Parents who were excited about the villain of the next “Toy Story” franchise film are about to be disappointed. Film director Andrew Stanton explained during a recent interview that the rumors aren’t technically true.
The teaser trailer, released in November, indicated that the villain this time around is a new tablet called “Lilypad,” which steals main character Bonnie’s attention as she forgoes playing to scroll. This recognizable storyline immediately resonated with parents and helped justify the idea of yet another “Toy Story” sequel.
“[Lilypad] is [the villain] to the toys because they’re understandably intimidated,” Stanton <a href="https://variety.com/2026/film/news/toy-story-5-aging-woody-lilypad-1236750424/">told</a> Variety while clarifying the iPad stand-in is not meant to be the overall bad guy. 
“She’s just the next phase in Bonnie’s life. She’s built like a toy in the sense that she wants to help the kid go forward, but she’s got very different skills and zero experience, whereas Jessie has nothing but experience and is probably unprepared for what to do.”
Co-director McKenna Harris told the outlet that several “Toy Story 5” creators pushed to turn Lilypad into a true villain, but that idea was ultimately shot down.
“Lots of people at the studio wanted her to be a villain, and it was so hard to strike the balance because I think we all come in with such loaded emotions towards devices. At the end of the day, it never made sense,” she said.  
Harris added that the filmmakers tried to make the narrative realistic, which in this case meant learning to coexist with tech. “We’re not getting rid of these devices, no matter how hard we try. I’m always going to have my phone. I’m probably going to be partially addicted to it. So it felt right for the toys to have to grapple with that nuance.”

While the minds behind “Toy Story 5” agree that tech is here to stay, they also revealed that the film relied on traditional animation techniques instead of straight AI.
“We’ve had machine learning since the beginning of Pixar as far as figuring things out for you occasionally, but it’s always been to make the tools work better. I have no interest in doing anything but working smarter, faster with another artist,” Stanton said.
Harris agreed, telling Variety, “Pixar is a technology company first, and so things are changing. Pixar is figuring out how to change along with it. But as far as our process on ‘Toy Story 5’ went, we had to figure it out ourselves, mainly because ultimately, what you’re seeing on screen is the work of a lot of awesome artists.”
The voice cast for &#8220;Toy Story 5&#8221; includes Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack, who return to their roles of Woody, Buzz, and Jessie. Greta Lee voices Lilypad.
The official synopsis says, “The toys are back and this time, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs are challenged when they come face-to-face with Lilypad (voice of Greta Lee), a brand-new tablet device that arrives with her own disruptive ideas about what is best for their kid, Bonnie. Will playtime ever be the same?”
The full trailer was released on February 19. “Toy Story 5” hits theaters June 19.

Imagine an op-ed titled &#8220;Why I Hate Black People.&#8221; Imagine a TikTok confessional where a young woman lists, with practiced disdain, the reasons she finds deaf people insufferable or embarrassing in public. Both scenarios would demand a metaphorical public crucifixion, and that is the correct response.
Now swap in &#8220;children&#8221; for either of those groups, and you&#8217;ve described an <a href="https://www.salon.com/2015/10/07/im_a_baby_hater_and_im_not_sorry/">ordinary</a> Tuesday on the <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/discover/i-dont-like-kids">internet</a>.
A culture that prides itself on rooting out bigotry seemingly left one arena available for public contempt. Ironically, they are the smallest, weakest, most innocent, and least able to defend themselves. We have built an entire vocabulary for these supposedly despicable creatures. We have lovely new nicknames for them, such as &#8220;crotch goblin&#8221; or &#8220;semen demon.&#8221; These are some of the commonly used slurs designed to dehumanize children. Terms such as &#8220;child-free by choice&#8221; and &#8220;DINK&#8221; (dual income, no kids) have also been invented to tout one&#8217;s self-righteous status for choosing not to procreate.
This is actual bigotry. It meets every textbook definition. It dehumanizes a class of people on the basis of an immutable characteristic — a characteristic, incidentally, that every person sneering at it once possessed.
The 28-year-old who calls children &#8220;parasites&#8221; was, 28 years ago, a parasite by her own definition. Someone fed her, changed her, and taught her to read. She might even spend hours in therapy waxing on about how her imperfect parents ruined her life through those very sacrifices. This is the same type of person who finds herself annoyed by the number of children walking around Disney World.
We have taken the cultural sneer and codified it into law. The same civilization that demonizes children on social media insists the most defenseless among us can be killed at will. The unborn can be eliminated for any reason or none. They call that freedom of choice. Over 63 million American children have been killed in the womb since the Roe v. Wade decision. Worldwide, the running total is in the billions. There has never been a more thorough campaign of violence against any class of human beings in history, and we have rebranded it as &#8220;reproductive health.&#8221;
Just recently, the Supreme Court allowed the abortion pill to keep flowing through the mail. In <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/%E2%81%A8supreme-court-issues-major-decision-on-abortion-pill-deals-blow-to-pro-life-fight">Louisiana v. FDA</a>, the court left intact the Food and Drug Administration rules permitting mifepristone, the chemical agent now responsible for the majority of American abortions, to be prescribed over a telehealth call and dropped into a mailbox like a birthday card. When a civilization is shipping chemical death to young women&#8217;s doorsteps in unmarked envelopes, the mask has fallen entirely.
Some celebrate plummeting birth rates as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/population-panic-pushed-deadly-policies-the-truth-finally-comes-out">ecological progress</a>. They think it would be unforgivable to bring life into the world in its current form. What a staggeringly unsustainable point of view. People obviously had children throughout every era of human existence, or we would not be here today. 
Others simply do not care; they cannot see anything in their life past their next drink. They cheer for airlines that promise child-free cabins. They treat a baby crying on a flight as a moral failing on the parents&#8217; part. But a crying child is something far more important: a tiny human, brand-new to the world, doing the only thing she knows how to do.
We have built a culture that worships the unbothered self: autonomous, frictionless, infinitely optimized. Children are inconvenient to that god. They cry when you are tired. They need things when you are busy. They cannot be muted, blocked, or scheduled. They demand from you the one thing the modern American refuses to surrender: autonomy. So we have decided, quietly and then loudly, that the problem is them.
The demographers can show you the curve. Births are collapsing across the developed world. South Korea&#8217;s fertility rate has fallen below 0.8. Japan loses a city&#8217;s worth of people every year. Europe is graying into a museum, and the United States is not far behind. Humanity has a catastrophic population problem in addition to its spiritual rot. 
By contrast, Scripture paints a very different picture. &#8220;Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward&#8221; (Psalm 127:3). When the disciples tried to enforce a child-free zone around Jesus, he rebuked them sharply. &#8220;Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God&#8221; (Mark 10:14).
Charlie Kirk famously <a href="https://x.com/charliekirk11/status/1947489521056288935">argued</a>, “More people should get married young and have more kids than they can afford.” The idea of having more children than you can afford comes with a built-in subtext. It forces people to live for more than themselves. Having children gives someone a purpose outside themselves. The divine command to “be fruitful and multiply” drives people to love harder, earn more, and stop being so selfish. It also allows the legacy of humanity to continue well beyond any one lifetime. 
Maybe you had an awful childhood filled with parental abuse. This is all too common in modern society. Your upbringing could have been filled with trauma you rightfully wouldn’t wish upon others. You have the opportunity to be the generational change your family line needs. Abusive views on children win when they are not intentionally and forcefully refused and replaced. Have children, love them, protect them, and give them the life you wish you had been given.
One who intentionally chooses not to have children, or who discourages others from doing so, is making a choice that defies history. Every single one of your ancestors, back to Adam, brought life into this world and continued doing so — hence you being on this planet now. The proud DINK believes she has chosen the better path. In reality, she has chosen hedonism.
A society that cannot tolerate its own young is a society that has lost the plot of its own existence. Every cathedral, every constitution, every poem worth reading was made by adults who were once helpless infants — adults who, at some point in their helplessness, were loved by someone who decided their existence was worth the inconvenience. Strip that out, and there is nothing left to inherit and no one to inherit it.
We need to look at the children in our pews and our stores and our parks and our family rooms and remember that they are not interruptions to our personal convenience. They are people. They are a blessing. They are the future.

Welcome to Maycember. If you’re a parent, you get this reference. In case you’re unaware of the social media term, it’s a reference to a whirlwind of deadlines and holidays: all the plays, recitals, field trips, projects due, tests and quizzes, student council elections, teacher’s appreciation week (ironically the same week as Mother’s Day weekend), Memorial Day weekend, and finally the end of the school year. It’s a lot.
I was recently a chaperone for our school choir’s annual competition, including over 50 fourth through eighth graders. We leave the school before 7 a.m., they compete, enjoy a Jersey Mike’s sandwich picnic, and spend half a day at Universal Studios Hollywood for junk food and rides. 
It’s controlled chaos, but our school enforces a few things that make it easier on chaperones. First, no phones except to text mom and dad. Second, dress code; it’s a parochial school, so even though the kids can be in “street clothes,” they have a guideline of allowable attire. Third, the moms (and some brave dads) chaperoning have the authority to discipline, to an extent. Like, “if you do that again, you will miss this next ride,” or “put your phone away or I will tell the principal.” Ignoring these threats actually has consequences. 
These rules are possible because of the tight-knit community we have of 150 families who have chosen a school with basic rules derived from biblical beliefs and a concept of human dignity. These principles used to be more common throughout society. But now, they&#8217;re often lacking in our leaders and teachers.
Thankfully, I was encouraged throughout the day as my chaperone buddy and our assigned group of eight middle schoolers made our way through the park, maneuvering around crowds, waiting in lines, going on rides, and buying and eating lunch. Instead of passersby being oblivious to our existence, they were aware and engaging. Many times, I got a thumbs up, admiring smile, or verbal affirmation from total strangers at how we were communicating with and to the students. 
I’m pretty strict too.  You will often hear me telling my children and others, “Be aware of your surroundings.” 
“Say excuse me!” 
“Move to the right! The escalator is like the road.”
“Keep your hands to yourself.”
“Hold the door for that mama!”
Once, when waiting in line for the kids to order some hyper-sugary boba drink, I told them to all have their orders ready to go, told them to have card or cash in hand, and explained sales tax so they’d have the right amount. A couple behind us said, “Whoa, if only more adults had the same level of preparedness. This is so nice to see!” We were a walking advertisement for decency, and maybe even our school. 
Social awareness has gotten worse, especially since the pandemic. Humans, particularly children, weren’t spending time in public. What used to be socially normal interactions became so rare that almost everyone we came across was either afraid to see us, or us to see them — as if their presence outside of their homes was going to be judged. We started judging instead of engaging.
We should go back to a culture of encouraging people to be considerate, socially aware human beings. Hold the door open for someone, walk down the street without looking down at your phone, chat with strangers, help a mom, and, heck, shame a kid for cutting in line, talking back to an adult, or acting dumb. 
Bring back thoughtful kids, and bring back adults who aren&#8217;t afraid to guide them in the right direction.

The School Trip That Became A Wake-Up Call About Modern Parenting

Summer is coming. Do you know where your children are?
Chances are you do because they haven’t left your sight. They are sitting at home, staring at a screen, scrolling through TikTok videos, texting friends, and gaming the hours away.
As researchers have documented at length, most especially in Jonathan Haidt&#8217;s &#8220;The Anxious Generation,&#8221; screens have contributed to an anxiety epidemic, fractured attention spans, and increasing emotional fragility in American children.
The answer to this crisis is not merely to cut down on screen time, but to replace screen hours with tangible, immersive, unstructured time in the natural world.
Author Richard Louv coined the term “nature-deficit disorder” to describe how less time in nature harms modern-day children’s health, development, and wellbeing. But it’s not enough to simply get kids outside. Children don’t need to spend another week at an organized wilderness camp or to enroll in an additional sport. This only takes children out of their digital box to put them into a more physical one.
What children most need this summer is, well, nothing.
Every day this summer, have your kids spend at least one hour outside. No structure. No agenda. No goal. Let them climb trees, make up games, roll in grass, and be bored. If they do that, here’s what will happen.
First, they will slowly recover their attention spans. In Haidt’s research, he found a clear link between social media use on the one hand and fragmented attention and reduced sustained focus on the other.
While extended screen time <a href="https://screentimeinstitute.org/the-impact-of-screen-time-on-childrens-cognitive-development/">stunts</a> the ability to focus, being outside does the opposite. Sometimes, this starts with boredom. Unable to satisfy the urge for distraction with a swipe of the finger, kids outside are encouraged to think. They will notice details they had been too distracted to see before. They will build worlds and invent games from their own imaginations instead of accepting the pre-packaged slop of the internet.
The brick wall they used to ignore outside becomes the rampart of a fortress. Never-before-noticed outdoor furniture covers become the perfect hideaway. The spiderweb in the side yard is no web at all, but an enchanted passageway only the most courageous dare cross.
In days, you’ll notice the once glossy-eyes of your phone-addicted child become full of life.
Second, unstructured time outdoors yields resiliency and independence. Too often in our suburbanized lives, we have professionalized play. Kids are directed to sports, games, and activities with rules they did not create, structures to which they must conform, and parents and coaches always watching. This overly structured life may shield children from present difficulties or even teach them valuable lessons, but it robs them of opportunities to think outside the box and traverse challenges on their own in the long term.
When kids are outside, they’re exposed to the elements. They run and they fall. They get dirty and they scrape their knees. Then, they learn to get back up and keep running. They get a little turned around and have to remember which way home is. They take risks, learn with every misstep, and begin to put experiential knowledge into practice. Without parents watching, they feel free to make mistakes. And they also know if they do, they will have to try to fix them themselves. In short, they learn to become young men and women.
Finally, children who spend time outdoors learn to love the natural world around them. Kids who grow up hiking, fishing, and gazing at the mountains learn that the greatest trees were never planted, the best roads aren’t paved, and the comfort of air conditioning can never beat the beauty of the open sky.
But you don&#8217;t need wilderness to spark wonder. Even in suburbia, a backyard, community garden, or neighborhood park can teach kids to love creation. And if you decide to drive outside the city for some extra breathing room, all the better. No matter the method, know that kids who experience God’s creation are more likely to be good stewards of it.
One hour outside: That’s all it takes. So this summer, offer your kids the freedom to play without a plan. Give them room to experience life outdoors. Let’s raise a generation that can reconnect with the natural world and just be kids again.

Millennials are rejoicing as a staple of their childhood will make a triumphant return this summer.
Pizza Hut just announced that their “Book It!” summer reading program, which encourages kids to read more books in exchange for free pizza, will be making a comeback. The restaurant announced the news on social media last week.
&#8220;SUMMER OF STORIES IS BACK!” the post caption said, adding that enrollment begins today, May 1. &#8220;Get ready to turn reading time into pizza time! This summer, keep your kids&#8217; reading, learning, and loving books… all while earning FREE pizza.&#8221;

The free program will reward young readers who hit their milestones by providing them with digital Reading Award Certificates, which are redeemable for a free, one-topping Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut. Students can earn up to one free pizza per month.
The promo is available for students in grades preschool through 6th, but commenters insist it should be extended to adults, too.
“Millennials need an adult version! Some of us are still readers because of this program!” one reaction said.
“Can us Gen X and millennials get this back for us!!! Us big kid need pizza too,” a second person echoed.
“Thank you so much for bringing this program back! I have a 1st grader who we&#8217;ve been expressing the importance of reading so having this program as an incentive is helpful,” another person said.
“We are so excited! The nostalgia that our kiddo gets to participate!” another person wrote.
The Book It! program began following a 1984 initiative from President Ronald Reagan calling for more businesses to promote education. It was created by Arthur Gunther, the president of Pizza Hut at the time, and marketing executive Bud Gates, per The New York Times. More than 70 million children have participated in the program, resulting in 1.5 billion free pizzas being given out as rewards.

Millennials Celebrate A Childhood Staple Making A Comeback

Instead of pointing fingers at permissive judges or poor mental health for the horrific mass shooting in Shreveport, a writer for New York Magazine has decided to blame … the patriarchy.
The outlet claimed that 31-year-old U.S. Army veteran Shamar Elkins, the man accused of killing eight children, including seven of his own, was the victim of a society that believes women belong to men.
“It is tempting to treat Elkins’s actions as the isolated incident of a madman. But poor mental health is never a reasonable explanation for attempting to execute one’s wife and children,” <a href="https://www.thecut.com/article/shreveport-killing-shamar-elkins-mental-health-patriarchy.html">wrote</a> Brittney Cooper, a Cut contributor who “writes about race and systems of power.”
“Patriarchy offers a better explanation for this violence,” she went on. “Patriarchy teaches men that women and children belong to them, that they are property that men get to have, as a male rite of passage. Men are taught, in what bell hooks famously called a ‘white supremacist capitalist patriarchy,’ to measure their worth and value by the size of their bank account, the size of their genitals, and the size of their families. These are forms of toxic self-value, predicated as they are on women and children having no agency or dreams of their own.”
Cooper went on to lament “the rise of the manosphere” and “a nation being led by a group of right-wing extremists with Neanderthal ideas about gender and sexuality.”
“Men who kill their wives and children are not just bad apples who needed a free month of BetterHelp. These killings are the natural outcome of a country enamored with patriarchy and determined to make sure that men can freely dominate women,” she insists.
Readers on social media pushed back strongly on this theory.
“Well you couldn&#8217;t make it about racism, so I guess Patriarchy seemed like a good idea. Though I bet if you tried you could make it about racism and how mostly female mental health professionals won&#8217;t take on poor Black male clients. Of course then, no patriarchy. Tough,” one sarcastic commenter <a href="https://x.com/thevanosam/status/2046572431159038339">wrote</a>.
“The race is inconvenient, so we switch to a gender motive. He was a criminal, a gun criminal no less. But instead of being locked up, the people that screech constantly about gun violence, went easy on him as they always do. It’s a story about leftist policies causing more death,” another person <a href="https://x.com/occhipig/status/2046549453838897514">added</a>.
Elkins, who appeared to be targeting his own “descendants,” opened fire in three different homes across Shreveport on April 19. He was shot and killed by police after he attempted to carjack a vehicle to escape.
Shreveport officials described the shooting as domestic violence, saying Elkins shot the mother of his children and another woman, as well as his seven children and one of their cousins, per <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2026/04/21/shamar-elkins-shreveport-louisiana-shooter/89710200007/">USA Today</a>. 
The outlet noted that Elkins married Shaneiqua Pugh in April 2024. A woman named Christina Snow sued Elkins for child support and was granted joint custody of their child, Sariahh, in 2017. Sariahh was one of the victims of the shooting.

Outrage erupted this week after a gay Grammy Award-winning singer appeared to mock his baby who cried out for his mom in a viral video.
A <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DXFxEo1key5/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading">video posted Wednesday</a> by country singer Shane McAnally shows a baby being asked if he wants his “dada” or “papa” before he begins crying after being told “there is no mama.” McAnally, who has won four Grammy Awards, has previously made fun of his baby for being “homophobic.”
“Hey, hey.  Who do you want? Dada or Papa?” McAnally’s baby is asked in the video before he appears to reply “mama&#8221; as the men laugh.
“No, Mama, do you want Dada or Pop?” the baby is asked again. “Who do you want? Dada or Pop?”
The baby again appears to ask for his mother before the man says, “There is no mama. I&#8217;m so sorry.&#8221; After the baby starts crying, the two men laugh at the reaction as they tell him he has &#8220;two choices,&#8221; but no mother. The video was captioned “who’s gonna tell him?” with the hashtags “comedy” and “standup.”
The video quickly racked up tens of thousands of views after it was posted to X and hundreds of comments on Instagram with many criticizing the men for laughing at the baby’s desire for his mom.
“The most horrifying video I&#8217;ve ever seen in my life,” said Daily Wire host Michael Knowles.
“This video ignites disgust and anger on a primal level. If you don’t feel it, you’re broken. This baby just wants Mommy,” <a href="https://x.com/robbystarbuck/status/2044951048352133273">said</a> conservative commentator Robby Starbuck. “The gleeful way these guys respond to the sad baby is just evil. I’ve seen this cry before, and the sweet embrace of Mom as she runs in. Babies need their Mom!”
Another post from December 2025 pinned to McAnally’s Instagram features a video with the baby making a weird face when he is told he has “two dads.” The post is captioned “6 week old homophobic baby.”
“This is not the first time Tony winning musician Shane McAnally has made a joke out of his son&#8217;s instinctive desire for his mother, rather than two fathers,” said Concerned Women for America. “Children deserve better than this.”

A human rights tribunal in British Columbia recently <a href="https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/barry-neufeld-former-chilliwack-bc-trustee-pay-hate-speech-tribunal-2slgbtq-9.7098536">fined</a> a man $750,000 for public statements he made opposing a school board’s promotion of gender ideology. The tribunal found his comments, speeches, and social media posts brought &#8220;injury to their dignity, feelings, and self-respect.&#8221; The same tribunal <a href="https://thenewamerican.com/world-news/canadian-womans-former-landlady-fined-10000-for-saying-transphobic-things-to-her/">fined</a> a woman $10,000 for privately disagreeing with a friend’s gender transition.
In Canada, enforcing gender ideology comes at a steep cost: the suppression of free speech, the erosion of medical integrity, and harm to the wellbeing — perhaps even the future fertility — of young Canadians. And it is all justified as a necessary sacrifice for the “greater good” of a tolerant society, an ideal now woven into Canada’s national identity.
The scientific evidence against so-called gender transition, however, is mounting. Most countries around the world are beginning to realize it — except Canada.
In 2024, the United Kingdom moved to <a href="https://londondaily.com/the-indefinite-ban-on-puberty-blockers-for-minors">ban</a> puberty blockers outright. Australia’s state of Queensland <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2025/oct/28/queenslands-controversial-puberty-blocker-ban-overturned-by-supreme-court">prohibited</a> puberty blockers in January, while New Zealand <a href="https://www.health.govt.nz/regulation-legislation/puberty-blockers">imposed</a> strict controls in November. In February, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons <a href="https://www.plasticsurgery.org/documents/health-policy/positions/2026-gender-surgery-children-adolescents.pdf">released</a> a position statement on gender surgery, warning against its potential harms.
Yet every Canadian health agency claims affirmation is the default solution for gender dysphoria. The Canadian Pediatric Society recommends accepting one’s gender identity as valid — even <a href="https://nationalpost.com/health/canadas-pediatricians-advised-to-support-affirming-gender-questioning-six-year-olds">six-year-olds</a>. The same organization explicitly <a href="https://nationalpost.com/opinion/canadian-paediatric-society-vows-to-continue-prescribing-puberty-blockers">dismissed</a> the findings of the Cass Review, a landmark <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/im-bloody-angry-j-k-rowling-scorches-critics-in-the-wake-of-cass-review-on-child-gender-transitions">study</a> that discovered the weak evidentiary basis for puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.
Such stark defiance of evidence-based care is nothing short of negligence — not surprising for a country that now includes <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/movement-barrels-forward-to-euthanize-12-year-old-children-in-canada">death</a> in its definition of health care. But negligence alone is an insufficient explanation. Canada is not catching up with the rest of the world to dismiss medical transition because their commitment to it is rooted in ideology, not science. And it is propagated by elites through a centralized system of top-down planning.
First, legislation enforces affirmation of gender identity. Canada <a href="https://globalnews.ca/news/8434497/conversion-therapy-ban-canada-royal-assent/">passed a ban</a> on so-called conversion therapy in 2021, defined as a practice designed to “change a person’s gender identity to cisgender.” But the “conversion therapy” of changing a person’s body to match their gender identity — which is defined in a circular way — is allowed. In fact, it’s effectively mandated. Those convicted under this law can receive up to five years in prison. There are no carve-outs for adults seeking sex-affirming therapy to help them with gender dysphoria.
Where there is no law directly prohibiting speech, Canadian courts create one. The latest examples both come from British Columbia: the man fined $750,000 for public statements and the woman fined $10,000 for a private conversation.
Such outrageous penalties have a chilling effect on speech. Absent any serious dissent, the monolithic worldview promoted in Canadian schools, hospitals, and traditional media will continue unchallenged. And the children don’t stand a chance.
Consider Julia Malbogat, a Toronto mom who <a href="https://www.todaysparent.com/blogs/opinion/stop-asking-me-if-my-eight-year-old-trans-kid-is-just-going-through-a-phase/">wrote</a> in 2021 about her daughter “coming out” as transgender. During a family trip to their cottage, her daughter said that she’s a boy, to which Julia replied with a simple “ok.” When asked how she knew, the child pointed to the school’s Rainbow Alliance, a grade 4-6 club teaching “sexual and gender diversity.” Julia dismissed the possibility her child was mistaken and noted that surgery wouldn’t be an option until 16. By then, she assumed the dysphoria would be “insistent, persistent, and consistent” enough to justify medical intervention.
But how could someone’s gender dysphoria be anything except persistent if they are affirmed from the moment it is expressed? Gender-confused children rarely hear a serious alternative from schools or clinicians — though some later wish they had. Ask the detransitioners.
The largest <a href="https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/26895269.2025.2538744">study</a> of detransitioners in Canada and the United States suggests that many who reversed a gender transition wish doctors “took a more neutral approach to care.” The participants reported feelings of alienation, emphasizing the high social cost of detransition. One woman <a href="https://www.bing.com/search?q=detransitioners%20ghosted%20&amp;qs=n&amp;form=QBRE&amp;sp=-1&amp;ghc=1&amp;lq=0&amp;pq=detransitioners%20ghost&amp;sc=6-21&amp;sk=&amp;cvid=4BE657D5CF8D46BFA48C72A857DF33F8">said</a> she was “ghosted” by the doctor who did her mastectomy. Treating gender identity as immutable and patients as infallible leaves minors, who are already going through emotional and physical changes, at risk of serious harm.
Look no further than their chosen cultural symbols. Publicly funded spaces across the country are decked out in pride flags, including city halls, legislative assemblies, walkways, libraries. This imagery is so pervasive in places of cultural importance that a first-time visitor might mistake it for the national flag.
In the absence of their rich traditions, Canadians have united around a new vision of the good. This new orthodoxy is summed up well in Bill C-4’s preamble, which states that conversion therapy “propagates” the myth that “cisgender identity is to be preferred over other gender identities.” While Canada elevates the dubious idea of an inner, gendered essence, it denounces the view that our bodies are essential to who we are.
That is a philosophical claim, not a scientific one. Science can’t disprove it.
Until Canada re-examines its commitment to this new orthodoxy, it will keep ignoring the warnings — until the damage is too widespread to dismiss.

Roblox, the most popular online gaming site in the world, announced new age-based accounts on Monday as the company seeks to address numerous allegations of sex predators targeting children on the platform.
Roblox <a href="https://about.roblox.com/newsroom/2026/04/introducing-roblox-kids-and-select-accounts">introduced</a> new age-based accounts for children under 9 and for children between 9 and 15, which the company says will limit the games children can access and how they can chat with others online. The new accounts will also give parents more oversight over their children&#8217;s gaming and chat activities, according to Roblox. The new age-based accounts are set to officially launch in June.
&#8220;When they roll out in early June, these accounts will more closely align content access, communication settings, and parental controls with a user’s age. We’re also establishing an ongoing selection process for games available to users under 16,&#8221; Roblox said. &#8220;This update will bring age-checks, account-level defaults, content ratings, ongoing moderation, and expanded parental controls together into a unified framework for younger users.&#8221;
The move comes after Roblox has faced intense scrutiny over its child safety measures and has been accused of standing by as child sex predators took advantage of the game&#8217;s realistic interactive settings and chat functions to prey on children. The platform, which boasts over 80 million daily users worldwide, allows gamers to develop their own games or play games developed by other users. Roblox is especially popular among children, with the company claiming that around half of all American kids under 16 are active on the platform.
The platform&#8217;s interactive concept has exposed children to sexually explicit content, exploitation, and grooming by predatory adults, according to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who sued Roblox in November. The <a href="https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/images/press/Petition_0.pdf">lawsuit</a> alleges that Roblox has deceived parents about the safety of the game when, &#8220;In reality, Roblox is a sprawling and unregulated digital playground that is overrun by predators and saturated with sexual content.&#8221;
When the changes announced by Roblox go into effect, it will mark the first time the platform has set up specific account barriers to separate children under 16 from adult users. Parents will also be given expanded oversight of their children&#8217;s accounts, including the ability to monitor and manage chats and block specific games they don&#8217;t want their children playing.
Alleigh Marré, the executive director of the American Parents Coalition — which raises awareness about activists agendas and corporate interests influencing children — told The Daily Wire that Roblox&#8217;s move isn&#8217;t enough to address the issues on its platform. Marré argued that the age-gated accounts are just another &#8220;toolset,&#8221; not an actual fix.
&#8220;Tools without accountability don&#8217;t solve systemic problems,&#8221; Marré said. &#8220;Now, that doesn&#8217;t mean that it&#8217;s not going to help parents, but it&#8217;s just another dashboard. So, without Roblox taking some responsibility and putting some controls on the back end with teeth, it really doesn&#8217;t do anything except foist responsibility from a platform they&#8217;ve created onto parents.&#8221;
For its new age-gated system, Roblox will rely on an artificial intelligence tool that estimates the user&#8217;s age based on a photo the user uploads to the platform. Parents can also manually verify their child&#8217;s age when they sign up for a Roblox account.
Under the new guidelines, kids between the ages of 5 and 8 would only be allowed to use a &#8220;Roblox Kids&#8221; account, which would only give them access to games with &#8220;a Minimal or Mild content maturity label,&#8221; Roblox said. Under the game&#8217;s <a href="https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/8862768451604-Content-Maturity-Labels">rating system</a>, &#8220;Minimal&#8221; includes games that could &#8220;contain occasional mild violence, light unrealistic blood, and/or occasional mild fear.&#8221; &#8220;Mild&#8221; games could &#8220;contain repeated mild violence, heavy unrealistic blood, mild crude humor, and/or repeated mild fear.&#8221;
Kids under 9 would also have all online chat communications disabled by default. Parents, however, can turn on chat functions for a &#8220;Roblox Kids&#8221; account, which limits communications to &#8220;in-game chat with other users under 13-years-old&#8221; and users who are designated by parents as &#8220;trusted friends.&#8221;
Once a user turns 9-year-old, he is automatically moved up to a &#8220;Roblox Select&#8221; account, which will gives users between 9 and 15 access to a larger library of games, including games that fall under the &#8220;Moderate&#8221; maturity level. Roblox defines &#8220;Moderate&#8221; games as those which could &#8220;contain moderate violence, light realistic blood, moderate crude humor, unplayable gambling content, and/or moderate fear.&#8221;
Marré told The Daily Wire that the age-gated accounts still pose risks to children.
&#8220;When a child turns 9, they go from the entry-level Roblox to the 9- to 15-year-old bracket, which is a very wide maturity swath. You&#8217;re talking about a fourth grader with a sophomore in high school. That&#8217;s a very big difference,&#8221; Marré said. &#8220;And that&#8217;s if everybody is playing by the rules. That doesn&#8217;t stop a bad guy from creating a profile posing as a 14-year-old and reaching out to kids because now these bad guys are funneled into the &#8216;safe space&#8217; for kids too.&#8221;
Users 16 and older won&#8217;t see any changes to their accounts, Roblox said.
&#8220;Together, these updates are part of our ongoing work to build age-appropriate experiences for all users, apply safety-by-default protections for younger users, and give parents more visibility and control over how their children use Roblox,&#8221; the company added.

A recent YouGov poll found that 47% of Americans <a href="https://yougov.com/en-us/articles/54403-what-americans-think-about-overpopulation-birth-rates-and-children">view overpopulation</a> in the United States as a “very or somewhat serious problem,” while only 41% say the same about low birth rates.
The consequences of such inverted priorities are already catastrophic. America’s total fertility rate has collapsed to roughly 1.6 children per woman — far below the 2.1 replacement level needed to sustain a population without immigration.
But don’t share those statistics with Sunny Hostin over at “The View.”

“It’s really reckless to be suggesting that people should have children,” said Hostin. “&#8230;when you now know, in this country, there is this affordability crisis and for a two-person household — a married household — you need over $400,000 for childcare.”
Now, you may think planning an armored car heist à la Michael Mann’s 1995 classic “Heat,” is reckless, but according to Hostin, I need <a href="https://alltherightmovies.com/feature/25-interesting-facts-about-heat/">$1.6 million</a> to take care of my eight children. Anything less and they <a href="https://x.com/theblaze/status/2038665904431497635">would be</a> impoverished, uneducated, homeless, and starving.
A taken-aback Ana Navarro then blurted out, “over the lifetime of a child, or what? A year?”
“No, a year,” Hostin said.
Hostin’s fearmongering would be laughable if it weren’t so effective. In April, the CDC announced that America reached a <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/vsrr/vsrr043.pdf">record low</a> in births in 2025, down 1% since 2024 and 23% since 2007. With an estimated population of 342 million, the United States witnessed <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/vsrr/vsrr043.pdf">3,606,400</a> births last year. In 1966, however, America saw a similar number, <a href="https://www2.census.gov/library/publications/1967/demographics/P25-368.pdf">3,661,000</a> births, drawn from a population of less than 200 million.
Hostin was born in October 1968, six months after Stanford professor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/one-of-the-most-evil-men-in-history-just-died">Paul Ehrlich</a> published his landmark book, “The Population Bomb.” When every single one of Ehrlich’s predictions — from mass starvation in the 1970s to global mineral shortages in the 1980s — turned out wrong, he was awarded a MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant in 1990.
Only 10% of Americans held a favorable opinion of Ehrlich at the time of his death, according to <a href="https://yougov.com/en-us/articles/54403-what-americans-think-about-overpopulation-birth-rates-and-children">YouGov</a> — not too shabby given that only 20% of respondents knew who he was. And yet a full 100% of us have been living in his world — or at least his narrative — ever since he sounded the false alarm that human beings are a form of pollution.
The MacArthur Foundation tipped its cap to Ehrlich’s checkerspot butterfly expertise, but anyone can study the “behavior of an invertebrate population”. His true genius lay in marketing to other spineless populations. 
“A pioneer in alerting the public to the problems of overpopulation,” the award <a href="https://www.macfound.org/fellows/class-of-1990/paul-r-ehrlich">citation</a> says. 
Paul Ehrlich may have been perennially wrong as a scientist, but he had a generational talent for scaring the wits out of dimwitted media personalities, craven politicians, cunning public health authorities, unimaginative screenwriters, and over-imaginative teachers. Exactly the type of marks a good con artist would need to capture if he were going to advance a narrative at war with reality. 
It worked.
On the same episode of “The View,” Sara Haines said, “The world has over 8 billion people. We no longer need to force people to procreate and pump out babies. We have arrived.&#8221;
Socially, the fallout is devastating. Smaller families mean fewer siblings, weaker extended kinship networks, and the erosion of the “social capital” that once bound communities together. Low fertility <a href="https://www.jec.senate.gov/public/_cache/files/635c69dc-6a5a-467b-b7b0-3ab906fb4a94/the-consequences-of-declining-fertility-for-social-capital.pdf">reduces</a> community participation, trust, and mutual support — the very glue of civil society. 
Militarily, the danger is existential. Fewer young Americans mean a smaller pool of potential recruits at the exact moment great-power competition intensifies. The Pentagon already struggles with recruitment shortfalls; an aging, childless society cannot field the force required to deter adversaries like China. 
Economically, the math is brutal. A shrinking native-born workforce cannot support the entitlement programs built for a growing population. Social Security and Medicare face insolvency as the ratio of workers to retirees plummets. Every country that has experienced persistent sub-replacement fertility has seen its GDP growth slow, innovation shrivel, and burden younger generations with crushing tax loads to fund the vacations of the old.
The problem with effective propaganda campaigns is that they are hard to reverse. South Korea serves as a warning. In 1960, the average South Korean woman had six children. After decades of state-backed “family planning” and “voluntary” sterilization services lovingly provided by USAID, fertility fell below replacement and eventually below 1. The Clinton State Department <a href="https://ciaotest.cc.columbia.edu/olj/gli/gli_sep1998.pdf">lauded</a> South Korean population control as one of America’s standout achievements.
No 20th-century public intellectual better apprehended how misanthropic an elite could be. Gilded Age robber barons were at least honest about their rapacious need for more; the postwar meritocrats of the 1960s thought themselves too enlightened for greed but enjoyed all that money just the same. Then, along came a Stanford butterfly researcher, insisting that your neighbors’ kids are hurting the environment, and if only you kept more resources for yourself, nature would heal.
A growing cohort of Americans, particularly young Americans, is waking up to the fact that Paul Ehrlich was wrong all along. And Sunny Hostin’s fearmongering, not the science, has always been the point. Gallup found that 43% of Americans aged 18-29 now say the ideal family will have more than 3 children — a <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/694640/americans-ideal-family-size-remains-above-two-children.aspx">13% jump</a> from the same cohort in 2011.
I remember the halcyon days of 2011 well. I welcomed my second daughter that year. Back then, the majority of my peers told pollsters that “Two is too many!” As Millennials settle into middle age, that number has plummeted by more than 20%. 
We are older and wise enough to know to turn the channel when “The View” comes on. Besides, chances are Michael Mann’s “Heat” is playing on some random cable channel at the very same time.

The U.S. fertility rate reached a record low in 2025, continuing a troubling trend as annual deaths are projected to exceed annual births in America within the next decade.
Total births per 1,000 American women aged 15-44 dropped to 53.1 last year, according to data released Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Last year also marked the first time in U.S. history that women in their late 30s had higher birth rates than women in their 20s, The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/us-news/why-the-u-s-fertility-rate-has-hit-a-record-low-13e7c2f8?mod=e2tw">reported</a>.
Recent <a href="https://x.com/BradWilcoxIFS/status/2042211547343450313/photo/1">projections</a> from the Congressional Budget Office warn that, beginning in 2033, there will be more deaths reported in the United States than births. After 2032, U.S. population growth will be entirely dependent on net immigration, according to the Congressional Budget Office&#8217;s projections. The United States recorded just 514,000 more births than deaths in 2025.

The U.S. fertility rate now stands at 1.57 births per woman, below the replacement level of 2.1 and among the lowest in the world. Data from 2023 showed that only eight countries, including Russia and China, had lower fertility rates than the United States. South Korea has the world&#8217;s lowest fertility rate at 0.80 births per woman in 2025, which was a slight <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2026/02/06/asia/south-korea-population-fertility-rate-intl-hnk-dst">increase</a> from 0.75 in 2024 and 0.72 in 2023. The United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, and Spain also have lower fertility rates than the United States.
A big part of the declining U.S. fertility rate is the continued sharp decrease in births among young women and teenage girls. Since 2010, the birth rate among women between the ages of 20 and 24 dropped from nearly 100 births per 1,000 women to just over 50 births. For girls between 15 and 19, the birth rate has plummeted 72% since 2007.
&#8220;People are waiting longer to enter parenthood and probably want to make sure that things are set in their lives before they do so. There might be a lot of uncertainty, and that might not be good for a society in general,” Wendy Manning, co-director of Bowling Green State University&#8217;s National Center for Family &amp; Marriage Research, told the Journal.
The Trump administration has expressed concern about America&#8217;s declining birth rate and has enacted policies to encourage more Americans to have babies. President Donald Trump&#8217;s &#8220;Big, Beautiful Bill,&#8221; passed by Congress last year, sets up $1,000 Trump accounts for babies born between 2025 and 2028 and increases the child tax credit.
