Will Smith’s son Jaden Smith said that his mom, Jada Pinkett Smith, introduced their family to psychedelic drugs.

The 24-year-old actor/rapper made the comment during his recent appearance at the Psychedelic Science conference in Denver, Colorado, USA Today reported.

“I think it was my mom, actually, that was really the first one to make that step for the family,” Jaden said. “It was just her for a really, really long time and then eventually it just trickled and evolved and everybody found it in their own ways.”

The Hollywood couple’s son said that using the drugs with his family helped him find empathy with his siblings, sister Willow, 22, and half-brother Trey, 30.

“Siblings can argue so much and fight so much, and lord knows me and my siblings have done so much of that in the past,” Jaden said. “But the level of love and empathy that I can feel for them inside of the (psychedelic) experiences and outside of the experiences has been something that’s profound and beautiful.”

He added, “the (psychedelics) actually help us to open up our minds to get out of the old ways of thinking that got us into lots of these arguments and open it up so that it just releases and makes room for you to work it out and massage it out until it’s completely gone.”

“I think people have made a lot of assumptions,” Jada Pinkett Smith said regarding speculation about her family. “And you know what? Rightfully so. I have to take ownership of that, in regards to the narrative that I’ve participated in, the falsehoods about myself.”

“In the book I really explain all of that extensively,” Smith told PEOPLE magazine, referencing her upcoming book, “Worthy,” which is slated to come out this fall.

In 2021, the 51-year-old actress said on her since-canceled “Red Table Talk” show that she used “plant medicine” to deal with her depression.

“I was introduced to plant medicine 10 years ago to deal with my depression,” the actress said at the time. “And it knocked it out.”

During the same show, Jaden talked about using mushrooms for the first time out of “curiosity” and the “experience” he had were “learned what ego was for the first time,” Fox News noted.

“It was always in my head talking, telling me what I was and what I wasn’t and for the first time I had like an ego dissolution where I was like, ‘That was the moment that really changed me,'” he added.
