President Donald Trump appeared at a rally in Southaven, Mississippi on Tuesday night and took on the vague and uncorroborated allegations launched against his Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh by California professor Christine Blasey Ford.
Ford claims Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her some 30-plus years ago in suburban Maryland. She is unsure when and where the alleged assault happened and has changed key details of her story, such as her age at the time, year of the alleged incident, and number of people at the “gathering.” The three party attendees named by the accuser, one of whom is a close friend of Ford’s, have all denied having any knowledge of the party or incident she detailed. Ford’s friend said she has never met Kavanaugh.
“I had one beer. Well, do you think it was — nope, it was one beer,” said Trump, mimicking Ford’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday.
“How did you get home? I don’t remember. How’d you get there? I don’t remember. Where is the place? I don’t remember. How many years ago was it? I don’t know,” the president continued, amid cheers from the audience.
“I don’t know. I don’t know,” he said. “What neighborhood was it in? I don’t know. Where’s the house? I don’t know. Upstairs, downstairs — where was it? I don’t know — but I had one beer. That’s the only thing I remember.”
Trump transitioned to Kavanaugh, whom the president said has had his life destroyed by the Democrat-handled allegations, with help of course from their media allies.
“And a man’s life is in tatters — a man’s life shattered,” he said. “His wife is shattered; his daughters — who are beautiful, incredibly, young kids — they destroy people. They want to destroy people. These are really evil people.”
