Yellowstone” star Piper Perabo disputed the idea that the hit Paramount drama is just a “red-state” show and said she thinks both sides of the political aisle are represented.

The 46-year-old actress, who plays an activist named Summer on the Kevin Costner-lead series, admitted that she and show creator Taylor Sheridan “don’t always agree politically,” according to The Hollywood Reporter, but added she thinks the show proves that those on both sides have more in common than not.

“But what I like about doing it [Yellowstone] is that Taylor and I don’t always agree politically,” Perabo explained.

“And through knowing each other socially and making this show, we realize that we fight for a lot more common things than we argue about,” she added. “I feel like that’s happening with John [Costner’s character] and Summer, and I would hope we can have that happen in America.”

“So to be part of the conversation where people are trying to see what common good we can work on together, and then we’ll deal with maybe the more complicated issues once we’ve got all the stuff we agree on settled?” Perabo continued. “That’s pretty cool.”

The “Covert Affairs” star said that as someone who is “politically active and an activist,” she wants to find “that common ground” on things bigger than “Daylight Saving Time.”

“I want to find the more complicated common ground. And I feel like ‘Yellowstone’ does that,” the actress shared, noting that much of the year, she lives in a very rural community in Western Montana. The actress noted that she follows the politics and issues people are concerned about where she lives.

“Some people see the show one way, and some the other,” she added. “I think there are a lot of both sides in ‘Yellowstone.’ Almost no show has as many Native American leads as ‘Yellowstone’ does, except for ‘Reservation Dogs.’ And to me, that’s very cool and modern and diverse. So there are a lot of things where I think ‘Yellowstone’ is bigger than just one color.”
