America is in freefall. Cities are crumbling, with open drug abuse and homeless everywhere, overdose deaths are soaring, there’s a mental health epidemic, and then there are the crises, oh the crises: the border, the federal debt, lack of affordable housing, flat-out unaffordable health care.
Inflation continues to soar, and a recent study found more than half (58%) of Americans are now living paycheck to paycheck.
So where are our leaders? Nowhere to be seen.
President Joe Biden spent last weekend at his mansion in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware (Biden has spent 331 days — 40% of his presidency — on vacation, one report finds).
While on a bike ride (he didn’t fall off this time), reporters asked how things are going at the border. “Much better than you all expected.” What color is the sky in his world?!
On plans to visit the border, he said, “Not in the near term, no. It would just be disruptive.” Uh, it’s your job!
Biden is lazy. He slept in on Monday, then flew mid-morning to Philadelphia.
Boy, with everything going on, it must’ve been an important meeting to draw the president away from business at the White House, right? Wrong.

Biden and First Lady Jill Biden flew there on Air Force One to attend their granddaughter Maisy Biden’s graduation ceremony at the University of Pennsylvania. Of course they then popped off for a wonderful (and expensive) lunch.
Well, certainly when he returned to the White House he got back to work. Nope. At 2:40 p.m., the White House called a “lid,” meaning reporters and photographers could go home because the president wouldn’t be doing anything else that day.
The White House on Saturday put out a “week ahead” for the president. Here’s what’s on Biden’s schedule for this week:
- Tuesday: Deliver remarks at a celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month. The Vice President will attend.
- Wednesday: Honor 2021-2022 Medal of Valor recipients from across the country in an East Room ceremony.
- Thursday: Arrive in Japan for a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Kishida of Japan.
On Tuesday, the White House squeezed in a meeting with congressional leaders to negotiate the debt ceiling (oh yeah, that crisis).
And where is Vice President Kamala Harris? The U.S.-Mexico border has exploded, what with Biden ending a key rule that kept foreigners applying for asylum out of the country until they had a court hearing. Certainly Harris — who Biden appointed “Border Czar” in his first week in office — is on the job.
So what’s she up to this week?
- “On Monday, May 15, the Vice President is in Washington, DC and has no public events scheduled,” her official schedule reads.
- “On Tuesday, May 16, the Vice President will convene a roundtable with young men of color small business owners and entrepreneurs.” Then she’ll attend a pro-abortion event.
- “On Wednesday, May 17, the Vice President is in Washington, DC and has no public events scheduled.”
- “On Thursday, May 18, the Vice President is in Washington, DC and has no public events scheduled.”
- “On Friday, May 19, the Vice President will travel to Los Angeles, CA. There she will deliver remarks about the maternal health crisis.” Then she’ll hit a Democratic National Committee fundraiser with fat cats.
At a weekend fundraiser in Buckhead, a wealthy suburb of Atlanta, Harris claimed the end of Title 42 was “going rather smoothly.” Huh? Has she turned on the TV in the last week? Then the Border Czar blamed Congress.
How is this leadership? Where are our top elected officials when America is in crisis?
And a better question: Why aren’t Americans up in arms about our AWOL president and vice president?
