What Is The West’s End Goal In Ukraine? The Million-Ruble Question Nobody Will Answer.

BUCHA, UKRAINE - FEBRUARY 1: A banner depicting U.S. President Joe Biden with Ukrainian words reading as: The world of brave people! #Thank you for the support, on February 1, 2023 in Bucha, outside Kyiv, Ukraine. February 24 will mark one year since Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine. In the time since, fighting has largely concentrated in the east and south of the country, but the capital remains the target of regular air strikes.

What is the West’s end goal in the Russian-Ukraine war? That is the million-dollar — or ruble — question that nobody seems to have an answer to.

Call me crazy, but that question should have been answered before the U.S. decided to give billions upon billions of taxpayer dollars to Ukraine.

It wasn’t answered, and now world leaders are scratching their heads as to how this all ends. In an exclusive interview with POLITICO, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said point-blank that is what weighs on his mind the most.

“My main question is why haven’t we ever had a conversation about the end goal?” Landsbergis said following the Munich Security Conference. “The only discussions or ideas that get floated around are about negotiations and peace processes — and all that makes a lot of people in my part of Europe quite nervous. Okay, so we talk about victory, and we talk about standing with Ukraine to the very end — but let’s also talk about this.”

In the U.S., Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) blasted the Biden administration for supplying Ukraine without any defined strategic plan.

“They have effectively a blank-check policy with no clear, strategic objective identified, and these things can escalate, and I don’t think it’s in our interests to be getting into a proxy war with China, getting involved over things like the borderlands or over Crimea,” DeSantis said in New York on Monday.

President Joe Biden, for his part, has said that the U.S. will support Ukraine “for as long as it takes.” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has said that defeating Russia is the “single most important event going on in the world right now,” but is also scant on details as to what that means exactly.

Only one person in the world who supports continuing the war has provided a definitive target: Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has said the goal should be to oust Russian President Vladimir Putin. The war will continue until that happens, he has claimed repeatedly.

As we meander along, we could be sleepwalking into direct, global conflict.

Former President Donald J. Trump said this week, “If you watch and understand the moves being made by Biden on Ukraine, he is systematically, but perhaps unknowingly, pushing us into what could soon be World War III. How crazy is that?”

Indeed, Colonel Douglas Macgregor told The Daily Wire that Russia has indicated in recent weeks that the war against Ukraine could soon escalate into a war against the U.S. That would result in WWIII without question.

Macgregor pointed out that Russia’s Foreign Ministry summoned United States ambassador Lynne Tracy Tuesday in order to send the U.S. a very pointed message. According to Reuters, Russia told Tracy that weapons given to Ukraine, alongside any military personnel in the country used to maintain such arms, are open targets and that the U.S. and NATO should withdraw from the region.

“This note could have been handed to the US Ambassador 6 months ago,” the colonel observed via email. “Why now?”

The evidence indicates that Russia is about to conduct a massive offensive, potentially as soon as February 24.

“The Russian Armed Forces are on the verge of launching a series of decisive offensive operations designed to destroy what remains of the Ukrainian Army,” Macgregor explained to The Daily Wire. “Moscow is making it clear that any attempt by Washington or its allies to disrupt these operations or intervene in them will result in war with Russia.”

“We must take these statements very seriously,” he added.

But according to the Lithuania diplomat, NATO’s support for Ukraine will not stop anytime soon. Landsbergis says that fear over Russia possibly becoming destabilized should they lose doesn’t matter.

“So, should we stop? Should we ask the Ukrainians to put a moratorium on the regaining of their territory?” Landsbergis asked. “That’s impossible.”

The West cannot define what “winning” looks like — but is asking U.S. taxpayers to help foot the bill to drag Ukraine over the finish line. In doing so, we just may wind up being dragged into a nuclear war with Russia.
