Comedian and libertarian activist Dave Smith got to the core of liberals’ hypocrisy in a viral Twitter thread posted Saturday about Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) flying some 50 illegal immigrants to the wealthy enclave of Martha’s Vineyard.
Notably, the leftists at Martha’s Vineyard stunningly shipped out the illegal immigrants to a Massachusetts military base by Friday morning, less than 48 hours from when the migrants landed at the island.
“The Martha’s Vineyard thing might be the best and clearest example of what so many of us have been talking about for years,” Smith explained on Saturday. “The progressive elites advocate for policies that they never have to suffer the consequences of. And the one time they do, it ends quickly.”

“They are against building a wall but they live in gated communities,” he outlined. “They are for gun control but they have armed security. They destroy public education but send their kids to elite private schools. They support mask mandates but only their servants wear them at their parties.”
“There are too many examples like this to list them off,” Smith said. “And it’s not just that they advocate for these policies but that they demonize, in the most vicious ways, anyone who dare oppose them. This is why the elites are so rightfully hated in our society.”

DeSantis and fellow GOP governors Greg Abbott (R-TX) and Doug Ducey (R-AZ) have been sending to blue states illegal immigrants that cross into their territory, or, in Florida’s case, get flown there by the federal government. Texas has sent nearly 10,000 illegal immigrants to New York City and Washington, including about 100 dropped off in front of Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence on Thursday and another 50 on Saturday.
DeSantis ripped into what he described as liberals’ empty “self-congratulatory virtue signaling” in light of the illegal immigrants being shipped out in under 48 hours.
“You’re talking about 50 people. Did they get them employed? Did they get them set up? No,” DeSantis said over the weekend. “They called out the National Guard and they deported those people off the island the very next day.”
“Now we see that’s just self-congratulatory virtue signaling,” the governor added.
DeSantis further ripped the media reaction to his decision to fly out the “voluntary” illegal immigrants.
“I saw somebody on CNN try to say, ‘sending 50 illegal aliens to wealthy Martha’s Vineyard is reminiscent of the Holocaust,’” he explained, The Daily Wire reported. “And I just thought to myself, has the world gotten totally mad? I mean, these are voluntary transportation that they’re signing up for, but they’re given a good ride, they’re given everything. And that’s just you know, it’s a humane thing to do.”
“What’s not humane, is what Biden is doing, he’s given a false promise, the border’s open, luring people to come here for political purposes, and then basically cutting these people loose and leaving them high and dry,” the Republican blasted. “What he should say is, ‘our border’s not open. You know, there’s ways to apply to come to this country, but just simply barreling across the border is not one of them.’ And I think you can trace all this back to him coming to office and reversing President Trump’s policies, not because Trump’s policies were wrong, it was all just a big virtue signal, because they don’t like Trump. So they have to do everything the opposite of him.”
