Fox News host Tucker Carlson slammed MSNBC’s Joy Reid for double-masking in the park despite having the COVID vaccine. According to Carlson, if Reid’s figures are correct and 95% of people she saw are still wearing masks even though they have the vaccine, “mass psychosis” is taking place.
“Dr. Gupta, I am among the full-vaccinated, joined Team Pfizer, and I did go jogging today in the park. And I did – this was the mask I wore with a doctor’s mask underneath it,” Reid explained to Dr. Vin Gupta earlier this week. “Most of the people I saw in the park — the park was packed — I’d say like 95% of the people still had masks on,” she said. “There are people who are getting really upset about that. I won’t name them.”
The Fox News host mocked Reid’s “brand loyalty” to Pfizer.
“‘I joined Team Pfizer!’” Carlson mocked. “You did? So they give you a shot of medicine, and then suddenly you’ve sworn allegiance to the creepy multinational pharma conglomerate that made it? That Joy Reid is quite the consumer. Talk about brand loyalty! You never hear about anyone joining Team Advil or Team Erythromycin. Apparently, those guys need to spend more money on marketing. It works with Joy Reid.”
“But it was the next part of the clip that had us concerned. ‘I’m fully vaccinated!’ Reid explained, ‘And that’s why when I went jogging in the park today, I put two masks over my face, just to be safe.’ Of course, vaccination then two masks,” he explained.
The Fox News host compared wearing not one, but two masks after being vaccinated to wearing two condoms following a vasectomy.
“You wonder how is that different from getting a vasectomy and then wearing two condoms, alone? Not to be vulgar, but that’s exactly what it’s like. It’s demented. That’s not a precaution, it’s a compulsion,” he said. “It’s like washing your hands 37 times before you allow yourself to brush your own hair. Freud wrote about this. Joy Reid clearly needs help. A lot of people do. You just heard Joy Reid say that 95% of the New Yorkers she saw yesterday had masks on while they were outside. Can that number be real? Even if it’s half true, we have a major problem here. This is mass psychosis.”

Reid isn’t the only one who continues to wear masks despite being vaccinated. During President Joe Biden’s address to a joint session of Congress on Wednesday, the number of people in the chamber was limited due to COVID. Those who were in attendance were required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing, despite being vaccinated. Ironically, a handful of members and the president were seen bumping fists, bumping elbows, and hugging.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which recommends getting vaccinated:
COVID-19 vaccines are effective at protecting you from getting sick. Based on what we know about COVID-19 vaccines, people who have been fully vaccinated can start to do some things that they had stopped doing because of the pandemic.
In indoor public spaces, the vaccination status of other people or whether they are at increased risk for severe COVID-19 is likely unknown. Therefore, fully vaccinated people should continue to wear a mask that fits snugly against the sides of your face and doesn’t have gaps, cover coughs and sneezes, wash hands often, and follow any applicable workplace or school guidance.
