Funding for the Department of Homeland Security resumed after a 75-day shutdown — but Democrats are already threatening to cut funding again in September if their demands are not met.
Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), a ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee, said Democrats would “absolutely” shut down DHS again if Republicans do not agree to proposed reforms to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — such as banning law enforcement officers from wearing masks and requiring judicial warrants for immigration-related arrests.
“In America, police shouldn’t wear masks while walking the streets,” Thompson said, ignoring the dramatic uptick in threats and violent assaults against immigration enforcement officers and their families. “They need identification, they need cameras, and they need judicial warrants.”

The House of Representatives ended the record-setting shutdown on Thursday after passing a bill funding most of the DHS — including the Transportation Security Administration and the Secret Service — through the end of September. ICE and Customs and Border Patrol were left out of the measure. Republicans are relying on a reconciliation bill — which would let the Senate bypass the 60-vote procedural threshold and thus the Democrats’ demands — to move ahead with funding for ICE and CBP.
The shutdown began in February after Democrats refused to approve DHS funding unless Republicans agreed to include sweeping federal immigration enforcement reforms. Despite the hardships shouldered by everyday Americans during such shutdowns, Thompson was clear that Democrats are willing to trigger another shutdown if they do not get what they want.
CNN&#8217;s Victor Blackwell pressed Thompson on his answer, asking whether Democrats were willing to force government employees to go without pay again.
“When you say ‘absolutely,’ that suggests that there could be another shutdown, and there could be another lapse in pay for those TSA workers, the Coast Guard, if Democrats withhold those votes at the end of September,” Blackwell said.
“Absolutely. Victor, look, we have to stand for democracy. If we have to fight for it, there has to be sacrifice,&#8221; Thompson added, apparently unconcerned with the fact that it would be average American families making the &#8220;sacrifice&#8221; he was so quick to offer.

A massive liberal donor network is planning to spend “ten of millions” of dollars on new media to counter conservatives.
Democracy Alliance, founded in 2005 to pool liberal funds, spent most of 2024 trying to flip House seats in New York and California. The group has spent $2 billion on electoral campaigns, media outlets, and think tanks since its creation. But following the new media success of conservatives, the group is shifting its strategy to developing alternative media, Semafor first <a href="https://www.semafor.com/article/05/01/2026/progressive-megadonors-bet-big-on-content-creators">reported</a>.
“It became crystal clear after 2024 that we collectively had relied too much on forms of media that were not reaching people,” Pamela Shifman, president of Democracy Alliance, told Semafor. “Too much focus on paid advertisements, too much focus on broadcast television, and that is simply not where the majority of people consume their news.”
The 2024 election cycle – during which President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance made huge gains through appearances on podcasts — convinced liberal donors to change their strategy.
“Donors are more fired up, are more clear about the stakes, and more ready to go all in to defeat authoritarianism,” Shifman said. “Because it is more than just about one election, right? It is about defeating authoritarianism.”
An internal memo recommended donors invest in Democracy Alliance’s new media fund, which would promote organizations such as More Perfect Union, an advocacy journalism nonprofit. The fund would also help liberals break into predominantly conservative spaces, such as Make America Healthy Again influencing, Semafor reported.
In 2024, President Donald Trump went on a variety of podcasts, including those hosted by Joe Rogan and Theo Von, for interviews that got millions of views. Former Vice President Kamala Harris, the 2024 Democratic nominee, attempted to counter by going on podcasts such as Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy,” but her efforts failed to sway voters.
“The right has spent decades cultivating and organizing young people,” the memo, which was shared with Semafor, said. “They build relationships through culture and community — and engage in politics after. We can’t cede these voters. It’s time for progressives to invest heavily in our own trusted messengers who can meet young people where they are — both online and in-person.”
Shifman told Semafor the problem has been progressives’ messaging strategy.
“That is not why we are losing, because the Democrats are too ‘woke,’” Shifman said. “Our strategy really is about meeting people where they are. And we also need to have a vision of what we are going to do to improve people’s lives.”
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani used social media to effectively reach voters, she said.
“I live in New York, and I saw the Mamdani campaign use media and tactics that reached people, that spoke to people, that resonated with people, and that was joyful and positive and compelling,” Shifman said. “It doesn’t have to be negative to reach people.”
Despite Mamdani&#8217;s ability to reach people and sell a message, his administration has stalled as he&#8217;s been forced to beg for more money to fund his socialist agenda.

An illegal immigrant was found guilty in a 2025 attempted knife attack at the Israeli embassy in London.
A jury found him guilty of preparation of terrorist acts and possession of two bladed articles May 1.
Abdullah Albadri, 34, tried to scale the fence around the embassy before armed diplomatic protection officers arrested him April 28, 2025, <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cze25yz8dnxo">according</a> to the BBC.
“Why are you stopping me from making crimes?” Albadri asked the officers when they detained him.
An investigation after the attack found that Albadri wanted revenge against the Israeli government over the war in Gaza, <a href="https://news.met.police.uk/news/man-convicted-of-planning-terrorist-attack-at-embassy-of-israel-508882">according</a> to the Metropolitan Police.
“I want to do something to stop the war,” Albadri told the officers who arrested him.
He had arrived in the U.K. just 16 days before the attack, crossing the English Channel from France by small boat. It was the second time he&#8217;d illegally entered the country in the same manner in four years, the BBC reported.
Albadri said during the trial that he is a member of the Bedoon tribe and grew up in Kuwait. He spent five years in prison in his home country after becoming an activist.
He first entered the U.K. in August 2021 via small boat and claimed asylum. He claimed he took a truck that he thought was going to Manchester, but instead ended up in France.
He returned to the U.K. on April 12, 2025, where he spent almost two weeks homeless in London. Twelve days after his arrival, he began looking for the location of the Israeli embassy and looked up information about “suicide among enemies,” according to the BBC.
Albadri had copied a verse titled “the benefit of martyrdom,” which was found on him when he was arrested. He also wrote a note and sent a picture of it with a knife to his mother.
“I will attack in the way of Allah and for the sake of being free from humiliation in this world,” Albadri wrote in the note.
He also messaged his mother, “I chose the path of martyrdom.”
Albadri then traveled across the city to the Israeli embassy in Kensington Gardens. He was wearing a red and white Arabic scarf, which covered his face except for his eyes — which were hidden by sunglasses.
When Albadri reached the embassy, he saluted two officers and then attempted to scale the fence. The officers pulled him off the fence and pinned him to the ground.
Five officers, one in plainclothes, detained and handcuffed him.
“I want to make a crime inside there. Why are you stopping me? Why are you stopping me from making crimes?” he asked the officers. “Why didn’t you let me in? And then do what you want to do?”
Authorities believed that, based on the evidence collected and his statements at the time of his capture, Albadri might have been hoping to get shot by the officers in &#8220;suicide by cop.&#8221;
Albadri is set to be sentenced at a later date.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may visit the United States for a summit starting May 11 to meet with President Donald Trump and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.
The visit, first reported by i24News, is reportedly <a href="https://x.com/guyaz/status/2048012973394805159?s=46&amp;t=o-U3qwC25WnWaylJ0oeG7Q">contingent</a> on whether or not Netanyahu can safely leave Israel.

The potential meeting comes as Trump has encouraged negotiations between Israel and Lebanon despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The two countries agreed to extend an ongoing ceasefire for three weeks following an April 23 meeting in the White House.
Netanyahu and Aoun’s meeting would fall within the timeframe of that ceasefire.
“The Meeting went very well!” Trump said in a Truth Social post <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116456113408853958">announcing</a> the ceasefire. “The United States is going to work with Lebanon in order to help it protect itself from Hezbollah.”
The meeting included Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, and Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa, along with diplomats from Israel and Lebanon.
In the post, Trump said he would host Netanyahu and Aoun “in the near future.”

A North Carolina school board is refusing to protect female students in bathrooms and locker rooms, despite months of concerns from students and parents.
Trista Ruck, a junior at Cox Mill High School in Cabarrus County, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzjg93kJAVc&amp;list=PLC9l3bAWkCyitTzhInQ1jR99Dz1eiIJLi&amp;index=10">addressed</a> the Cabarrus County School Board in December of 2025 and asked them to create a policy defending female-only spaces at the school. At Ruck’s school, a male student identifying as a woman is on the football and basketball cheer team and uses women’s locker rooms and restrooms.
“Many of my peers and I feel uncomfortable using facilities designed for women and women alone, as he has different reproductive parts than we do,” Ruck said.

Ruck said both parents and students had discussed the problem with Cox Mill administration and the athletic director, only to be “blatantly ignored.” The school’s only response was to make special accommodations for the female students instead of for the trans-identifying student, Ruck said.
One of Ruck’s friends, who is on one of the school’s sports teams, said she noticed the male student watching her and other female students changing while in the locker room, according to Ruck.
“She stated that this made her feel extremely uncomfortable and that she did not feel safe or respected in that environment,” Ruck told the board.
The student was told to take the problems to the principal, who said it was “too political to address, and that any action might be interpreted the wrong way,” according to Ruck.
“Our school is supposed to make every student safe, but we get ostracized when we discuss this with adults who are supposed to ensure the safety and comfortability at school,” Ruck said. “Personally, I try to avoid the restrooms at all costs, but I do use these facilities at times when I really have to. I, as well as others, do not feel comfortable when an individual of the opposite gender is allowed and authorized to use our facilities.”
In addition to safety concerns over males in female spaces, avoiding using the restroom can cause health problems, including chronic pain and urinary tract infections, <a href="https://www.cuimc.columbia.edu/news/your-urinary-health-what-you-should-know">according</a> to Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Holding in urine repeatedly for long periods of time can also make it difficult to fully empty one’s bladder and can cause pelvic floor dysfunction.
Cabarrus County voted for President Donald Trump in 2024, <a href="https://er.ncsbe.gov/?election_dt=11/05/2024&amp;county_id=13&amp;office=ALL&amp;contest=0">according</a> to election data, but despite repeated concerns, the board has refused to institute any countywide policies protecting women’s bathrooms and locker rooms.
Alexis Hughes, the founder of You Heard Her, an advocacy for female students in Cabarrus County, slammed the board for ignoring Ruck and other students at its most recent <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BO17lgPdAQ">meeting</a> on April 13, 2026.
“This is not about hate or judging any any child, and this is not about asking the board to take a position on personal beliefs or ideology,” Hughes said. “What you are responsible for is ensuring students are safe, that their privacy is protected, and that policies are clear and consistently applied.”
Hughes referenced Ruck’s comments and criticized the board for not addressing the problem.
“She came to you all for help. You heard her. You did nothing. Shame,” Hughes said. “There is nothing political about a child that feels unsafe when they are changing clothes. That is a basic expectation of privacy, and it is all of your responsibility.”
Multiple speakers at the April meeting slammed the board for not taking action to protect female students. At the end of public comment, the board carried on with usual business without addressing any of the speakers’ concerns.
“This comes down to three things: safety, privacy, and respect for every student,” Hughes told the board. “Transgender students deserve protection, but policy has to protect all students. And right now, the absence of policy is failing every single student in our district.”

A pregnant woman on TikTok posted a video of herself playing music next to her stomach so her unborn son would turn out gay.
The video, posted to X by independent journalist Cam Higby, shows user Katie Frank playing ABBA’s “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)” with the caption: “POV you’re pregnant with a boy and gotta make sure he turns out a little gay.”
“No toxic masculinity allowed in this house,” the caption said.
“This is DISGUSTING,” Higby said in his post.

The video has 4.3 million views on TikTok and more than 950,000 likes.
The comments of the video, which Higby also posted, were filled with moms talking about wanting their sons to be gay.
“My son is four and exclusively listens to sabrina carpenter [sic]… hopes are VERY high,” one comment, which has more than 97,000 likes, said.
Another comment with more than 150,000 likes was from a mother celebrating her son wanting to go to theater camp.
“My son just officially came out a few months ago,” yet another comment said.
“I can confirm this worked for me,” a third commenter said. “Manifesting for you.”
“My son LOVES the new lady Gaga song. He’s on 1 1/2 but I have high hopes,” another stated.
Other comments were from self-described gay users thanking moms in the comments for being supportive.
“Didn’t start my transition until just recently because I never [sic] given the space to explore who I was as a child,” one commenter said. “Seeing the moms in the comment section who let their kids be who they are without judgement gives me a bit of hope.”
Another wrote, “As a gay man this comment section is making me tear up, thank you for being so loving and accepting Moms!”
The only negative comment from the woman&#8217;s video was one user who wrote, “Hope yall get better soon.”
Conservatives, on the other hand, shredded the video in Higby’s comments.
“But they say gay people are ‘marginalized and oppressed’…so they want their kids to be oppressed???” conservative commentator Riley Gaines posted.
“Not sure who needs to hear this, but this is child abuse,” conservative actor Kevin Sorbo wrote on X.
Others said listening to ABBA music was the wrong strategy.
“I grew up listening to air supply and ABBA, this technique doesn’t work,” Andrew Gruel posted in response to the video.

Sasse is now in the fourth month since his diagnosis, having been told he had three to four months to live.
“I believe in the Resurrection, and I believe in a restoration of this world, and so I did not feel great fear about my death,” Sasse said. “I didn’t want the pain I was going through, I didn’t want to be a pansy-ass in my final moments.”
Sasse had a bloody face during his interview, a side effect of a new cancer treatment, he told Douthat. The treatment is extending the lives of cancer patients, but causes bleeding, peeling, and rashes.
“It’s a nasty drug,” Sasse said. “It causes crazy stuff, like my body can’t grow skin, and so I bleed out of a whole bunch of parts of me that shouldn’t be bleeding.”
Sasse has done several interviews since his diagnosis, and he told Douthat he has “time to redeem.”
“You gotta redeem the time, and there’s only so many bits of unsolicited advice I can give my children,” Sasse said when asked why he is choosing to talk to journalists. “You journalists want to talk, and if you don’t have anybody better, I’m your man.”
Although Sasse said he has made peace with his mortality, he added that he does have regrets about having prioritized poorly throughout his life.
“We’re all on the clock, and I wanted to have prioritized better, and whether I really only had three or four months left or if I get nine to 12 months left, I wanna prioritize better from then. But in my tradition, in Christianity, the need for daily repentance is just a truth. I am broken,” Sasse said. “And I get to repent every day of my sins — of both omission and commission. And yet, at a slightly bigger level, if you’re only gonna get three or four months, you really wanna get some of your affairs in order.”
Sasse said he has felt a heaviness about the diagnosis because he does not want to leave his children without a father.
“I knew that God was not surprised by the diagnosis,” Sasse said. “There is not a maverick molecule in the universe. But I didn’t like the idea of my 14-year-old son not having a dad around at 16. I didn’t like the idea of my daughters, who are 22 and 24, not having their dad there to walk them down the aisle.”
Despite his concerns, Sasse said, he is still at peace.
“I’ve continued to feel a peace about the fact that death is something that we should hate, we should call it a wicked thief, and yet, it’s pretty good that you pass through the veil of tears one time and then there will be no more tears,” Sasse said.

The heroic ROTC cadets who stopped the terrorist at Old Dominion University in March described their experience beating and stabbing the attacker.
The shooter, former National Guard soldier Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, killed one and injured two in the March 12 attack, The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gunman-opens-fire-injures-two-at-old-dominion-university">reported</a>. Jalloh was pronounced dead when police arrived on the scene.
“There were students that were in that room that subdued him and rendered him no longer alive,” Dominique Evans, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Norfolk office, said at the time. “They basically were able to terminate the threat.”
Jalloh entered a classroom at Old Dominion and “nervously” asked if it was an ROTC class. Cadet Wesley Myers said Jalloh, who was previously convicted of supporting ISIS, shouted “Allahu Akbar” and opened fire on class instructor Lieutenant Colonel Brandon Shah.
Shah later <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/decorated-military-hero-idd-as-victim-of-old-dominion-terrorist-attack">died</a> from his injuries.
“I saw my instructor kinda lunge at him, and when I got under the desk, I saw them together,” Cadet Jah-Ira Utarte said. “If he didn’t lunge at him, I wouldn’t be here right now. There’s a possibility he could’ve turned his gun and I could’ve been next.”

Cadet Louis Ancheta pulled out his pocket knife and ran up to Jalloh while Shah wrestled him.
“With my pocketknife, I open it, I run up, and as I’m running up, Colonel Shah lunges at the guy,” Ancheta said. “[Jalloh] shoots another stray, and it hits me. It really didn’t feel like it hit me. It felt like a graze. After that, I’m like, ‘I can keep on going.'&#8221;
Shah turned Jalloh around and gave Ancheta an opening to strike, the cadet said.
“I just go in there, and I start stabbing him,” Ancheta said. “As I’m stabbing him, other cadets jump in.”
Myers and Cadet Jeremy Rawlinson tried to wrest the gun away from Jalloh.
“We did what we tried to do to get the gun away from him, and he just wasn’t letting go,” Rawlinson said. “I just happened to have a knife on me at the time. Ancheta and I, we were, like, neutralizing the guy.”
As the cadets brought Jalloh to the ground, Myers wrenched away the gun, which only had one bullet left.
The cadets then switched to “combat care” to help Ancheta.
“It’s different when it’s not a mannequin, and it’s your friend,” Myers said.
The FBI is investigating the shooting as an act of terrorism. Director Kash Patel praised the cadets in a social media post March 12.
“The shooter is now deceased thanks to a group of brave students who stepped in and subdued him — actions that undoubtedly saved lives along with the quick response of law enforcement,” Patel <a href="https://x.com/FBIDirectorKash/status/2032183663350214858?s=20">said</a>.

The city of Houston&#8217;s official X account deleted a post referring to Good Friday as a “spring holiday” after backlash from government officials and others on the platform.
“Due to the Spring holiday weekend, City of Houston offices will be closed on Friday, April 3,” the now-deleted post said.
“Today is Good Friday. Sunday is Easter. It isn’t a ‘Spring holiday weekend,’” Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) wrote in response. “It’s a time when Christians across the nation reflect on the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The City of Houston should be ashamed.”

Newsmax host Todd Starnes posted a side-by-side comparison of the city’s Good Friday post and Mayor John Whitmire’s post celebrating the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr — and noted the clear difference in tone.

“Wishing those who celebrate, a joyful and blessed Eid al-Fitr,” the Houston Mayor’s Office account posted in acknowledgment of the Muslim holiday. “May this occasion bring peace, prosperity, and renewed gratitude.”
At the time of publication, the city had not yet posted anything recognizing Easter other than a <a href="https://x.com/HoustonHealth/status/2040125982430880089">repost</a> from the city&#8217;s health department warning about the risks of contracting bird flu while handling eggs. The account has recognized Easter in previous years. The city has also posted about the Muslim holiday Ramadan.
Republican state Rep. Tom Oliverson called the difference in the city’s posts “embarrassing.”
“Be better,” Oliverson <a href="https://x.com/TomOliverson/status/2040067814342406459">wrote</a> on X. “Today is Good Friday, not Spring Holiday.”
The city&#8217;s post is still up on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DWocJjeid5G/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&amp;igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA%3D%3D">Instagram</a>, with the vast majority of comments on that platform also criticizing the city’s wording.
“Spring Holiday” is listed as an official city holiday on Houston’s <a href="https://www.houstontx.gov/events/cityholidays.html">calendar</a> that falls on Good Friday. In 2027, “Spring Holiday” — and Good Friday — will fall on March 26.

For two years, California Democrats have used claims of &#8220;price gouging&#8221; to justify price controls for oil companies and other radical environmentalist policies.
But while California&#8217;s $6/gallon gas prices are the most expensive in the country, price gouging has nothing to do with it.
A new report by CBS News California Investigates <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/california-gas-prices-investigation-whats-to-blame/">revealed</a> a variety of factors are causing high prices, including global supply difficulties, refinery closures, and state policies. It found that the state&#8217;s high fuel prices are caused by a number of laws imposed by Democrats to protect the environment — not gouging by the oil companies themselves.
Notably, California requires fuel stations sell a special gas blend intended to reduce emissions, which is more expensive to produce. The blend also means the state is an “energy island” that can&#8217;t simply import cheaper fuel from other states. The special blend adds about 10 to 15 cents per gallon of gas.
Other factors include a 61-cent state excise tax per gallon; 23 cents per gallon from the state’s cap-and-invest program, which was created to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and 14 cents per gallon from the state’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard.
Not on the list of oil refinery price gouging, which California Democrats have blamed for skyrocketing prices for years. In 2024, the California state legislature convened a special session during which it capped oil company profits. Two years later — and after the closure of two refineries that supplied almost 20% of California’s refining capabilities — state officials finally admitted there was no evidence of price gouging.
Now, California is outsourcing some of its oil refining to Asian countries, CBS News California Investigates reported. Relying on those countries can increase gas prices, since oil must be shipped across the Pacific, sometimes taking weeks to reach the state. Delays in transit can spike prices in the event of global shortages or refinery outages.
Even though global conflicts are exacerbating prices, the outlet found California’s gas prices were already higher than the national average, with 55% of the cost of each gallon coming from state-specific costs.
Another factor is a “mystery surcharge” that appeared in 2015 after the closure of a major refinery, but refinery operating costs were already higher in California before that surcharge, UC Berkeley economist Severin Borenstein told CBS News California Investigates.
After the state legislature found no evidence of price gouging, state officials said they found some causes of price increases.
“We’ve identified certain dynamics that were creating those price spikes,” California’s National Resources Secretary Wade Crowfoot told CBS News California Investigates.
Crowfoot said the state is trying to balance both affordability and climate goals, according to the outlet. He said he was not “in a position to point a finger” when asked if there was evidence of price gouging.
Last year, the California energy commission voted to pause its ability to set price caps on oil company profits for the next five years.
Manager of the Chevron Richmond refinery Tolly Graves told CBS News California Investigates that price caps ignore the volatility of the industry.
“Those good months are the only way we make a profit … if you cap the good months but don’t support the bad ones, it creates an unviable business,” Graves said.
The Chevron refinery produces gas for 20% of cars in Northern California and 60% of jet fuel from Sacramento to San Jose, according to the outlet.
Higher labor, energy, and regulatory costs all contribute to higher gas prices, Graves told the outlet. The state’s gasoline blend also requires specialized production that cost billions of dollars in investment.
“It costs us hundreds of millions a year just to stay in business,” Graves said. “Things have to change for us to be willing to invest in a refinery in California.”
California Governor Gavin Newsom&#8217;s office responded by doubling down. Anthony Martinez, a spokesman, a spokesman for Newsom, told The Daily Wire, &#8220;What changed is not California’s gas tax or state policies — those are fixed and don’t spike week to week. What changed is Trump’s shortsighted and costly war.&#8221;
Martinez added that California’s independent petroleum watchdog agency, the Division of Petroleum Market Oversight, is “monitoring the entire market for price gouging and is going after individual gas stations trying to exploit this crisis.”

New body-cam footage released this month shows singer Justin Timberlake struggling through a field sobriety test in the 2024 Hampton stop that ended with his arrest for driving while intoxicated.
Timberlake was driving in Sag Harbor, New York, at the time of his arrest in June 2024. He later pleaded guilty to driving while ability impaired, receiving community service and issuing a public apology, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/justin-timberlake-sobriety-test-video-hamptons-arrest">according</a> to Fox News Digital.

In part of the approximately eight hours of footage, an officer questions Timberlake, who is still in the car.
“I’m on tour,” Timberlake said when the officer asked what he was doing in the area. He then clarified, “A world tour.”
“Doing what?” the officer asked.
“It’s hard to explain,” Timberlake said. “World tour. I’m Justin Timberlake.”
“You are Justin Timberlake?” the officer asked. “Do you have a license with you?”
Later in the video, Timberlake interrupts the officer explaining the field sobriety test.
“Guys, I’m just following my friends back to my house,” Timberlake said. “I’m not doing anything, I’m just following my friends.”
The video shows Timberlake struggling to walk heel-to-toe in a straight line and stand on one leg.
“By the way, these are, like, these are really hard tests,” he told the officers.
Timberlake refused to take a breathalyzer test, at which point the officers arrested him on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Timberlake had sued Sag Harbor Village and the police department earlier this month to stop the release of the footage, according to Fox News Digital. His lawyers said they were told on March 1 that the video would be released in response to a request under Freedom of Information law, although it would be redacted for medical and security reasons.
To block the release, the singer had argued the video contained private information “not germane to any public law enforcement action of public concern.”
On March 20, Timberlake’s lawyers allowed the release of the video in a joint filing that said the footage “does not constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.”
Despite the incident, Timberlake was able to continue his 2024 tour.

A Georgia prosecutor said Friday that he has dropped the vehicular homicide charge against a teenager who struck a high school teacher with his car during a late-night prank gone wrong.
Hall County Prosecutor Lee Darragh confirmed the dismissal to <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/charges-dropped-georgia-teens-fatal-high-school-prank-rcna263433">NBC News</a>.
The family of Jason Hughes, 40, the math teacher at North Hall High School who was killed, had previously said they wanted the charges dropped, The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-high-school-prank-turned-deadly-now-the-victims-family-wants-charges-dropped">previously reported</a>.
“This is a terrible tragedy, and our family is determined to prevent a separate tragedy from occurring, ruining the lives of these students,” the family <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/08/us/georgia-teacher-killed-prank.html">said</a> in a statement to The New York Times last week. “This would be counter to Jason’s lifelong dedication of investing in the lives of these children.”
Darragh also dismissed reckless driving, criminal trespass, and littering charges against Jayden Wallace, 18, as well as criminal trespass and littering charges against four other 18-year-olds who were participating in the prank.
The Wallace family attorney said the situation was “an extremely sad and devastating accident,” not a crime, according to NBC News. He also thanked Hughes’ wife for her “remarkable compassion and spirit of forgiveness in the face of the tremendous loss of her husband.”
Hughes, a father of two, died on March 6 after being run over by a teen driver who was there with other students toilet-papering his trees. Hughes slipped near the car because of rain and was accidentally struck by the vehicle, according to <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/family-georgia-teacher-killed-prank-gone-wrong-want-charges-teens-drop-rcna262482">NBC News</a>.
The teens stopped immediately and tried to administer first aid, but Hughes died of his injuries.
The prank was a tradition at the school, Hughes’ family <a href="https://abcnews.com/video/130894885/">told</a> ABC News in a statement. Hughes knew the students were coming and was excited to catch them.
“The family wants to make clear that they knew these kids and they loved them, and these kids loved the Hugheses,” the family said. “This was not a malicious act.”
A <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-memory-of-jason-hughes-support-his-family-4zzkn">GoFundMe</a> for the Hughes family has raised almost $490,000 as of Saturday.
“We are thankful for the outpouring of prayers and support as we grieve the loss of Jason,” the family told ABC. “We ask that you continue to pray for our family and also for the students involved in the accident along with their families. Please join us in extending grace and mercy to them as Christ has done for us.”
