Sunny Hostin and her cohosts on ABC’s “The View” spent part of Wednesday’s broadcast mocking Rep. George Santos over his arrest on a number of various charges.
Santos was arrested on Wednesday morning and indicted on 13 counts including campaign finance fraud, making false statements to Congress, and theft of public funds. Fox News reported that Santos was charged with at least seven counts of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, one count of theft of public funds, and two counts of making materially false statements to the House of Representatives.
Hostin, upon learning of Santos’ arrest, gleefully read the charges aloud on the air.
“I’m going to it quickly. He is facing 13 criminal counts, including wire fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds and lying to Congress. Seven counts of wire fraud. Three counts of money laundering. One count of theft of public funds, and two counts of making materially false statements to the House of Representatives,” Hostin, a former federal prosecutor, said.
“And it’s being tried by the Department of Justice in the Eastern District of New York. And we don’t lose those cases!” she added.
Joy Behar took a moment to note that Santos had a “best-dressed” list – and Hostin, to her own horror, had once made that list. “I have no comment. I’m very horrified that I’m on the list,” she said.
Whoopi Goldberg pivoted to argue that former President Donald Trump was fully to blame for the fact that politicians of all stripes could no longer be trusted. Goldberg said that while people used to joke — with a wink and a nod — that politicians couldn’t be trusted, it wasn’t until Trump was elected that it became a serious issue.

Speaking on the arrest and charges against Rep. George Santos (R), Whoopi claims there was no political corruption and you could trust politicians before Trump became president.

The discussion began with the arrest of Rep. George Santos (R-NY) – who has been accused of fabricating much of his personal biography in addition to a number of more serious charges regarding alleged violations of campaign finance laws.
“We’re having a good time with this, but it’s really sad. It is really sad,” Goldberg noted, adding, “And I think one of the reasons that we’re in this position, seeing someone that people voted for in this position, is because we had You-Know-Who, who made all of this kind of behavior normal. This is not normal behavior.”

“We all said from whenever – from when I was a little kid – people, adults always said, ‘Well, you know, you can’t trust a politician,'” Goldberg continued. “You could always sort of take that with a grain of salt, but now you — it’s hard to trust a politician, and I put this squarely in his lap. Put it in You-Know-Who’s lap.”
