A 23-year-old model who’s appeared in the likes of Maxim magazine finally came forward this month to express her support for President Donald Trump. Elizabeth Pipko, who worked full-time on the president’s 2016 campaign, said she was tired of hiding her support, even if it meant she was risking future modeling jobs.
“I decided to volunteer for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in the spring of 2016. I never leaned liberal or conservative, but there was something about Trump — the way he spoke and his honesty — that had me convinced he was our next president,” Pipko told the New York Post. “I worked in a call center in Trump Tower. Within eight weeks, I was hired as a national volunteer services coordinator for the data team and paid $4,000 a month.”
“It was clear from the start that, if I wanted to survive in modeling,” she said, “I couldn’t tell anyone about my new job.”
Feeling pressure from industry colleagues and her own manager, Pipko kept the secret under wraps until January of this year.
“But now that it’s been two years since the election, I don’t want to keep silent any longer. Even if that means saying goodbye to modeling forever,” she said.
But along with potentially sacrificing high-paying modeling work, Pipko says she’s now on the receiving end of constant insults, including being called a “Nazi.” As a religious Jew, the young model took such an attack especially hard.
“Since admitting my support for the President and my work for the 2016 Trump campaign, I have been the target of some extremely inappropriate comments and insults,” Pipko said in a statement to The Daily Wire. “The words that people are using to address me are words that should never be used to speak to anyone, but more importantly, words than should never be used to attack someone simply because of their political beliefs.”
“I am extremely proud to be an American and to live in a country where we are free to believe in anything that we choose, and the fact that people are now using people’s political affiliations as a base for their disgusting attacks is extremely worrisome for the future of our country,” Pipko continued.
“The fact that anyone would go out of their way to call me a Nazi, a word I take extremely seriously both as a Jew and as a person whose family was affected by the Holocaust, is extremely hurtful and a terrifying experience that nobody should have to experience in this country, especially for simply supporting their president,” she added.
Pipko called the comments “extremely cruel and hurtful.”
“I can only hope that people begin to respect their fellow Americans instead of insulting them like this for their varying political beliefs,” her statement concluded.
On a recent Fox & Friends appearance, Pipko reiterated that she does not regret her decision to be open about her support for President Trump, and encouraged other young people to think for themselves.
“Google it, read the facts, watch the videos; the president didn’t say everything you think he said,” Pipko told the Fox & Friends co-hosts. “If everyone did the research and didn’t listen to everyone around them, they’d be a lot more positive about the country.”
