Former Trump White House chief strategist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/steve-bannon" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Steve Bannon</a> reported to federal prison on Monday after the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/supreme-court" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Supreme Court</a> declined to postpone his sentence while he appeals his conviction on contempt of Congress charges. 
Bannon, 70, was sentenced to four months in prison after he was convicted for not complying with a subpoena from the Democrat-run January 6 committee in 2022 instructing him to testify and produce certain documents for the committee. After a lengthy appeals process, a federal judge <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/federal-judge-orders-bannon-to-report-to-prison" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ordered</a> Bannon to report to prison on July 1. 
Before turning himself in at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut, Bannon spoke to supporters, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).
“I am proud to go to prison,” he <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/07/01/us-news/trump-ally-steve-bannon-says-hes-proud-to-go-to-prison-as-he-surrenders-for-contempt-of-congress-conviction/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “If this is what it takes to stand up to tyranny; if this is what it takes to stand up to the [Attorney General Merrick] Garland corrupt criminal DOJ; if this is what it takes to stand up to Nancy Pelosi; if this is what it takes to stand up to Joe Biden — I’m proud to do it.”
On Friday, the Supreme Court <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2024/06/28/supreme-court-steve-bannon-prison-sentence/74207784007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">chose not</a> to postpone the prison sentence after Bannon requested it do so. 
Bannon previously said that the prosecution was politicized and was a way to go after former President Donald Trump. 
“This is about shutting down the MAGA movement, shutting down grassroots conservatives, shutting down President Trump,” he said after a judge ordered him to prison. “Not only are we winning, we are going to prevail and every number and every poll shows that.”

Another Trump aide, Peter Navarro, is also in prison after being convicted of contempt of Congress charges. Navarro was charged because he, too, refused to meet with the January 6 Committee. He entered federal prison on March 19 and is serving a four-month sentence. 
Last week, top House Republicans <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-to-withdraw-january-6-committee-arguments-in-bannon-case" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced a plan</a> to file a brief with the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals in support of Bannon’s efforts to have his conviction overturned. 
The brief would “withdraw certain arguments made by the House earlier in the litigation about the organization of the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol during the prior Congress” when Democrats led the House.

Celebrity Chef <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gordon Ramsay</a> urged his followers on social media to wear a helmet when they are riding bicycles as he opened up about a recent serious accident that he was involved in where he could have been killed.
&#8220;I&#8217;d like to share a very important message with you all,&#8221; Ramsay said in a video. &#8220;You know how much I love cycling and triathlons and Ironman, etc. This week, unfortunately, I had a really bad accident. And it really shook me. And, obviously, I&#8217;m lucky to be here.&#8221;
&#8220;Now from those incredible trauma surgeons, doctors, nurses in the hospital that looked after me this week, they were amazing. But honestly, you&#8217;ve got to wear a helmet,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I don&#8217;t care how short the journey is. I don&#8217;t care the fact that these helmets cost money, but they&#8217;re crucial. Even with the kids, a short journey, they&#8217;ve got to wear a helmet.&#8221;
He then lifted up the side of his shirt and showed a massive bruise that he sustained from the accident that covered the entire side of his torso.
&#8220;Now, I&#8217;m lucky to be standing here. I&#8217;m in pain,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It&#8217;s been a brutal week, and I&#8217;m sort of getting through it. But, I cannot tell you the importance of wearing a helmet.&#8221;
He concluded the video by once again urging: &#8220;Please, please, please, please wear a helmet. Because if I didn&#8217;t, honestly, I wouldn&#8217;t be here now.&#8221;
In the caption of the video posted on X, Ramsay said that the accident happened in Connecticut.

Four Democrat campaign workers have been criminally charged with absentee ballot fraud during the 2019 Bridgeport, Connecticut, Democratic mayoral primary.
Chief State’s Attorney Patrick J. Griffin announced the charges on Tuesday against Alfredo Castillo, age 52, Wanda Geter-Pataky, age 67, Nilsa Heredia, age 61, and Josephine Edmonds, age 62, all of Bridgeport.

All four were charged with Unlawful Possession of Absentee Ballots and other election-related charges, prosecutors <a href="https://portal.ct.gov/dcj/press-room/press-releases/06112024bridgeport#:~:text=Inspectors%20from%20the%20Statewide%20Prosecution,Ballots%2C%20in%20violation%20of%20Connecticut">said</a> in a statement.
The statement continued:

The State Elections Enforcement Commission (SEEC) opened up a civil investigation into allegations of ballots that were mishandled which later turned into a criminal investigation after evidence was uncovered.
“Integrity of our voting process is vital to our democracy,” Chief State’s Attorney Griffin said. “I appreciate the attention and time the Statewide Prosecution Bureau put into these investigations. I hope these prosecutions will send a message that deters tampering with election results in the future in Connecticut.”
Geter-Pataky, who works for the city, &#8220;is the subject of recent absentee ballot fraud allegations, after she was seen in city surveillance footage seemingly placing stacks of absentee ballots into drop boxes ahead of [Democratic Mayor Joe] Ganim’s 2023 primary election against John Gomes,&#8221; the CT Examiner <a href="https://ctexaminer.com/2024/06/11/warrants-reveal-new-details-in-2019-bridgeport-election-fraud-case/">reported</a>. &#8220;That footage prompted a state Superior Court judge to overturn the initial round of elections.&#8221;

A former Yale University student who was accused of sexual assault but acquitted at trial is suing 15 women’s organizations he says defamed him after the verdict.
Saifullah Khan was found not guilty in March 2018 but was subsequently expelled from Yale anyway. He sued the university and his accuser – and is <a href="https://civilinquiry.jud.ct.gov/DocumentInquiry/DocumentInquiry.aspx?DocumentNo=27589553">now suing</a> women’s organizations he says defamed him in post-verdict filings.
While suing Yale and his accuser, who has not been named in court or the media, the 15 organizations applied to file an amicus brief with the Connecticut Supreme Court. The filing included a proposed brief, which Khan says included “several false and defamatory statements.”
Those statements include the opening sentence, which stated as fact, “When Jane Doe was in college, the Plaintiff raped her,” even though Khan was acquitted. The brief also claimed that “her rapist invented an ambiguity in Connecticut law and subjected her to years of costly and traumatic retaliatory litigation.”
Throughout the brief, the organizations referred to the accuser as a “victim&#8221; and noted in a footnote that “Jane Doe was raped…”
When Khan and his attorney objected to the organizations’ application to file the amicus brief, the groups defended their claims as “supported by the record.”
The Connecticut Supreme Court disagreed with the claim, denying the application but allowing them to refile. In its denial, the court argued that any refiling must be “shorn of all facts not supported by the record.”
When the organizations refiled their brief, the opening sentence was changed to say: “Jane Doe, while a student at Yale University, engaged in Yale’s legally-obligated reporting and disciplinary procedures to report that plaintiff had sexually assaulted her.”
As Khan notes in his lawsuit, the original proposed brief is still <a href="https://appellateinquiry.jud.ct.gov/DocumentDisplayer.aspx?AppId=2&amp;DocId=qIg2wdaGkywLFsHjxUajVA%3d%3d">permanently available</a> on the Connecticut Supreme Court website.
Khan filed professional ethics complaints against Jennifer Becker, an attorney associated with the initial brief. When answering the complaint, Becker apologized for the language, saying, “I first want to acknowledge and apologize for the offending language that was included in the draft amicus brief.” She added that her language “was over-zealous and unnecessarily forceful.” She also directly addressed the use of the word “rape,” saying it was used “without qualification that it was an allegation…”
She claimed, however, that “any overzealousness on my part was ameliorated by the Court’s order and there is no resulting harm to Mr. Khan.”

Khan disagrees and is suing Becker and 15 women’s organizations who signed on to the amicus brief: Jewish Women International, Legal Momentum, The Fierberg National Law Group, Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation, Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Futures Without Violence, Advocates For Youth, National Alliance to End Sexual Violence, National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, National Crime Victim Law Institute, National Network to End Domestic Violence, National Women’s Law Center, Network for Victim Recovery, Sanctuary for Families, and the Women’s Law Project.
The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-jury-acquitted-him-on-all-charges-but-yale-still-expelled-him-now-hes-suing-the-school-and-his-accuser">reported</a> on the details of Khan’s case. In March 2018, a jury found him not guilty in a court of law. While some could argue that “not guilty” does not mean “innocent,” some jurors <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2018/03/16/setting-the-record-straight-on-the-yale-sex-assault-trial/">said</a> they perceived him as innocent after the trial.
“He’s innocent, and the facts prove it,” said Elise Wiener, an alternate juror who saw the same evidence as the other jurors. “He was acquitted because he deserved to be acquitted and the prosecutor should never have brought the case in the first place.”

Dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested at Yale University in Connecticut on Monday, police said, making for another law enforcement crackdown on an anti-Israel demonstration at an Ivy League school in the past week.
Anthony Campbell, the chief of the Yale Police Department, <a href="https://yaledailynews.com/blog/2024/04/22/live-police-begin-arresting-pro-divestment-protesters-on-beinecke-plaza/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told the Yale Daily News</a> that 40-45 people had been detained and charged with trespassing, a Class A misdemeanor.
Police had warned the protesters on Sunday night that they would be arrested if they did not vacate Yale&#8217;s Beinecke Plaza where they had set up tents, Campbell added.

Protesters have reportedly been demanding Yale divest from military weapons manufacturers and chanting in solidarity with the Palestinians as Israel wages war on Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
University President Peter Salovey issued a <a href="https://president.yale.edu/president/statements/our-commitment-campus-safety-peaceful-assembly-and-civil-discourse" target="_blank" rel="noopener">message</a> on Sunday stating that Yale would &#8220;pursue disciplinary actions&#8221; for those found to be violating the school&#8217;s policies.
&#8220;Putting up structures, defying the directives of university officials, staying in campus spaces past allowed times, and other acts that violate university policies and guidelines create safety hazards and impede the work of our university,&#8221; Salovey said.
He added, &#8220;We are continuing to speak with students who are participating in protests so they understand the disciplinary consequences of actions that violate Yale’s policies.&#8221;
Salovey also said that most of the students have been protesting peacefully but noted that he was &#8220;aware of reports of egregious behavior, such as intimidation and harassment, pushing those in crowds, removal of the plaza flag, and other harmful acts.&#8221;
Yale University &#8220;does not tolerate actions, including remarks, that threaten, harass, or intimidate members of the university’s Jewish, Muslim, and other communities,&#8221; Salovey said.
&#8220;The Yale Police Department is investigating each report, and we will take action when appropriate, including making referrals for student discipline,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;We are providing support to affected students.&#8221;

At Columbia University in New York City, police have arrested more than <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/20/nyregion/arrested-columbia-students-suspended.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">100 students</a> for refusing to leave an encampment. On Monday, Columbia moved to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/columbia-university-moves-to-remote-learning-as-campus-rancor-puts-jewish-students-on-edge" target="_blank" rel="noopener">remote learning</a> to &#8220;deescalate the rancor and give us all a chance to consider next steps,&#8221; the school&#8217;s president said.

A New Haven, Connecticut city official was disciplined with “cultural sensitivity training” after chanting ethnic cleansing slogans with a megaphone, and encouraging others to do the same, outside a local Jewish family’s home.
Thabisa Rich, New Haven’s Community Outreach Coordinator for the Department of Arts, Cultural, and Tourism, caused a scene outside the home of a local rabbi last month because of a pro-Israel yard sign.  according to a video obtained by The Daily Wire. Her social media also had several anti-Semitic posts since Israel was attacked on October 7 by terrorists, including stating she does not &#8220;condemn Hamas” for its murder of more than 1,000 Israelis, and others that invoked tropes about Jewish money and power.
The city says, however, that while Rich did violate the city&#8217;s code of conduct, she will keep her job.
“A formal letter of reprimand was provided to Thabisa Rich … for violations of the City’s Code of Conduct regarding her actions on February 11th and several statements posted on social media,” the office of New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker said in a statement, <a href="https://www.courant.com/2024/03/04/ct-municipal-worker-reprimanded-following-public-confrontation-over-israel-gaza-war/">according</a> to the Hartford Courant. “The letter of reprimand was also accompanied by a coaching statement and corrective action requirements, including the need to attend cultural sensitivity training.”

The city added that she may face more disciplinary action including termination if she fails to follow the code of conduct in the future.
In a “Counseling Discussion Plan” accompanying the <a href="https://d2f1dfnoetc03v.cloudfront.net/Files/Rich_Letter_030124-Signed.pdf">letter of reprimand</a>, the City alleges Rich’s actions have “impaired her ability to perform” in her job and that she has “done significant damage to her professional reputation and ability to work with a wide spectrum of individuals and groups in the city.”
Thabisa Rich was hired last year by New Haven and given the responsibility of managing $1.2 million in federal funding for the city under the America Rescue Plan Act, according to<a href="https://www.nhregister.com/news/article/thabisa-rich-takes-2-new-roles-city-ct-folk-arts-17777205.php"> the New Haven Register</a>. At the time, Director of Cultural Affairs Adriane Jefferson said Thabisa Rich was hired because they were “looking for someone who can be a bridge builder,” the local news outlet reported.
In videos posted of the incident by Rabbi Elchanan Poupko and Rich herself, the city official can be heard repeatedly shouting “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” a chant often used by pro-Palestinian radicals that is seen as a call for ethnic cleansing of the Jewish and other non-Arab populations that live in Israel. She was eventually joined by her husband Charlie Rich, who, wearing a mask, defended her actions and pressed the Jewish resident Poupko to denounce Israel.
“We were very shaken,” Poupko said. “It turns out they are both very prominent members of the community who came to harass us because of our ‘stand with Israel sign.’”
In a livestream after the incident, Rich encouraged others to come back to the street with her.
“You tell me when you want to come back and ask for a ceasefire and ask for this people to stop their hate because they think that they are white and privileged and that they think that their religion is superior than the rest,” she stated. “I need people to show up to this very same street. We need to find a time to come back and show up in numbers and say no, enough is enough.”
The letter thanked Rich for removing the posts from her personal Facebook, including one where she accused people of not speaking out about the war because they have Jewish bosses.

“Your silence is starting to signify complacency,” she wrote. “I promise I understand that some of y’all have your pockets lined with bosses who are Jewish.”
During the Super Bowl on Sunday, <a href="https://archive.ph/dMGsb">Rich said</a> she was “sick of these Jew focused ads [sic].”
“We have been witnessing Jewish folks inflicting hate,” <a href="https://archive.ph/KpUR2">she said</a> in another post the same day. “It’s not made up.”
In her response to the reprimand, Rich wrote that her social media posts were “taken out of context” and were intended to “shed light on the propaganda and misinformation surrounding the true impact of the conflict on the people of Palestine.”
Moving forward, Rich is required to refrain from protests with abusive conduct, not make statements or social media posts targeting an entire race or religion, and state explicitly that her opinions are her own and not the city’s, according to the Counseling Discussion Plan.
“While city employees can have different and strongly held views on important issues, there is an appropriate time, place, and manner in which to express them – and incidents and statements of this nature will not be tolerated,” the mayor wrote in the statement.
After the incident, Rich’s husband was placed on employee administrative leave <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/connecticut-private-school-takes-action-against-employee-who-joined-wife-to-protest-outside-jewish-familys-home">by his employer</a>, The Hopkins School, located a few houses away from Poupko’s home.

A Connecticut woman will become Vermont’s first nonresident to die by medically assisted suicide on Thursday.
76-year-old Lynda Bluestein traveled from Connecticut to Vermont on Wednesday to prepare for her scheduled death. Bluestein’s son, Jake Shannon, <a href="https://connecticut.news12.com/exclusive-bridgeport-woman-heading-to-vermont-to-die" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> News 12 Connecticut that Bluestein will take a lethal injection on Thursday morning. 
&#8220;I&#8217;d like to be remembered as someone who never thought that second best was even in the realm of possibility; who always believed that you can make everything better,&#8221; said Bluestein.
Bluestein said the state of Connecticut was “cruel” for not allowing medically assisted suicide. Supporters of assisted suicide also commonly refer to the practice as medical aid in dying (MAID), physician-assisted death, and aid in dying.
“Our state has failed my family and many others. Who can take a calendar and say that&#8217;s the day I&#8217;m going to die?” <a href="https://connecticut.news12.com/bridgeport-womans-journey-to-death-begins" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Bluestein. “I was astonished on how cruel that felt.”
In anticipation of her death last month, Bluestein <a href="https://westportlibrary.org/westport-library-to-welcome-wind-phones-a-gift-to-the-community-and-a-lasting-tribute-to-the-remarkable-lynda-bluestein/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">donated</a> two “wind phones” to her local library, one of which resides in the children’s section. The phones aren’t connected to anything. Rather, the user carries on a one-way conversation to their deceased loved one as a means of processing grief. The concept originated with an unconnected telephone booth in Japan established in 2010 by a man grieving his cousin’s death. 
Since its legalization in 2013, <a href="https://legislature.vermont.gov/assets/Legislative-Reports/Patient-Choice-Legislative-Report-Final.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">200 individuals</a> have died using Vermont’s medically assisted suicide, according to a report from the Vermont Department of Health to the state legislature. Over 150 of those cases sought suicide due to cancer, including Bluestein, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Only those with a terminal illness given six months or less to live qualify for medically assisted suicide, and the individual must self-administer the medication. 
The state classifies the manner of these deaths as natural, with the cause listed as the underlying disease that prompted them to seek medically assisted suicide.  
In addition to Vermont, nine other states and Washington, D.C., allow medically assisted suicide: California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, and the state of Washington. However, only Vermont and Oregon allow nonresidents to obtain it. 
Bluestein <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/29/nyregion/connecticut-vermont-medical-assisted-death.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sued</a> Vermont in 2022 over its original restriction of the practice to residents only. Last May, the state legislature removed that requirement.
Over the years, Bluestein and groups like the Death With Dignity organization have advocated to legalize medically assisted suicide in Connecticut, but to no avail. Proposed legislation on the matter dating back to the late 1990s initially made it no further than introduction. Legalization gained slight momentum with committee assignments beginning in 2020; however, the bills haven’t advanced out of any committee over the last three legislative sessions. 
In Bluestein’s last testimony <a href="https://www.cga.ct.gov/2023/PHdata/Tmy/2023SB-01076-R000227-Bluestein,%20Lynda,%20Ms-Supports-TMY.PDF" target="_blank" rel="noopener">advocating</a> for legalization of medically assisted suicide, she insisted that the majority of Connecticut residents support it. 
“When I, like so many before me, have just wanted ‘to wake up dead,’ I want it to be at home and at peace,” said Bluestein. 
Over 5,000 patients in eight states died from medically assisted suicide from 1998 to 2020, <a href="https://agsjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/jgs.17925" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to data published in 2022 by the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.

At least six state capitol buildings across the country were evacuated after receiving bomb threats Wednesday morning. 
State capitol buildings in Connecticut, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, and Montana all reported bomb threats, prompting investigations by state police and local authorities. Each of the threats appeared to be a hoax email sent to numerous government employees claiming explosives had been placed in the capitol buildings. 
“While everyone is safe, KSP has asked everyone to evacuate the state Capitol and is investigating a threat received by the Secretary of State’s Office,” Kentucky Democratic Governor Andy Beshear <a href="https://twitter.com/GovAndyBeshear/status/1742568209121730634">wrote</a> in a post on X. “We are aware of similar threats made to other offices across the country.”
A spokesman for Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams said that the threat was sent to multiple secretaries of state across the country as a “mass email,” the Lexington Herald-Leader <a href="https://www.kentucky.com/news/politics-government/article283779473.html">reported</a>. Adams’ office added that the email claimed bombs had been placed in state capitols. 
The Michigan State Capitol <a href="https://twitter.com/MIStateCapitol/status/1742571070509535685">posted</a> on X that the building would be closed for the remainder of Wednesday as authorities continued investigating. 
&#8220;Out of an abundance of caution, the Capitol will remain closed for the rest of the day,&#8221; Michigan State Police spokeswoman Lori Dougovito said, <a href="https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/michigan/2024/01/03/state-capitol-evacuated-due-to-safety-and-security-concerns/72095198007/">according</a> to The Detroit News.
Michigan House Republican Floor Leader Bryan Posthumus said in a statement to The Daily Wire that he and his team were in his office &#8220;when security informed us of the threat and evacuated us quickly and professionally.&#8221;
&#8220;So far there’s no cause for greater alarm as we turn the building over for law enforcement to sweep,&#8221; Posthumus added. &#8220;This is unfortunately a reality for our modern world but I applaud the quick and effective work of the first responders and capitol security.&#8221;

Four cities across Connecticut were plagued by street takeovers where huge numbers of drivers took over their streets last weekend, leaving shoppers stranded in parking lots.
In North Haven, drivers brought traffic in the city to a halt while they threw firecrackers at police and bystanders, according to local police.
“It’s scary. Very scary,” one local resident told <a href="https://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/conn-police-departments-address-rash-of-street-takeovers/3169515/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a>. “You can’t go anywhere. You don’t know what they’re up to. Are they destroying things? Are they hurting other people?”

Police, who attempted to break up the group, said the massive group of 500 drivers began their rampage in Shelton, then drove to North Haven, Orange, and Derby before returning to Shelton.
“They congregated here, talked to each other, see where they’re going to next,” Shelton Police Deputy Chief Kevin Stratton <a href="https://www.wtnh.com/news/connecticut/new-haven/how-connecticut-law-enforcement-agencies-prepare-for-street-takeovers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated.</a> “It’s 8 o’clock on a Saturday night during the holiday season. People are out shopping. When you have 3-500 cars coming to the shopping area, it literally bottlenecks the lights and all lanes of traffic.”
“We started here, and set the plan out, so we were ready for them when they got here and moved with them,” Shelton Police Chief Shawn Sequeira said. “We just got ahead of it and put the barricades and roadblocks up, so when they came to one particular area, we turned them away and we predicted the other areas they may attend.”
“Some of the vehicles traveled from New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Vermont for this event,” Shelton police detective Richard Bango <a href="https://www.ctinsider.com/news/article/north-haven-milford-shelton-west-street-takeovers-18545027.php?_ga=2.143768114.605197309.1702617371-889147123.1702617369#photo-24530033" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;When the vehicles arrived at Research Drive business parking lots they were turned away. The group then attempted to plan alternative parking lots to gather along Bridgeport Avenue using social media.”
“Multiple parties involved began throwing fireworks towards Police and were not complying with orders,” the West Haven Police Department stated on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/people/West-Haven-Police-Department/100064657035464/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Facebook</a>. “As a result, our officers converged on the area and made 6 arrests. 4 adults and 2 juveniles were charged accordingly. Due to the large amount of video evidence our agency anticipates more arrests in the near future. Any attempts at “street takeovers” and/or blocking the roadways denying our citizens access to public safety will not be tolerated. Our agency will continue to investigate this and hold all parties involved accountable.”

‘You Can’t Go Anywhere’: Four Connecticut Cities Hit By Street Takeovers, Christmas Shoppers Stranded

A friend of mine and her family live near Lebanon, Connecticut, a small, rural town in the southeastern corner of the state. She recently contacted me, sharing her concern over a new club for young learners at her local elementary school. The name of the club – and this is not a belated Halloween joke – is “<a href="https://www.ctinsider.com/connecticut/article/after-school-satan-club-lebanon-ct-18483405.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">After School Satan Club</a>.” 
 
Yes, Satanists are running a club at an elementary school. In fact, they advertise it on a flyer designed with cute colored pencils. While the club is not “approved or sponsored by the school district,” the first meeting is set for December 1, 2023. 
The middle of the flyer contains this disclaimer:

After School Satan Club does not attempt to convert children to any religion. Instead, The Satanic Temple supports children to think for themselves.</blockquote>

Sounds like the sort of nonsense we should expect from the father of lies. A little more digging around, however, reveals that a larger organization is behind the new club, <a href="https://thesatanictemple.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Satanic Temple</a>. And while the title of the organization is foreboding, it appears to be a group dedicated to promoting a leftist agenda — unique only in that it has adopted the prince of darkness as its mascot.
Those upset with the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, for example, will be pleased to know that The Satanic Temple has <a href="https://thesatanictemple.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">petitioned</a> the state of Texas to allow their members to undergo voluntary abortions as part of a religious ritual. 
And since Justice Samuel Alito was the primary author of the Court’s majority opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, members can also send in donations to the Temple’s fundraiser for the “Samuel Alito’s Mom’s Abortion Clinic.” How nice.

In addition to shilling for Big Abortion, The Satanic Temple is also dedicated to going after those children who&#8217;ve escaped the womb and actually succeeded in being born. They do it by targeting those schools that allow Bible study groups to meet after school.
Wherever there&#8217;s a Bible study club on school grounds, they want a Satan club.
“The After School Satan Club does not believe in introducing religion into public schools and will only open a club if other religious groups are operating on campus,” the group <a href="https://thesatanictemple.com/pages/after-school-satan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">explains</a>.
So far they’ve been successful in setting up after school clubs in rural elementary schools in <a href="https://www.wavy.com/news/local-news/after-school-satan-club-to-hold-1st-meeting-at-chesapeake-primary-school/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Virginia</a> and <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/3981851-federal-judge-rules-pennsylvania-school-district-must-allow-after-school-satan-club/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pennsylvania</a>. The one in Virginia was even <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/virginia-democrat-pushed-after-school-satan-club-and-has-a-fixation-on-the-demonic" target="_blank" rel="noopener">promoted by a Democrat</a> candidate for office, The Daily Wire reported last month.
Like many other schools across the country, Lebanon’s elementary school recently authorized a “<a href="https://www.cefonline.com/ministries/goodnewsclub/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Good News Club</a>” to hold after school meetings. Good News Club, a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship, is a weekly interdenominational Christian program for 5- to 12-year-old children featuring a Bible lesson, songs, memory verses, and games.
In 2001, the Supreme Court handed the organization a major victory, holding that the club was entitled to the same access as other groups to provide after-school programs promoting &#8220;moral and character development&#8221; to elementary school students in Milford, New York. In the <a href="https://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/pdf/99-2036P.ZO" target="_blank" rel="noopener">words</a> of Justice Clarence Thomas: “When Milford denied the Good News Club access to the school’s limited public forum on the ground that the Club was religious in nature, it discriminated against the Club because of its religious viewpoint in violation of the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment.” 
 
Last weekend, the superintendent of Lebanon public schools wrote to parents explaining that “by opening its facilities to outside groups offering non-curricular activities, the District legally must allow access by various groups without regard to their religious, political, or philosophical perspectives, as long as the organizations comply with the view-point neutral criteria set forth in Board policies.” 
 
But must it? 
 
The Lebanon School Board <a href="https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/494208/1007_-_Use_of_School_Facilities.pdf">policy</a>, consistent with Connecticut <a href="https://law.justia.com/codes/connecticut/2020/title-10/chapter-170/section-10-239/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">law</a>, permits “the use of any school facility for nonprofit educational or community purposes.” There is nothing “educational” about the Satanic Temple&#8217;s farce of an after school club. It is tailor-made to mock the principles of the First Amendment by targeting schools where religious clubs have been established. This is a strong reason to deny use of school facilities, but don’t bet on the school board doing so. They are certainly aware that when a school board in Pennsylvania denied the club access, they were hauled into court by the ACLU, the ACLU of Pennsylvania and Dechert LLP on behalf of the Temple.

Of the 336 pre-K to 4th grade students attending Lebanon Elementary School, the parents of <a href="https://www.ctinsider.com/connecticut/article/after-school-satan-club-lebanon-ct-18483405.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nine</a> children have given them permission to join the after school club for its inaugural meeting on December 1. That&#8217;s a very small proportion, but let&#8217;s be clear about what is happening here.
Those nine children face the prospect of indoctrination by pro-abortion, gender ideology fanatics who, despite their invocation of the ultimate symbol of evil, enjoy the support of powerful lobbyists friendly with the current administration. Which is headed by someone who tells us he is a devout Catholic. The Satanic Temple may not be Devil-worshipers, but make no mistake about it: their beliefs, which on key issues align closely with those of progressives claiming to be Christians, are truly diabolical.

A judge has ruled that a Democratic mayoral primary in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/connecticut" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Connecticut</a> be held again after surveillance videos emerged that captured a city official and former city councilwoman appearing to place numerous ballots into a drop box in a way that violated state election law. 
Superior Court Judge William F. Clark ordered the new primary after Bridgeport incumbent Democratic Mayor Joe Ganim won a narrow victory over challenger John Gomes last month. Gomes, who lost by 251 votes after 81,873 were cast, had sued City Clerk Charles Clemons, Jr., alleging election fraud. 
Clark ruled that footage showed city <a href="https://www.ctpost.com/news/article/bridgeport-wanda-geter-pataky-absentee-ballots-18376914.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">employee</a> Wanda Geter-Pataky and former Councilwoman Eneida Martinez broke the law when they &#8220;mishandled&#8221; ballots. 
“Therefore, the counting of any ballots that were mishandled in violation of state law and placed into drop boxes by Ms. Geter-Pataky, Ms. Martinez, and others, was a mistake in the vote count. Given the volume of votes at issue, the miscounting of those statutorily invalid votes leaves this court unable to determine the result of the primary,” the judge <a href="https://civilinquiry.jud.ct.gov/DocumentInquiry/DocumentInquiry.aspx?DocumentNo=26199518" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> on Wednesday. 
The judge said that Geter-Pataky actively dropped “numerous ballots into the box herself,” sometimes very early in the morning or late at night. He also pointed to footage that appeared to show her handling stacks of ballots and escorting people to drop off multiple ballots. 
“These instances do not appear to be random. They appear to be conscious acts with a partisan purpose that violates the mandatory requirements of how absentee ballots are supposed to be handled or delivered,” Clark said. 
Geter-Pataky and Martinez pointed to their Fifth Amendment rights when asked about some of their actions during testimony before Clark last month. 
“The volume of evidence in this case, including the many hundreds of hours of video surveillance disclosed and accepted into evidence is, perhaps, unprecedented in the state of Connecticut in an election case,” the judge said, who added that the videos were “shocking.”
Gomes called the decision “a victory for the people of Bridgeport.” 
“Our campaign always believed that the integrity of our democratic process must be upheld and Superior Court Judge William Clark agreed,” he said. Gomes had previously shared footage on Facebook of individuals dropping off ballots at drop boxes.

No date for the new primary has been set yet because it might not be necessary. It all depends on what happens in the upcoming November 7 general election when Ganim faces off against Gomes, who is running as an independent, and Republican David Herz. 
If Gomes wins on November 7, his legal team said they would withdraw the complaint, and Gomes would become mayor. If Ganim wins, another Democratic primary would be held, per Judge Clark&#8217;s ruling.
If a new Democratic primary is held and Gomes wins, a new general election would be scheduled, according to Gomes&#8217; attorney. If Ganim were to win, he would be re-elected mayor. No further general election would take place because Gomes&#8217; complaint sought a new primary election, <a href="https://ctmirror.org/2023/11/01/bridgeport-primary-election-ruling-ganim-gomes/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Connecticut Mirror.

Connecticut Secretary of State Stephanie Thomas agreed with the court order.
“We’re pleased Judge Clark is protecting the integrity of our elections by ordering a new Primary Election,” she said. “Per the Court’s decision, the Secretary of the State’s office will confer with the mayoral candidate campaigns, elections officials in Bridgeport, and other officials to determine the date of the new Primary within 10 days.”
Connecticut state Senate Minority Leader Kevin Kelly, a Republican, said the ruling confirmed concerns about the potential for abuse of absentee ballots. 
“These videos confirm our fears about how absentee ballots can be misused. Now the court has spoken,” he said. “What we need now is trust, faith and confidence in our electoral system.”

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/yale" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yale University</a> students were welcomed to campus with crime &#8220;survival guide&#8221; flyers featuring the Grim Reaper that were handed out by the Ivy League school&#8217;s police union.
The &#8220;Survival Guide for First-Year Students of Yale University&#8221; warns students about “shockingly high” crime in New Haven, Connecticut, where Yale is located, wishing them “good luck” alongside a picture of a skull in a Grim Reaper hood.
“The incidence of crime and violence in New Haven is shockingly high, and it is getting worse,” reads the flyer from the Yale Police Benevolent Association.
The flyers closely resemble the infamous “Welcome to Fear City” flyers handed out by the NYPD to tourists in the crime-ridden New York City of the 1970s.
Murders have doubled, burglaries are up 33%, and car thefts are up 56% in the seven months ending July 23, the police union warned.
City spokesman Len Speiller <a href="https://www.nhregister.com/news/article/yale-new-haven-police-crime-flyers-fact-check-18325538.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">confirmed</a> to the New Haven Register that &#8220;those specific data points are all accurate.&#8221;
“Nevertheless, some Yalies do manage to survive New Haven and even retain their person property,” the flyer said.
The police union warned students to stay off the streets after 8 p.m., to avoid walking alone, to avoid public transportation, and to stay on campus, among other safety advice.

City and Yale officials both blasted the police union for handing out the ominous flyers to incoming students.
Yale University officials called the flyers &#8220;misinformation,&#8221; as well as &#8220;disturbing and inflammatory.&#8221;
&#8220;This weekend, the Yale Police Union, which is currently in contract negotiations with the university, handed out misleading pamphlets to Yale students as they moved into their residential colleges,&#8221; Yale <a href="https://news.yale.edu/2023/08/21/yale-university-response-misinformation-police-union-pamphlet" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Monday in a statement.
Yale officials said they &#8220;unequivocally condemn the irresponsible and reckless actions of those who chose to spread this inaccurate information.&#8221;
The school claimed that robberies and burglaries are down both on campus and in New Haven. Yale said the most reported crime on campus is the theft of laptops, cell phones, and motorized scooters that have been left unattended and unsecured.
&#8220;The university supports the right of union members to rally peacefully, but today’s leafleting both ran counter to the spirit of the day and detracted from the exemplary work performed by Yale Police officers, Public Safety team members, and their partners at the New Haven Police Department,&#8221; Yale said.
New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker slammed the flyer as &#8220;totally offensive&#8221; and &#8220;false and scary,&#8221; saying crime is down in New Haven since 2020, when many cities across the country saw a spike in violent crime.
&#8220;As the Mayor stated at the press conference, when you look most of the trends over time, crime is down,&#8221; <a href="https://www.nhregister.com/news/article/yale-new-haven-police-crime-flyers-fact-check-18325538.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Speiller, the city spokesman, adding that you can &#8220;cherry pick certain data points to construct a false narrative.&#8221;
The 1970s New York City pamphlets <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/08/25/yale-students-get-ominous-grim-reaper-crime-survival-flyers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">warned</a> tourists, “The best advice we can give you is this: Until things change, stay away from New York City if you possibly can.”
The New York pamphlets were widely condemned at the time despite the high levels of crime in the city.
