The transition from “old school feminist” to “new age feminism” is quite remarkable. The days of bra-burning and women wanting to have an equal voice in government are gone. Now, the focus has shifted and the Left’s goal is not to offend anyone who identifies as a woman.
In this quest to “include” transgender people, particularly those who transitioned from men to women, the Left effectively disposes of women. The challenges women face, like having periods and giving birth, are no longer reserved to just women. We’re forced out of the picture — and the discussion — when we’re told that we’re not the only ones who can menstruate or have children (even though that is the case).
According to the UCLA School of Law Williams Institute, “0.6% of U.S. adults identify as transgender.” Even though less than 1% of the population falls into the transgender category, the Left is willing to alienate women, who make up roughly half of the population. That’s astonishing.
The Left continually tells women that our feelings and struggles don’t matter when they use phrases such as “birthing people,” like Congresswoman Cori Bush (D-MO) did on Thursday.
“Every day, Black birthing people and our babies die because our doctors don’t believe our pain. My children almost became a statistic. I almost became a statistic,” Bush tweeted, along with a video of her testimony in front of the House Oversight Committee. “Hear us. Believe us. Because for so long, nobody has.”
NARAL Pro-Choice America retweeted Bush’s video, defending her decision to use “gender neutral language.”
“When we talk about birthing people, we’re being inclusive. It’s that simple,” the pro-abortion group tweeted. “We use gender neutral language when talking about pregnancy, because it’s not just cis-gender women that can get pregnant and give birth. Reproductive freedom is for *every* body.”

Why is it wrong to say that women are the only ones who can have periods, bear children, and abort babies? It’s the truth. Biological men cannot do those things. That. Is. A. Fact.
What separates men and women isn’t something to look down upon, but rather something to celebrate. Women have the ability to bring a precious life into this world. When the Left claims anyone can do that, it diminishes the truly remarkable nature of being a woman.
When the Left claims that anyone can be a woman simply because they feel like it, they dismiss the struggles of women like me, who suffer from fertility-related illnesses. They minimize the physical, mental, and emotional toll those diseases have and the struggle some couples go through to bring a child into the world.
But the need to downplay women’s role in society is just the Left’s latest effort to put transgender men and women over natural-born women. It’s why many of them are okay with kids being chemically castrated with hormone therapy at a young age.
Either way, I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say this isn’t what feminists in the 1960s thought of when they dreamed of “women’s rights.”
