Fans have thrown sex toys onto the court during WNBA games on three different occasions this past week.
Most recently, Indiana Fever standout Sophie Cunningham was the first to notice a bright green device on the court when her team faced off against the Los Angeles Sparks. The incident occurred after a free throw, right before halftime.
The culprit <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6537792/2025/08/06/sophie-cunningham-sex-toy-wnba-indiana-fever/">fled the arena</a> after throwing the sex toy, according to security personnel.
Clay Travis, the founder of Outkick, commented on the trend and posted video of the latest incident on X. &#8220;A third green d**** has been thrown at a WNBA game!&#8221; he said. &#8220;This time in LA. Atlanta, Chicago and LA now. It appears the d**** may have lightly grazed Sophie Cunningham who tweeted not to hit players with the d*****. This is an all time story. This league!&#8221;

Sparks coach Lynne Roberts called the trend &#8220;ridiculous,&#8221; &#8220;dumb,&#8221; and &#8220;stupid.&#8221;
“It’s also dangerous,&#8221; she <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6537792/2025/08/06/sophie-cunningham-sex-toy-wnba-indiana-fever/">said</a>. &#8220;Player safety is number one, respecting the game, all those things. I think it’s really stupid.”
As noted by Travis, Cunningham seemed to crack a joke about the trend earlier in the week, posting on X, &#8220;stop throwing d****s on the court… you’re going to hurt one of us.&#8221; The post received more than 36 million views.
Following the incident during the Fever/Sparks game, Cunningham noted the post &#8220;did NOT age well.&#8221;

On Tuesday, someone threw a similarly green sex toy onto the court during a Golden State Valkyries vs. Atlanta Dream game.

The trend has been so widely commented on that people can now actually bet on the color of the next sex toy to be thrown onto the WNBA court.

The WNBA, though, is not finding the trend so comical, for obvious reasons. So far, at least one person has been arrested for pulling the stunt. The WNBA said in a statement that any person throwing objects onto the court will be ejected and banned from league games for one year.
“The safety and well-being of everyone in our arenas is a top priority for our league,” the statement said. “Objects of any kind thrown onto the court or in the seating area can pose a safety risk for players, game officials, and fans. In line with WNBA Arena Security Standards, any fan who intentionally throws an object onto the court will be immediately ejected and face a minimum one-year ban in addition to being subject to arrest and prosecution by local authorities.”

Comedian <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/a-list-comedian-shane-gillis-returning-host-snl-second-time-being-fired-sketch-show" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Shane Gillis</a> hosted ESPN&#8217;s &#8220;ESPY Awards&#8221; on Wednesday night and shocked the crowd with a number of jokes about Jeffrey Epstein, the WNBA, its top star Caitlin Clark, and January 6th.
Gillis, who was warmly received by the online crowd, joked about the theories surrounding the death of Epstein, a convicted sex offender.

The WNBA&#8217;s Fever guard Sophie Cunningham said over the weekend that she felt she had to step up and protect her teammate, Caitlin Clark, after years of referees allowing cheap shots against Clark, who&#8217;s the league&#8217;s star player.
On Tuesday, Cunningham was ejected from a game and fined after she grabbed Suns guard Jacy Sheldon by the back of the head. Earlier in the game, Sheldon poked Clark in the eye as she was passing the ball &#8212; which clearly did not sit well with Cunningham.

During last week&#8217;s game against the Suns, a number of technical fouls were handed down by the referees after Clark got her eye poked and chaos ensued. Stephanie White, coach of the Fever, blamed the referees for letting the game get out of hand. Clark, a frequent target of cheap shots in the league and the recipient of one of those technical fouls, nodded along in agreement.
“I think it was pretty obvious that stuff was brewing, right?” White told the press post-game. “When the officials don&#8217;t get control of the ballgame, when they allow that stuff to happen, and it&#8217;s been happening all season long … you&#8217;ve got competitive women who are the best in the world at what they do, and when you allow them to play physical, and you allow these things to happen, they&#8217;re going to compete, and they&#8217;re going to have their teammates&#8217; backs. It&#8217;s exactly what you expect out of fierce competition. I started talking to the officials in the first quarter, and we knew this was going to happen. You could tell it was going to happen. So they got to get control of it. They got to be better.”

An investigation by the Women&#8217;s National Basketball Association (WNBA) found no trace of racism toward the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese during the Sky’s May 17 game against the Indiana Fever.
During the game, the court exploded into momentary chaos after the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark fouled Reese as she attempted a layup. After the game, reports suggested that the tension was further fueled by racist comments from fans.
“We have investigated the report of racist fan behavior in the vicinity of the court during the May 17, 2025 Chicago Sky at Indiana Fever game. Based on information gathered to date, including the relevant fans, team and arena staff, as well as audio and video review of the game, we have not substantiated it. The WNBA is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for everyone and will continue to be vigilant in enforcing our fan code of conduct,” the WNBA said in a statement on Tuesday.

During the third quarter of an Opening Day bout between the Sky and Fever, Clark was called for a foul on Reese after Reese drove for a basket. Reese initially fell to the floor, but soon was up and ran toward Clark. Clark continued walking back toward the Fever bench.
At the end of the ensuing scuffle, Clark was called for a flagrant foul while Reese and the Fever’s Aliyah Boston received technicals, according to the <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/05/27/sports/wnba-probe-did-not-find-substantial-evidence-of-fever-fan-racism/">New York Post</a>.
Clark later dismissed controversy over her foul against Reese.

“It&#8217;s just a good take foul, you know? Either Angel gets a wide open two points or, you know, we send them to the free throw line. Nothing malicious about it. It’s just a good take foul. Every basketball player knows that,” Clark <a href="https://x.com/HaterReport_/status/1923846750084768069">said</a>.
The day after the controversy, the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/angel-reese-sky-racial-slurs-f77dd6072d1bcb0fc327ed72bbcf0b73">reported</a> that the WNBA was investigating a report of racist slurs hurled at Reese during the game.
“The WNBA strongly condemns racism, hate, and discrimination in all forms — they have no place in our league or in society,” the basketball league said in a statement at the time. “We are aware of the allegations and are looking into the matter.”
Reese backed the investigation, <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/wnba/breaking-news/article/wnba-investigation-reports-of-racist-fan-behavior-directed-at-angel-reese-during-fever-sky-game-not-substantiated-224851242.html">saying</a> several days later that “obviously, there&#8217;s no place in this league for that.”
“I think the WNBA and our team and our organization have done a great job supporting me. I&#8217;ve had communication from everyone, from so many people across this league,” she said.
After the alleged racist comments could not be substantiated, Pacers Sports &amp; Entertainment CEO Mel Raines issued a statement reiterating the WNBA’s findings.
&#8220;We appreciate the swift and thorough process undertaken by the WNBA to investigate these allegations, which were not substantiated,” Raines <a href="https://x.com/ItsMeghanLHall/status/1927477305703563404">said</a>.
Chicago Sky President Adam Fox <a href="https://x.com/chicagosky/status/1927490001983426691">thanked</a> the WNBA and Indiana Fever for the “quick action” to investigate the allegations.

&#8220;Let a white chick say some[thing] like that and it’s a problem,&#8221; one post read.
Notably, Griner seemed to complain about Clark bringing in new fans to the WNBA last year, suggesting some of them are racist.
&#8220;I don’t appreciate the new fans that sit there and yell racial slurs at myself, my teammates, and the people that I play against because, yeah, those are my best opponents but those are friends too,&#8221; Griner said at the time.

Every so often you hear about so-called &#8220;uncontacted tribes.&#8221; These are people who have never had any interactions with the outside world. They&#8217;re out in the middle of nowhere, in places like the &#8220;Nicobar Islands&#8221; and the Amazon rainforest. And they&#8217;re obviously interesting to talk about, as evidenced by the millions of people who love watching documentaries and YouTube videos about them. Of course, the reason that these tribes capture people&#8217;s imagination is not because there is anything particularly desirable or admirable about their culture or way of life. Instead, they capture people&#8217;s imagination because they offer a glimpse into a world that &#8212; thankfully &#8212; we transcended. They&#8217;re fascinating because, every now and then, it&#8217;s encouraging to look at primitive people and think to ourselves: &#8220;As bad as things are, at least we aren’t still living like that.&#8221; We can use these tribes as an opportunity to reflect on all the human progress that&#8217;s occurred out here in civilization. Maybe no one will admit this out loud. But it&#8217;s true.
And it&#8217;s not just &#8220;uncontacted tribes&#8221; who fill this role in modern society. They&#8217;re maybe the most prominent example, but they&#8217;re certainly not the only ones. In particular, in recent years, it&#8217;s become pretty apparent that the organization known as the &#8220;WNBA&#8221; serves a very similar function. The WNBA, very clearly, is not a viable product from an entertainment perspective. It loses tens of millions of dollars every year. There has never been a genuine business case for keeping the WNBA alive. Even with the historic level of interest the public now has in the league — historic by WNBA standards — it’s still not viable. Because literally all of that interest is focused on just one player, Caitlin Clark.
And yet, with all that said, it&#8217;s time to admit that the WNBA, despite all appearances, isn&#8217;t actually useless &#8212; at least not completely. Like the tribesmen who have never heard of things like the &#8220;telephone&#8221; or &#8220;electricity,&#8221; the WNBA serves a purpose, albeit a very twisted one. In a sense, it exists outside of time and space. It&#8217;s a window into an alternative dimension, where humans didn&#8217;t respond to economic incentives or social pressures, or value things like &#8220;talent&#8221; or &#8220;competitiveness&#8221; or anything like that. The WNBA, because it&#8217;s propped up by Left-wing executives at the NBA who inexplicably have no problem losing large amounts of money every year, is immune from the normal demands of civilization as we know them. And in practice, that means that, if we take a look at how things are going at the WNBA, we can get a pretty good sense of how exactly the country would be doing, if we had gotten stuck back in 2020 and never moved on from the BLM race hysteria. Thanks to the WNBA, we don&#8217;t have to wonder about that anymore.
Instead, all we have to do is tune into Opening Day of the 2025 WNBA season, which took place on Saturday. Yes, in just one day &#8212; the first day of the season &#8212; the WNBA, for all intents and purposes, completely fell apart. The entire league, which serves as the platonic ideal of a progressive enterprise, devolved instantaneously into a race hoax and some inevitable racial outrage. No one&#8217;s even pretending to talk about the different teams in the WNBA, or the &#8220;power rankings,&#8221; or whatever. Instead, once again, they&#8217;re talking about white supremacy and racism.

The drama officially began in the third quarter of a game between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky. The Indiana Fever is the team that Caitlin Clark plays for. And the Chicago Sky is the name of the team that Caitlin Clark&#8217;s arch-nemesis, Angel Reese, plays for. If you&#8217;re cynical, you might conclude that the WNBA intentionally created this match-up for opening day in order to generate exactly the kind of racial controversy that followed. But for all I know, these are the only two teams that exist in the WNBA, so maybe they had to schedule it this way. Regardless, I&#8217;ll play the dramatic moment from the third quarter. Here it is:

As you can see, Angel Reese &#8212; number 5 &#8212; pushes another player with two hands, as she&#8217;s trying to get the rebound. Apparently, the player that Angel Reese pushed is named &#8220;Natasha Howard&#8221; or something like that. In any event, it&#8217;s a clear foul. But it&#8217;s not called. You can see that Caitlin Clark is stunned that the foul wasn&#8217;t called. She&#8217;s sticking out both arms in protest.
And then, once Reese gets the rebound, Clark fouls her on purpose. This is called a &#8220;take foul&#8221; in basketball. And in context, the &#8220;take foul&#8221; makes sense. She wants to prevent Reese from getting the easy layup, so she has to foul quickly, before she begins the shot. (If she waits too long, then it&#8217;s a shooting foul, and a potential three-point play.)
Now, if you watched this moment and you&#8217;re not an alien who&#8217;s completely unfamiliar with basketball or human interaction, it&#8217;s one of the least remarkable sequences that you can imagine: The refs blew a call. And then Clark attempted to end the play as quickly as possible, which every basketball player in her position is taught to do. It’s all very normal. Everything makes sense so far. But sense — common sense —  is suspended in the WNBA. That&#8217;s why, moments after this incident took place, a reporter asked Caitlin Clark the single most loaded question that&#8217;s ever been asked in professional sports. Watch:

Yeah, what &#8220;point were you trying to make&#8221; with that foul? Were you trying to say that black people should be enslaved again? Were you saying that the 2020 election was stolen? What specific genocide were you endorsing, when you committed that foul?
This is the kind of ridiculous, obviously fake journalism that you see in the sports world all the time. But it&#8217;s particularly common in the WNBA. None of these reporters posed the same questions to Angel Reese when she <a href="https://x.com/CollinRugg/status/1802396846251487726" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://x.com/CollinRugg/status/1802396846251487726&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1747932600570000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3lmTOe4B1kAEHN4TufWI8M">elbowed</a> Caitlin Clark in the head last year, or when she <a href="https://x.com/SocialMediaAnt1/status/1923844651926143398" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://x.com/SocialMediaAnt1/status/1923844651926143398&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1747932600570000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2WN15k9MXCCHOwd_EIQWUK">celebrated</a> on the sideline when Clark was blindsided and knocked over by another player. None of these people have ever asked whether Brittney Griner is really a woman, either. They don&#8217;t care about questions that are actually grounded in reality. But they&#8217;re asking Caitlin Clark these very stupid questions because, in the alternative universe of the WNBA, they honestly believe that this kind of lazy race-baiting is still persuasive.
But very few people are falling for it. Robert Griffin III, the former Redskins quarterback, was one of the most prominent voices to call out this fraudulent narrative. He <a href="https://x.com/RGIII/status/1923861525778808917" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>, &#8220;After watching Caitlin Clark’s flagrant foul on Angel Reese and the aftermath, there is no way Angel Reese can continue the lie that she doesn’t dislike Caitlin Clark. I know what hatred looks like. Angel Reese HATES Caitlin Clark. Not some &#8216;basketball rivalry hate&#8217; either. Hate.&#8221;
RG3 also posted commentary about the incident, in which he pointed out all the other times that Reese has attacked Caitlin Clark, physically and otherwise. And then he pointed to Reese&#8217;s own words, in which she described herself as one of the league&#8217;s villains. Here&#8217;s part of what he said:

You can agree or disagree with RG3&#8217;s perspective, or not care in the slightest either way. Regardless, in the world of sports commentary, RG3&#8217;s statements crossed a very clear line. He refused to endorse the latest narrative of racial grievance. And therefore, various commentators lined up to attack him in extremely personal terms. No one was more eager to attack RG3 than Ryan Clark, the former NFL player. Watch as Clark unloads on RG3 &#8212; not for his opinions, but for the crime of marrying a white woman. Apparently, because his wife is white, RG3 is disqualified from commenting on any topic involving Caitlin Clark. Watch:

It&#8217;s an incredible window into how racial politics, in every case, demolishes any potential for civilized, rational discussion. It&#8217;s a race to the bottom, every single time. Instead of talking about arguments or substance, everything boils down to your skin color &#8212; or your wife&#8217;s skin color, in this case. And from what I can tell, executives at the WNBA realized how bad this whole narrative was going for them. Therefore, in order to distract from the fake Caitlin Clark controversy and the transparent anti-white rhetoric that ensued, they concocted the idea that the crowd at this game had actually unleashed racial slurs on Angel Reese and her teammates.
This is the AP&#8217;s <a href="https://apnews.com/article/angel-reese-sky-racial-slurs-f77dd6072d1bcb0fc327ed72bbcf0b73" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> on the ongoing investigation: &#8220;The WNBA is investigating racial comments directed toward Angel Reese by fans during the Chicago Sky’s loss to Caitlin Clark and the Fever at Indiana on Saturday, according to a person familiar with the situation. The person spoke to The Associated Press on Sunday on condition of anonymity because the league had not publicly identified the subject of the taunts or who made the allegations. &#8216;The WNBA strongly condemns racism, hate, and discrimination in all forms — they have no place in our league or in society,&#8217; the league said in a statement. &#8216;We are aware of the allegations and are looking into the matter.'&#8221; The article adds that the WNBA Players Union also released a statement, which asserted that &#8220;unacceptable&#8221; and &#8220;hateful&#8221; comments were uttered during the game.
Now, if this sounds familiar, it&#8217;s exactly what happened last September, when I last made the mistake of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/race-baiting-wnba-players-are-sabotaging-their-own-league-out-of-spite" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.dailywire.com/news/race-baiting-wnba-players-are-sabotaging-their-own-league-out-of-spite&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1747932600570000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0iYXGifLbY8N7kHiYLJLGx">talking about</a> the WNBA. Back then, there were reports that slurs had been directed at Brittney Griner while he/she/they was playing a game. But, curiously enough, no audio or video surfaced that proved anyone was uttering those slurs. Even though there were television cameras and smartphones everywhere in the stadium, no one caught any of these naughty words on video. And once again, that&#8217;s the case here. No one can quote these &#8220;racial comments,&#8221; or point to any proof they occurred. In fact, Tyler Marsh, the head coach of the Chicago Sky, said he didn&#8217;t hear any slurs from courtside. The first time he heard about any alleged slurs was when the media told him about them. Watch:

Well, it looks like the KKK ghosts are back again. After their first appearance in September, they&#8217;ve returned to torment the WNBA for reasons that no one can explain. On opening night, these racist ghosts once again purchased tickets to see WNBA games, because of course, racists love spending money on the WNBA. And then, as the game progressed, the racist ghosts decided to drop n-bombs that only the players could hear. The coaches couldn&#8217;t hear them. The TV cameras and cell phones couldn&#8217;t pick them up. But rest assured, the ghosts were definitely being racist. And we should all be very troubled by their behavior.
The WNBA explicitly encourages narratives like this to develop. In fact, just this year, they launched something called &#8220;No Space for Hate,&#8221; which the AP describes as &#8220;a multi-dimensional platform designed to combat hate and promote respect across all WNBA spaces both online and in arenas.&#8221; In other words, they have a whole program that&#8217;s designed to lend credibility to the idea that random people are buying tickets to WNBA games, only to unleash racial slurs once they get there.
In reality, as you can tell from the footage of this game that was uploaded online, the handful of people in attendance weren&#8217;t being racist. They were booing, though, because the product the WNBA sells &#8212; from the quality of the referees to the quality of most of the players &#8212; is complete garbage. The booing is evident in many videos. But the racial slurs were not. And that&#8217;s why, when she was asked about these alleged racial slurs, Angel Reese rattled off a few meaningless statements &#8212; including a reference to the WNBA policy on &#8220;hate speech.&#8221; But at no point did she describe the allegedly &#8220;racist&#8221; remarks that she presumably would have heard, since she was on the court. She&#8217;s not exactly talking like someone who actually heard anything during the game. Even if you don&#8217;t know anything about this particular incident, it doesn&#8217;t sound remotely like she&#8217;s telling the truth. Instead, she&#8217;s making it very clear, once again, that she&#8217;s an actor, and not a particularly convincing one. Her job, as RG3 pointed out, is to play the villain of the WNBA, so that they can generate some drama. These people believe that if they generate enough fake storylines about racist fans and non-existent flagrant fouls, then people might actually watch the games. And then they can scrape together some cash instead of losing another $40 million this year.
But it won&#8217;t work, for the same reason that the BLM hysteria of 2020 ultimately didn&#8217;t work. The WNBA is the perfect encapsulation of every deranged impulse of modern leftism that the rest of society is rejecting. The hoaxes simply aren&#8217;t effective anymore. Manufactured narratives about phantom acts of racism, without any kind of evidence whatsoever, convince no one. And yet, for all the millions of dollars they burn every year on high-priced consultants, the WNBA is one of the few remaining organizations on the planet that doesn&#8217;t seem to realize this. The WNBA stands, virtually alone, as a reminder of what this country would have looked like if we hadn&#8217;t reversed course after the George Floyd hysteria and the &#8220;defund the police&#8221; movement and so on. And in that sense &#8212; and only that sense &#8212; it&#8217;s fair to say that the WNBA, against all odds, actually does serve something of a purpose. It&#8217;s a reminder of a giant bullet that this country dodged. And every time the league releases a dumb statement about &#8220;legitimate basketball plays,&#8221; or some 80-IQ sports commentator accuses Caitlin Clark of racism for committing a foul, we should thank God that the rest of the country has nothing in common with the WNBA.

WNBA star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/caitlin-clark" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Caitlin Clark’s</a> alleged stalker will remain behind bars following his chaotic hearing where he seemingly pleaded guilty following his arrest over the weekend.
In an Indianapolis courtroom on Tuesday, 55-year-old Texas Michael Lewis had several outbursts in which he first declared he was “guilty as charged” before the judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/alleged-caitlin-clark-stalker-says-wants-stay-jail-yells-guilty-charge-rcna187596">NBC News</a> reported.
He yelled “Throw me the booky!” and “I’m free! I guess you got the wrong guy!” while also claiming that his name didn&#8217;t include a “Jr.” in court records, the outlet noted.
During the hearing, the Marion County Superior Court Judge Angela Davis tried to read the charges against him saying he “terrorized, frightened, or threatened” Clark and caused a “reasonable fear of sexual battery.” 
Lewis replied, “Can I say something?” before Davis replied, “Not yet.”
Each time the Texas man would interrupt, the deputies in the court tried to get him to stop and straighten up.

When asked if the man was dealing with mental health issues, Lewis told the court, “I need my medicines.” When the judge inquired if he needed an attorney, the alleged stalker said he couldn’t afford one and that he needed his medication. He was also asked if he lived in Texas, and he replied, “Sort of, I live in my vehicle.” 
The Texas man signed court orders agreeing to stay away from Clark’s home and have no contact with the Indiana Fever star. Judge Davis told him, “If you violate stay away or no contact orders, the court will revoke your bond.&#8221;
The judge ordered that Lewis be held in lieu of a $50,000 bond. Lewis then replied, “I don’t want bond, bail, whatever. I’m here. I’m staying.”
He was charged with one count of stalking, accused of engaging in a “course of conduct involving repeated or continuing harassment of Caitlin Clark that would cause a reasonable person to feel terrorized,” according to court documents from Marion County prosecutors.
On Sunday, Lewis was arrested for felony stalking, accused of making several disturbing, sexually explicit messages and threats online against Clark, before traveling to Indianapolis where he was taken into custody, <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2025/01/13/caitlin-clark-stalking-arrest/?adid=social-tmzlikeshop-ig">TMZ noted</a>.

CNN Republican commentator Scott Jennings got into a heated discussion over WNBA breakout star — and TIME Magazine&#8217;s Athlete of the Year — <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/self-flagellation-caitlin-clark-talks-white-privilege-says-wnba-built-by-black-women">Caitlin Clark</a> with several other panelists on the Abby Phillip-hosted &#8220;CNN NewsNight.&#8221;
Jennings agreed with a number of conservatives who were disappointed to see Clark effectively &#8220;apologize&#8221; for her &#8220;white privilege,&#8221; and said that she had earned the accolade on the merits and people should say so.
&#8220;Caitlin Clark is the best thing to happen to the WNBA, and it’s sad that her co-workers hate her for it,&#8221; Jennings captioned the video clip he shared via X. &#8220;She’ll learn a tough lesson — no matter how much you say &#8216;my truth&#8217; and apologize for your &#8216;white privilege,&#8217; it will never be enough for the woke mob.&#8221;

Cari Champion sparked the exchanged, asking why Clark was being &#8220;bullied&#8221; for admitting to her &#8220;white privilege&#8221; and conceding that black women had &#8220;built&#8221; the WNBA.
&#8220;Why is she being bullied for acknowledging something that&#8217;s smart, truth, and factual?&#8221; Champion asked.

&#8220;Well &#8230; A couple things. Number one, whether you&#8217;re an athlete or, you know, anyone else, if I hear you use the phrase &#8216;my truth,&#8217; I immediately then discount everything else you say. Because there isn&#8217;t &#8216;my truth&#8217; or &#8216;your truth,&#8217; there&#8217;s just the truth,&#8221; Jennings said, and Champion immediately objected, talking over him as he continued, &#8220;And that tells me that your brain has been captured by something that I don&#8217;t really respect.&#8221;
&#8220;That&#8217;s not true. That&#8217;s not true,&#8221; Champion repeated, several times, but Jennings pressed onward.
&#8220;Number two, the attention the league got this year was amazing, and it was all because of her. She is an amazing player,&#8221; Jennings continued, arguing that while the WNBA had existed without Caitlin Clark, it had consistently lost millions of dollars — and she had made the league marketable in a way that it never had been before.
Champion continued to argue that despite losing money the league still existed because of the black women who kept playing — and Jennings pointed out that it might actually have more to do with the investors, who were apparently willing to keep putting money into the league despite losses, who were keeping the business afloat.
Still, Jennings came back to Clark and pointed out the fact that her apparent bending of the knee may not have the desired results.
&#8220;Here&#8217;s the disappointment,&#8221; he concluded. &#8220;I feel a little bad for her, because she&#8217;s gonna learn that it will never be enough no matter how much of the phrasing, no matter how much of the groveling you do, it will never be enough for the people in that league that hate her guts, it will never satisfy them.&#8221;

WNBA star Caitlin Clark acknowledged her supposed &#8220;white&#8221; privilege and said the WNBA was &#8220;built&#8221; by black women during a recent interview with TIME Magazine.
Clark, who has been <a href="https://www.masslive.com/sports/2024/05/caitlin-clark-responds-to-aja-wilsons-comments-on-race-impacting-stars-popularity.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">disparaged</a> by players in the WNBA based on her skin color, was named TIME&#8217;s Athlete of the Year.
&#8220;I want to say I’ve earned every single thing, but as a white person, there is privilege,&#8221; Clark told TIME. &#8220;A lot of those players in the league that have been really good have been black players. This league has kind of been built on them.&#8221;
Clark went on to say that corporations need to invest in black players.
&#8220;The more we can appreciate that, highlight that, talk about that and then continue to have brands and companies invest in those players that have made this league incredible, I think it’s very important,&#8221; she said.
&#8220;I have to continue to try to change that,&#8221; Clark added. &#8220;The more we can elevate black women, that’s going to be a beautiful thing.&#8221;

For example, WNBA player A&#8217;ja Wilson <a href="https://www.masslive.com/sports/2024/05/caitlin-clark-responds-to-aja-wilsons-comments-on-race-impacting-stars-popularity.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> earlier this year that Clark was popular mainly because of her skin color. Another player, DiJonai Carrington, went after Clark for not discussing racism more. Notably, Carrington poked Clark in the eye during a game, though Clark said she thought it was unintentional. Additionally, in a highly controversial move, Clark was not chosen to be on the women&#8217;s Olympic basketball team.

Clark&#8217;s comments on race prompted some backlash online, including from journalist Megyn Kelly, who criticized her for her act of &#8220;self-flagellation.&#8221;

‘Self-Flagellation’: Caitlin Clark Talks ‘White’ Privilege, Says WNBA ‘Built’ By Black Women

There are a lot of stories out there about lottery winners who go on to destroy their lives. Something like 70% of them supposedly go bankrupt within a few years. And it&#8217;s not hard to see why. When you give a lot of money and attention to a person who didn&#8217;t earn any of it, that person doesn&#8217;t suddenly change overnight. Instead, more often than not, all of their worst character traits are amplified ten times over. And in many cases, that leads to a very public and humiliating collapse.
This is a principle that doesn&#8217;t just apply to individuals. It applies to organizations too. Unearned fame and fortune are far more destructive than they might appear. And right now, there&#8217;s no organization on the planet that proves this point more than the WNBA. The league just posted its highest average game viewership in 24 years. They&#8217;re bringing in massive new sponsorships, at least by the league&#8217;s standards. They&#8217;re selling out arenas, which used to be unheard of. This should be a dream come true for everyone involved in the WNBA — from the executives to the players to the reporters who, for their sins in a past life, have been cursed with the job of covering a women&#8217;s basketball league. Everyone should be overjoyed.
But there&#8217;s a big problem. All of this success — every bit of it — is due to the presence of one player in the league: a generational talent named <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/caitlin-clark" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Caitlin Clark</a>. She&#8217;s the reason the WNBA just won the lottery. Without Caitlin Clark, no one cares about any of these players or the league. With her, most people still don’t care. But a lot more people care than did before. And everyone knows that. Therefore, everyone in the league other than Caitlin Clark is doing exactly what so many lottery winners do. They&#8217;re allowing all of their worst personality traits to surface. They can&#8217;t help themselves.
Several months ago, I <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/white-player-diversifies-the-wnba-champions-of-diversity-are-somehow-not-happy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">covered</a> the many cheap shots that Clark has had to deal with on the court. Some of these cheap shots look a lot like <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/wnba-upgrades-foul-on-star-caitlin-clark-to-flagrant-1-violation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">criminal assault</a>, but of course they weren&#8217;t prosecuted. I also talked about the many &#8220;champions of diversity&#8221; in the media who are strangely very unhappy about the diversity that Clark has brought to the WNBA, a league that&#8217;s mostly made up of black players. There&#8217;s been a lot of resentment in this league lately, in particular since this season began.
And the thing about resentment, as we all know, is that it tends to fester over time. It gets worse and worse. And that&#8217;s exactly what we&#8217;re seeing now that the season is winding down and the playoffs are underway. Over the past week, race hysteria in the WNBA has somehow reached yet another inflection point. The league is currently in the midst of the single most contrived racism scandal in any professional sport, at least since the fake noose in Bubba Wallace’s garage.

Specifically, a bunch of WNBA players have come out claiming that they&#8217;ve been victimized by &#8220;racial slurs&#8221; and other racist attacks. In other words, they are now accusing the people who have started showing up to WNBA games — for the first time in more than two decades — of being horrible racists.
Now for the fine print. None of these &#8220;racial slurs&#8221; — some of which have supposedly occurred during games — have actually been caught on camera. There&#8217;s no visual or audio evidence that might substantiate any of this. There isn&#8217;t a single credible report. And that&#8217;s extremely unusual, obviously, given that there are cameras and smartphones at every WNBA game. 
You&#8217;d think that, if a mob of racists were buying up WNBA tickets so they could heckle the players with racial slurs, then the video would be all over the internet. But those videos are not all over the internet. They aren’t anywhere on the internet. So instead we have to take the players&#8217; word for it. 
Here&#8217;s Brittney Griner, for example:

The question was about the massive growth of this league, which was dead in the water just a year ago. &#8220;What do you think of all the new fans,&#8221; asks the reporter. And instead of some gratitude — some appreciation for the people who saved the WNBA, who pay to come out to see bad players like Brittney Griner — we get resentment. The fans are racist, says Griner. They buy tickets just so they can yell racist things. And not only that — these racists happen to be magicians. They can shout racist things while also being completely invisible. You can hear what they say, but it&#8217;s impossible to record it or broadcast it anywhere. They&#8217;re like ghosts. They just appear in the stands, shout the N-word a few times, and then they disappear.
Put aside the fact that Griner is obviously lying. Let&#8217;s say, hypothetically, that someone did shout a slur at a WNBA game, and it really bothered Brittney Griner. Nothing about the answer makes sense, even in that context. Why would that be the first thing that Griner mentions when the reporter asks about the fans? Why not say, &#8220;The overwhelming majority of the fans are great people, and I&#8217;m so happy they&#8217;re paying money to see me playing basketball as badly as I do&#8221;? 
If anyone should be striking a note of gratitude, it&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/brittney-griner">Brittney Griner</a>. Less than two years ago, the Biden administration traded away a Russian arms dealer — someone who conspired to murder American citizens — in order to get Griner out of a Russian prison. So Griner has every reason to be extremely grateful to this country — not just because of the paycheck for playing basketball poorly, but also because the United States is a lot nicer than a Siberian gulag. At the very least, you&#8217;d expect Griner to be happier than the usual WNBA player. But that&#8217;s obviously not the case.

Of course the media — especially the sports media — is uncritically reporting on this phantom crisis of racism at WNBA games. Just search “WNBA racism” in google and you’ll get dozens and dozens of mainstream media articles frantically shouting about the racism crisis in the WNBA. Many other players have raised the alarm about this invented epidemic. Here’s another one:

Notice the sad music in the background. Law enforcement might have to get involved. WNBA games have become Klan rallies, from what we’re told. You won’t see any of that on video or hear any of it. But take the WNBA’s word for it. Take the media’s word for it. Yet some WNBA players are still upset that the media isn’t making an even bigger deal out of the fake racism scandal. Reading from USA Today:
<blockquote>“Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese says the media should have done more to combat the ongoing issue of racism in women&#8217;s basketball before it reached a boiling point. The WNBA on Wednesday condemned all ‘racist, derogatory or threatening comments’ that have been directed toward players after Connecticut Sun All-Star Alyssa Thomas called out &#8220;racial comments from the Indiana Fever fan base&#8221; following the Sun&#8217;s series-clinching 87-81 victory over the Fever. Reese said this has been a long-standing issue, noting that she&#8217;s been the subject of racially motivated hate for some time. Reese, however, said her pleas for accountability and action have been repeatedly ignored. ‘The media has benefited from my pain &amp; me being villainized to create a narrative,’ <a href="https://twitter.com/Reese10Angel/status/1839457079544656170">she wrote on X</a>. ‘They allowed this. This was beneficial to them&#8230; Y’all a little late to the party and could have tried to put out this fire way before it started.’”</blockquote>
Yes, it’s a fire raging. You won’t see the fire. But it’s there. Trust Angel Reese on this one. This shaming obviously had the desired effect on some in the media. Which led to this line of questioning:

&#8220;NaLyssa, how did you personally deal with the hate, the racism, the attention, the scrutiny?&#8221; If you listen to these press conferences, you&#8217;d think that skinheads are rushing the court and assaulting the players in the middle of the games. At the very least, you&#8217;d expect that this player would&#8217;ve been subjected to some kind of horrible racist chant from one of the WNBA&#8217;s racist ghost fans.
Here&#8217;s what actually happened. NaLyssa&#8217;s has a girlfriend named DiJonai Carrington who also plays in the WNBA. And recently, Carrington nearly took Caitlin Clark&#8217;s eye out on the court just a few minutes into a game. This is one of many flagrant fouls against Clark that have occurred since she started in the league, and this one wasn&#8217;t even called. Watch:

After this foul, as you&#8217;d expect, there were a lot of angry fans on social media. To a lot of people, this looked intentional. So in response, a USA Today reporter named Christine Brennan did what any reasonable &#8220;sports journalist&#8221; would do. She asked Carrington if the hit was intentional. Watch:

These are obviously reasonable questions from Christine Brennan. They&#8217;re not &#8220;racist.&#8221; They&#8217;re not offensive. They&#8217;re the bare minimum you&#8217;d expect under the circumstances. But Carrington immediately gets snippy and obnoxious in response. And then, just for asking these questions, Brennan — who, incidentally, is one of the biggest <a href="https://x.com/SbondyNBA/status/1839734099054887063" target="_blank" rel="noopener">champions</a> of women&#8217;s sports in the industry — is now getting dogpiled.
In particular, the WNBA Players&#8217; Association <a href="https://www.instagram.com/thewnbpa/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=b7e4450c-3bc6-4366-80b3-052bb522ae36">just put out</a> one of the most demented statements imaginable. They wrote:
<blockquote>We call B.S. &#8230; To unprofessional members of the media like Christine Brennan: You are not fooling anyone. That so-called interview in the name of journalism was a blatant attempt to bait a professional athlete into participating in a narrative that is false and designed to fuel racist, homophobic, and misogynistic vitriol on social media. You cannot hide behind your tenure.</blockquote>
The statement then said Brennan was guilty of &#8220;abusing&#8221; her &#8220;privileges,&#8221; and charged that she does not &#8220;deserve&#8221; her &#8220;credentials.&#8221; It continues: 
<blockquote>We call on USA Today Network to review its Principles of Ethical Conduct for Newsrooms and address what we believe is a violation of several core principles, including seeking and reporting the truth. USA Today Sports should explain why a reporter with clear bias and ulterior motives was assigned to cover the league. We also urge the league to review its policies and take measures to prevent such issues, protecting the integrity of the game and its players.</blockquote>
So we&#8217;re at the point now that journalists can&#8217;t even ask black players about fouls they commit against Caitlin Clark without being accused of racism for asking the question. That&#8217;s how much racism there is in the WNBA. Even asking questions is now racist. Obviously there&#8217;s no reason to take any of these people seriously. 
But, just to make sure I wasn&#8217;t missing anything, I went looking to see if I could find the most egregious examples of racism in the WNBA. And I came across this monologue from a sports commentator named Nick Wright. It&#8217;s from a couple of days ago and it’s about as unhinged as you&#8217;d expect. Watch:

His grand example proving the WNBA is racist is that a woman mocked the player who gave Caitlin Clark a black eye with her nails. Apparently that&#8217;s racist because some black people have long nails. That&#8217;s it. That&#8217;s why this podcast host is invoking the Civil War. Mockery of WNBA players is a threat to the entire country, apparently — at least if those WNBA players are black. If they&#8217;re white, you can mock them all you want. You can assault them on the court, in fact.
What this fake outrage tells you is that &#8220;racism&#8221; isn&#8217;t really what they&#8217;re upset about. This is just too manufactured and overblown to take seriously. They&#8217;re reaching — to a degree that&#8217;s comical and delusional at the same time. This scandal has been invented, out of whole cloth, by WNBA players for one reason, and one reason only: They are wracked with envy and resentment that the most popular player in the league is white. What they&#8217;re really claiming is that Caitlin Clark, by bringing a bunch of white fans to the league, has naturally also brought racism. Basically they&#8217;re complaining that too many white people are watching women&#8217;s basketball now. And for her part, Caitlin Clark has basically <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/caitlin-clark-addresses-racism-following-wnba-statement-those-arent-fans-those-are-trolls" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gone along</a> with this narrative. She made a statement denouncing all of the made up racism.

The racial hysteria reminds me of the summer of 2020, just playing out on a much, much, much smaller stage. A white woman playing basketball has become the WNBA&#8217;s George Floyd moment. And just like we saw with the George Floyd situation, before long, people are going to start pushing back. No normal person wants to pay money to support a team, only to be told they&#8217;re racist and horrible. That&#8217;s a big part of why the DEI grift has begun to collapse.

Indiana Fever star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/caitlin-clark">Caitlin Clark</a> was all class when she reacted to being left off the roster for Team USA this summer at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
In a clip posted on <a href="https://x.com/ClayTravis/status/1799879205426974899">X</a>, the WNBA rookie was asked by reporters about not making the team and the level of disappointment she had about it. Clark responded that she had none and only wished those who made the cut the best of luck.
“Honestly, no disappointment. I think it just gives you something to work for,” Clark told the press. “That’s a dream. Hopefully one day I can be there. I think it’s just a little more motivation. You remember that and hopefully, when four years comes back around, I can be there.”

&#8220;I&#8217;m excited for the girls that are on the team,&#8221; she added. &#8220;I know it&#8217;s the most competitive team in the world and I know it could have gone either way &#8212; me being on the team or me not being on the team.”
“I&#8217;m going to be rooting them on to win gold,” Clark continued. &#8220;I was a kid that grew up watching the Olympics, so it will be fun to watch them.”
Fever coach Christie Sides told reporters that when the 2024 WNBA drafted guard learned the news that she wasn’t on the team, she said Clark told her, &#8220;[T]hey woke a monster,” <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/caitlin-clark-epically-responds-not-making-olympic-team-1910202">Newsweek</a> noted.
&#8220;The thing she said was, &#8216;Hey, Coach, they woke a monster,&#8217; which I thought was awesome,&#8221; Sides said. &#8220;She&#8217;s young, she&#8217;s going to have so many opportunities in the future.&#8221;
Not everyone was as gracious as Clark about the snub. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/stephen-a-smith">Sports broadcaster</a> <a href="https://www.on3.com/her/news/olympics-stephen-a-smith-slams-team-usa-womens-basketball-for-caitlin-clark-snub-how-could-you-be-that-idiotic/">Stephen A. Smith</a> slammed the move and said it was a case of “idiocy.”
“This is about what I will personally label ‘The Idiocy of Team USA Women’s Basketball.’ How dare you make this decision,” Smith said. “It’s stupid. I want all the ladies on this squad to know every single one of y’all deserve it. Caitlin Clark does not deserve a spot ahead of any of the players on this roster — if we’re talking just basketball. You know we’re not.”
“It was a stupid decision,” he added. “Because it compromises what your ultimate goal is, which is to elevate the WNBA brand. How could you be that idiotic and not make that call, when throughout history, Team USA has been, in part, about marketing? It’s dumb, period.”
Barstool’s <a href="https://x.com/stoolpresidente/status/1799467905178091598">Dave Portnoy</a> went viral when he posted about the move, calling it dumb and more.
“Hey dummies, for the first time in the history of basketball you have arguably a player who is the most popular player in the world,” Portnoy said in a clip posted on X. “And you leave her off the Olympics team?”
“It’s not only a showcase for her. It’s for the sport and the other WNBA players who are on this team. How dumb, how braindead, how idiotic do the people running this thing have to be?” he added. 
Clark could still make an appearance at the Olympics if a player gets injured resulting in an alternate making the team. However, in the past, alternates have never been announced, so there’s no indication of whether she’d make that short list, <a href="https://www.espn.com/wnba/story/_/id/40314567/caitlin-clark-says-not-disappointed-olympics-snub">ESPN</a> noted.
