The “Yellowstone” universe is growing after the highly-anticipated upcoming Season 5 comes to an end — with two more spinoffs of the series following Kevin Costner‘s departure from the Paramount show.

The upcoming season will mark the end of the current Dutton family saga led by Costner’s character, John Dutton, when it premieres in November 2024. However, two spinoffs are in the works, from the existing producers MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, the Hollywood Reporter reported.

One of the shows will put the Duttons in the present day — with a working title of “2024” — and the other will follow in the footsteps of the two other “Yellowstone” prequels “1883” and “1923,” with a current show title of “1944,” the outlet noted.

“Within five years, we grew ‘Yellowstone’ from a hit U.S. cable show with five million viewers into a global hit franchise with over 100 million fans around the world and multiple extensions — and we’re just getting started,” Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, said.

“On the heels of ‘1883’ and ‘1923’s’ success, our new planned spinoffs, 1944 and 2024, will take audiences on a thrilling, new and unexpected journey with the complex and compelling storytelling that has become a hallmark of the franchise and has helped turn it into a worldwide cultural phenomenon thanks to the creative mastermind of Taylor Sheridan,” he added.

“The global success of ‘Yellowstone’ continues to thrill and excite us at 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch,” 101 Studios CEO David Glasser added. “This has been such an exhilarating ride with our partners at MTV Entertainment Studios and we can’t wait to bring 1944 and 2024 to audiences everywhere.”

The “2024” series is expected to follow the Dutton’s story, but with new characters and locations, along with existing ones. But whether those existing characters include stars of the show like Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, Luke Grimes, and or Wes Bentley has yet to have been provided.

Earlier this year, rumors surfaced that Costner was leaving the show at the height of its popularity. He recently opened up about what caused his departure from the popular series over a scheduling conflict.

“Somewhere along the line they wanted to change things,” Costner said of the “Yellowstone” filming process. “They wanted to do 5A and 5B … affected ‘’Horizon.’ I was going to do my movie ‘’Horizon’ and leave that show, do my movie, then do B. A show I was only doing once a year I was now doing twice.”

Costner said Paramount “walked away” from negotiations.  “We did negotiate. There were issues about creative. I tried to break the log jam. They walked away.”
