Boy was that an arduous act of love. For 24 hours, residents on Martha’s Vineyard proudly lived out their yard-sign creeds, proclaiming “hate has no home here” and “no human is illegal” as they welcomed 50 illegal aliens sent courtesy of Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL).
Then the buses showed up on Friday morning and the migrants were promptly shown the door.
On Friday, Governor Charlie Baker (R-MA) activated up to 125 National Guard to handle the illegal aliens. That’s not a typo, the Left-leaning Republican brought in more than two National Guardsmen per migrant to deal with the situation. The illegal aliens then boarded buses, which will reportedly transport them to a ferry heading toward their final destination at Joint Base Cape Cod. There they will be housed in unused military barracks on the mainland.
“Our Administration has been working across state government to develop a plan to ensure these individuals will have access to the services they need going forward, and Joint Base Cape Cod is well equipped to serve these needs,” Baker said Friday morning.

The problem, you see, is that the island cannot possibly handle the 50 individuals. It is too much stress for the tiny island to bear, a homeless shelter coordinator on the island claimed.
“There is multiple wheels that are turning and departments that are working together,” Lisa Belcastro said Thursday morning.
“At some point in time, they have to move from here to somewhere else, right?” Belcastro said. “We don’t have the services to take care of 50 immigrants. And we certainly don’t have housing — we’re in a housing crisis as we are on this island.”
Wow! This Martha’s Vineyard Democrat doesn’t seem very welcoming or progressive.

That claim flies in the face of reality.
To start, the Martha’s Vineyard website proudly boasts that it has plenty of options for tourists to stay.
“Whether you’re looking for a luxurious hotel to cater to your every need, a romantic or family-friendly spot, or are traveling on a budget – you can find it all on Martha’s Vineyard!” myvy.com states.
“With more than 80 lodging options, there’s no shortage of choices,” the site added. “Because we have no chain hotels, each accommodation gives you an authentic Island experience.”
How serene!
In the past, when border states have been overrun with illegal aliens, Immigration and Customs Enforcement paid millions for 1,239 beds and other hotel services in Texas and Arizona.
The island’s website also notes, “The Vineyard is home to roughly 17,000 year-round residents. During the summer months, the population increases to nearly 200,000. Sixty-three percent of all homes on the Vineyard belong to seasonal residents.”
The population swells more than 10-fold from Memorial Day to Labor Day, but we are supposed to believe it can’t handle 50 individuals. Give me a break.
Of course, they can take in the 50 migrants. The reality is that these folks aren’t hypocrites, they are frauds, as DeSantis said on Thursday.
In reality, the island asked for all of this to happen.
Martha’s Vineyard voted for the Biden-Harris ticket over Trump-Pence by a margin of 9,763 – 2,610, per The Vineyard Gazette.
The majority of residents supported Biden as he pledged to get rid of former President Donald J. Trump’s illegal immigration policies in the name of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Now that they see firsthand the ramifications of ditching said policies, they do not want to deal with the negative effects.
And who would? Thousands of communities around the country have been harmed by illegal immigration — whether it be drugs flowing through the porous border or strains on social resources.
So, the solution for ultra-wealthy liberals on a literal island is to get them out of their backyard.
That’s how it works for rich leftists. They pledge support for Democratic candidates and progressive policies, then they fight tooth and nail to never see how those policies hurt communities.
You just have to wonder if folks on the island ever paused to think about what it must be like for actual border towns that are far poorer than Martha’s Vineyard to deal with Biden’s open borders on a daily basis. Perhaps then they would vote against Democrats so other towns don’t have to experience the calamity they dealt with this week.
But that would require humility and critical thinking. It is far easier to pack up the temporary visitors and send them elsewhere — like to an air force base to sleep on cots, out of sight, out of mind.
