Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) took to social media after viewing an ad for a “demonic” new FX television series whose main character is the Antichrist.

Johnson shared the criticism on Facebook after seeing the “Little Demon” promo during Sunday’s LSU-Florida State college football game.

“I couldn’t get to the remote fast enough to shield my 11-year-old from the preview, and I wonder how many other children were exposed to it — and how many millions more will tune in to the new series, owned and marketed by DISNEY,” Johnson wrote on Facebook Monday. FX was acquired by a subsidiary of the Walt Disney Company in 2019, with the series currently streaming on Hulu.

“The trailer included dark images of Hell, demons, and satanic imagery, and an explanation that the main character is… the Antichrist(!),” he added.

Johnson also shared the online description of the series that introduces “Little Demon” with the words, “13 years after being impregnated by Satan, a reluctant mother, Laura, and her Antichrist daughter, Chrissy, attempt to live an ordinary life in Delaware, but are constantly thwarted by monstrous forces, including Satan, who yearns for custody of his daughter’s soul.”

Johnson warned that parents should be vigilant to guard the minds of their children.

“WHAT IN THE WORLD?!?” he added. “I could write volumes this morning, and unpack pages of Bible verses here, but instead I’m just going to state the obvious: Please be careful. Our job as parents is to guard the hearts and minds of our kids. This culture has become alarmingly dark and desensitized and this is not a game.”

The GOP congressman is not the only one speaking out against the new series. One Million Moms, a coalition of conservative mothers nationwide, has launched a petition urging Disney to cancel the series.

“The trailer is filled with satanic imagery, animated gore, and graphic violence, such as beheaded chickens, pentagrams, dismembered bodies, and melting human flesh,” the petition explains. “Rather than being represented as dangerous, demonic, and terrifying, Satan is depicted as an average, middle-aged, cardigan-wearing suburban dad.”

The petition has collected more than 20,600 signatures since its recent launch.

The “Little Demon” series includes Danny DeVito as the voice of Satan. He is also an executive producer of the show. His daughter, Lucy DeVito, also serving as an executive producer, is the voice of Chrissy Feinberg, described as the “Antichrist daughter.”

A Variety review offered a different perspective on the early episodes of the controversial series.

“Created and written by Darcy Fowler, Seth Kirschner, and Kieran Valla, ‘Little Demon’ isn’t just a TV-MA excuse to have animated nudity and graphic gore — though that is very much present,” it noted. “It’s a story about puberty and growing up, as well as adjusting to being part of an atypical family.”
