On Friday, rich liberal Bill Maher begged for an economic collapse in hopes that we would in turn be able to oust President Donald Trump, whom Maher does not like.
During a panel discussion on the economy — which, by the way, is currently booming and boasting record low unemployment numbers, particularly for minorities — the HBO host made his nasty, anti-Trump feelings known with his bizarre wish.
“I feel like the bottom has to fall out at some point, and by the way, I’m hoping for it because I think one way you get rid of Trump is a crashing economy,” said Maher. “So please, bring on the recession. Sorry if that hurts people but it’s either root for a recession, or you lose your democracy.”
It’s pretty galling to hear anyone wish for economic suffering for Americans on its face, but it’s even more disturbing to hear it from a rich man who knows he would not be affected by his perverse hope of economic calamity. The “Real Time” host has a net worth of $100 million, according to Newsweek, and his show has already been given a green light through 2020.
While Maher will be perfectly fine if economic troubles befall us, all the little people would have to suffer in the righteous pursuit of Anti-Trumpism.
Talk about out of touch.
