Squad member Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) will not primary challenge Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) in the 2026 election. She is instead opting to run for re-election to her current seat.
“Hearing from so many people from throughout our Commonwealth encouraging me to run for the United States Senate was deeply humbling and a testament to the strength of our movement,” Pressley <a href="https://x.com/AyannaPressley/status/1995949427249610967">posted to X</a> in a statement on Tuesday.
“It would be an honor to serve the whole Commonwealth-but with our daughter in her last year at home before college and a district that has been in the crosshairs of this White House, I am certain that the Massachusetts 7th is where I belong in this moment,” she continued.

The only major primary challenger to Markey next year for the seat is now Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA).
The move comes as the Democratic Party is at a political crossroads in terms of both the age and ideology of candidates it runs. The congresswoman is 51 years old, and Markey is 79. Moulton is even younger at 47, and he’s been an advocate for having different Democratic leadership in the Senate besides Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
&#8220;Tonight is another example of why we need new leadership. If [Schumer] were an effective leader, he would have united his caucus to vote ‘No’ tonight and hold the line on healthcare. Maybe now [Markey] will finally join me in pledging not to vote for Schumer?&#8221; Moulton posted to X on November 9 when a handful of Senate Democrats voted with Republicans to take steps toward reopening the federal government.
As for Pressley, she is one of the original four members of the far-left “Squad,” which started with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Pressley, who all took office in 2019.
The debate has manifested most notably when President Joe Biden was swapped out for Vice President Kamala Harris as the 2024 presidential nominee. However, it is also showing up in other places, including the Maine Senate primary between 41-year-old veteran Graham Platner and 77-year-old Gov. Janet Mills.
“Congresswoman Pressley is a powerful fighter for working families and a national leader for her work in Congress,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) posted in response to Pressley’s announcement.
“No one fights harder than [Ayanna Pressley], and she will continue to be a strong, effective voice for Massachusetts,” she added. If Warren opts for re-election, it would not be until 2030, which is the year she turns 81.
Markey’s seat is rated as “Solid Democrat” by the Cook Political Report.

Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) took to X to complain about the redistricting fight currently embroiling the Texas State House, claiming that Texas Republicans were attempting to use a newly redrawn map to &#8220;rig&#8221; the 2026 midterm election.
As the Massachusetts-based far-left Squad member complained about what she said was a &#8220;cowardly, undemocratic power grab,&#8221; critics quickly pointed out that her own district is the result of an obviously gerrymandered map created by the Democrats who have controlled her state&#8217;s legislature for more than two decades.

A number of Texas Democrats <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/texas-dems-cant-win-redistricting-fight-so-they-bravely-turn-tail-and-flee-the-state">broke quorum</a> several days earlier, bringing the legislative special session to a halt by fleeing to Illinois because they did not have the votes to stop the redistricting plan by legitimate means. In their absence, both Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) and Attorney General Ken Paxton (R-TX) have threatened to take legal action, saying that they will petition a judge to declare the seats vacant if the AWOL Democrats do not return to finish the special session by Friday.
Texas Democrats attempted a similar stunt in 2021 as an effort to block certain provisions of a voting rights bill, and Abbott threatened at the time to withhold their pay.

A Democrat congresswoman has revived an effort to provide reparations payments to black Americans for slavery, introducing legislation that would cost trillions of dollars.
Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA) <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/race-politics/5302622-democrats-reintroduce-reparations-resolution/">reintroduced</a> the Reparations Now resolution, which was first introduced by former Rep. Cori Bush in 2023.
Lee says that the funds are owed to black Americans. “Black folks are owed more than thoughts and prayers. We’re owed repair, we’re owed restitution, and we’re owed justice,” Lee said at a press conference as she announced the reintroduction of the bill. “We’re here to say that there’s no more waiting, no more watering down, no more putting justice on layaway.”
If enacted, the bill is estimated to cost a whopping <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/far-left-congresswoman-revives-ousted-squad-dems-reparations-push-black-americans">$14 trillion</a>. The gross domestic product of the entire United States in 2023, by comparison, was <a href="https://www.bea.gov/news/2024/gross-domestic-product-fourth-quarter-and-year-2023-second-estimate">just over</a> $27 trillion, while the federal government’s entire budget in that same year was <a href="https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/jy1829">$6.1 trillion</a>.
Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), a member of the far-Left coalition of Democrats referred to as “the squad,” echoed Lee’s remarks and accused Trump’s policies of being “anti-blackness on steroids.”
“We will not back down in our pursuit of racial justice,” Pressley said. “The antidote to anti-Blackness is to be pro-Black, and we will do it unapologetically. The United States government owes us a debt, and we need reparations now.”
Cori Bush, who originally introduced the bill in 2023 before losing her reelection bid, joined the two at the press conference. “You cannot turn your back on the demand for reparations, because until there is repair, there will be no justice,” Bush said. “And where there is no justice, we will continue to fight. We’re not going anywhere.”
The legislation, which died after it was first introduced in 2023, has little chance of advancing in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.

“Reparations based on race or historical grievances are not only unfair: they’re unconstitutional and divisive,” Babin said as he announced the legislation, which would strip federal funding from states and localities that pass reparations bills. “Our nation should focus on policies that promote economic opportunity for all, not government handouts based on ancestry.”

There are many ways in which the House of Representatives is feeling the effects of the absence of former Congresswoman Cori Bush. You might remember that Cori Bush was the only member of Congress in the history of this country who <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/06/17/us-news/cori-bush-doubled-down-on-bizarre-faith-healing-claims-in-tv-interview-my-hand-just-began-to-move/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> to have performed a bona fide miracle while in office. Specifically, in a televised interview, Bush said that she once cured a woman&#8217;s cancer simply by placing her hands on the woman&#8217;s body. As she put it: &#8220;This [homeless] lady came to us, and she had these tumors, and she wanted us to like, feel them. &#8230; I laid hands on her and prayed, and then I felt that my hand was no longer touching a tumor. It shrank along with the others on her body. &#8230; And the lumps that were there were no longer there. She was so happy, and she went on about her day.&#8221;
It&#8217;s too bad that this homeless woman disappeared, because this kind of interaction seems like the thing that cancer researchers might have been interested in following up on. But in any event, Bush didn&#8217;t stop there, because as we all know, you need *two* miracles in order to qualify for sainthood. Normally, these miraculous events occur after the saint has died. But Bush doesn&#8217;t have time for that. Therefore, she claimed that she also once helped a toddler take her first steps in St. Louis, even though the child was gravely ill. “I carried the child from the prayer room in the back of the church out into the sanctuary . . . ‘Walk,’ I said gently to the three-year-old girl, ‘You will walk.’ And this girl took her first step,” Bush wrote.
Because Bush was voted out of office in the last election, unfortunately, we don&#8217;t hear stories like this anymore. Therefore, until Jesus himself returns, we can assume that countless hobos in St. Louis will continue to suffer needlessly from cancer and all kinds of other horrible afflictions. But despite that sad reality, it&#8217;s not all bad news. Consider the fact that, without Cori Bush&#8217;s voice to amplify them, a lot of fraudulent BLM narratives will die before they get started. We also won&#8217;t have to listen to her tributes to Michael Brown and George Floyd every year. So that&#8217;s something, at least. Yes, we&#8217;ve lost a miracle worker. But we&#8217;ve gained some peace and quiet.
Or at least, we thought we gained some peace and quiet. At the moment, there is a concerted effort underway among House Democrats to revive the &#8220;legacy&#8221; of Cori Bush, such as it is. But they&#8217;re not revising the whole &#8220;bid for sainthood&#8221; routine. Instead, they&#8217;re doubling down on Cori Bush&#8217;s true passion in life, which is whipping up a race war. And to that end, Democrats are revitalizing one of Bush&#8217;s dumbest ideas, which is her plan to enact trillions of dollars in reparations.

Representative Summer Lee led the reintroduction of the Reparations Now resolution, which was first introduced in 2023 by former Representative Cori Bush. The resolution calls for the federal government to allocate trillions of dollars in reparations to Black Americans.&#8221;

Keep in mind, the entire federal budget for the last fiscal year was around $7 trillion. So we&#8217;re talking about spending a very significant chunk of the federal budget on handouts to black people, essentially. And on top of these trillions of dollars in reparations, Cory Booker and Jasmine Crockett are planning to introduce the &#8220;Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Commission Act,&#8221; which would supposedly “acknowledge and memorialize the arrival of the first slave ship in the United States and the injustices suffered by people of color throughout history.”
Here are Ayanna Pressley and Summer Lee to explain. And I promise these clips aren&#8217;t sped up in any way, at least as far as I know. They&#8217;re simply talking really, really fast for some reason. Watch:

Now, before we go any further with the specifics of this legislation, I have to provide something of a disclosure at this point. We&#8217;ve talked about the issue of reparations many times on this show, to be sure. But now I have a very personal stake in the issue. And that&#8217;s because recently, and somewhat unexpectedly &#8212; and I say this with nothing but modesty in my heart &#8212; I have become something of a pioneer when it comes to the issue of reparations in the United States. In fact, according to all available information, I am the only person in America who has actually paid reparations, along with the famed author Robin DiAngelo.
Now, you might point out that I was undercover doing a movie when I paid my reparations. And you might point out that I took my reparations back immediately after the cameras were off. And you might point out that my reparations were like $20. And all of that&#8217;s true. But it&#8217;s not the important thing to keep in mind here. The important thing is that I&#8217;m an expert in this issue, and therefore, I have no choice but to chime in and provide my analysis.
And with that in mind, the first thing that needs to be said is that, if we really want &#8220;reparations&#8221; for the descendants of slaves, then we&#8217;re going to spend a lot more than a few trillion dollars. That&#8217;s because every single person who&#8217;s alive right now on the planet, if you go back far enough, has ancestors who were slaves. Period, no exceptions. The Romans alone enslaved millions of people from all over the world. So did Egypt, Greece, China, the Persians, the Russians, the Mayans, the Aztecs, and Ottomans, and so on.
And that&#8217;s not even getting into indentured servitude. Take a look at what happened to Irish Catholics in the 17th century in places like Barbados, for example. Technically, many of these Irishmen became &#8220;indentured servants,&#8221; not slaves. But in many cases, that meant that they were treated even worse than slaves, since they weren&#8217;t expected to work for their entire lives. Roughly half of them died within four years, by some estimates. As the researcher Michael Mahoney <a href="https://blog.nationalarchives.gov.uk/irish-indentured-labour-in-the-caribbean/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pointed out</a>: &#8220;John Scott, an English adventurer who travelled in the West Indies during the Commonwealth, saw Irish servants working in field gangs with slaves, ‘without stockings under the scorching sun’. The Irish, he wrote, were &#8216;derided by the negroes, and branded with the Epithet of ‘white slaves.&#8221; &#8230; Once in the Caribbean, many plantation owners considered servants and freemen from Ireland as a potentially subversive lot who had to be controlled and kept in a labouring status. Punishments for attempted escapes included branding the letters ‘FT’ (Fugitive Traitor) on the servant’s forehead. One assembly member in Barbados is quoted in 1667 as stating, ‘We have more than a good many Irish amongst us, therefore I am for the downright Scott, who I am certain will fight without a crucifix about his neck.'&#8221;
In other words, there&#8217;s obvious anti-Catholic bigotry at work here, and in many cases, these Irish servants were treated far worse than slaves as they worked alongside them. And this is just one of dozens more examples. Here&#8217;s another. Did you know that, in 1797, 20% of the U.S. federal budget &#8212; a total of one million dollars at the time &#8212; went to paying tribute to Muslim nations in North Africa, so that they&#8217;d stop enslaving white people? This was a big business for them; in total, they enslaved more than a million whites from both Europe and the United States. This was during the Barbary Wars. For context, today, we don&#8217;t spend anywhere near 20% of the U.S. budget on defense spending. But in 1797, we spent 20% of the budget on ransom payments to Algiers. And as we did so, the Africans made sure to mock Americans at every opportunity. The tribute was ultimately ferried to Constantinople by the frigate USS George Washington, and along the way, the Africans forced the American warship to fly an Ottoman flag. This was sadistic brutality at every level. They only stopped enslaving white people when they were forced to do so.
These are chapters from American history that you don&#8217;t hear much about. Certainly, smooth-brained race hustlers like Ayanna Pressley won&#8217;t mention any of this. That&#8217;s because, as always, their goal isn&#8217;t actually to have a serious discussion about reparations &#8212; to the extent it&#8217;s even possible to do so. They know that this resolution has no chance of passing in either chamber of Congress, much less being signed into law. They know that this is a purely performative piece of legislation that&#8217;s intended to stoke racial conflict, and enrage as many people as possible so that they&#8217;ll feel entitled and envious. And then they might finally start rioting, as Democrats desperately want them to do.
Of course, indirect, inexplicit reparations have already been paid &#8212; in the form of DEI policies, affirmative action, the welfare state, and every other policy put in place in the name of white guilt. Most of the federal government is a kind of make-work program for certain demographics, to funnel them taxpayer money without any accountability. And we see what good all of that has done for the black community. But explicit reparations &#8212; the kind where black Americans get money simply for being black Americans &#8212; will almost certainly never happen. From a political perspective, it&#8217;s not feasible. This is yet another failed idea from the Cori Bush playbook, one among many.
At the same time, it&#8217;s interesting to note that this legislation comes at the very moment that white South Africans are fleeing their homeland, seeking refuge in the United States. They&#8217;re being forcibly evicted from their own homes solely because of their skin color, as we&#8217;ve discussed several times this week. And you know what that means: There&#8217;s about to be a lot more room in Africa for any supposedly oppressed group in the United States, including congresswomen like Ayanna Pressley. So maybe there&#8217;s an opportunity here for a kind of &#8220;reparation through repatriation.&#8221; Maybe we can offer some of these Democrats a taxpayer-funded, all-expenses-paid trip to whatever lands their ancestors came from. Since we&#8217;re judging everyone by their ancestors, it seems more than appropriate. Plus, they&#8217;ll gain access to plenty of fertile farmland in South Africa, as Don Lemon often reminds us. The opportunity for untold riches, in a land totally devoid of white people, is right there for the taking.
Will Ayanna Pressley and Summer Lee and all of these other Democrats seize that opportunity? Of course not. That&#8217;s because they know that, when given the opportunity, they can&#8217;t govern. They can&#8217;t improve anyone&#8217;s lives. They certainly can&#8217;t manage a farm. All they&#8217;re capable of doing is demonizing white people and looting the treasury. And without white people to demonize, there won&#8217;t be any money to loot. That&#8217;s why &#8220;reparations&#8221; is a losing issue for Democrats. It&#8217;s also why South Africa is about to collapse entirely. And it&#8217;s why, as more Americans wake up to the reality of what&#8217;s happening, politicians like Ayanna Pressley and Summer Lee and Ilhan Omar will go the way of Cori Bush. They&#8217;ll be removed from Congress by the voters. That is the outcome these anti-white politicians are apparently clamoring for. And now that they&#8217;ve introduced this reparations bill once again, and made it clear they have no interest in representing all Americans regardless of race, we should give it to them.

Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) posted a harsh criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday morning as reports surfaced of Iran launching a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-iran-fires-100-ballistic-missiles-at-israel?topStoryPosition=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">massive missile attack</a> on Israel.
Pressley blamed Netanyahu and the Israeli military for &#8220;escalating violence&#8221; in the Middle East and claimed that Israel&#8217;s actions have &#8220;incit[ed] a regional war.&#8221; The Democrat posted the criticism of Israel as Iran fired approximately 200 missiles at the U.S. ally.
&#8220;Netanyahu’s invasion of Lebanon is putting millions of people at risk, forcing thousands to be displaced, and inciting a regional war,&#8221; she <a href="https://x.com/RepPressley/status/1841155189685850592" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>. &#8220;The escalating violence must end. In Lebanon, in Gaza, and across the region.&#8221;

Many of the social media posts showing video of Iran&#8217;s attack on Israel went up just minutes after Pressley posted her criticism of Israel on X. As of Tuesday afternoon, Pressley has yet to post anything in response to Iran&#8217;s attack on Israel.
The Democrat has <a href="https://x.com/RepPressley/status/1795464068402123236" target="_blank" rel="noopener">routinely</a> <a href="https://x.com/RepPressley/status/1718034149888471402" target="_blank" rel="noopener">condemned</a> Israel after Hamas launched a brutal attack on the country and sparked a war on October 7, 2023. Israel has responded by taking out much of Hamas&#8217; and Hezbollah&#8217;s leadership while also targeting other Iranian-backed terrorists in Yemen and Lebanon.
Most of the responses to Pressley&#8217;s X post slammed the Democrat congresswoman for condemning Israel as it was under attack.

Shortly before Iran launched a barrage of ballistic missiles at Israel, at least eight people were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/eight-dead-seven-wounded-in-tel-aviv-terrorist-attack?topStoryPosition=2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">killed,</a> and seven people were wounded in a shooting in Tel Aviv.

&#8220;Squad&#8221; member Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13034023/ayanna-pressley-says-walgreens-racist-store-closures-high-crime-areas.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused</a> Walgreens of racism after the company closed a pharmacy in her district.
Walgreens <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11965589/The-stores-closed-doors-rampant-theft.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">closed</a> a store in Chicago in January 2023 and three more in March 2023; two of them in Texas and one in Florida. Last summer, the company <a href="https://patch.com/illinois/deerfield/walgreens-closing-150-stores-nationwide-summer-2024-spokesperson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acknowledged</a> it would close 150 stores across the country by August of 2024.
“Walgreens is planning to close yet another pharmacy in the Massachusetts 7th, this time on Warren Street in Roxbury, a community that is 85% black and Latino,” Pressley said on the House floor. “This closure is a part of a larger trend of abandoning low-income communities like the previous closures in Mattapan and Hyde Park, both in the Massachusetts 7th. When a Walgreens leaves a neighborhood, they disrupt the entire community and they take with them baby formula, diapers, asthma inhalers, life-saving medications, and, of course, jobs.”
“These closures are not arbitrary and they are not innocent,” Pressley charged. “They are life-threatening acts of racial and economic discrimination.”
“That is why I joined with Senators Markey and Warren to demand answers from Walgreens&#8217; CEO,” she continued. “Why was there no community input? No adequate notice to customers? And no transition resources to prevent gaps in health care? Shame on you, Walgreens. Having a website with talking points about health equity and underserved communities is not enough. Walgreens is a multi-billion-dollar corporation that needs to put their money where their mouth is and stop divesting from Black and brown communities.”
Walgreens said it would transfer patient files and prescriptions to a Walgreens roughly one mile away, while offering free same-day delivery of prescriptions for 90 days. “For non-pharmacy items, the store said it would do free same-day delivery for 90 days and waive the $35 minimum,” Boston 25 <a href="https://www.boston25news.com/news/local/fourth-walgreens-pharmacy-boston-set-close/V33AWV5B5BGQTAPAA5QDTE3WZY/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.

In July 2023, at the Walgreens that reputedly had the highest theft rate in the nation, located in San Francisco, a CNN correspondent reporting on the store chaining its freezers’ doors shut <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/07/25/reporter-catches-thefts-mid-segment-at-most-robbed-walgreens-in-us/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">personally witnessed</a> three robberies as she conducted her report at the store.

ABC, NBC, and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/did-hamas-write-this-cbs-trashed-for-gaza-hospital-story-that-still-blames-israel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CBS</a> News have given zero airtime to the &#8220;Squad&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hamas-supporting-democrats-and-why-the-democrats-wont-condemn-them" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hamas-supporting Democrats</a> following the terrorist attacks against <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/three-big-lies-the-west-tells-itself-about-israel-and-hamas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Israel</a> on October 7 that resulted in the deaths of at least 1,400 Israelis.
The broadcast networks&#8217; evening newscasts between Oct. 7 &#8211; Oct. 22 have not reported on a single comment or action made by the anti-Israel Democrats, allowing them to escape scrutiny from the public and presenting a false image that Democrats are unified in their support of Israel, according to a new study from the <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/bill-dagostino/2023/10/24/study-abc-cbs-and-nbc-are-shielding-pro-hamas-democrats-public" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Media Research Center</a>.
Analysts said that despite the networks giving a total of 525 minutes of air time to discuss what&#8217;s been happening in Gaza and with Israel, not not one of three broadcast networks made a single mention of the &#8220;Squad&#8221; Democrats&#8217; numerous actions and remarks against Israel.  The study included these seven members of the group: Reps. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/aoc-desantis-saying-palestinians-are-anti-semitic-is-incredibly-destructive-and-dangerous" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez</a> (D-NY), <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ilhan-omar-promotes-photo-falsely-showing-dead-palestinian-children" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ilhan Omar</a> (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lawmaker-calls-for-tlaib-to-lose-clearance-over-security-concerns-her-allegiance-lies-with-hamas">Rashida Tlaib</a> (D-MI), Reps. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), Cori Bush (D-MO), and Summer Lee (D-PA).
Such remarks include &#8220;calling Israel apartheid,&#8221; &#8220;accusing Israel of war crimes,&#8221; and not &#8220;cosigning&#8221; an &#8220;anti-Hamas resolution.&#8221; Following the attack on October 7, the study found that not one of the broadcast evening news mentioned that Omar joined Bush and Tlaib in calling on Congress to cease military aid for Israel.
On October 11, a resolution was introduced which affirmed support of Israel and condemned Hamas&#8217;s &#8220;barbaric&#8221; attack. Not one of those 7 Squad members signed it and that was never mentioned on CBS, ABC or NBC.
Omar, Bush and Tlaib all repeatedly promoted the lie blaming Israel for bombing a hospital inside Gaza, which was actually the result of a rocket misfired by Hamas hitting a parking lot, not a hospital. Again, none of this was reported by those three news broadcasts.
On October 17, Tlaib tweeted the false claim and it remains on X at the time of this publication.
&#8220;Israel just bombed the Baptist Hospital killing 500 Palestinians (doctors, children, patients) just like that,&#8221; Tlaib posted on <a href="https://x.com/RashidaTlaib/status/1714342122185191596?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">social media</a>. &#8220;POTUS this is what happens when you refuse to facilitate a ceasefire &amp; help de-escalate. Your war and destruction only approach has opened my eyes and many Palestinian Americans and Muslims (sic) Americans like me. We will remember where you stood.&#8221;
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrats-and-news-orgs-that-promoted-false-palestinian-claims-that-israel-bombed-hospital" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Omar</a> also promoted it and none of this was mentioned in the evening news broadcasts on those three networks.
At a pro-Hamas rally at the U.S. Capitol on October 18, Tlaib repeated the lie when she told the crowd, &#8220;[We] continue to watch people think it&#8217;s okay to bomb a hospital &#8230;&#8221; and, according to MRC, none of this was deemed important for the evening broadcasts to include in its coverage.

&#8220;No doubt about it, our border is secure,&#8221; Pressley <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTymwbjuh_I" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Wednesday on CNN. &#8220;And we are in the midst of a humanitarian crisis, and we have to fix a broken system —&#8221;

&#8220;I believe that we are in the midst of a humanitarian crisis and there needs to be federal investment to support those migrant families,&#8221; Pressley said, adding that the crisis is a consequence of &#8220;longstanding broken policies.&#8221;
&#8220;I don&#8217;t disagree with this being a humanitarian crisis at all, but just to get some clarity on this &#8230; do you think that the border is secure? Is that what you said?&#8221; Tapper asked again.
&#8220;Yes, the border is secure,&#8221; Pressley said, adding that the border situation is one reason Congress should avoid the impending government <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/live-blog/government-shutdown-live-updates-rcna117746" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shutdown</a>.
&#8220;But if you have millions of undocumented migrants coming into the country, how is the border secure?&#8221; Tapper pressed.

&#8220;Jake, this is not a new crisis,&#8221; Presley said, adding that the situation requires &#8220;more political will and commitment.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m not disagreeing with anything you&#8217;re saying except for the idea that the border is secure. I mean if you have people crossing the border, it&#8217;s just by definition not secure,&#8221; Tapper said.
He added that some critics argue the porous border encourages migrants to put themselves at the mercy of smugglers who prey on them.
&#8220;It just seems like such a refusal to acknowledge reality, to say that the border is secure when we all know millions of people are crossing the border illegally every year,&#8221; Tapper said.
&#8220;Jake, and that is a consequence of a number of things,&#8221; Pressley said, mentioning &#8220;climate refugees,&#8221; as well as people fleeing violence and corruption.
&#8220;Okay, it sounds like in there, you acknowledge that there are millions of people crossing the border illegally, which would mean that the border is not secure,&#8221; Tapper said, adding &#8220;would you grant me the point that the border is not secure?&#8221;
&#8220;Jake, that is a conversation for another day,&#8221; Pressley responded.
The migrant crisis at the border has been ramping up in recent weeks.
In August, there were nearly 233,000 migrant encounters at the southern border, the highest August on record, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/migrant-numbers-break-another-record-under-biden-southern-border-hit-new-surge" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. That number marks a jump from under 184,000 encounters in July.
Last month’s numbers are also a significant rise from August a year ago, when there were only 204,000 migrant encounters. September’s numbers are already tens of thousands of encounters <a href="https://apnews.com/article/immigration-texas-california-border-asylum-seekers-314698bfb5644be8f8f6085ebe9b9b98" target="_blank" rel="noopener">higher</a> than last year as well.
Meanwhile, several major cities, particularly New York and Chicago, have been struggling with a migrant crisis as tens of thousands of newcomers show up on their doorstep.
New York City is struggling to metabolize <a href="https://www.fox5ny.com/news/house-democrats-migrant-crisis-tour-interrupted-by-protesters-outside-roosevelt-hotel#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">more than</a> 113,000 migrants who have shown up in the city since last spring, nearly 60,000 of whom are still being housed on the city’s dime. The city has already <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-york-city-migrant-crisis-approaches-breaking-point-with-disorderly-migrants-shelter-space" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spent</a> more than $1.2 billion on the migrants.
Chicago has <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/08/us/politics/gop-migrants-blue-cities.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">seen</a> an influx of about 13,500 migrants recently and has already spent at least $250 million on the issue.

“I voted no because again it’s another sham effort here. It’s really clear that this is just a committee that would further embolden anti-Asian rhetoric and hate and put lives at risk,” Pressley <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2023/01/12/ayanna-pressley-select-committee-china-ccp-anti-asian-rhetoric-hate/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> CNN on Thursday. “We have enough infrastructure and governance to tackle those issues that we don’t need this select committee and that is why I voted no, because I am afraid that it will embolden anti-Asian rhetoric and hate.”
“So do you think the 146 Democrats who voted ‘yes’ on it are wrong in their votes?” CNN anchor Kaitlin Collins asked. 
“We just see it differently,” Pressley answered. 
On Tuesday, the House came together to <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/us/new-us-house-creates-committee-focused-competing-with-china-2023-01-10/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">establish</a> the select committee centering on China in a 365 to 65 vote. The move creates the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party.
“Here’s the good news: There is bipartisan consensus that the era of trusting communist China is over,” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2023/01/10/house-china-select-committee-00077312" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Tuesday on the floor of the House.
&#8220;I’ve heard my colleagues on both sides say that the threat posed by Communist China is serious. I fully agree,” McCarthy noted. “This is an issue that transcends political parties. And creating the select committee on China is our best avenue for addressing it.” 
“We want the very best ideas, and it doesn’t matter where they come from. At the end of the day, we won’t need a minority and majority report. We’ll just need one philosophy, with one principle, and America will be stronger for the future to come,” he <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/3807571-house-easily-passes-resolution-to-create-bipartisan-china-select-committee/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
&#8220;You have my word and my commitment. This is not a partisan committee. This will be a bipartisan committee,&#8221; McCarthy noted. 
“House Democrats have been clear that we are willing to extend the hand of bipartisan partnership on issues where we can work together for the American people, and will also stand up against extremism where necessary,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said in a statement after the vote. 
“As it relates to the new Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, House Democrats will work in a serious, sober and strategic manner to evaluate our relationship with the Chinese government and to address the rise of authoritarianism globally,” he added.

Sen.-elect John Fetterman (D-PA), who often wears a hoodie and occasionally dons a suit, has been included in a list of America&#8217;s &#8220;most stylish&#8221; <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/11/style/most-stylish-people.html">compiled</a> by The New York Times.
Really.
The entry for Fetterman, which included a picture of him wearing a baggy hoodie, knee-length shorts, and shoes with no socks, says simply: &#8220;The senator-elect from Pennsylvania is going to bring Carhartt to the Capitol.&#8221;
Yes, we had to look up what that meant. Turns out Carhartt, Inc. is an American clothing company founded in 1889 that makes heavy-duty work clothes like jackets, overalls, vests, jeans, and hunting apparel.
The Times explained its list, saying, &#8220;Love them or hate them, all have at least one thing in common. At some point over the past 12 months, they made us talk: about how we dress, how we live and how we choose to express ourselves. We welcome dissent. But we are, without a doubt, correct.&#8221;
The list of 93 people — and fictional characters, along with the James Webb deep-space telescope — includes all the typical entries, from Rihanna to Harry Styles to Kourtney Kardashian to Beyoncé.
Not surprisingly, there was some pushback on Fetterman&#8217;s inclusion on the list.
“How does @nytimes justify putting John Fetterman on the same list as the late Queen Elizabeth?” Sheridan Nolen, a staffer for Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, <a href="https://twitter.com/sheridannolen/status/1602320936107114502?s=20&amp;t=3CdiWrOeairTiL-j2091fQ">wrote</a> on Twitter.
“Total liberal bias, @nytimes⁩!” Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) <a href="https://twitter.com/timburchett/status/1602330893955338242?s=20&amp;t=3CdiWrOeairTiL-j2091fQ">wrote</a> on Twitter tongue in cheek. “I not only have the best hair in Congress, but I brought [Carhartt⁩] to Capitol Hill four years ago.”
“What is ⁦@nytimes smoking?” <a href="https://twitter.com/nachamasol/status/1602352997006204928?s=20&amp;t=lEVn7PXakto4yk_FBDgG6w">asked</a> Nachama Soloveichik, a D.C. political consultant.
Author John Hawkins got in a good <a href="https://twitter.com/johnhawkinsrwn/status/1602370449823993873?s=20&amp;t=3CdiWrOeairTiL-j2091fQ">zinger</a>. “No one can possibly believe Fetterman is actually stylish. He dresses like someone who hangs out around a vape shop or convenience store all day.&#8221;
And social media influencer Ian Miles Cheong was able to <a href="https://twitter.com/stillgray/status/1602352382830030849?s=20&amp;t=YCEZy_9YPU8bFuq7bQu3lQ">work in</a> the Word of the Year, as deemed by Oxford. “2022 is the year of the Goblin Mode. Dress up like a slob and make the NYT’s list of most stylish people,” he wrote.
There were a couple of other political people on the list, including &#8220;Squad&#8221; member Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA).
&#8220;The Massachusetts congresswoman, who has alopecia and has worn her bare scalp with aplomb, this year co-sponsored the CROWN Act (Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair), legislation that seeks to reframe the politics around everyone’s &#8216;crowning glory,'&#8221; the paper wrote.
Yes, this is what U.S. lawmakers spend their time doing as Americans struggle with sky-high inflation and soaring crime. So cute!
The list also included Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, nominated to the bench by President Joe Biden. &#8220;The newest Supreme Court justice has brought statement necklaces to the Marble Palace,&#8221; whatever that means.
Democrats and liberals (duh) dominated the list, which also included New York Mayor Eric Adams, who the paper called the &#8220;Party Mayor&#8221; and said he was picked for his “impeccably tailored suits.&#8221;
Yup, that&#8217;s the most important thing. That&#8217;ll fix New York City.

Fox News political analyst Gianno Caldwell pressed Republicans and Democrats in Washington, D.C., this week on the matter of rising crime rates across the country.
Caldwell received responses from various Republicans about solutions to the problems, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY).
However, when he approached Democrats on the crime situation, many of them ran.
During his interviews, Caldwell approached Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) who refused to talk because he claimed that he was &#8220;in a rush right now.&#8221;
&#8220;We just want to talk about the crisis that is impacting our country with crime across the nation,&#8221; Caldwell said as Nadler tried to avoid being on camera while waiting for the elevator.
&#8220;I can&#8217;t do it now,&#8221; Nadler claimed.
&#8220;Congressman Nadler, can we set up a meeting with your office and have a discussion?&#8221; Caldwell asked.
&#8220;Uh,&#8221; Nadler responded. &#8220;Maybe. I&#8217;m going to be pretty busy.&#8221;

Caldwell also approached Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY).
&#8220;Senator, any reaction to the crime crisis in America?&#8221; Caldwell asked. &#8220;Crime is up, sir. There&#8217;s a crisis. You have any reaction? You&#8217;re a leader, I would think that you would have a reaction to what&#8217;s going on in the country.&#8221;
&#8220;Thank you,&#8221; Schumer responded.

Caldwell confronted Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) on the matter.
&#8220;Any reaction to the rise in violent crime across the country which is impacting students?&#8221; Caldwell asked the congresswoman at an event where she talked about the far-Left push to cancel student debt.
&#8220;I mean our work on student cancellation is a direct response to what I would consider to be policy violence,&#8221; she claimed.
A short time later, Caldwell caught up with Pressley while she walking and he pressed her on the answer that she gave.
&#8220;You mentioned policy violence, I just wanted to follow up on that,&#8221; he said.
A staffer for Pressley interjected, saying, &#8220;She got your question.&#8221;
When Caldwell continued to press on whether Pressley still believed in defending the police, her staff just said that he should email them about the subject.

Finally, Caldwell pressed Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) over her repeated calls to defund law enforcement.
&#8220;Any reaction to rising crime in America?&#8221; Caldwell asked.
Omar did not responded.
&#8220;You supported the defund the police movement that led to a rise in crime,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;Do you have any reaction? Any reaction? No reaction? It impacts your citizens.&#8221;
Omar did not say a single word as she drove off in a tiny car.

Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin grilled several <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/democratic-party" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Democrats</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Biden officials</a> on camera for a Fox News segment that aired Monday afternoon.
Many of the Democrats that Melugin questioned either ignored him altogether or refused to answer his questions.
The segment comes as the Biden administration’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ex-clinton-adviser-hillary-clinton-setting-up-2024-presidential-run-after-latest-shot-at-biden">policies</a> on the southern border have led to national security and humanitarian catastrophe with more than 2.3 million illegal border crossings over the last 11 months, an all-time record, and more than 4 million total since Biden was inaugurated.
&#8220;250,000 unaccompanied migrant children arrived at the border since President Biden&#8217;s took office. Some of them trafficked, some of them drowning in the river. Any issue with that?&#8221; Melugin asked Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA).
Pressley completely ignored Melugin.
&#8220;Last question, ma&#8217;am. Is the border secure?&#8221; Melugin pressed. &#8220;Do you agree with the administration that the border is secure?&#8221;
Pressley refused to answer.
Melugin then asked Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, &#8220;Chairman, one question, in your opinion, is the border secure?&#8221;
&#8220;I have to go give a speech,&#8221; Thompson responded. &#8220;Did you hear me?&#8221;
&#8220;I heard you,&#8221; Melugin said. &#8220;It&#8217;s a quick question, is the border secure?&#8221;
Thompson refused to answer the question.
Melugin then pressed President Joe Biden&#8217;s (D) secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, about his thoughts.
&#8220;I&#8217;m Bill Melugin with Fox News. Do you have a few moments to talk about the border real quick?&#8221; Melugin asked.
&#8220;I&#8217;m sorry, I don&#8217;t,&#8221; Mayorkas snapped back.
Melugin showed an email that Fox News sent to Homeland Security last week requesting an interview because Melugin and his team were going to be in town. Melugin received no response from the Biden administration.
&#8220;A few moments of your time is all we&#8217;re asking for and we&#8217;ll let you go,&#8221; Melugin said. &#8220;We reached out to your office, asked to talk to you last week. They blew us off.&#8221;
&#8220;I appreciate it,&#8221; Mayorkas chided.
&#8220;Is 900,000 got-a-ways a secure border?&#8221; Melugin asked.
&#8220;Have a good day,&#8221; Mayorkas said. &#8220;Thank you.&#8221;
Melugin said that the only Democrats who would talk about the border were Democrats from the state of Texas, the state that has been hit the hardest by the crisis.
&#8220;This is unsustainable,&#8221; Rep. Veronica Escobar said. &#8220;It has been unsustainable for years.&#8221;
&#8220;This is our administration. I&#8217;m a Democrat. And you know, they need to understand they own it now,&#8221; Rep. Henry Cuellar told Melugin. &#8220;They own it now. And they have to take the steps to correct this otherwise, you know, when are we going to see an end to this?&#8221;
