Speaking on CNN, Monday morning, White House press secretary Josh Earnest offered another example of the pusillanimous attitude of the Obama Administration vis-à-vis Islamic terrorism and Islamic State, calling ISIS’s war on the West a “narrative battle.”
Earnest was responding to the weekend violence in which pipe bombs exploded in Manhattan and New Jersey while an apparent acolyte of ISIS stabbed multiple people in a St. Cloud, Minnesota mall before being shot dead by an off-duty officer.
Earnest told CNN’s Chris Cuomo, “When it comes to ISIL, we are in a fight, a narrative fight, with them, a narrative battle. And what ISIL wants to do is they want to project that they are an organization that is representing Islam in a fight, in a war against the West, in a war against the United States. That is a bankrupt, false narrative. It’s a mythology. And we have made progress in debunking that mythology.”
So the Obama Administration wants the American public to believe that ISIS does not represent all of Islam? Fair enough. But for the Administration to call the real violence that has taken hundreds of lives from Paris to Brussels to Munich to Boston to San Bernardino to Fort Hood to Chattanooga to Orlando a “narrative battle” is not only an insult to the dead and their families but also a minimization of the threat the faces the West daily.

This is nothing new for the Obama Administration; Obama forced the deletion of “radical Islam” from the government’s anti-terrorism training, refused to call the massacre at Fort Hood a terrorist attack, labeling it “workplace violence,” and initially called ISIS the “JV team.”
The St. Cloud stabbings were executed by a 22-year-old Somali immigrant named Dahir A. Adan. The bombings in New York and New Jersey are allegedly the work of a 28-year-old naturalized citizen from Afghanistan, Ahmad Khan Rahami.
