What? Dem Running For Congress Vows To Impeach Clarence Thomas

A Massachusets Democrat running for Congress has vowed to impeach Justice Clarence Thomas, the second black man in history to serve on the Supreme Court, if she is elected.

State Sen. Barbara L’Italien will be running for Congress this coming midterm and has made #MeToo one of her corner platforms by vowing to hold powerful men accused of sexual misconduct accountable. According to The Washington Times, L’Italien claims that Clarence Thomas is guilty of both sexual harassment and perjury based on the testimony of Anita Hill, who accused the justice during his confirmation hearings of harassing her while in his employment.

“There is an elephant in the room for Congress in the #MeToo era,” L’Italien said. “Our leaders have to start talking about it. Two of the most powerful men in the country have been credibly accused of sexual crimes and gotten away with it.”

Despite the allegations against Thomas, Anita Hill’s testimony was deemed not credible by several women who worked under him. Evidence also showed that Anita Hill contacted him several times following her employment.

L’Italien spokesman Joe Katz told Politico that she is the first congressional candidate to call for Justice Thomas‘ impeachment. She bases this on the fact that the Supreme Court can strike down laws regulating sexual harassment.

“Laws cracking down on sexual assault have to be signed by a president who multiple women say assaulted them,” said L’Italien. “Regulations to stop sexual harassment can be struck down by a Supreme Court justice who lied under oath to counter allegations of sexual harassment. Why would victims think a government like that is looking out for them?”

Leftists have continually marginalized Justice Thomas’ participation on the Supreme Court. Being the second black man in history to serve on it, he has been denigrated at every turn for his conservative leanings. While Ruth Bader Ginsburg gets glowing biopics by major Hollywood studios, Clarence Thomas, a man who survived racism to become an influential public figure, has had the Anita Hill controversy thrown at his legacy at every turn. He was also snubbed by the Smithsonian African American History Museum for up to a year until significant backlash forced administrators into giving him a mention.
