is being held without bond at the Broward County Main Jail.
ICE lodged the detainer with the jail on August 3, according to DHS.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have descended on airports across the country, expanding enforcement operations to target illegal immigrants who overstayed their visas, according to The New York Times.
Federal immigration officers have been seen arresting individuals at the check-in counters and boarding gates and are said to be operating at 15 airports, the outlet <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/07/28/us/ice-arrests-airports-visa-overstay.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, citing documents and interviews with immigration attorneys.
&#8220;This administration is working diligently to ensure that aliens in our country illegally can no longer fly unless it is out of our country to self-deport,&#8221; a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson told The New York Times.
The latest operation builds on a TSA-ICE partnership launched in May 2025 to arrest individuals with outstanding deportation orders at airports, The Times reported.
It also comes as the Trump administration ramps up pressure on ICE to increase arrest numbers, agency sources have recently told The Daily Wire.

Several recent airport arrests have gone viral on social media.
ICE arrested Chantal Alejandra Morales Rojas on July 20 while she attempted to board a Southwest Airlines flight from Denver to Oakland, <a href="https://www.9news.com/article/news/latest-news-ott/immigration-judge-grants-bond-woman-ice-dia/73-a462eafa-ef1f-4fc1-af6e-60be892e77ba?utm_campaign=snd-autopilot" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to 9News. The incident was captured on video, appearing to show plainclothes officers intercepting her on the jetway before escorting her away.
All the while, the woman behind the camera was repeatedly calling for &#8220;help&#8221; and crying out &#8220;ICE is here&#8221; and &#8220;f*ck ICE,&#8221; according to the video.
A GoFundMe set up for Morales Rojas said she has a valid work permit and a pending asylum application, 9News reported.
ICE said she entered the United States on October 20, 2024, and that her visa expired on January 4, 2025, according to the outlet. The agency added that having a pending case or work authorization doesn&#8217;t keep ICE from making an arrest.
&#8220;A &#8216;work permit&#8217; and/or a pending asylum case does NOT confer any type of legal status in the United States or prevent ICE from arresting or deporting an illegal alien from the country,&#8221; ICE said.
An immigration judge has since granted bond to Morales Rojas, <a href="https://www.9news.com/article/news/latest-news-ott/immigration-judge-grants-bond-woman-ice-dia/73-a462eafa-ef1f-4fc1-af6e-60be892e77ba" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to 9News.
As a result of the Trump administration&#8217;s latest arrest effort, immigration lawyers say they are instructing their clients awaiting decisions on pending immigration applications to avoid travel.
&#8220;Before, I was saying, ‘As long as you have an ID, you can travel domestically.&#8217; Now I am turning around and saying, ‘If you are in the process of changing status, avoid any travel,'&#8221; Shannon Shepherd, an immigration lawyer who is vice chair for the Chicago chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, told The Times.
