Twitter CEO Elon Musk joined the chorus of critics who have ripped into the “Barbie” movie, reacting to the movie’s incessant carping about the “patriarchy.”

The movie has racked up enormous numbers at the box office, taking in $155 million domestically over its debut weekend. But its woke agenda has catalyzed harsh reaction from conservatives, and Musk wasn’t shy about slamming the film.

“It [sic] you take a shot every time Barbie says the word ‘patriarchy’ you will pass out before the movie ends,” Musk declared.

Musk has called the woke mind virus “arguably one of the biggest threats to modern civilization.” In 2021, he referenced it in relation to the satirical site The Onion, saying, “It’s just seems to have been in recent years affected by the woke mind virus. That just makes everything less funny. Woke mind virus is a world without humor.”

“Wokeness basically wants to make comedy illegal,” he continued. “At its heart, wokeness is divisive, exclusionary, and hateful.”

Musk’s comment about “Barbie” came in the wake of Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro issuing a 43-minute review of the film that engendered a heated reaction from those people who were fans of the movie. “All you need to know about #BarbieTheMovie is that it unironically uses the word ‘patriarchy’ more than ten times,” he noted.

In a column, Shapiro stated that the film “was a bait-and-switch because the entire movie is a feminist diatribe about the evils of the modern patriarchy. They mainstream that within a bunch of Left-wing social gobbledygook in a movie that is supposed to be sort of a fun romp with a Barbie doll. And when you notice their agenda, they get very upset.”

Director Greta Gerwig, who also co-wrote the film, told Vogue that she wrote an abstract poem about Barbie and compared it to the Apostles’ Creed, the affirmation of certain core Christian beliefs.

“Ken was invented after Barbie to burnish Barbie’s position in our eyes and in the world. That kind of creation myth is the opposite of the creation myth in Genesis,” Gerwig said.

One of the characters in the film gives a speech in which she complains, “It is literally impossible to be a woman. … You have to answer for men’s bad behavior, which is insane, but if you point that out, you’re accused of complaining. … never forget that the system is rigged. … I’m just so tired of watching myself and every single other woman tie herself into knots so that people will like us.”
