Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean let CNN anchor Don Lemon have a piece of her mind after he stepped over a line during Thursday morning’s broadcast, referring to 51-year-old former Governor Nikki Haley (R-S.C.) as “past her prime.”

Lemon was responding to a call from Haley, who recently announced her plan to seek the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, suggesting that politicians over a certain age should take mental competency tests. “America is not past our prime. It’s just that our politicians are past theirs,” Haley said.

The CNN anchor then suggested that Haley should be careful what she wished for, arguing that because she was no longer in her “20s, 30s, and 40s,” the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations was also “past her prime” — and Dean, among others, had something to say about that.

“Don’t shoot the messenger, I’m just saying what the facts are,” Lemon insisted over the objections of co-host Poppy Harlow. “Google it. Everybody at home, when is a woman in her prime? It says 20s, 30s and 40s.”

I just ‘googled’ and found out that I’m a year older than @NikkiHaley. According to @donlemon all women aged 50 and up are ‘past our prime!’ I’d argue we’re just getting started!” Dean tweeted in response.

Dean went on to suggest that Haley ought to use the CNN clip in her advertising going forward, adding, “Just heard @donlemon said @NikkiHaley is ‘past her prime’ as a woman. And then when challenged he said: ‘just google it!’ And @CNN wonders why they are hemorrhaging viewers … @NikkiHaley should use this clip in her advertising campaign. What a gift from @CNN.”

Fox Business host David Asman pointed out that former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was in her 50s and 60s when she served, adding, “Mrs. Thatcher began her historic 11-year run as PM in her 54th year.”

Leftist misogyny: Imagine, the year is 2015, and Don Lemon is saying the exact same thing about Hillary Clinton …,” Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) commented.

In a related story, Don Lemon is 56 and older than Nikki Haley, who he says is past her prime. It’s an utter mystery why almost no one is watching this masterpiece of a morning show hastily put together by Chris Licht,” The Hill’s media and politics columnist Joe Concha added.

Independent journalist Glenn Greenwald took a different approach, saying that Lemon’s sexist and derisive commentary — and the conflict it created with his female co-hosts — was the only thing making the CNN morning show watchable.

The absolute, utter, visceral resentment that Don Lemon has for his co-hosts for ruining his spotlight — and the contempt they return to him as a result — is one of the first entertaining things CNN has broadcast in years. I honestly can’t get enough,” he said.
