<p>Daily Wire host Michael Knowles was part of the White House&#8217;s first-ever &#8220;Podcast Row&#8221; on Thursday, joining other podcasters in a room set up where they can stream, record, and talk with Trump cabinet officials.</p>
<p>The White House debuted Podcast Row as the Trump administration prioritizes giving access to journalists and news outlets outside of the legacy media. Podcast Row is similar to the &#8220;new media seat&#8221; the White House grants to journalists and podcasters once a month at the press briefing.</p>
<p>Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the new setup for podcast hosts and quipped that those invited to Podcast Row reach &#8220;more viewers than CNN and the legacy media.&#8221;</p>
<p>“Hey everybody, today is Podcast Row here at the White House and our team has gathered a room full of podcasters with cabinet officials, White House officials who are talking to them about the president and his agenda,” Leavitt said. “And I bet you, the people in that room have much more viewers than CNN and the legacy media, just saying. We’re proud to welcome them to the White House.”</p>

White House Hosts Inaugural ‘Podcast Row’

<p>President Donald Trump, joined by representatives from the United Kingdom in the Oval Office, announced on Thursday that the two countries will cut back on trade barriers in the first major trade deal for the president.</p>
<p>The agreement will allow the United States to gain increased market access in the United Kingdom — the sixth-largest economy in the world — for billions of dollars worth of American exports, according to Trump. U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who spoke to the president over the phone, told Trump he is &#8220;really pleased&#8221; with the deal between the two allies. The final details are still being worked out, but Trump will keep some tariffs in place on British imports. The president emphasized that the deal would boost both countries&#8217; industrial bases and help protect steel.</p>
<p>&#8220;Both countries have agreed that economic security is national security and will be working together as allies to ensure that we have a strong industrial base and appropriate export controls and protections for key technologies and industries like steel,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;Steel was a big factor. Both countries will become stronger with steel.&#8221;</p>
<p>Shortly after announcing the deal, President Trump posted a chart on social media, showing that Britain&#8217;s tariffs on U.S. goods will drop to 1.8% while &#8220;reciprocal tariffs&#8221; on the United Kingdom will remain at 10%. Trump said other nations should not view the 10% tariff on Britain as a template for how the administration will negotiate future deals.</p>

<p>Asked by Daily Wire White House Reporter Mary Margaret Olohan if the trade deal includes any assurances from Britain to protect free speech and freedom of religion, Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the agreement is solely focused on the economy.</p>
<p>Lutnick added that the deal will also allow the United Kingdom to export up to 100,000 vehicles to the United States for a 10% tariff. Lutnick said the agreement will enable the U.K. to maintain access to the U.S. market while also protecting American jobs. The United States will be able to gain more access to U.K. markets to sell agricultural products such as “ethanol, beef, [and] machinery,&#8221; according to Lutnick. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said the deal will &#8220;exponentially increase our beef exports&#8221; to the United Kingdom.</p>
<p>The United Kingdom will also be allowed to export Rolls-Royce engines and airplane parts to the United States tariff-free, and Britain will purchase $10 billion worth of Boeing airplanes from the United States, Lutnick added.</p>
<p>Starmer praised Trump and his trade team for working out the trade deal.</p>
<p>&#8220;Really important deal,&#8221; Starmer said. &#8220;This is going to boost trade between and across our countries. It&#8217;s not only going to protect jobs, but create jobs, opening market access.&#8221;</p>
<p>The deal is a significant step for the Trump administration as it seeks to negotiate new trade agreements with dozens of countries worldwide following the president&#8217;s &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; tariffs rollout last month.</p>

‘Both Countries Will Become Stronger’: Trump’s Trade Deal Will Give U.S. More Access To U.K. Economy

<p>The European Union is looking to give itself some leverage against the Trump administration, releasing a plan on Thursday to hit the United States with additional tariffs if trade negotiations don&#8217;t come to fruition.</p>
<p>The European Commission unveiled two steps it would take against the United States, including a higher tariff on more than $100 billion worth of U.S. goods and unleashing a trade dispute against the United States with the World Trade Organization, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/08/world/europe/eu-retaliatory-tariffs-trump-us.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The European Union announced its retaliation plan as President Donald Trump said he will agree to a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-to-announce-major-trade-deal-with-united-kingdom?topStoryPosition=undefined&amp;author=Zach+Jewell&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=1&amp;rowHeadline=Top+Stories&amp;rowType=Top+Stories&amp;title=Trump+To+Announce+%E2%80%98Major+Trade+Deal%E2%80%99+With+United+Kingdom" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;major deal</a>&#8221; with the United Kingdom on Thursday.</p>
<p>“We believe there are good deals to be made for the benefit of consumers and businesses on both sides of the Atlantic,” said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. “At the same time, we continue preparing for all possibilities, and the consultation launched today will help guide us in this necessary work.”</p>
<p>The European Union says American goods on the <a href="///Users/zachjewell/Downloads/Information%20gathering_list%20of%20products%20for%20consultation_EU%20common%20commercial%20policy%20measures%20on%20imports%20of%20goods%20from%20the%20US.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">list</a> that could be hit with an additional tariff include a wide range of products from cars and airplanes to grain and meat. The bloc is also considering a restriction on exports of scrap steel and chemical products. The list is not final, and the European Commission will review feedback on it before providing a final list over the summer, according to <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/05/08/eu-trump-tariffs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Axios</a>.</p>
<p>Trump slapped a 20% tariff on the European Union in his &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; tariff rollout last month. The bloc <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/apr/10/eu-suspends-retaliatory-tariffs-us-goods-trump-von-der-leyen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">retaliated</a>, hitting U.S. goods with a 25% duty, but after Trump announced he would lower tariffs to 10% across the board for most countries, the European Union suspended its retaliatory action for 90 days. Trump&#8217;s 25% tariff on aluminum and steel products and car imports remains in effect.</p>
<p>While Trump did not reveal any details of the upcoming deal with the United Kingdom, he said the agreement &#8220;is a full and comprehensive one that will cement the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom for many years to come.&#8221; A British official also <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/07/business/economy/trump-trade-britain.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> The New York Times that the deal would benefit both countries, but did not offer specifics.</p>
<p>The agreement with the United Kingdom could give the European Union a better hint at how to negotiate with the Trump administration in the coming weeks. Trump said earlier this week that his administration “could sign 25 deals right now,” but added that it’s up to other countries “to sign deals with us.”</p>

E.U. Reveals Plan To Hit U.S. With Additional Tariffs If Trade Talks Stall

<p>President Donald Trump said he will join representatives from the United Kingdom in the Oval Office on Thursday morning to announce a &#8220;major trade deal,&#8221; which he promises will be the &#8220;first of many.&#8221;</p>
<p>Trump posted on Truth Social Wednesday night, hinting at the announcement with a &#8220;highly respected&#8221; country before posting again on Thursday morning and revealing that it will be the United Kingdom. The trade deal is set to be announced in a press conference in the Oval Office at 10:00 a.m. ET, according to Trump.</p>
<p>&#8220;The agreement with the United Kingdom is a full and comprehensive one that will cement the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom for many years to come,&#8221; the president <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114471661029075259" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;Because of our long time history and allegiance together, it is a great honor to have the United Kingdom as our FIRST announcement. Many other deals, which are in serious stages of negotiation, to follow!&#8221;</p>
<p>A British official <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/07/business/economy/trump-trade-britain.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> The New York Times that the deal would benefit both countries, but did not offer specifics.</p>
<p>Trump met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House in late February, before Trump rolled out his &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; tariffs affecting nearly every country in the world. Trump&#8217;s move <a href="https://www.great.gov.uk/markets/united-states/us-trade-tariffs/#:~:text=The%20US%20announced%20updated%20tariffs,not%20available%20in%20the%20US" target="_blank" rel="noopener">imposed</a> a 10% tariff on U.K. imports, which took effect on April 5. The European country is also being hit by Trump&#8217;s 25% tariffs on steel and aluminium and car parts. The United Kingdom threatened a retaliatory tariff on U.S. goods as it prepared for Trump&#8217;s levy to go into effect last month. Even before Trump&#8217;s &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; announcement, the United Kingdom had already imposed a tariff on some U.S. goods, including a 10% duty on car imports.</p>
<p>Whether Trump&#8217;s deal with the United Kingdom will result in the cancellation of the tariff on the country will be a key point of interest in the press conference, as it could signal how the Trump administration is pursuing deals with other nations. The administration says it is close to coming to trade agreements with dozens of countries, and White House officials will finally <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breakthrough-trump-officials-set-date-for-direct-trade-talks-with-china" target="_blank" rel="noopener">begin</a> talks with China on Saturday.</p>
<p>During a cabinet meeting earlier this week, Trump said that the United States &#8220;could sign 25 deals right now,&#8221; but added that it&#8217;s up to other countries &#8220;to sign deals with us.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;They want a piece of our market,&#8221; he added. &#8220;We don&#8217;t want a piece of their market, we don&#8217;t care about their market.&#8221;</p>

Trump To Announce ‘Major Trade Deal’ With United Kingdom

<p>Three of the five Memphis, Tennessee, police officers who were charged in the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols in 2023 were acquitted of state charges on Wednesday.</p>
<p>Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, and Justin Smith were found not guilty of all charges by a jury that deliberated for two days, Fox 13 Memphis <a href="https://www.fox13memphis.com/news/former-memphis-officers-not-guilty-of-all-charges-in-state-trial-related-to-tyre-nichols/article_64c2937c-fdfd-4714-88d9-a4b929d04376.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The former police officers faced charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of official misconduct, and official oppression. While the former officers celebrated their acquittal on state charges, they still face sentencing after being convicted of obstruction of justice in a federal trial.</p>
<p>The trial, which was carried out in front of an out-of-town jury from Hamilton County, Tennessee, took nine days. Prosecutors argued that Bean and Smith had a duty to intervene after their fellow officers, Desmond Mills Jr. and Emmitt Martin, began kicking Nichols in the head while he was on the ground. Haley arrived on the scene after Martin first kicked Nichols and then kicked Nichols&#8217; upper arm. According to prosecutors, Haley failed to step in and prevent escalating violence, adding that the former officer yelled, &#8220;Beat that man&#8217;s (expletive).&#8221; Haley&#8217;s defense attorney brought in a use-of-force expert during the trial who testified that Haley&#8217;s kick to Nichols&#8217; arm was an attempt to get him into handcuffs, not to continue any violence.</p>
<p>Nichols got into a confrontation with the Memphis Police officers after he was pulled over on January 7, 2023. Nichols attempted to flee after being pepper-sprayed and got close to his mother&#8217;s home before the officers soon caught up with him and took him to the ground. Video <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udIwBuozE28&amp;list=PL8QBkS_wk32WqmDIbofsZCyneo1JbM3Tn&amp;index=2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">footage</a> from a camera mounted on a nearby pole showed Nichols being kicked and punched while he was on the ground. The 29-year-old man died after being transported to a hospital.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s hard for us to imagine how someone could say that none of the defendants were guilty of any of the charges,&#8221; said Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy. &#8220;I think that any fair-minded person who watched the video would come to the conclusion that everybody there had some responsibility for Tyre Nichols&#8217; death.&#8221;</p>
<p>Some on the Left <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/27/opinions/tyre-nichols-memphis-police-department-jones/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pointed</a> to the beating death of Nichols to paint the police as racist, despite all five officers being black. Demonstrators marched in Memphis following Nichols&#8217; death, demanding an end to &#8220;police terror&#8221; and claiming that police &#8220;uphold white supremacy.&#8221;</p>

<p>All five officers accused of beating Nichols to death were fired from the Memphis Police Department shortly after his death. Bean and Smith face 20 years in federal prison after being found guilty of witness tampering. Haley could serve a life sentence in federal prison after being found guilty of using excessive force, being deliberately indifferent to Nichols&#8217; medical needs, witness tampering, and conspiracy to witness tamper, USA Today reported.</p>
<p>Martin and Mills Jr. both took plea deals and testified during the federal trial, while Mills also testified during the state trial. Prosecutors recommended a 40-year prison sentence for Martin and a 15-year sentence for Mills, according to Fox 13.  Sentencing for all five officers in the federal trial is expected to take place soon since the state trial has concluded.</p>

Three Former Memphis Police Officers Found Not Guilty In Beating Death Of Tyre Nichols

<p>Eighty years after the end of the deadliest war in human history, President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that it&#8217;s long past time for the United States to celebrate its victory in World War II.</p>
<p>Trump signed a proclamation in the Oval Office, officially recognizing May 8 as &#8220;Victory Day for World War II.&#8221; The president said that he wants the United States to join Europe, which recognizes &#8220;Victory in Europe Day&#8221; on May 8, in celebrating the end of the war.</p>
<p>&#8220;All over the globe, our World War II allies are celebrating this week, but the United States has never joined in with the proper celebration of our own,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;And the victory was mostly accomplished because of us, whether you like it or not. We came into that war and we won that war, and we had a lot of help from a lot of people, a lot of great allies, but I think there would be nobody that would say we were not the dominant force in that war.&#8221;</p>
<p>Trump first <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114435902192931017" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hinted</a> at the announcement in a Truth Social post last week, saying he would be &#8220;renaming May 8th as Victory Day for World War II and November 11th as Victory Day for World War I.&#8221; The White House later <a href="https://abc7chicago.com/post/white-house-backtracks-donald-trumps-announcement-renaming-veterans-day-victory-world-war/16311070/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">clarified</a> that Trump would not be renaming Veterans Day, but that &#8220;Victory Day for World War I&#8221; would simply be &#8220;an additional proclamation that goes out on that day.&#8221;</p>

Russian President Vladimir Putin <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/kremlin-says-russia-still-plans-cease-fire-ukraine-may-8-10-will-respond-if-2025-05-06/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> on Tuesday that Russia will observe a three-day ceasefire in its war against Ukraine to celebrate the Soviet Union&#8217;s victory over the Nazis.</p>
<p>Trump said that it&#8217;s &#8220;a great disservice to the people that lost their lives&#8221; for the United States not to celebrate its World War II victory.</p>
<p>&#8220;It was American tanks and ships and trucks and airplanes and service members that vanquished the enemy 80 years ago this week,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;Without America, the liberation would never have happened, and so we have to pay tribute and homage to those people that gave us victory.&#8221;</p>

TIME TO CELEBRATE: Trump Officially Marks May 8 As ‘Victory Day For World War II’

<p>Vice President JD Vance said on Wednesday that he still views Europe as &#8220;on the same team&#8221; as the United States, adding that his recent criticism of the continent is not out of any animosity toward America&#8217;s longtime allies.</p>
<p>Vance made the remarks during a Munich Security Council Q&amp;A nearly three months after he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-people-have-a-voice-vance-warns-europe-about-censorship-the-threat-from-within" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ripped</a> European countries over censorship, immigration, and foreign policy at the Munich Security Conference.</p>

And I think at least with Europe that&#8217;s not a full encapsulation of my views.&#8221;</p>
<p>The vice president added that he believes the United States and Europe are connected by far more than transactional agreements.</p>
<p>&#8220;European civilization and American civilization, European culture and American culture are very much linked, and they&#8217;re always going to be linked,&#8221; Vance said. &#8220;And I think that it&#8217;s completely ridiculous to think you&#8217;re ever going to be able to drive a firm wedge between the United States and Europe.&#8221;</p>
<p>At the Munich Security Conference in February, Vance told the audience that he feared Europe was leaving behind its &#8220;fundamental values&#8221; that it shared with the United States, such as free speech and fair elections.</p>
<p>&#8220;The threat that I worry the most about vis-à-vis Europe is not Russia, it’s not China, it’s not any other external actor,&#8221; Vance <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/remarks/2025/02/remarks-by-vice-president-vance-at-the-munich-security-conference/">said</a> in the speech. &#8220;What I worry about is the threat from within, the retreat of Europe from some of its most fundamental values — values shared with the United States of America.&#8221;</p>
<p>The vice president acknowledged his February speech on Wednesday, saying that the United States and Europe will continue to &#8220;have disagreements&#8221; and criticize one another. He added, &#8220;I do think, fundamentally, we have to be and we are on the same civilizational team.&#8221;</p>
