U.S. Open champ Sloane Stephens is winning the hearts of millions, and making a pitch for capitalism in the process.
The 24-year-old tennis star took home her first major title on Saturday, along with a check for a whopping $3.7 million. Stephens, making her enthusiasm for the cash prize no secret, had a priceless reaction when she was handed the massive check, instantly becoming an internet sensation.
Further, when Stephens was asked if this impressive win gave her a “hunger” to win more slams, the 24-year-old gave a hilarious and truthful endorsement for capitalism:
“Of course, girl! Did you see the check they handed me? Man, if that doesn’t make you want to play tennis, I don’t know what will,” she responded.
Then, when the pro was asked (by a reporter with clearly zero athletic knowledge or experience) if she felt “bad” for beating her finals opponent, Stephens perfectly replied:
“Feel bad for her? She was in the finals, too. What do you mean? Did you see the check she’s about to get?” she asked. “I’m sure she’ll be just fine.”
Wow, it’s almost like capitalism builds incentive, instead of revoking drive and freedom (thus killing innovation) like socialism or communism.
Stephens deserves the money she won because she earned it. She put in the blood, sweat, and tears, not the government.
The tennis star with an infectious attitude and smile was stunningly ranked at number 935 in the world pre-Open and is now sitting pretty at number 17 thanks to her upset.

Keep on espousing those conservative views, Sloane, and we look forward to hearing back from you after you see the hit you’re about to take via taxes.
