“American Idol” executives have reportedly been in “crisis talks” about <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/carrie-underwood-performs-america-the-beautiful-a-cappella-when-music-fails-at-trump-inauguration">Carrie Underwood</a>’s debut as a judge following her performance at President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
ABC bosses have reportedly said, following the 41-year-old country singer&#8217;s performance, there have been calls for people to boycott the upcoming season in which she is supposed to be a judge, <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-14314477/carrie-underwood-american-idol-crisis-donald-trump-inauguration.html">Daily Mail</a> reported. On Monday, Underwood performed a stunning a cappella version of “America the Beautiful” inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda before Trump was sworn-in as the 47th President of the United States.
An insider told the outlet that there are concerns contestants might be “uncomfortable” being part of the show and fear her doing so could affect ratings.

“Idol contestants come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds, and so do the people who work on the show,” a source said. “There are concerns that her apparent political stance might make some contestants feel uncomfortable.”

“[One judge] Lionel Richie, who is very liberal, may not see eye to eye with Carrie&#8217;s views which could create some tension,”  the source continued. “He has never and will never support Trump. The general opinion is that Carrie should have thought about the show&#8217;s culture and network values before jumping into such a major role while under contract.”
The “Jesus, Take The Wheel” hitmaker released a statement about performing at the inauguration after the Trump-Vance <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/inauguration">Inaugural Committee</a> announced she would be one of many singers participating in the inauguration events.
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood said in her statement.
During the inauguration, things did not go as smoothly as planned for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/carrie-underwood">Underwood</a>, who ended up calling on politicians, dignitaries, and guests to join her in singing “America the Beautiful” when the instrumental music failed to play, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/carrie-underwood-performs-america-the-beautiful-a-cappella-when-music-fails-at-trump-inauguration">reported</a>.
As she stood there holding the mic, the music began, stuttered, and then stopped playing. The singer waited a few moments as others in the room, including Trump, looked around during the awkward silence, wondering if the moment would happen. But when it became clear there was some kind of technical difficulty, Underwood proved to be every bit the superstar and called on everyone in the room to join her.
“You know the words, help me out here,” the <a href="https://x.com/CollinRugg/status/1881398740441038997">singer said</a> as she began performing an incredible rendition of the song.
Underwood’s own singing career became a reality after she appeared on the fourth season of “American Idol” and won the contest in 2005. The new season of &#8220;American Idol&#8221; <a href="https://x.com/carrieunderwood/status/1875605214570647596" target="_blank" rel="noopener">kicks off</a> March 9.

Christian singer and former “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/american-idol">American Idol</a>” contestant Mandisa has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/death">died</a> at the age of 47.
Mandisa Lynn Hundley, a native of Citrus Heights, California, was discovered deceased in her home in the Nashville metro area. An investigation into the incident is currently underway, <a href="https://www.tennessean.com/story/entertainment/music/2024/04/19/american-idol-alum-christian-singer-mandisa-has-died-in-nashville/73382383007/">per</a> The Tennessean. 
&#8220;At this time, we do not know the cause of death or any further details,&#8221; a statement from the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/music">singer</a>’s rep said. &#8220;We ask for your prayers for her family and close-knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time.&#8221;
A spokesperson from the Franklin Police Department did not share any details about Mandisa’s death other than confirming that the investigation was currently active.
Hundley is best known for her appearance on the reality singing competition show &#8220;American Idol&#8221; after auditioning in Chicago in 2005, the outlet noted. She was among the top nine contestants on that season of “Idol.”
She released her first album, &#8220;True Beauty,&#8221; in July 2007. Her single “Only the World” debuted on the Top Christian Album charts, which was a first for a female artist. The song also debuted at number 43 on the Billboard 200.
Her other albums included “It’s Christmas” (2008), “Freedom” (2009), “What if We Were Real” (2011), “Overcomer” (2013), “Out of the Dark” (2017), and a greatest hits album released in 2020. 
In 2014, Hundley took home the Grammy for best contemporary Christian Music Album for &#8220;Overcomer.&#8221; She is one of only five former “ Idol” contestants to win a Grammy, joining the ranks of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, and Tori Kelly, per <a href="https://variety.com/2024/music/obituaries-people-news/mandisa-dead-american-idol-christian-singer-1235976471/">Variety</a>.

“Mandisa loved Jesus, and she used her unusually extensive platform to talk about Him at every turn,” he wrote. “Her kindness was epic, her smile electric, her voice massive, but it was no match for the size of her heart. Mandisa struggled, and she was vulnerable enough to share that with us, which helped us talk about our own struggles. Mandisa’s struggles are over, she is with the God she sang about now. While we are saddened, Mandisa is home. We’re praying for Mandisa’s family and friends and ask you to join us.”

Emmy Russell, the granddaughter of the late Country Music Hall of Famer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/country-singer">Loretta Lynn</a>, got emotional while performing on the reality singing competition show “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/american-idol">American Idol</a>” on Monday night.
The 25-year-old singer took the stage barefoot to <a href="https://youtu.be/FR8goWJ4TMo">perform</a> an original song called “Skinny.” 
“I just feel like I’m who God made me to be when I sing that song,” she told host Ryan Seacrest.
Russell was named as one of the current season&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">top 20</a> during Sunday night’s episode, when she impressed the panel of judges by singing the original song, “Want You.”

“Miss Emmy, that was one of my favorite original songs that you’ve sang,” Katy Perry <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/tv/2024/04/15/american-idol-loretta-lynn-granddaughter-emmy-russell-wows-judges/73326348007/">said</a> of the performance. “I know that you were just a little nervous. I just want more breath, more long notes. Girl, like go swimming, learn how to hold your breath more. We need longer notes from Emmy, and I know that you have them. We need power. C’mon, let’s go. The time is now!”
“That was so you,” country artist Luke Bryan told Russell. “I loved it because it was so real, and I think you could really feel the emotion in that. That is what your artistry is about and don’t lose that. But listen, that thing that you did with that song really is your signature. It was very emotional and probably my favorite performance you’ve done.”
Lionel Richie echoed the other judges, telling her the song was a &#8220;hit&#8221; in the making.

Russell is also the great-niece of country star Crystal Gayle. The singer began her career in Nashville with the release of music in 2023 and a debut at the Grand Ole Opry the same year. She was nominated for Performance of the Year at the 2023 CMT Music Awards after taking the stage at her grandmother&#8217;s CMT broadcast memorial.
During a recent appearance on the &#8220;Biscuits &amp; Jam&#8221; podcast, she said, &#8220;Memaw [Lynn] passed down her guitar to me when I was 15 at the Ryman Auditorium. She said, ‘You’re the one that can do it.&#8217; She always thought I had this spark about me, ever since I was a little kid. She felt she needed to give me the guitar as the torch in a way.&#8221;

Singer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/katy-perry">Katy Perry</a> shocked the audience of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Monday night when she revealed that this will be her last season serving as a judge on “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/american-idol">American Idol</a>.”
The late-night host set up the announcement by asking Perry how much longer she planned to host the popular reality competition singing <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">show</a>. 
“Well, you know, this fall, this September, I’m going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio. It’s really exciting,” the 39-year-old singer replied, per <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/02/13/entertainment/katy-perry-quits-american-idol-after-7-seasons-i-need-to-feel-that-pulse-of-my-own-beat/">The New York Post</a>. “It’s a big deal for people all over the world, especially my Brazilian fans.”
“So I think this will probably be my last season for ‘Idol,’” she added, which prompted a gasp from the audience. 
Perry continued, “I love &#8216;Idol&#8217; so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America. But I need to feel that pulse of my own beat.” 
The “Dark Horse” singer has been one of the panelist judges on “Idol” since the show was revived in 2018. She judges alongside Lionel Richie and country artist Luke Bryan.
When Kimmel asked how her co-stars reacted to the news, Perry indicated they didn’t know yet. “Well, they’ll find out tonight,” she joked.
The top-selling musical artist confirmed the announcement later with an Instagram <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C3RjSxjLNyt/?img_index=3">post</a>.

Liebe later commented on the exchange, saying she found it “embarrassing” and “hurtful” to have had that happen on television.

Pop star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/katy-perry" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Katy Perry</a> has received some negative attention (not enough) for her disturbing battle with elderly nuns over a property, a former convent, in Los Angeles. But Perry’s suspect actions don’t come close to ending there.
Here’s a list of five jarring moves from the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/katy-perry-sparks-robot-comparisons-after-video-surfaces-of-bizarre-eye-glitch" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sometimes-malfunctioning</a> 39-year-old “Teenage Dream” singer:

Perry in 2015 tried to <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lifestyle/real-estate/inside-katy-perry-convent-sparked-a-real-estate-war-1247527/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">buy a property</a> in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles that was previously bought and used as a convent and public place of prayer by some 50 nuns known as the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles agreed to sell the property to the singer without the remaining living nuns’ consent. The nuns, in fact, felt very strongly that they did not want Perry to acquire the property after looking her up online, specifically referencing a video where the entertainer quips about selling her soul to the devil for fame. 
&#8220;In selling to Katy Perry, we feel we are being forced to violate our canonical vows to the Catholic Church,” Sister Catherine Rose Holzman <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/20/us/nuns-intensify-fight-over-sale-of-convent-to-katy-perry.html#:~:text=%E2%80%9CIn%20selling%20to%20Katy%20Perry,%2415%20million%2C%20were%20being%20considered." target="_blank" rel="noopener">said in 2015</a>. Sister Rita Callanan also commented publicly, &#8220;I thought, is that a way to make money?&#8221;

Perry attempted to win over the nuns through a personal meeting where she sang gospel music and showed the sisters a tattoo on her wrist that says “Jesus.” They were not won over, and quickly moved to sell to another person, Dana Hollister, whom they did feel comfortable buying the property, in part because Hollister would turn the convent into a hotel, which the public could still have access to. 
In response, the archdiocese sued the two nuns, arguing that Perry deserves the property. And Perry sued Hollister for interfering with her purchase. A judge decided against the sisters and Hollister, who was being targeted for even further punitive damages from the ordeal. 
The nuns begged Perry to stop going after them and Hollister, but Perry did not relent.
Hollister, shortly after, had to declare bankruptcy, and the two nuns accompanied her in court to show their support. Outside the courtroom, Sister Rose pleaded, &#8220;Katy Perry, please stop. It&#8217;s not doing anyone any good except hurting a lot of people.&#8221; Hours later, the sister collapsed and died inside the courtroom. Sister Callanan said publicly that Perry “has blood on her hands.” 
The court outcome said Perry could have the property after Vatican approval. It’s still unclear if she’s received such approval.

<h2>‘I Was Uncomfortable Immediately’ </h2>
In 2018, Perry kissed a young man without his consent on live television – an action that would have set the media on fire had the genders in this situation been reversed. Perry was acting as a judge on “American Idol” when a 19-year-old contestant named Benjamin Glaze was talking about his job as a cashier. Fellow judge Luke Bryan jokingly asked Glaze if he had ever “kissed a girl and liked it” – a reference to one of Perry’s hit songs. Perry then had Glaze kiss her on the cheek. She asked him for another peck, but tricked him by turning her head so the boy was locking lips with the pop singer. 
“Would I have done it if she (Perry) said, ‘Would you kiss me?’ No, I would have said no,” Glaze admitted to The New York Times in the aftermath of the incident. “I know a lot of guys would be like, ‘Heck yeah!’ But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special.” 
Glaze was so shaken up by the experience he spoke to his friends about it, and they reassured him that it was technically not his first kiss, since it wasn&#8217;t romantic. “It was lip contact versus a romantic situation with someone you care about,” Glaze said. “That’s what a real first kiss is.”

<h2>Mom-Shaming Bully</h2>
Earlier this year, Perry made waves for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mom-shaming-is-super-lame-young-mother-mocked-by-katy-perry-fires-back" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bullying and mom-shaming</a> “American Idol” contestant Sara Beth Liebe. Before her audition, Liebe <a href="https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/leylamohammed/katy-perry-mom-shaming-american-idol-contestant-sara-beth?d_id=5620666&amp;ref=bftwbuzzfeed&amp;utm_source=dynamic&amp;utm_campaign=bftwbuzzfeed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">revealed</a> that she had borne three children by the time she was 25-years-old. That prompted Perry to pretend she was going to faint. Liebe commented, “If Katy lays on the table, I think I’m going to pass out,” to which Perry replied, “Honey, you been laying on the table too much.” 
The awkward moment clearly made Liebe uncomfortable, but for good measure, Perry closed by telling the young mother, “Look, if it’s not your dream, you’re not gonna go far.” The comment was taken by some as a scolding from Perry because Liebe prioritized motherhood at a young age.
As for Liebe, she addressed Perry’s remarks online: “I don’t really have too much to say on my feelings about it because I feel like it’s probably pretty self-explanatory,” she said. “I mean, it was embarrassing to have that on TV and it was hurtful and you know, that’s that. But I did want to take this opportunity to just say that I think that women supporting and uplifting other women is so cool and I think that mom-shaming is super lame and I think that it’s hard enough to be a mom and it’s hard enough to be a woman. And I also wanted to take this opportunity to say that I see all of the young moms and just moms in general who have commented on all of the videos and posts and everything and I just wanted to say that I see you and I hear you and I am grateful for you and you’re worthy and keep loving your babies.”
“Nobody deserves to feel crappy about that,” she declared. “Like I mean, bottom line, I don’t think there’s anything really more to it. And I think if you’re a good mama and you love your babies that’s all that really matters and other comments just don’t feel necessary and that’s all I have to say on the matter.”

<h2>Target: Elderly Vet With A Brain Disease </h2>
Perry’s real estate woes did not stop at her years-long battle with aging nuns. The pop singer is now entangled in more drama, this time with an elderly veteran named Carl Westcott, the founder of 1-800-Flowers, who says he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/no-california-dreamin-katy-perry-has-more-housing-drama-looming" target="_blank" rel="noopener">never meant to sell</a> Perry and her husband, actor Orlando Bloom, his $15 million Santa Barbara estate.
Westcott, an 83-year-old battling Huntington’s disease, reportedly said he signed sale documents in July 2020 when he was under the influence of painkillers after having major back surgery, The Daily Wire’s Amanda Harding recently reported. Westcott tried to back out of the sale days later when he said the influence of the painkillers wore off, but Perry and Bloom refused his request and threatened to sue if he did not go through with the sale. 
A representative for Perry and Bloom sent a letter following Westcott’s request to rescind the documents, saying he was legally obligated to complete the sale of the home. Westcott claims he never listed the home for sale and never asked a real estate professional to help sell it. He said he purchased the 9,285 square-foot, eight-bedroom, 11-bathroom home in May 2020, just two months before selling it to Perry and Bloom. Westcott further stated he had purchased with the intention of staying there “for the rest of his life.”
The plaintiff had back surgery in July 2020 and three days later signed the sale paperwork. Westcott was allegedly presented with a written offer from Perry and Bloom for more money than he paid for the property in May. “Upon discharge from the hospital, Mr. Westcott was prescribed at least two opiates in pill form that he was to continue taking for pain, which he took as prescribed several times each day,” the complaint states. “’The combination of his age, frailty from his back condition and recent surgery, and the opiates he was taking several times a day rendered Mr. Westcott of unsound mind.” The veteran’s lawyers argue he was “unable to understand the nature and probable consequences of his actions” due to being on pain medication. They say their client is “in the final years of his life and cannot sell his home.”
Westcott will not attend the trial because he is mentally incapacitated and bedridden, leaving his family to fight the celebrity couple over who should be the rightful owners of the estate. A nonjury trial is scheduled for August 21, 2023, per <a href="https://www.insider.com/katy-perry-nuns-los-angeles-convent-sale-feud-timeline-2019-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">USA Today</a>. 
The current status of the home’s occupants, if any, remains unclear.

More than a decade ago, Katy Perry talked to Australian model and actress Ruby Rose about her transformation from gospel music to secular pop music. Perry noted that she grew up in a Christian church and wanted to dominate the Christian music industry, but the label she was working with went bust. That’s apparently when she made her switch over to secular music. “I swear, I wanted to be the Amy Grant of Music, but it didn&#8217;t work out, and, so, I sold my soul to the devil,” Perry says during the interview. The joke, or the metaphor for her transformation, has been criticized online, particularly by Christians.
Perry, of course, is not the only Hollywood celebrity to engage in suspect actions, but she has routinely evaded a “cancellation.” Others, who don’t hold Perry’s views, would surely not have the same fate.

The comments came after the audience loudly booed the &#8220;Fireworks&#8221; singer after she criticized contestant Nutsa Buzaladze&#8217;s attire during the show.
It came after Buzaladze took to the stage and gave a widely praised performance of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals&#8217; &#8220;Paris (Ooh La La).&#8221; She wore a silver mini dress and sparkling high-heeled boots as she danced and rocked the stage.

When it came to Perry&#8217;s turn to comment, she said, &#8220;Nutsa, every time you take the stage, it&#8217;s like you glitter bomb the stage. Listen, I think that one thing I personally would like to see from you is not one piece of glitter the next time. I know that&#8217;s gonna be hard.&#8221;
In response, the audience started booing.
During another episode, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/katy-perry-accused-of-bullying-american-idol-contestant">Perry</a> was accused of &#8220;mom-shaming&#8221; contestant Sara Beth Liebe, a mother of three. Some fans said Perry was rude to Liebe after the contestant revealed her singing experience was basically the &#8220;church choir.&#8221;
&#8220;Is this your dream?&#8221; Perry asked Liebe, who appeared rattled and simply replied, &#8220;Um.&#8221;
&#8220;If it&#8217;s not your dream, you might need to leave because there&#8217;s a lot of dreams behind you,&#8221; Perry added.

The 41-year-old singer and host of &#8220;The Kelly Clarkson Show&#8221; posted a message on her <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CsK333BuSAZ/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Instagram</a> account over the weekend that addressed <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-kelly-clarkson-show-accused-of-being-toxic-work-environment-by-unnamed-staffers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accusations</a> from 11 employees in a <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-features/the-kelly-clarkson-show-toxic-behind-scenes-investigation-nbc-daytime-tv-hr-workplace-environment-1234732325/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rolling Stone</a> article. The anonymous sources said they were victims of bullying and verbal abuse from the show&#8217;s producers, according to the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/kelly-clarkson-addresses-allegations-toxic-work-environment-talk-show-1235487270/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hollywood Reporter</a>.
&#8220;In my 20 years in the entertainment industry, I&#8217;ve always led with my heart and what I believed to be right,&#8221; Clarkson wrote. &#8220;I love my team at The Kelly Clarkson Show, and to find out that anyone is feeling unheard and or disrespected on this show is unacceptable.&#8221;
&#8220;I have always been, and will continue to be, committed to creating and maintaining a safe and healthy environment at The Kelly Clarkson Show,&#8221; she added, noting that the production was preparing to <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/kelly-clarksons-talk-show-relocating-230010538.html#:~:text=The%20Kelly%20Clarkson%20Show%20will,Apple%20for%20its%20next%20season." target="_blank" rel="noopener">move</a> to the East Coast and out of Los Angeles.
&#8220;Part of that build will include leadership training for all of the senior staff, including myself,&#8221; Clarkson&#8217;s statement continued. &#8220;There is always room to grow and ensure we are all being/becoming the best version of ourselves in any business. Especially when it comes to leadership, to ensure that any notion of toxicity is eradicated.&#8221;
The &#8220;American Idol&#8221; winner&#8217;s comments come after allegations that producers overworked and underpaid staffers who found the working environment &#8220;traumatizing to their mental health.&#8221;
One said, &#8220;I remember going up on the roof of the stage to cry, being like, &#8216;Oh, my gosh, what am I doing? Why am I putting myself through this?'&#8221;
Another added, &#8220;I think Alex Duda&#8217;s [the talk show&#8217;s executive producer] a monster. I have a friend who&#8217;s an executive producer who warned me about taking this job, because apparently she has done this on every show she&#8217;s worked on.&#8221;
The employees also made it clear that none of the &#8220;toxicity&#8221; claims were directed at Clarkson, who they called &#8220;fantastic&#8221; and said that they &#8220;would be shocked if she knew&#8221; what was going on behind the scenes.

I&#8217;d be floored if she knew the staff wasn&#8217;t getting paid for two weeks of Christmas hiatus. The Kelly that I interacted with and that everyone knows would probably be pretty aghast to learn that.&#8221;

The 46-year-old country singer recently told Megan Danielle, a waitress from Douglasville, Georgia, that he was impressed with her commitment.
It happened on Monday&#8217;s show after Danielle sang, &#8220;Go Rest High on That Mountain&#8221; in honor of her grandfather, who passed away last year. She sang the same song at his funeral.
&#8220;I can&#8217;t imagine what you were feeling during that performance,&#8221; host Ryan Seacrest told the contestant. &#8220;You definitely honored him.&#8221;

Bryan explained that he was the one who picked the song for the young contestant and said it&#8217;s because she&#8217;s always willing to share her faith.
&#8220;What I love about you — I mean, we&#8217;re way beyond loving your voice — is you&#8217;re, you know, you&#8217;re never scared to tell everybody your faith,&#8221; Bryan said. &#8220;And when I thought about that song, I just felt in my heart that I couldn&#8217;t pick a better one than that for you.&#8221;
As Bryan explained his choice, Danielle became emotional and started tearing up, trying not to break down crying on the show. Seacrest then handed the contestant a handkerchief.

In clips of Monday&#8217;s show, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/katy-perry" target="_blank" rel="noopener">38-year-old</a> pop singer seemed less impressed with contestant Nutsa Buzaladze&#8217;s attire during the reality singing contest that&#8217;s now been narrowed down to 26 contestants.
It came after Buzaladze took to the stage and gave a widely praised performance of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals&#8217; &#8220;Paris (Ooh La La).&#8221; She was dressed in a silver mini dress and high-heeled sparkling boots as she danced and rocked the stage.
When it came to Perry&#8217;s turn to comment on the performance, she said, &#8220;Nutsa, every time you take the stage, it&#8217;s like you glitter bomb the stage.&#8221;
&#8220;Listen, I think that one thing I personally would like to see from you is not one piece of glitter the next time,&#8221; she added. &#8220;I know that&#8217;s gonna be hard.&#8221;

It was after that last comment that the booing from the crowd started and grew louder before Perry&#8217;s fellow celebrity judge Luke Bryan noted that she had finally been booed.
&#8220;Yes! Katy got booed!&#8221; Bryan said. Fellow judge Lionel Richie added, &#8220;Whoa, hostility!&#8221; <a href="https://ew.com/tv/katy-perry-booed-american-idol-glitter/https://ew.com/tv/katy-perry-booed-american-idol-glitter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Entertainment Weekly</a> noted.
However, the &#8220;Firework&#8221; star didn&#8217;t seem fazed by the crowd&#8217;s reaction and said, &#8220;OK, first time in six seasons.&#8221;

&#8220;Whoo-hoo!&#8221; she added. &#8220;But what I&#8217;m saying is that I&#8217;d like you to flip the script. I think we want to be, like, pulled in by our hearts, too. I&#8217;d love to see that, and I think America might, too.&#8221;
Perry previously faced criticism from viewers who accused her of being a bully for &#8220;mom-shaming&#8221; contestant Sara Beth Liebe, a mother of three.
Some fans of the show said Perry was rude to Liebe after the mom revealed her singing expertise was basically the &#8220;church choir.&#8221;
&#8220;Is this your dream?&#8221; Perry asked the contestant, who appeared rattled and simply replied, &#8220;Um.&#8221;
&#8220;If it&#8217;s not your dream, you might need to leave because there&#8217;s a lot of dreams behind you,&#8221; the &#8220;Teenage Dream&#8221; hitmaker added.
Liebe admitted she was &#8220;still processing&#8221; being away from her kids before she finally started with her first song. However, Perry seemed unimpressed and prodded her, &#8220;Show us what your voice can do. Take it to the limit. No looking back. Sing it like it&#8217;s your new dream &#8230;.&#8221;

Katy Perry Gets Booed On ‘American Idol’ Over Her Criticism Of Another Contestant

The 25-year-old <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/motherhood">mom</a> of three who Katy Perry was accused of “bullying” on “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/american-idol">American Idol</a>” just abruptly quit the show during Sunday night’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">episode</a>.
“I didn’t really know what show business was and then I came here and I got a little taste of it and I’m like woooo,” Sarah Beth Liebe, who has been a mother and a wife since she was 18, <a href="https://parade.com/tv/american-idol-sara-beth-quit">told</a> her mentor Clay Aiken during the episode. “I don’t feel like I fit the mold, so I’m trying to figure this all out.”
“I don’t think I realized quite how hard it would be to be away from my kids. They’re all still very young. I feel I’m going to try my best because I’m here, so that’s what I should do. There’s a lot of guilt when you leave your kids to do something completely selfish. I’m just going to try to keep my head on straight,” the contestant said ahead of singing “Roxanne” by The Police.
After nailing her song, Liebe shocked the judges by announcing she was leaving “Idol.” 
“This opportunity is really rad, but this actually is going to be my last performance because my heart’s at home, so I’m going to get home to my babies. They kind of need me. Thank you,” she said.
The judges, including Perry, tried to talk her out of quitting.
“Sara Beth, I know that life is scary,” Perry said. “I know it is easier to walk away than to be rejected, but then I also know that you lose out on your fullest potential. I know you love your family, your kids, I know that as a mother, but remember, self-love is just as big as motherly love. Don’t leave the competition.”
Liebe told one of the producers backstage, “I know I’m not going to win the show anyway, so I might as well go home.”

She previously made headlines when Perry mocked her for “laying on the table too much,” referencing how many kids she had at a young age. Liebe later called the jokes “embarrassing” and “hurtful,” saying she believed “mom-shaming is super lame.”

The young mother who was mocked by Katy Perry on American Idol, prompting outrage among fans and a viral video of the exchange, has issued a stinging reply in a <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@sarabethliebe/video/7208326246369873198">TikTok video</a>.
Sara Beth Liebe, 25, <a href="https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/leylamohammed/katy-perry-mom-shaming-american-idol-contestant-sara-beth?d_id=5620666&amp;ref=bftwbuzzfeed&amp;utm_source=dynamic&amp;utm_campaign=bftwbuzzfeed">revealed</a> on the show that she had borne three children by the time she was 25. That prompted Perry to pretend she was going to faint. Liebe commented, “If Katy lays on the table, I think I&#8217;m going to pass out,” to which Perry replied, “Honey, you been laying on the table too much.”

“Recently I auditioned on American Idol, actually you may or may not have seen, and while I was on the show there was a joke that was made that’s gotten some attention and I’ve gotten a lot of people reaching out to me asking how I’m feeling,” Liebe began. “So, I figured this was probably the easiest way to address it.”
“I got scouted to go and audition on American Idol and sing in front of Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Katy Perry, and at the start of my audition, before I sang, I mentioned that I had three children and was a young mother and Katy Perry made a joke that wasn’t super kind and that’s what this is all, I guess, about,” she added.
“I don’t really have too much to say on my feelings about it because I feel like it’s probably pretty self-explanatory,” she continued. “I mean, it was embarrassing to have that on TV and it was hurtful and you know, that’s that. But I did want to take this opportunity to just say that I think that women supporting and uplifting other women is so cool and I think that mom-shaming is super lame and I think that it’s hard enough to be a mom and it’s hard enough to be a woman. And I also wanted to take this opportunity to say that I see all of the young moms and just moms in general who have commented on all of the videos and posts and everything and I just wanted to say that I see you and I hear you and I am grateful for you and you’re worthy and keep loving your babies.”
“Nobody deserves to feel crappy about that,” she declared. “Like I mean, bottom line, I don’t think there’s anything really more to it. And I think if you’re a good mama and you love your babies that that’s all that really matters and other comments just don’t feel necessary and that’s all I have to say on the matter.”
“So thanks for the love guys. I’m putting out music now, I guess, and you want to listen. Bye,” she concluded.
Perry also said to Liebe when she was finished singing, “I feel like a comic book strip character just came to life. &#8230; Look, if it&#8217;s not your dream, you&#8217;re not gonna go far.”
