Recently ousted &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; anchor Scott Pelley registered record-low self awareness level — and gave the impression that he&#8217;d never before encountered a normal human being — during a New York Times interview over the weekend.
Pelley, who was fired &#8220;for cause&#8221; by &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; executive producer Nick Bilton after raging at the network&#8217;s new leadership, expressed his complete bewilderment that new top exec Bari Weiss would ask his former colleagues at CBS News about bias in their coverage.

&#8220;She, I am told, said something to the effect of, &#8216;Why do you think the country thinks you&#8217;re biased?'&#8221; Pelley explained, adding, &#8220;But she didn&#8217;t offer any kind of a metric.&#8221;
Pelley went on to suggest that there was no reason for Weiss to even ask such a question, saying, &#8220;Why do you think so? Do you have a poll? Is there market research? What are you talking about?&#8221;
AllSides.com, a media watchdog organization, rates CBS News reporting tends to &#8220;<a href="https://www.allsides.com/news-source/cbs-news-online-media-bias">lean left</a>,&#8221; and Pew Research data shows that, accordingly, more Democrats than Republicans view CBS News as a <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/journalism/2025/06/10/the-political-gap-in-americans-news-sources/">trustworthy source</a> of information.
While it&#8217;s certainly possible that Pelley never saw the AllSides assessment or the Pew Research data, it&#8217;s unlikely that he was unaware of the lawsuit, filed by President Donald Trump against &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; over edits made to a pre-election interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024.
CBS News parent company Paramount paid out $16 million over the Harris interview, which Trump and numerous others alleged had been deceptively edited to clean up several of her &#8220;word-salad&#8221; answers. The interview aired in early October 2024, just weeks prior to the election — and Paramount, without issuing an apology, agreed to the $16 million settlement in July 2025.
Pelley&#8217;s first post-ouster interview raised a number of questions, particularly after he also claimed that he&#8217;d &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/scott-pelley-takes-military-cosplay-to-new-level-in-deluded-nyt-interview">been in combat</a>&#8221; for the United States and claimed that watching people he&#8217;d worked closely with lose their jobs at CBS News was like personally witnessing the &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/scott-pelley-compares-cbs-ouster-to-family-being-murdered-in-over-the-top-interview">murders</a>&#8221; of close friends and family members.

Pelley was terminated &#8220;for cause&#8221; just days earlier by executive producer Nick Bilton, after blowing up at the network&#8217;s new leadership under Bari Weiss — and he got emotional when he responded to some of the comments President Donald Trump had made about him.

&#8220;Stupid, I can take that. Stiff? Yeah, probably,&#8221; Pelley conceded, and then clearly struggled to get control of his emotions as he continued. &#8220;Don&#8217;t care about the country? I&#8217;ve never worn the uniform, but I’ve been in combat for this country. In Afghanistan and Iraq, Kuwait. Been shot at. Spent nights in fox holes filling up with water in the desert.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m not aware that the President of the United States has ever done any of those things for his country,&#8221; Pelley continued, still choked up a bit as he added, &#8220;Please correct me if I&#8217;m wrong.&#8221;
He went on to argue that people became journalists because they &#8220;love the First Amendment&#8221; and because they truly love the United States.
&#8220;While all the other descriptions that the president used about me might be applicable, not that one,&#8221; he said, his voice breaking.
During the same interview, Pelley claimed that the firings at CBS News — his and several others — were like the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/scott-pelley-compares-cbs-ouster-to-family-being-murdered-in-over-the-top-interview">murders</a> of close friends and family members.

Pelley, 68, conceded during a New York Times interview that it may have been a stretch to claim that new boss Bari Weiss had &#8220;murdered&#8221; his show — but he then went on to argue that the mass terminations were like the &#8220;murders&#8221; of family members.
&#8220;No one saw the Black Thursday massacre coming,&#8221; Pelley said, arguing that even after he blew up at network execs, it never occurred to him that he might be fired for doing so: &#8220;Some reporter I turned out to be. I just didn’t connect the dots.&#8221;

&#8220;The night before, Tanya and I were at the Emmy Awards, and we won two Emmys. Within hours, all of those people have been wiped out, and one-third of our correspondents have been fired,” Pelley continued. 
“My colleagues and I have worked together 10, 20, 30 years. We travel together. We dine together. We go into literal combat together.&#8221;
&#8220;So, these bonds are pretty tight, and when somebody wipes out, murders, a large number of your family members, people are desperate for some explanation, and as you and I sit here today, there still has been none,&#8221; he added. &#8220;It’s like your spouse being murdered.&#8221;
Near tears, he added, &#8220;I am not emotional about this because I have lost this job. I’ve done it for a long time. I’ve had the greatest experiences. But the people I leave behind, treated in this way? That breaks my heart, and it’s going to take me a long time to get over it.&#8221;
Pelley was also mocked for saying he&#8217;d gone &#8220;into literal combat&#8221; with his CBS colleagues, as people referred to him on X as a &#8220;low-rent Brian Williams.&#8221; Another joked, &#8220;Old Blood ‘n Guts Pelley we used to call him in the trenches.&#8221;
New &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; executive producer Nick Bilton was the one who fired Pelley &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/longtime-60-minutes-reporter-fired-after-attacks-on-new-leadership">for cause</a>,&#8221; citing insubordination, but Weiss made it clear during a following staff meeting that she supported the move.

Comedian and HBO host Bill Maher pushed back immediately on claims from Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) that CBS News was leaning hard toward President Donald Trump.
Murphy claimed during a Friday evening appearance with Maher that when CBS News axed longtime &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; anchor Scott Pelley, it was just further proof that the Trump administration was pushing to implement a &#8220;censorship state&#8221; and take full control of the media.

&#8220;That’s a big charge that you just made, that &#8217;60 Minutes&#8217; itself and CBS itself is now completely MAGA,&#8221; Maher pushed back. &#8220;I don’t see it that way.&#8221;
Murphy backpedaled slightly, saying, &#8220;It’s not completely MAGA.&#8221;
&#8220;Well, it’s kind of what you said,&#8221; Maher pointed out.
&#8220;But he is clearly intent on installing people who will tell his story and will keep his critics off the air,&#8221; Murphy claimed.
&#8220;But let me ask you this question. I watch &#8217;60 Minutes&#8217; every week. I have since I was a kid,&#8221; Maher continued to press, arguing that the media was making a story out of nothing. &#8220;If I didn’t hear all the buzz in the media … would I ever notice that it was any different? I don’t think I would.&#8221;
&#8220;Part of what the allegation is, is that they are killing stories that would be embarrassing for the president,&#8221; Murphy insisted, adding, &#8220;So it’s hard to know what you’re missing in a censorship environment.&#8221;
Maher noted that he was still seeing stories that weren&#8217;t exactly flattering to Trump, suggesting that if the goal was to censor unfavorable stories, the network had thus far not been terribly successful in doing so.
&#8220;I’ve seen ones that are not very favorable to the president,&#8221; he said, repeating, &#8220;I don’t know if I would have noticed anything different if I hadn’t been reading about it &#8230; Companies change hands all the time … ‘Oh my God. 60 Minutes has a new cast!’ So does &#8216;Saturday Night Live.'&#8221;
Over laughter from the audience, Maher added, &#8220;I’m not going to [fret] until I see a smoking gun.&#8221;

This week, Scott Pelley got canned from CBS News for reportedly acting like a pompous jerk to the new executive producer of 60 Minutes.
I met Pelley only briefly 16 years ago, so I won’t pretend to know the man intimately. But the one memory I do have of him suddenly makes a lot of sense.
In the summer of 2010, I was working as an intern for CBSNews.com. As part of the program, the network would occasionally schedule informative sessions for us to learn more about the industry. One of those opportunities was a behind-the-scenes tour of the CBS Evening News.
This was a dream for me because I had been a fan of Katie Couric for years.
Sadly, Couric was on assignment that night. Some guy named Scott Pelley would be filling in.
A group of us were ushered into the control room during the broadcast, where directors and producers manage the ins and outs of the show and speak to the anchor during commercial breaks.
To be clear, I knew virtually nothing about TV news at the time. But even at 21 years old, I knew Pelley’s behavior was strange.
During one of the commercial breaks, he instructed the control room to gently zoom in on him as he removed his glasses and delivered his opening line. He even gave them a demonstration of what he planned to do — putting on his glasses, then removing them as he tilted his head up slowly and dramatically. As if he had very, very serious news to deliver and he was a very, very serious newsman.
A few of the guys in the control room exchanged knowing glances, as if to say, “What a douche.”
I was so confused. Either he needs his glasses to read the prompter, or he doesn’t, right?
Sure enough, the commercial break ended and Pelley acted out his schtick, putting his glasses back on, only to slowly remove them as the camera pushed in.
It was so phony, I remember it vividly to this day.
After posting my memory of Pelley on X yesterday, I learned that there is an entire Facebook page dedicated to Scott Pelley’s glasses. Apparently, he really loves taking them off, putting them on, putting them in his mouth, and waving them around.

Turns out he’s been creating a spectacle with his spectacles for years.
After my summer internship, I spent nearly a decade in TV news. It’s fair to say most anchors have a little bit of an ego (myself included, honestly.) It’s also not strange for anchors to have a specific way they like their shot to look. For example, and maybe this is too much information, but I always insisted my shot never be cropped right below my breasts because I didn’t like when it looked like my boobs were sitting on a shelf at the bottom of the screen.
But never once did I encounter an anchor who used a prop to make themselves seem smarter.
In fact, I’m starting to wonder whether Pelley’s glasses are even real.

CBS News fired longtime “60 Minutes” anchor Scott Pelley, making clear that the show would no longer be an agitprop outlet for the Left.
But without institutional control, what happens to the Left? What do they do next?
The answer? They move even farther to the Left.

The left-wing and mainstream media narrative today is that “60 Minutes” was a magical place filled with objective journalism. Then right-wing fire-breather Bari Weiss and her evil Zionist paymasters arrived, and now they&#8217;re firing stalwarts like old-style journalist Scott Pelley from “60 Minutes.” How dare they touch this bastion of journalistic integrity?
False. “60 Minutes” was never objective. It was always a Left-wing outlet. That&#8217;s the reason why the Left is angry that changes are being made.
They saw this as their institutional preserve and now that preserve has been violated. Like a naturally beautiful piece of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge being touched by human hands, it must not be.
They&#8217;ve been promoting the notion that Bari Weiss is some sort of flaming Right-winger. That&#8217;s crazy. I&#8217;m friends with Bari; she is not Right-wing on a huge number of issues. She is pro-LGBT, obviously. She is pro-choice, obviously. She used to describe herself as a center-left person. If you went back about 25 years, she&#8217;d be a moderate Democrat.
So what is the actual story here?
The key story here is the Democrats are losing control of a lot of their key institutions. If there&#8217;s any overarching sort of theme to the Trump era, it is that Democrats thought they had undeniable control of virtually every key institution in American life and now, one by one, that&#8217;s coming apart for them.
“60 Minutes” was considered the tip of the spear in the objective journalism universe.
Those of us who&#8217;ve been watching mainstream legacy media for a long time recognize that the so-called objective media is usually anything but objective; usually it is just a Left-leaning group of people who pretend to be objective.
Scott Pelley was fired. The reason he was fired is that there were changes made over at “60 Minutes.” Nick Bilton, a tech journalist and filmmaker, was appointed to shake up “60 Minutes” because the ratings were poor and there were problems with journalistic integrity.
Bilton was publicly accosted by Scott Pelley at a meeting where he introduced himself to the staff. This was after CBS had fired the previous executive producer, her deputy, and a couple of the show&#8217;s correspondents.
With absolute self-centered arrogance, Pelley called it Black Thursday.
That&#8217;s true for an enormous number of journalists and pseudo-journalists in the online space. They are simply narcissists; the only thing they regret about the camera is that it is not a mirror.
Bilton said Bari loves the institution, loves “60 Minutes.”
Pelley got up in full self-righteous mode, knowing, of course, that he was trying to get himself fired. Let&#8217;s be clear: that&#8217;s what he wanted. He wanted to be a martyr. If you&#8217;re going to have your airtime reduced, it’s better to be a martyr.
If you&#8217;re Colin Kaepernick and you&#8217;re about to get benched, much better that you go out protesting the national anthem.
So Pelley decided this was his moment of bravery and resistance. (Maybe they&#8217;ll make a movie about him.)
He said Bari was murdering “60 Minutes,” that she did not love this place, that she was trying to kill it; that she had no qualifications for her job.
It is incredible to me when people talk about qualifications in the journalistic world. The idea that journalism is a job for which you require a license or a qualification is ridiculous. It ain’t like being a heart surgeon.
Bari Weiss was an editor at the New York Times before she started The Free Press, one of the most successful independent journalistic endeavors in America. But she has no qualifications?
Yet Scott Pelley, who reads stuff from a teleprompter on camera, says she has no qualifications for her job.
Bilton wrote a letter that stated:

While I&#8217;m new to 60 Minutes, I&#8217;ve devoted my career to investigative journalism and storytelling. I started this job excited to collaborate and to benefit from the wisdom and experience of the 60 Minutes veterans, with you among them. For that reason, one of the first things I did in my new role was call you to talk and invite you to dinner.
It is a profound disappointment that you rejected that overture and chose ambush instead. Yesterday, you hijacked my first meeting with staff to disparage me, my qualifications, and my intentions with remarkable incivility and contempt. I welcome a diversity of viewpoints and respectful debate among the team, but this was nothing of the sort. Yesterday&#8217;s performative display of hostility enacted in front of the staff instead of in a civil, private conversation demonstrated that you have no interest in contributing to the future success of the show, or approaching my new tenure with a mind open to collaboration and progress. I am here to deliver first-in-class news programming, not to make headlines about newsroom drama.
I am eager to work alongside those who share this goal. Despite yesterday&#8217;s misconduct, I had hoped that in sitting down with you today we could find a path forward together. You made clear that you are not interested in such a path.
Your antipathy to the future of the show has come through loud and clear. And I have heard you. I therefore write on behalf of CBS News, Inc. (&#8220;CBS&#8221;) to inform you that your employment with CBS is terminated for cause effective immediately. Enclosed is your formal termination letter.</blockquote>
A great letter.
Applause for Nick Bilton. This alone means that his tenure has been worth it. This is how you should treat insubordination.
“60 Minutes” pretends that it is an openly objective institution. The notion that “60 Minutes” was a bastion of objective journalism is not true.
It’s another institution that is finally being remade to veer toward objectivity.
And the Left is panicking.

Trump explained his most recent battery of tests to Devine — a physical and a cognitive test — which he said he took out of an &#8220;obligation&#8221; to show the American people that he was more than fit for the job he was doing, and Devine asked whether the memory portions of the cognitive test were difficult.

Devine pivoted to Pelley then, noting that he&#8217;d interviewed former President Joe Biden just after special counsel Robert Hur had done so. And despite Hur&#8217;s assertion that Biden shouldn&#8217;t be charged in the classified documents case because he was an aging man with poor memory, Pelley&#8217;s interview — through a combination of softball questions and edits — obscured that from the public&#8217;s view.
&#8220;I think Scott Pelley’s got his own problems. He’s terrible,&#8221; Trump told Devine. &#8220;Look, Scott Pelley’s a stiff — and he’s afraid. And he’s part of this gang of crooked, stupid people that don’t care about our country. I watched that interview, that interview was a joke.&#8221;

Nick Bilton, the tech journalist and filmmaker recently named the new boss of “60 Minutes,” told Pelley that he was being fired after he aggressively &#8220;hijacked&#8221; a staff meeting to attack the new direction of CBS. Pelley, who has been with the network for decades, attacked Bilton’s qualifications during a staff meeting on Monday and <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/01/business/media/cbs-60-minutes-scott-pelley-nick-bilton.html">reportedly</a> ignored opportunities for private meetings with the new leadership. 
“Yesterday&#8217;s performative display of hostility enacted in front of the staff instead of in a civil, private conversation demonstrated that you have no interest in contributing to the future success of the show, or approaching my new tenure with a mind open to collaboration and progress,” Bilton wrote to Pelley. “I am here to deliver first-in-class news programming, not to make headlines about newsroom drama.”

Bilton said that Pelley “hijacked” his first meeting with staff to “disparage” him and responded to his efforts to reach out with “remarkable incivility and contempt.” 
“I welcome a diversity of viewpoints and respectful debate among the team, but this was nothing of the sort,” he said. 
During Bilton’s first meeting with staff, Pelley interrupted Bilton to say that Weiss was “murdering ‘60 Minutes,&#8221; according to a recording obtained by The New York Times.
“She does not love this place. She was brought in to kill it, and she’s been doing exactly that,” Pelley said of Weiss.
“She has no qualifications for her job; you have slender qualifications for this job,” he added. “The changes that she’s made at the ‘Evening News’ have been catastrophic, so why should we expect that any of this is going to be any better?”
Bilton responded by saying that he would be meeting with everyone, including Pelley, to discuss his plans for the show and that he wanted to focus on producing quality journalism. Pelley met with Bilton and other CBS executives on Tuesday, but that meeting did not go well. 
“Despite yesterday&#8217;s misconduct, I had hoped that in sitting down with you today we could find a path forward together,” Bilton wrote. “You made clear that you are not interested in such a path. Your antipathy to the future of the show has come through loud and clear. And I have heard you. I therefore write on behalf of CBS News, Inc. (‘CBS’) to inform you that your employment with CBS is terminated for cause effective immediately.”
Pelley had worked for CBS News since 1989 and once anchored “CBS Evening News.” 
In an interview with the New York Times after his firing, Pelley discussed his experience reporting in various war zones. 
“I have been in combat in Afghanistan,” he said. “I have been in combat in Iraq. I have been in the war zone in Ukraine multiple times, risking my life and the happiness of my family because of my devotion to the broadcast.”
Weiss came to CBS after the network and “60 Minutes” had faced years of accusations of bias, including for releasing a highly edited interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 election.

Like Emperor Palpatine in “Revenge of the Sith,” the elite media in New York and Washington, D.C., want you to know that they alone are the First Amendment. We, the people, are an afterthought.
When Americans exercise their First Amendment rights and criticize the national press as “fake news” or even misleading, these theater kids act as though we’re threatening to murder them.
At Sunday’s Peabody Awards, ABC host Jimmy Kimmel kvetched, “We have the right guaranteed by the Constitution to criticize and satirize our leaders. This is a right that many of us take for granted.”
Whether it’s Kimmel, CNN’s Brian Stelter, or Jim Acosta, they seem to confuse a First Amendment right to a free and fair press with a God-given right to have a show and network that fits their worldview.
Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss has not turned CBS News into a competitor to the Fox News Channel or Newsmax. But like the media reporting class penning funhouse mirrors interpretations of Fox News, there’s no time to analyze what CBS newscasts cover.
Someone with “wrong” opinions has entered this leftist enclave and must be embarrassed. It sounds eerily similar to the anti-Semitism Weiss reportedly faced at the New York Times when she defended the placement of that infamous Tom Cotton op-ed.
At 60 Minutes, the moral of Sharyn Alfonsi’s firing last week could be slimmed down to the fact that mouthing off to your bosses with an “I-Am-Spartacus” e-mail will seldom work out for you.
Longtime CBS host and reporter Scott Pelley must have seen himself as Iron Man taking on Thanos, except the latter is former New York Times tech journalist and documentary filmmaker Nick Bilton, who was recently hired to man the stern of the 58-year-old show.
In other words, Bilton won’t be gracing the pages of this site.
But because he lacks TV news experience, he must be cast off as the staff he now oversees demands Americans open the floodgates for mass, Third World migration.
Pelley sought to do that by declaring to Bilton’s face he had “slender qualifications for this job” and was hired by Weiss, who is “murdering” the show and had “no qualifications for her job.”
The CBS mainstay even attacked Bilton for having the gall to show up at “our house,” even though “you would never be welcomed here.”
And that invective is without Bilton even explaining what he’d do at the show.
Unsurprisingly, Pelley’s lobs were reportedly met with numerous instances of applause.
The insubordination is stunning. There’s one set of rules the news media impose on the country, and another set of rules for themselves, including how we speak to our superiors.
Bill Owens — Pelley’s former longtime boss at 60 Minutes — accepted a highfalutin award called the Gabe Pressman Truth to Power Award from the New York Press Club last night and spoke of his former colleague as though he were the infamous man standing in front of the tanks at Tiananmen Square.
Owens professed his admiration for Pelley, taking on Bilton and Weiss, “an opinion writer best known for being an ideologue.”
“Scott can smell a fraud from a mile away. He stood up the way I did a year ago and I couldn&#8217;t be prouder of him,” he boasted.
He added that shows like “60 Minutes” are “institutions, not places where partisans and ideologues should be employed.”
That’s laughable. It’d be interesting to see whether Owens finds stories such as celebrating cops visiting homes in Germany over social media posts or asking Israelis held hostage by Hamas if their captors were suffering from starvation alongside them.
And whether it was Steve Kroft’s years of pillow-talks with Barack Obama or Lesley Stahl decreeing the Hunter Biden laptop “can’t be verified,” the country’s leading newsmagazine has been a doormat for liberal narratives.
The arrogance and belligerence of these D-List Captain Americas and Black Widows are not to be believed.
Pelley and his fellow petulant children aren’t the only ones screaming for attention.
Karen Attiah also wants you to feel bad for her. On Monday, she announced that her September 2025 firing from The Washington Post for justifying Charlie Kirk’s assassination would be going to arbitration on Thursday.
Posting on — where else? — Substack, she said her message that day was merely “comment[ing] on America’s racial double standards in public discourse when it comes to political violence.” For that, she insisted, she “was fired&#8230;without so much as a conversation” and would be carrying into her hearing the “principle” of “newsroom diversity.”
Fact-check: False. Her definition of “newsroom diversity” means being Joy Reid with a pen and a right to cockamamie claims, such as Queen Elizabeth II being the personification of “white Christian supremacy” or Trump’s 2016 defeat of Hillary Clinton being akin to “men stalking us on the street.”
“I am fighting for journalists’ rights to do their jobs, to comment on matters of public concern without fear of censorship, retaliation, or political pressure. And this is a battle well worth having,” she beamed, later concluding with “the stakes are high, but I’m ready” and then “let’s go” in bold.
Attiah even went as far as to pose outside The Washington Post’s K Street headquarters at night, illuminated in a blue dress while holding a rolled-up print edition and a fake red rose in her mouth.
Joan of Arc, she is not.
Never let elite, national reporters ever tell you they don&#8217;t want to or like being “the story.” It’s one of the biggest lies in America.

For years, critics accused 60 Minutes of operating as a protection racket for the Democratic establishment, alienating half the country in the process. Tensions reached a boiling point during the fallout from the now-infamous Kamala Harris &#8220;word salad&#8221; interview scandal in 2024, when CBS was caught selectively editing Harris&#8217;s comments about Israel for a more polished clip from a completely different part of the discussion.

The former New York Times tech reporter, Vanity Fair investigator, and mastermind behind bestsellers like American Kingpin and Hatching Twitter is vowing that the old days of partisan arrogance are over. Pointing out that consumers are now &#8220;stalked by algorithms&#8221; that weaponize anger, Bilton declared his top priority is fixing the network&#8217;s broken bond with the public.
&#8220;My responsibility is not just technological transformation. It is also our trust with the public,&#8221; Bilton said. &#8220;Above all, that means a commitment to fairness—in story selection, in the edit room, and in the broadcast.&#8221;
Whether Bilton can overhaul one of America&#8217;s most entrenched liberal newsrooms remains to be seen. But according to staff reports, employees have been given 30 days to make their case before major changes begin.

And yet that&#8217;s exactly the position influencer Harry Sisson found himself in at the University of Virginia, when he joined The Daily Wire host for the latest installment on CBS News and <a href="https://www.thefp.com/p/watch-the-gen-z-debate-with-harry">The Free Press&#8217;s</a> &#8220;Things That Matter&#8221; debate series. Brown and Sisson sparred on culture, economics, and the direction of Gen Z politics, with Brown pressing an argument rooted in culture and faith and Sisson leaning on conventional liberal talking points.
Brown opened by framing the debate at a civilizational level, rejecting the idea that current political and economic frustrations can be pinned solely on former President Donald Trump.
“It may be flashy and easy to say it’s all Donald Trump’s fault,” she said, “but in reality where we have arrived at today is because of the systematic removal of God from our society.” She returned to that theme repeatedly, arguing, “We lack the common shared humanity that bound us all together — that is, God.”

Sisson, by contrast, focused on attacking Trump&#8217;s rhetoric, claiming “Trump said Kamala Harris is going to import a million, gazillion people … and he said I’m focused on affordability … and none of that has happened.”
The debate sharpened when it turned to foreign policy. Sisson asked, “What war did Joe Biden get into?” Brown fired back: “Joe Biden directly propped up and funded foreign wars around the world … we sent money to the Iranian regime — we sent $200 billion to the war in Ukraine.”
While the exact figures are debated, it is well-documented that the U.S. committed over $180 billion in aid to Ukraine since 2022, according to a Defense Department<a href="https://media.defense.gov/2025/Mar/10/2003663371/-1/-1/1/OAR_Q1_DEC2024_FINAL_508.PDF#page=28&amp;zoom=70,-372,685" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> inspector general report</a> from 2024, alongside controversial financial transfers tied to Iran and the aftermath of the Afghanistan withdrawal — making Sisson’s implication of non-involvement difficult to sustain.
On domestic economics, Sisson claimed, “We now have less workers than jobs open right now,” echoing a common labor shortage argument. Brown immediately countered: “So why are 10 million Gen Zers unemployed?” As youth unemployment has remained persistently higher than the national average, and labor force participation among younger workers has lagged, complicating the simplistic “more jobs than workers” narrative.
“Immigrants in virtually every piece of economic data makes our country better, they make our culture better, they make us better as people,” Sisson claimed, drawing a sharp contrast with Brown’s argument that mass immigration can suppress wages in certain sectors, a concern supported in part by labor market research showing localized wage pressure in low-skill industries.
